Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

Yea, a sword shall pierce through thy own soul also, that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.
Luke 2:35

Almost 34 years after Simeon uttered these words to Mary, she watched as her Son bled and died.  Then one of the soldiers with a spear pierced His side.

How these words must have resounded in Mary's mind at that very moment.

Her Son, Jesus, was dead. She had pondered so many things, so many times.

Suddenly through the sorrow, through the piercing sword--the words became real. The sword had pierced her own soul, too--and the thoughts were being revealed.

Her Son did come to save His people from their sins!

Her Son came to save His mother, too.

Her Son, her Saviour.
--R. M. B.

On Thy pierced and bleeding breast,
Thou dost bid the weary rest;
Rest there from the world's false ways,
rest there from its vanities.

Well, today is the day.......   We leave the house in about 3 hours for our plane.  We will be arriving at Nashville airport at 10:20pm from Chicago (hopefully).  We have an hour and a half to switch planes in Chicago, and I'm a little worried about that connection, but we will see.

So far the surprise is total, no one knows except Melanie's aunt who is going to be meeting us and driving us home.  We can't wait to see their faces when we knock on the door.

Also, my new camera is waiting for me....  My new Pentax *ist-DS  woohoo.
A watched clock never boils.

This is the first time I have posted in a topic for the next day. It's still Dec. 11th on the west coast. Kind of wierd to think that way.

Anyhow, I've got one week of school left. My sister is driving up from Oregon and my cousins from California. I'm looking forward to getting together with family again!

I've had my D70 for three days now and am just loving it! I'm glad I upgraded from the Sony. The Sony is now going into the family camera pool (which alreay consists of three cameras). Hopefully my mom will be able to learn the Sony. It is pretty simple to use in Auto. My dad loves the D70 coming from a Nikon SLR.

At chapel last week in my school, a youth pastor challenged us to read the Christmas story again before the holidays to remember the really reason of this time of year. I think I'll start on that.

Good night/morning everyone!

Skief--Congrats on the DSLR! You'll love it!

Pat

Ohh, Mike!  I'll be waiting anxiously for the news on how the surprise went.

Wow!  I'm excited for you as well.

Hi Ryan!  Yep.  It's tomorrow here on the east coast.  I'm so glad that you're enjoying your Nikon D70.  I'd sure love to have one.

"Click for Waterloo Wellington, Ontario Forecast"

Nita

Hi all.  It's still last night where I am.  :)  That does seems strange.  I agree with Ryan.   You are in tomorrow while I abide in your yesterday for awhile longer.  Ahhhhh technology. ;D

Sad news, frustrating news and happy news as I read the posts.

Papa John,  I'm so sorry about your brother in law.  I agree with Pat, we will pray he goes peacefully.  And for your family.

Larry, I don't like it one bit...the way things are going for you with the hospital.  Isn't that just the strangest thing?  I can't believe how unprofessional it seems they were.  I'm praying that you will get it all straightened out so that you can feel the peace you need and not the frustration.

Mike.....yours is such good news!  A surprise for your family and a new camera too!  Have a blessed Christmas with your family.

My daughter, Kim, has Meningococcal disease.  She is on antibiotics now, but the only reason she decided to go to the doctor was a sore throat the Lord blessed her with.  I sincerely mean that.  If not for the extremely painful and inflamed throat, she wouldn't have gone for a strep test.  The doctor wisely did two tests, and the second was positive.  She's tired and pale, but feeling better.  She didn't have any dangerous symptoms of Meningitis, so she will be fine.  Praise God.

Tbear, I love your graphics too.  I always look for some I might want to have on my computer. :)  Hope you don't mind.  I took the snowman/splat one.  I'm headed over to see what you've been cooking up.

Pat, I meant to tell you the last time  I was here.  I love the picture of you and Jack.

I need to run and get my puppies locked in for the night.  They sure keep me busy.....but they are little furballs of enjoyment.   God is so wise.  Puppies are work, but pure joy.  I love to watch them play, love their innocence.    I think God loves to watch us too.   It makes me want to play and live and walk in innocence so that I can bring Him enjoyment, and not sorrow.
love, nita

Here it is Sunday morning and I am ready to go out the door in a few minutes.

Papa John, I am sad to hear about Walker.  I am praying for comfort for Walker and all his loved ones.

Is Janet suppose to be home this weekend?  Can't wait to see some of her pictures.

I have to keep on walking when I see cameras in a store.  I think I am getting the bug but I can't afford the bug.... ::) ::)  There are so manythings that I need instead of a new camera.

Judy, I got your card yesterday and I have already told Ivalou that it was for her also.  And I will tell Jerry on the way to church.  Thank you very much for thinking of us this Christmas season.

 :)Good Morning to all!

We had a truly good time yeseterday at the concert in Myrtle Beach.  Only 2 of our church group couldn't make it and they gave their tickets to someone else.  The show is a mixture of all Christmas songs from "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer"  to "O Holly Night" .  I don't know the name of the last song that praised our LORD..but it ended the show with a mighty feeling of the Holy Spirit in that place.  I felt quite moved.

After the concert we went to eat a late lunch  (4 PM) and then on home..a 170 mile round trip.

A big thank you to Chris & Margit & Pat for help in finding the song.

Pat, your picture of you & Jack is really sweet.  I know you miss him terribly and especially during the holiday season.  You were truly blessed to have Jack as your life's partner.

Now I'm on to Sunday school and church.  Will try to catch up later with the missed posts.

A special prayer for Papa John's family.

Carol

Good Sunday to all.  I have attended so many holiday gatherings this week and yesterday was a very nice tea and choral singing.  Just amazed that we listened to actual Christmas music and even more amazing was that the big city of Denver had a two-hour Christmas concert.  It has been lovely to hear the music.  I mention this because my DIL teaches first grade there and this year is not allowed to mention Christmas, Hannukka, or Kwanza (I can only spell Christmas)- they used to talk about all three celebrations until this year.

Pat:  You still have that cold?  Take care!

Papa John:  Sorry for the worsening situation with Walker.
QuoteRom 8:28  And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

This is the greatest reminder of keeping faith.  Thank you for bringing it to my attention - it would be good to have this as a tattoo on my hand.

Etta Sue:  Love the cat climbing the Christmas tree - it has probably happened!

Good Morning one and all. I don't have to go to Fay's this morning to prepare her breakfast., she gave me the morning off. She is healing very well, the wound is closing up  and the nurse says in a couple of weeks it should be completely closed. That is Good news.

I went to vist with Gloria after work yesterday and she had pizza ready when I got there. She is doing well too, she will be back at church today.

This afternoon we are having our annual Holiday dinner at 4 PM. Turkey, Ham, Fried Chricken and all the trimmings. I plan on taking Fay her supper fromthe church.

I have been told that the interviews yesterday with the two prospects for Pastor went very well, One couple is 39 and has two small children, the other couple is older,(I met them after Thanksgiving) They are very nice also. Anyway both will be invitied to preach and to meet the congregation at a later date.

PapaJohn I am sorry to hear about Walker, I am praying for his comfort.

Time to get moving here on the West Coast,  Make my bed and get ready for church. I have to get my Sunday school book out of the car and read today's lesson. We are starting Thessalonians today I have must read First Thess., again this morning.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  I will have to make this short this morning as we need to leave for church in about 5 minutes.  We didn't go to Sunday School as Pat needed to help our daughter with a new piece of medical equipment we bought for her that we hope will help with the pain of the neuropathy.  She was in so much pain this morning that she was in tears.  This uses electrical stimulation of the nerves and she said it certainly felt good while she was using it but it will take a few weeks to see much improvement.  It won't restore the nerves but hopefully will help with the pain.

I didn't get back here yesterday as I had planned as was working on finding the midi recordings of the songs we use with the Calvin Cove group so that they can have music to sing by if I can't be there or at any other times.  I did a similar project after my Mother passed away for the nursing home using the large print choir book they use.  Sometimes they didn't have any one to accompany them in their chapel services.

Hope this is a good day for everyone.  I will try again later to get back and write a little more.  We will probably go out to lunch after church.

Pat

Larry, I'm so sorry about your daughter's pain.  Is this a T.E.N.S. unit?  I found that so helpful when I suffered with all of that neck pain for years.  I still get it out from time to time and use it.

Morning!

Awesome that folks are getting new cameras.  To bad we can have a fun day together learning how to use them. Oh well.  Hope you both enjoy them.

I love the graphic, Etta Sue

Great devotion, Pat!

Sounds like you had an awesome time, Carol!  I would have loved to gone.

I am going to get ready for church.  Hope you all have a wonderful Sunday!

The physical therapy I had last year that helped with my right leg also involved a T.E.N.S. unit. Felt much better.

Larry, I understand your daughter's pain. I think I mentioned that the medication the doctor has me on is to help with the neuropathy. Not a fun thing to have to live with, that I can say with certainty!

Skief, enjoy your visit-sorry I was out of town, for most certainly I would have also come to the airport to greet you. Maybe on your way back home??? Please let me know so I can make plans.

My little baby Georgia as now chattering in her own "language" nonstop - but she has found a sound for me - right now it's "ooo-mah." What a cutie. The first time she saw me, she came running as fast as her short little legs would take her with arms outstretched to be picked up and loved. I can only imagine myself right after arrival in heaven running to my Lord for just such an embrace.

Kassie is SO excited about her Christmas program tonight. I can't wait until time to go to church.

Y'all have a good day. I'll be spending the night, but leaving about 5 a.m. tomorrow morning. I'm worried because my son won't be awake, and I'll have to put that big dog carrier into the back of my pickup truck by myself - quite difficult. So, I imagine I'll be pretty tired after driving 5 hours, then working 8 or more hours tomorrow. Driving down yesterday and then getting dogs put in the pen in the back of the lot was also hard and caused my legs and back to ache terribly, so I was thankful to sit on the couch, legs resting on the footrest, and "veg" last evening.

I love y'all.

We studied in Psalms 67 today.  Interesting verses.

Everyone must still be at church.

Hi Ruth Ann! We are having our Christmas program tonight too.  I am pretty excited.  Hope you have a great time.

I am going to snoop in the other forums.

Larry Hanna ~ Is that a TENS unit that you bought. It is the same as accupunture if it is, only it uses electric instead of the needles. I have my second TENS unit, but I liked my old one better than my new one. When they operated on me for cancer, they put TENS pads beside my cut (By lateral incesion) and I didn't have to use pain pills. It was great. I am sold on Tens units. After reading the rest of the posts, I see I am not the only one familar with the TENS unit.

Kathy

I guess I am the only one not familiar with the TENS unit.  So will look it up and then be better informed.  Sounds like a miracle unit.

Off to church for our Christmas Cantata.  No robes for us this year. We will be wearing the white long-sleeved shirts and blouses with black pants.   There are so many different Christmas programs and I wish I could see them all.

Kathy  ~ You aren't the only one that is unfamilar with the TENS units. If you do look it up, you will be surprised at what all it will do. You can use it anywhere except on the neck area. As I said I am really sold on it. ;)

Hi Everyone...

Here I am.  Nice to read all your posts.  It's snowing quite heavily here right now but it's so pretty on the trees.

T.E.N.S. units or Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulators are wonderful when pain meds just fail.  I've been using one since 1979 when I had a very serious whip lash accident while teaching bus driving.

Papa John

My, brother-in-law, Walker, died about 4:15 this afternoon. He had had a hard time the last few days and his passing on was expected. He and my sister, Genevieve, had been married for 63 years. They have lived here in Nashville most of these years. He was a good man. They have three sons and two of them live here in Nashville so my sister will have some good help to make this transition in here life.   He was a good Christian man  whose faith never wavered.  It was time, and God called him home.

Rev 14:13  And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.  (KJV)

Thank you all for your prayers.

I had a TENS unit when I flew off a motorcycle head first and landed flat of my back in an orchard. It sure helped me with the pain. I could use another one for the upper back pain and the pain in myleft arm, that gets so bad I can't get my arm up to brush my hair.

Hi everyone.  It is almost 11 pm so I won't make this too long.  I spent the evening working on my midi project and have located most of the songs I need.  The next phase will be to format them to the courses, taking out long intros, etc. so they go with the song sheets.  This is not going to be a quick project.

We had a good church service and think our minister could have gone on for another 30 minutes with her sermon.  After the service 10 of us went to the Chinese place for lunch and then I came home and took a nap.

The equipment I mentioned we had ordered for our daughter is called a Rebuilder and it is more than a t.e.n.s. unit (she already has one of those).  Here is a link that compare the two units:
Quotehttp://www.rebuildermedical.com/TENS_vs_ReBuilder.asp
She used it this morning but just told me to send it back as she can't stand the pain that it seems to cause.  We certainly are not going to keep it if she isn't going to use it.  She has not been able to stand the use of a t.e.n.s. unit on her legs and feet either.

Papa John, it is always sad when we lose a good person but it certainly sounds like he was ready to go home.  It sounds like your sister is surrounded by loving family.

Pat, I don't envy you the stormy weather.  It sounds like winter is making an appearance.  We are supposed to get down into the low 20's  on Monday evening but no snow.  Hope you are feeling better and can stay in from the snow.

Marilyn, that is a very nice card you have created.

Ruth Ann, hope you have a good trip back in the morning.

Time to say good night.

Nita

Pat, your weather sounds like serious winter!  Stay warm and well, hon.  OR.....get well quick and get out to take pictures. lol

Marilyn, your family photo Christmas tree is really cute.

Every time I've come to CP the last two days, I've watched for news of Walker.  I know the famiily will miss him, but oh, glory.....just beyond, he will awake, being welcomed into his heavenly home.  No more pain for this dear brother.....only joy forever more.  Papa John, it's good that your sis has lots of family near to help her now.   I prayed for all of you last night, and will continue.  I know we're all holding your family up now.

TBear....thanks for your message.  Please continue to post your neat graphics, so I can keep borrowing them. :)  I like little animated ones.......I insert them into email for my family.
Thanks again.

Larry, I remember the pain my mom went through with her neuropathy.  I felt so bad for her.  Anything touching her feet would cause pain.  Some days were worse than others.  I sure feel for your daughter.  Her life can't be easy.

Hi to everyone I didn't mention by name.
