JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

  • Absolute Surrender  by Andrew Murray (Read the whole book online!)   Andrew Murray (1828-1917) was an amazingly prolific Christian author. He lived and ministered as both a pastor and a writer from the towns and villages of South Africa. All of his publications were originally written in Dutch and then translated into English. As his popularity grew, Murray's books found their way into more than twelve foreign languages during his lifetime alone.

      Morning Devotional...

      He called the name of that place Beth-el.
      Gen.  28:19

      He built there an altar, and called the place El-beth-el.
      Gen 35:7

      When God spoke to Jacob at a place called Luz, Jacob changed the name to Beth-el, the "house of God".

      Through the many years that followed, God proved Himself wholly faithful to Jacob. He was even able to say that he had seen God face to face (Gen. 32:30).

      Returning to Beth-el, Jacob changed the name to "El-beth-el", "The God of the House of God". Jacob realized the importance of The Person rather than The Place.

      Surely we will never forget the Place called Calvary, but oh to be occupied with the Person called Christ!
      -A. Fiebig

      My heart is full of Christ, and longs
      its glorious matter to declare,
      Of Him I make my loftier songs
      and cannot from His praise forbear.

      Thanks everyone, (Iain, Larry Hanna, Etta Sue, and of course Pat Scott)  sorry I haven't been here to much lately. Where I also am a mod, we have been dealing with trolls. That and I have been listening to the sounds, I've never heard before. It is simply amazing what you all hear. I've heard my cats, dogs,cattle, horses, cars, ect., ect.  I now know what you all have been hearing for years. This is such a new and wonderful gift God, has given me. I am still trying to sort, everything out.

      I will try and let you all know what happens at Chruch tommorrow. See right now, it's only 11:48 pm.,saturday.

      I am hoping it isn't as bad on the roads as predicted.  I am ready to get my coat on and try it.  If I am back online soon you will know that it is too rough out there to try the 25 mile drive to church.

      Have a great GodDay!

      I am back in the house....my car battery is dead.  When I started it yesterday, it didn't want to start.  But I probably didn't run it long enough to charge it up good.  So I called the head of the Audio/Visual team at church and told him I wouldn't be there nor Jerry.  I called Jerry and told him I wasn't going.  I sent a V-Text to my son to come put the battery charger on the car for me.  I have never done that so I would be afraid to do it for fear I would be doing it wrong.  Then Ivalou called me and now I am going to church with her.  I called Tony on the phone .... woke him up and told him I wouldn't be home until 1 p.m....there is going to be a dinner at Ivalou's church after church.  Then I had someone else call me while talking to Tony....call waiting.  It was Jerry.  His car started so he is going to go to church after all.  Busy morning.

      Whew
      !

      Marilyn

      Etta Sue I will give you the instructions to putting the battery charger on your car.
      1. open the hood
      2. Put the red clamp on the positive post ( the one with the + on the top)
      3. put the black clamp on the other post (or ground it to anything metal like the hood or something)
      4. plug in the charger and turn it on.

      You need to learn how to do it yourself, what if you couldn't get in touch with anyone. I know, I know you would call AAA. We single women need to know these things.No need to be afraid.  ;D

      Got to get ready for church now.

      Hi everyone.  We didn't blow away in the strong wind last night and after a very foggy day yesterday it is bright and sunny, but cold this morning.  Pat and I will be headed to Sunday School and church in a few minutes and will probably go out to lunch with some of our friends.

      Etta Sue, those car batteries don't like the cold and seem to go down in the worst of weather.  Glad you will be able to get to church.  I was watching the news this morning and they were showing the blizzard conditions now in the northeast.  Makes me very glad that I live in Georgia.

      Maryland, next year you might want to save yourself some money on the taxes and use something called Tax Act.  They have a free version that I have used for several years and you can then print out your tax return.  You can also file e-tax for a small fee.  I know what you met about it being a good feeling when that is behind you each year.  I am still waiting for some of the documents I need to file our returns.

      Bob, those of us that have never experienced a hearing loss probably can't begin to know the joy you are experiencing in hearing sounds you haven't heard in a long time, if ever.  I guess it would be like going into a candy store.

      Hope everyone has a great Sunday.  This afternoon I will be watching the Atlanta Falcons play football.  I don't envy those folks that will be attending the game and sitting out in the cold.  I just don't understand that mentality.

      Good morning everyone!

      I am off to church like the rest of you.

      Etta Sue, glad you made it to church.

      It is supposed to get up to at least :o 50 degrees out. :o Wow! I don't remember it ever being that warm in these parts in January.  I think I will go take pictures after church. ;D

      It was 14.6 degrees when I got up this morning.  brrrrrr.  Enjoy the 50's soni!!  It is supposed to be up towards 40 tomorrow.

      We had alot of wind last night, but not too much snow.  Only about an inch.  Of course, the wind was blowing so hard the snow didn't hardly have a chance to touch the ground.  Somewhere in NC, there is probably a monster snow drift where it all piled up.

      We didn't have church this morning or this evening.  Not sure if it was the frigid air, the snow, or the ice that seems to be on the road under the snow. <wink>  Some of the men of the church discovered a week or so ago that someone was stealing our oil, so we may not even have heat at the church.

      Sad, isn't it.  Those exact same people could tell us they needed oil, and we would probably buy it for them, but they choose to steal it, making many suffer.  <shudder>

      have a good day.  I'm trying to stay at the 'puter as little as possible because sitting with my feet on the floor makes them swell really bad.  So, I'm off to put my feet back up!!

      Good Afternoon from the home of TBEAR !!
      Well, it's about 8 degrees here in our little part of the world & sure is cold outside.  Well, we sure had our share of snow yesterday & now it has gone up the coast to wear my parents are so please keep them in prayer. They are in New Hampshire I hopefully will get a call to them today and see how they are doing.

      Other then that I am doing well. We did away with some of the snow in our driveway yesterday but it seem to blow all over the place last night with drifts all over. I hope to get some pictures up later today or tomorrow to show everyone.

      So, I have housework to do ... so I am going to say GOOD BYE for right now but I might be back later so take care & I will return tomorrow with my fancy pictures and all so take care & have a wonderful ... warm ... blessed day everyone !![/b]

      Etta Sue

      I am back home now.

      What a wonderful service at Ivalou's church.  I probably know more people at her church than my own.  They give out a lot of love and hugs at Ivalou's church.  As I was getting ready, I was listening to the radio and people were calling in to say when they think of heaven, what they think about.  The sermon was about heaven.  Then on the radio, the song 'I Can Only Imagine' was sung.  At church, my neighbors grandson sang, 'I Can Only Imagine'....better than on the radio, too.  Then a neighbor was asked to give prayer and she mentioned in her morning devotion it was about a little girl asking her grandmother about heaven and wanted to go NOW!  I read that same devotion.  So it seems everything was double this morning.  How kewl is that?

      They eliminated Sunday School today and right after church, all was invited to attend a Missionary lunch of Chili and all the fixin's.  About 12-15 from this small church is going to Mexico in June on a missionary trip.  The lunch was to help raise money for the one's going.  Really nice lunch and wonderful conversations.

      When we were coming down my road, I noticed that Tony was here.  He charged my car with my battery charger...and yes, Marilyn, he told me how to do it the next time...exactly like you said.  My problem will be if I don't have to do it until a couple of years from now, I won't remember again.  I need to type out the instructions and seal it in plastic and hang it in my garage.  But if I couldn't have gotten Tony to come do it, I am sure that all I needed to do was mention it at the church this morning and one of those gracious men would have been here in a minute.  Anyway, Tony seems to think that my dome light was on.  I don't remember of hitting it or anything but maybe I did and didn't notice.  He said while the battery was charging, he noticed the dome light was on and turned it off.  Oh, well!

      It has been a busy, unusual Sunday and I feel a nap coming on....ZZZZzzzzzz!

      Personal Life: It May Not Be Convenient

      But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I
      have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified.
      --1 Corinthians 9:27

      What must our Lord think of us if His work and His witness depend
      upon the convenience of His people? The truth is that every advance
      that we make for God and for His cause must be made at our
      inconvenience. If it does not inconvenience us at all, there is no
      cross in it! If we have been able to reduce spirituality to a
      smooth pattern and it costs us nothing--no disturbance, no bother
      and no element of sacrifice in it--we are not getting anywhere with
      God. We have stopped and pitched our unworthy tent halfway between
      the swamp and the peak.

      We are mediocre Christians!

      Was there ever a cross that was convenient? Was there ever a
      convenient way to die? I have never heard of any, and judgment is
      not going to be a matter of convenience, either! Yet we look around
      for convenience, thinking we can reach the mountain peak
      conveniently and without trouble or danger to ourselves.

      Actually, mountain climbers are always in peril and they are always
      advancing at their inconvenience.  I Talk Back to the Devil, 48.

      "Lord, I don't know what You have in store for me today, in Your
      sovereign plan for my life. Help me to serve You faithfully, with
      full discipline, whether it's convenient or not. Amen."

      EttaSue, an old trick if cold weather is expected is to lift the bonnet and lay a heavy old coat or blanket over the engine, then it will start better, but leave yourself a note about it!!
      I once had to untangle a coat from my fanbelt. lol

      Janet

      Happy Sunday, Y'all!  We did go to church this morning, even Beth!  We missed Sunday School, or most of it, because my sister from upstate was here, along with her son and daughter, and her son's wife were here, and were going to be leaving very soon.  So we went in to my other sister's to visit them a bit.  They were in the area for a family wedding, one of my great nieces.

      Beth is feeling a lot better today, and we are thankful for that.  They had her come to the front of the church, annointed her with oil and prayed for her.  We are putting all our faith in God, knowing He will do the very best for Beth.

      Our church was saddened and very disappointed this week when the pastor who had accepted the call to our church, called and said he isn't coming after all.  But we know that God has even better things in store for us, so we will go forward with joy and confidence, knowing He does all things well.

      Abby brought a beautiful red velvet dress with "sparkles" to wear to church, but when she got dressed, she said "Oh!  I forgot the importantest part!  I forgot my Sunday shoes!"  She put her sneakers on, looked in the mirror and started crying.  I told her to just wear her slacks, it would be just fine, I didn't want her to be uncomfortable and think she looked bad.  So she wore pants, and when we got to church, every little girl her age also was wearing pants.  God is good!

      Beth put a roast on this morning, so Abby is eating lunch with her.  I need to go see what the refrigerator holds for me!  ;)

      Larry, the hospital is 200 miles from us, I will be staying the entire time with Beth.  Her older sister (Abby's Mom) is going with me for the first 2 or 3 days, because Darrel has a job he must complete on Friday.  Then Darrel will come down and switch places with Diane, as she has a family and a store and many responsibilities at home.  I don't mind being there alone, but I need a car!  And I really am happy that I will have Diane or Darrel with me for support.  Thank you, God, for caring family---and friends, too.

      I'm going over to see how many have looked at the photos I posted yesterday.  Be back after a while.

      Beth -- You are correct.  Killing the bird is no way to prepare for selling it.  heheh.  I'm glad to see you are in good spirits.  I am praying for you as you prepare for this surgery.  Jesus is the Great Physician, and I am praying that He is the head of your surgical team.

      Still cold here.  But i think it is up to the 20s now. :-)

      Just rushing around here as I want to attend the evening service and it's in 35 minutes so...

      This is a hymn we sang this morning in church and it sure causes you to think, doesn't it?

      Cleanse Me
      (Click to hear music)

      Search me, O God, and know my heart today;
      Try me, O Savior, know my thoughts I pray.
      See if there be some wicked way in me;
      Cleanse me from ev'ry sin and set me free.

      I praise Thee, Lord, for cleansing me from sin;
      Fulfill Thy Word and make me pure within.
      Fill me with fie where once I burned with shame;
      Grant my desire to magnify Thy name.

      Lord, take my life and make it wholly Thine;
      Fill my poor heart with Thy great love divine.
      Take all my will, my passion, self and pride;
      I now surrender, Lord--in me abide.

      O Holy Ghost, revival comes from Thee;
      Send a revival--start the work in me.
      Thy Word declares Thou wilt supply our need;
      For blessings now, O Lord, I humbly plead.

      Bob - I wanted to ask Janet's question...was your hearing loss a recent thing?

      I am so thrilled for you...and I am thanking the Lord right along with you!

      I really missed going to church this morning too.  Norm and I are still just getting over the flu, and we thought it wise to stay indoors.  I do miss the fellowship though

      Beth, so good to see your very positive posting today.  Glad you were able to attend church today.

      Bob, that is just amazing that you have never been able to hear as you do now.  It certainly is a miracle.  I know your heart was gladened to see the doctor attending church with you.  He must be a man of his word.

      Welcome djyeo.  We are happy to have you here on CP.

      We had a wonderful church service this morning and then three others joined Pat and I at a new place we hadn't eaten before.  It was so nice as there were a brother and sister (older folks) who were playing and singing gospel songs and then sang a few old time songs.  This was a buffet and the food was homemade and very reasonable.  I hope the place survives as this is about the 4th ownership in the past couple of years.

      Janet

      Please PRAY---we just received news a few minutes ago that Beth's dad passed away this afternoon in his sleep.  Gunther was my first husband and the father of my children.  Beth is devastated; and they are trying to plan the funeral so as not to have to postpone Beth's surgery, and allow her to attend.

      Tempted and tried we're oft made to wonder
      Why it should be thus all the day long.
      While there are others living about us,
      Never molested though in the wrong.
      Farther along we'll know all about it,
      Farther along we'll understand why;
      Cheer up, my brother, live in the sunshine,
      We'll understand it all by and by.

      When death has come and taken our loved ones,
      It leaves our home so lonely and drear;
      Then do we wonder why others prosper,
      Living so wicked year after year.
      Farther along we'll know all about it,
      Farther along we'll understand why;
      Cheer up, my brother, live in the sunshine,
      We'll understand it all by and by.

      Faithful till death said our loving Master.
      A few more days to labor and wait;
      Toils of the road will then seem as nothing
      As we sweep through the beautiful gate.
      Farther along we'll know all about it,
      Farther along we'll understand why;
      Cheer up, my brother, live in the sunshine,
      We'll understand it all by and by.

      When we see Jesus coming in glory,
      When He comes from His home in the sky;
      Then we shall meet Him in that bright mansion
      We'll understand it all by and by.
      Farther along we'll know all about it,
      Farther along we'll understand why;
      Cheer up, my brother, live in the sunshine,
      We'll understand it all by and by.
