JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

A man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief.
Isaiah 53:3

Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.
Philippians 4:4

We find our joy in a "man of sorrows"?

What a paradox!

And yet, of course we should. "He has borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows."

Do we forfeit peace because of our past? "The chastisement of our peace was upon Him."

Do we tremble at the terrible weight of divine justice due to our sins? "The Lord hath laid on Him the iniquity of us all" (Isa. 53:4-6).

For the one who has accepted God's forgiveness through Christ Jesus, there is complete joy in Him, "Who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross" (Heb. 12:2).
--David Logan

Joy, joy of sins forgiven--
God's own joy, boundless and free;
Joy here on earth in the present,
and to live with Him eternally.

Hallelujah! What a Saviour!
(Click to hear music)

He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows,
and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him;
he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
Isaiah 53:3

Author:  Philip P. Bliss, 1838-1876
Musician:  Philip P. Bliss, 1838-1876

Man of Sorrows! what a name
For the Son of God, who came
Ruined sinners to reclaim!
Hallelujah! what a Saviour!

Bearing shame and scoffing rude,
In my place condemned He stood;
Sealed my pardon with His blood:
Hallelujah! what a Saviour!

Guilty, vile and helpless, we;
Spotless Lamb of God was He:
Full atonement!â€" can it be?
Hallelujah! what a Saviour!

Lifted up was He to die,
"It is finished!" was His cry;
Now in heav'n exalted high:
Hallelujah! what a Saviour!

When He comes, our glorious King,
All His ransomed home to bring,
Then anew this song we'll sing:
Hallelujah! what a Saviour!

Wheh.....was just gone a couple of days and just read all the posts.  I didn't want to miss anything.

Jane, it sounds like you are having a wonderful weekend.  A slumber party, eh?  At Rose's?  :)   I guess you won't see this until you're home, but I pray your time in Eugene was a true blessing.  Also, I am concerned and praying for you, re your biopsy.   I know you walk in real faith and trust in God's goodness and wisdom.    :)

I spent the day with grandkids.  My 4 year old Kaleb, and 14 year old Angel, and myself of course, had a day of  fun.  It was mostly for Kaleb, but Angel was there to be sure he had fun. :)  We shopped, had lunch and played at Outdoor Inn.....a wonderful place with lots of games for every age, then home to play with puppies, then on to see The Incredibles at the theatre.  I don't go to movies often, and now I know why.  I was shocked at prices for drinks and popcorn!!   I'm glad we had a day, but next time we watch a movie, it'll be at home. :)

I won't even try to comment on all the posts, but  sure is nice to read them and see what you're all doing.

Oh.....tomorrow, after church,  Amy(my dog who hates teenagers)and I are going to the park.  A lady wanted to see her, maybe get her for her parents.  We decided to meet in the park so she could see how Amy is with other people.   She likes walking, and has such a sweet personality.  I sure hope she finds a loving home soon.  She is so lovable.

Good night all.  Have a blessed day.

Etta Sue

Yes, Karen and I did talk....and talk....and talk.  There sure wasn't any lulls in the conversation.  I just hope that she enjoyed the talk as much as I did.  Great.  And I do believe I have a new friend.

Yes, Larry, the tables were decorated beautifully again.  I got pictures of all 60 tables so I will get to see them when I get them ready to post.  The speaker was Kay Dekalb Smith.  In her younger days she performed at Opry Land.  She is known as a Christian Carol Burnett.  She was so funny.  She had costume props and videos to share.  She sang beautiful at well-known songs with funny lyrics.  And her discription of going through a car wash was hilarious.  A wonderful speaker.  The ladies I took with me really enjoyed being pampered for the evening.

But now it is time to head to church again.  I do feel a nap this afternoon at Jerry's house since I woke in the night and 'did' my pictures an hour while lying in my bed.  Short night.

Papa John

Good morning.  Last night our company arrived, Cornelia’s nephew and his step daughter.  They drove here from Denver to help her get ready to come to Nashville to begin working on her Master’s degree from Vanderbilt University.  I think they will leave to go back tomorrow.

My brother-in-law continues to be in serious condition in Intensive Care at St. Thomas Hospital.  We will go back to the hospital this afternoon after church.  We are having a big crowd here for lunch today.  I think there will be twelve of us.

Good to see everyone.  It is nice to see Iain with us.

Good morning friends, my thoughts rest this morning entirely on stopping and saying a prayer. Sometimes in this fast paced world, we just have to stop and remember that God is in control of our lives. I forget it sometimes in the hustle and bustle. The holiday season, the flu season and the everyday life season is upon us and we have to learn to pace ourselves. Give God his due, it’s his season also.

Good Evening here in England,

At the moment the weathwer here is not to bad just cold. We have been busy getting the trimmings etc ready for the Christmas Time. It is nice to be back after the time in Malta, and the expression there is no place like home is very true.

It has been very nice catching up on the site, and I try to visit all the threads, and I feel the diet one will be a great help to me. I hope I did not offend any body when I placed the photos of some of you on the photo of Malta. It was fun doing it, and thanks to everybody for the welcome you receive when returning to the site after being away.

Bye for now

Trials and Pain: This Does Not Come From God

Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
--James 4:7

I have had times in my life and ministry when the burdens and the
pressures seemed to be too much. Sometimes physical weariness adds
to our problems and our temptation to give in to discouragement and
doubt. At these times it seems that even in prayer it is impossible
to rise above the load. More than once, by faith that seemed to
have been imparted directly from heaven, the Lord has enabled me to
claim all that I needed for body, soul and spirit. On my knees I
have been given freedom and strength to pray, "Now, Lord, I have
had enough of this-I refuse to take any more of this heaviness and
oppression! This does not come from God-this comes from my enemy,
the devil! Lord, in Jesus' name, I will not take it any longer--
through Jesus Christ I am victor!" At these times, great burdens
have just melted and rolled away--all at once.

Brethren, God never meant for us to be kicked around like a
football. He wants us to be humble and let Him do the chastening
when necessary. But when the devil starts tampering with you, dare
to resist him!  I Talk Back to the Devil, p. 15

"Thank You, Father, that 'greater is He that is in [me] than he
that is in the world.' I resist any attempt of Satan to defeat me
today and will conquer in the victory You guarantee. Amen."

Carol

I have been in the kitchen making peanut brittle and hot fudge sauce for gifts.

Judy:  I believe you asked if you would be welcome in a Black church and I want to tell you that we used to visit a Methodist church in Dallas - it was huge & all black members.  We were treated wonderfully and loved the lively music and the message.  Also, we have a friend (street person) here in town who is black and he now visits our congregation.  He likes to say "Amen" and other things out loud and I told him to just say what he felt like - to enjoy the music and sermon as well.  We need to liven up the congregation & he just laughs.  What a testimony he has as he recently lost his oldest son (age 29) in a car accident and he is strong in the Lord.

Listening to a John Denver concert right now.  A very nice day and we had a good Saturday visit with daughter while grandson played hockey in town.

Hi, friends,

It has been a good day today. We're having sprinkles of rain. Papa John, hope you and Cornelia are safe as you drive to and from the hospital.

Must go - there's a medical test tomorrow and I have to make my preparations for it.

Y'all have a good day.

Ruth Ann
...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  We went to Sunday School and church and then out to a Chinese place for lunch with 7 other folks.  I came home and took a nap and am now enjoying my easy chair in front of the TV.  I am watching a news show and some football  but concentrating so much on the computer screen that I miss most of what is on the TV.

Ruth Ann, those preparations for medical tests are always "so much fun".  Hope you test goes well.  I have an appointment tomorrow with my doctor for pre-op before the seed implant on the 14th.  Once again it will be a two hour drive to get there and back.

Carol, when we moved to Maryland back in 1990 and were visiting various churches, we visited in a church where a black congregation and a white congregation had joined together.  We were very well received.  I so well remember the choir processional that was very lively and the choir singing.  I don't remember whether the minister was black or white.

Sonja, hope you didn't meet yourself coming and going today! ;D  Sounds like you had a very interesting day.

Tbear, certainly nice that you and Etta Sue hit it off so well.  We can never have too many friends and I think that is one of the wonderful side benefits of websites like CP and for a number of us who have been involved with the SeniorNet website for a long time.  I understand your feelings with the birthday of your son.  The years just go by so quickly.  Did your inlaws enjoy your decorating last evening?

Papa John, certainly hope you found your brother-in-law better today when you visited the hospital.  Sounds like you had a house full for lunch.

Welcome  Evershine to CP.  Hope you see you joining us posting in NEM soon.

Nita, sounds like you had a full day with your grandchildren.  I understand the shock factor at the refreshment stand at the movies.

Etta Sue, looking forward to your new photos from the Victorian dinner.

Pat, hope you had a wonderful time at your church function today and got to see a lot of old friends.

Hi to Chris and Margit, Vec, Logar,  and anyone I missed commenting to today.

Time to work my crossword puzzle and read the newspapers here on the computer.  This is my normal evening routine.  Also going to have some carmel corn that was left from what Pat took for the party last evening.

Marilyn

Welcome Evershine to CP

Hello to everybody. I only have a short time here at home then back to Fay's and on to church for 4pm prayer meeting. This week they are starting the interviews for a new pastor we are praying for guidance and direction in this decision and in the interviews. Fay doesn't always understand why I am always going to prayer meetings. I try to explain that being and intercessor is partly my calling as a Christian and is my calling as a Prayer Warrior.

Hope y-all have had a good Lord's Day I will return  later.

Carol - sounds to me like you have the right approach relative to black congregtions, churches, etc.  A few years ago our congregation joined with a black one for a service, and we all enjoyed it a lot.

Judy McKenna

Thanks Carol for replying to me, regading mixing with black congregations.  I would certainly hope that everyone would be welcomedin our church too, as we are one in the Lord, when we know Him as our Savior.

Chris:  I have played Carroll Roberson's music clip that you put on here, over and over again.  His voice is just wonderful, and so clear.  I'd LOVE to order one of his CD's.  Did you and Margit order one?  I can imagine how you must have really enjoyed his concert.

Soooo, TBEAR, your real name is KAREN, huh?  I love that name very much, as it is my daughter's name! :D

Do you and Etta Sue live in the same State?

It is wonderful to be able to talk on the phone together, isn't it.  I love making new friends.

Carroll Roberson lives approximately 60 miles west of where I live.  I've seen him in concert too.  About 6-7 yrs ago.  He is very good.

Papa John

Well we just got back from the hospital. Walker seems to be a little better. They moved him from Critical Care to Special Care. The doctor told my sister that this aneurysm was going break sooner or later, that it might be two weeks or a year but that it would be fatal. Of course he could die of something else before that happens. Anyway we did get in to see him.

We did have a great dinner here today. Cornelia had cooked a roast and Rachel had cooked a roast and she brought her dinner to combine with ours and we really had a feast. I told Cornelia it was better than Thanksgiving.

Tonight at church was our annual “Dinner in Bethlehem”  with many scenes portrayed in class rooms, and dinner in the Gym, with the manger scene and just outside the animals with shepherds etc.  We didn’t go tonight because of the rain and having our guests and our hospital visits.

It is good to see everyone.  Have a good nights rest.

Luke 2:6-11
6   And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.
7   And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.
8   And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.
9   And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.
10   And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
11   For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

I am uploading photos from last night to my PhotoSite Website.  I thought I would try it this year instead of posting in Photographs Here.  I will post the URL when it is all uploaded and I am happy with the results!!

Judy, some of the ladies are very dressed up, some are dressed for church.  Sometimes there are jeans and Christmas sweat shirts, sweaters or blouses.  I don't remember seeing jeans last night.  You are too busy looking at all the elegant table settings to look much at the people.  The men, and there were close to 50 of them, prepare the food, fill our dessert dishes with fruit salad, serve the water and coffee and bring to our tables filled plates that the hostesses take to the kitchen.  It is quite an organized affair.  I asked one of the ladies how they can keep improving?  And they do every year.  They have people on the waiting list that would like to host tables.

Oh yes!  Last night we had Chicken Breast, Green beans with Slivered Almonds, Baby Carrots, Fruit Salad, Hot Roll with Butter, Decaf Coffee and for dessert Chocolate Chip Cheesecake with Raspberry Sauce.  Really quite tasty.  Then the entertainment was for about an hour and a half.  All for $10 each...but don't tell Ivalou and my other two guests.  I always get 4 tickets and it is their Christmas present from me including for myself...
;)

Sue

I can't wait to see the pictures Etta Sue.  And I won't tell anyone of the cost either!  I'm sure that is quite a nice gift.

My parents were over for dinner this evening and brought my Aunt with them.  Quite a nice houseful!  Nothing special to eat, just a cottage roll, potatoes, peas and baby carrots.  My parents brought a black-forest cake and some ice cream for dessert.  The company was what was important.

Welcome to our new members!

I suppose I should log off, and start getting prepared for the week ahead.  NIght all!

Marilyn

Well I have just returned home for a wonderful evening of fellowship after our prayer meeting. We were putting up the church Christmas tree an  just having a  lot fo good fellowship. There were about 12 of us there. Then we had cookies and hot chocolate or Decaf.

See you all tomorrow I am goign to kick backand relax it has been a long week and tomorrow I start all over again.  7 days per week  but I am keeping healthy and busy.

NEWS FROM OUR JANET!!

Hello!  I finally found a little bit of time and an internet cafe, so am letting you know we are still alive and having the most wonderful vacation of our lives!  We have been really busy, and are being treated like royalty here.  Thailand is a beautiful country with warm and wonderful people.

Joe met us at the airport, then came back and sent three evening with us as well. in Bangkok.  He had to ride a bus an hour each way each time, so he really made an extra effort to spend time with us.  He's a great young man, and we really did enjoy him.

Today we leave Chiang Mai and go to Chiang Rei for our last week.  I t doesn't feel like December at all, even though there are lots of lights up here.  Yesterday was the King's birthday, so there were many celebrations for that occasion--it was also Father's Day, National Day, ad Full Moon Festival.  Everyone in Thailand was having a party, with fireworks, hot air balloons. and food, food, and more food!  Thai food is delicious!  I thought I might lose some weight, but think the opposite has hapened.

Our tour director is the absolute best!  She goes the extra mile for us every day to make sure we see and exerience her country's true character.  She's also a veritable walking encyclopedia of history, customs, farming, cooking, elephant training, and anything else you might need or want to know!  And besides all that, she is really fun to be around, has a great sense of humor.

I tried to send an email a few days ago, but it didn't go.  And I tried and tried to log onto CP, finally got there this time, but the reply box wouldn't come up, so I think maybe the site was having problems.  So, Pat, feel free to share whatever portion of this you want with my CP friends.
