Don: Hey Judy, It's been a long time. Hope you are doing well. 2024-12-02, 22:41:41

JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Oldiesmann: So sorry for your loss Carol. Praying for you and your family :( 2022-05-01, 17:13:05

 NOAH'S CARPENTERS

A lady who took part regularly in the activities of her church as a Sunday School teacher, choir member, etc. was one day traveling in a train where she got into conversation with an earnest Christian worker.  As they talked about spiritual things, the good man realized that there was a lack in this lady's spiritual life in spite of all her efforts for the church.  Suddenly he asked, "Can you tell me what became of Noah's carpenters?"  "No," she replied, "I don't think I have ever thought about it."  "Well," said the man, "Noah must have had helpers in the building of the ark, but they were not saved in the ark."

As he spoke it dawned upon the lady that this had been her position.  She had been working so hard for the church and its ministry in seeking the lost, while she herself had no experiential knowledge of Jesus Christ as her own personal Savior.  As a result of this incident, she was converted.  Here is a lesson for all.  Activity in the things of God is no substitute for a personal heart knowledge of Jesus Christ.  Just as Noah and his family needed to be in the ark to be saved, so we must be "in Christ Jesus" if we are to escapee the judgment of God upon sin.

The burden of sin will ultimately crush those who do not leave it at the foot of the cross.

Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven whereby we must be saved. Acts 4:12

Good Morning Ladies & Gentleman ... Well, I'm finally here. As I wanted to take a little bit of time off & be away from the computer but I did pop in yesterday to say hello to all of you. So, I pray that this finds everyone well. We are all doing well however my husband was a bit under the weather on Sunday & Monday but he finally decided that it was time to see the Doctor & that he did yesterday with me in the drivers seat. So, she told him to just rest & drink plenty of fluids & so that he did & so he is doing much better today an has returned to work so that FREES UP the computer so that I can get caught up with my friends.

Other then that we awoke to another morning of DENSE FOG which means yet another delay for my daughter but it was so bad that they closed school down yesterday so I am guessing that it might just happen today too & then the weather is suppose to be the same tomorrow - GROUND HOG DAY so we will just have to wait & see what happens.

Well, better go & I'll return later to open the MENU of the DAY up so stay tuned so take care & thanks everyone for all the prayers on behalf of my friend's husband. I do miss her but I know that she is in a much better place & that she is no more pain either. So, continue to keep her husband in prayer through this time !!

JUDY McK:  Thank you for the kind words.  I've been in and out of CP, looking and learning.

I think it was my pastor who made the comment I posted yesterday: "God never says "It just occurred to me.' " Since he already knows everything, why would we think that something "just occurred to him."  It kinda helps put things into prospective when we are going through hard times....He already knows it and is waiting for us to ask him for help.

Fast Eddie - you have finally gotten through  to me!  My curiosity will now be evident.  Where or why did the adjective "fast" come into your name?  How fast?  Where fast?  Why fasts?  Why not fast?

Janet - the devotional is so true.  There used to be a little pamphlet titled "The Tyranny of the Urgent."  People can even become Bible scholars without every relating to the Bible's subject.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  I wanted to stop by early today as have several things I want to get done today, including my taxes and paying bills.  Fortunately I don't have to go out again today as have no commitments requiring me to be away.  I like a day like that occasionally.

Janet, what a supurb devotional that you posted today.  How true it is that we can get so busy working in the church but miss the purpose of being there.

Tbear, are your roads still icy?  I am surprised that the schools would close because of the fog unless it was so thick that it is unsafe for the buses to be on the road.  About all the signs of our weekend ice storm seem to be gone and they expected to have the power fully restored by midnight last night.

Hope everyone will have a good day and that Beth, Pam, Nita and others who are ailing or recovering from surgery will be feeling better today.

Marilyn

Good Morning.

Thank you Janet and Judy Mc for pointing out that I have spelled my own name wrong. I will remake that signature when I have more time. Right now I have to get going to work.

Thanks Janet...  Wonderful message for all of us today.

It's a beautiful sunny day here today in Guelph and we had freezing fog on the trees this morning and it was so beautiful.

I have a very busy day ahead of myself.  But I shall return.

Marilyn--- ;) Have a good day, girl!

Thank you, Al and Larry.  I know I sometimes get far too busy with "busy work" and put off time with the Lord, then when I try to read the Word and pray, I fall asleep. :-[

Beth is still very tired, but thinks the headache is a little less today.  I need to go out and take her something to eat; she isn't up to cooking anything yet.  She wanted to come online and thank you all, but is having computer problems again and can't sit up for very long, as being upright makes her head hurt worse.  But she has expressed to me how much all of your prayers mean to her, and that she could tell many were praying for her.

I am about a week behind with my work, so guess I will be about getting started on it.  I also need to go to Hugoton to pick up some framing orders---and to see Abby, of course!  ;D

Hi there, Pat!  What is freezing fox on the trees?  I have never heard that expression before.  It was a winter wonderland here yesterday, just so beautiful!  I was out taking pictures before the sun came up, and marvelling at the works of God's hands.  I must get those ready and post some.

Talk to you all later!

Fast Eddie - you have finally gotten through  to me!  My curiosity will now be evident.  Where or why did the adjective "fast" come into your name?  How fast?  Where fast?  Why fasts?  Why not fast?

On a number of other sites I have tried to use my given name or abbreviations of it (Edward, Eddie, Ed) only to find they were already in use.  I didn't want to be Ed3 or Edward3....  I would have a hard time remembering my number, so I use Fast Eddie.

It is a name I picked up while working....not that I was fast or slow.  Sometimes guys hang a monacker on you for no apparent reason.  I suspect though it is from the movie (The Hustler) that Paul Newman and Jackie Gleason played a couple of pool sharks.  Newman's character was Fast Eddie Fengler.

The movie was playing around the time that my nickname came along.   In the days BC (before Christ) I shot a lot of pool and won more than my share of eightball games

Until the Internet came along, I had never used that name.  Later on it came in handy.  Believe it or not, sometimes when I enter that nickname, it reminds me of where I came from and where I am now.........so I keep it if for no other reason than that.

Now you know "The Rest Of The Story."

Hey Etta ... I want a copy of the new picture !! Be sure to e mail me one ok ?

note to Larry ... the roads are not icy it's just that we have had 2 straight days and maybe even another tomorrow of very dense fog ... which I hate to drive in because of school & so I take my daughter to & from school every day. Which yesterday we closed & that was a big blessing but they had just a delay today but we will be waiting to see what tomorow will bring us ...

I know all of you are just dying to see my Electric Fireplace.  So I have provided a clickable for you to see it.  Electric Fireplace.

Marilyn ~ I like your signature now.  That is a hoot!  ;D  Misspelling your own name.   ::) Sounds like something that I would do.

Janet ~ A great devotional.  I am praying that Beth's headaches go bye-bye soon.  Also that John's mother has a complete recovery from her upcoming surgery.  And also that YOU get plenty of rest so you can face your multitude of activities soon.

Pat ~ Is freezing fox like frost on everything?  Hoar frost?

Larry ~ I started having my taxes done by someone else.  Got to be to 'taxing' on my little brain to do them myself.  But I don't have all the papers in yet.  Hope you have a restful day....

Al ~ Good morning.  I hope someday I can meet you.  You seem to be my kind of guy.  You can be serious...you can be thoughtful...you can be humorus!  Yeah, I'd like to meet ya!

Fast Eddie ~ What a great quote of your pastor...."God never says 'It just occurred to me.' "  I can only imagine the list of things that we say in general that God wouldn't never have to say.

TBear ~ Glad to see you back.  Hope your DH is feeling much better and able to go back to work.  I don't know if our mornings have been foggy or not.  When you are retired, it isn't necessary to get up before daylight appears.  At least, that is my thought.   :o  I only set the alarm for Wednesdays...trash day and Sunday...God's day.

I am enjoying my Fireplace.  I turned down the thermostat on the furnace and the temperature here in the utility room has went up 2 degrees since turning the thermostat down.  So the Electric Fireplace has to be helping.  The living room is a lot warmer also.  The only thing else I have done is turn on the ceiling fan in my bedroom so it takes the air up...to pull the heat through the house.

Thanks for the devotional. The girls started school yesterday and I'm off work for a few days, so have a little time to "ponder".
Before I came in here and read the devotion I was in my garage and heard a noise out front. I immediately turned my head and looked behind me instead of front, because there's a window there and I knew that I could more easily see what was going on out front because the reflection covers the whole scene in front of my house, while looking ahead the side of the house and the duplex beside it only gives a narrow view.
I laughed to myself at the automatic reaction of looking backwards to see what was in front of me, and it occurred to me that when my spiritual life isn't too hot and I'm feeling down (like recently)I have to do the same thing. If I only look ahead I can only see with limited vision, but if I look backwards and see where I was in comparison, very often I'll find that I can see a much broader (and much more pleasant) view of what's ahead.
Of course there's the once in a while occasions when looking back sends you running and screaming like a mad person for cover, hehe, but for the most part...well, you should have my point by now, gotta save some words for later...like I tell my kids, we're limited to only so many possible words in one day, so don't use them all at once. ;)

I like those words and needed to hear them today --your posting helped me so very much.

I'm back from Beth's, got her laundry caught up, checked her wound and called the doctor about it, just to be sure it didn't need attention.  It has no bandage of any kind on it, and I was a little concerned.  She will get the stitches out in two more weeks.  She is still hurting, very stiff and sore; but I "made" her get up and walk a little.  Doctor's orders!  And encouraged her to turn her head a little, even though it hurts.  Can't have everything getting stiff!

She was on the phone with John when I left.  He is taking the rest of this week off work to be with his Mom while she has her surgery.  I pray all goes well there.

Darrel got out his pasta machine and is busy "cranking out noodles!"  Bet I know what's for supper tonight! ;D

The Holy Spirit: The Eternal Spirit

But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you;
and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and
Samaria, and to the end of the earth.
--Acts 1:8

You know, the Church started out with a Bible, then it got a
hymnbook, and for years that was it--a Bible and a hymnbook. The
average church now certainly wouldn't be able to operate on just a
hymnbook and the Bible. Now we have to have all kinds of truck. A
lot of people couldn't serve God at all without at least a vanload
of equipment to keep them happy.

Some of these attractions that we have to win people and keep them
coming may be fine or they may be cheap. They may be elevated or
they may be degrading. They may be artistic or they may be coarse--
it all depends upon who is running the show! But the Holy Spirit is
not the center of attraction, and the Lord is not the one who is in
charge. We bring in all sorts of antiscriptural and unscriptural
claptrap to keep the people happy and keep them coming.

As I see it, the great woe is not the presence of these religious
toys and trifles--but the fact that they have become a necessity,
and the presence of the Eternal Spirit is not in our midst!  The
Counselor, 41.

"Lord, we've been taught good methods in Seminary; we've emphasized
the need to be technologically up-to-date to reach our generation.
As I do indeed commit myself to excellence in reaching people for
Christ, help me to remember that the power is not in the methods or
the means, but in the Person of the Holy Spirit. Amen."

Ruth Ann Bice

Hi, friends,

Didn't feel wonderful today, so went to work 30 minutes late and left about an hour early.

I thought I'd say hello and to thank Janet for the beautiful devotional.

I don't always comment on the wonderful work our moderators do here with the devotionals, but certainly each one sets me to thinking on a train of though that leads me to prayer.

Pam seems better today. This is the first day that her voice sounds stronger and she seemed more optimistic.

It's good to hear Beth's news, as well. My prayers continue for each of our requests, and have added John's mother to my list as well.

Y'all have a good afternoon.

Ruth Ann

Nice of you to say!  Now, about you.  Yes, you.  Etta Sue, Etta Sue, thatsa new you, thatsa new you!  I like the new picture - it's a nice new fixture - itsa you, itsa you, itsa you!

Hello everyone
I am just on here to say hello.  I have not been on for a few days as I have been awfully busy.  I am on my way out shortly to my house group meeting but I hope to get on later tonight to catch up!

Judy McKenna

Good to see Cindy posting...is Pat right - are you the Cindy that was here awhile back?

Etta Sue:  Love your fireplace.  Just for you. - I hope we - oops, I mean YOU get freezing weather, so you can enjoy it even more! :D  and that is a nice new photo too.

Beth:  Glad Mom is making you get up and move.  I know its hard, but it really is necessary. :(...ooh - it does hurt, dosen't it. :'(

TBEAR:  Glad you are back - I've missed you.  On Sunday, I am going to make your Sloppy Joe receipe, for the Super Bowl game.  DH and I will have a "movie theatre - dinner night in the family room, so he can watch the game.  Of course, we are hoping the Eagles win!

Did anyone happen to seeCharles Stanley on Sunday?  What a phenominal speaker he is!  We get his program Sunday night at 8:pm.  I try not to miss him., as we don't have a Sunday night service.  It just dosen't seem like Sunday's when there is no evening service.  Thats my opinion, anyway.

Have a good rest of the evening.

- Judy M.

ps - Fast Eddie.... I loved your explanation on how you named yourself FAST!!
"I am too blessed to be stressed".

Carol

How nice to see the good news that Pam & Beth are farther along in recovery.  Sorry to learn about John and his mother's health problems.  I believe Janice wrote about her nephew's son having a transplant that is still going well.  Many praise notes in here today.

Chris:  I enjoyed reading the message about the changes in the church of today - when the church was basic and true with the bible - hymn book and few flourishes.  The mega church going in our area has popcorn, coffee shop, and I can't tell you what they have but they do have a huge membership of young people and even some of the middle-age in our church have gone and stayed there after visiting.  It looks attractive.  Perhaps there will be a swing back to basics someday.

Carol

Remember to help Pat by looking at the advertizing - it just takes a minute of your time.

Hello all!

We've had kinda a lazy day here at the Shuford house.  I'm just trying to rest before next week.

If anyone missed it -- my labor should be induced next Tuesday, Feb. 8th, unless i go before then.  And I remember someone asking her name

Tyra Kristiana Shuford

Well, I got supper dishes and stuff to do before I start getting little guy ready for bed, so ta ta for now~~

Thought I would stop back by and catch up on the postings.  Etta Sue, that is quite a fireplace.  I really like it.

I did work on my taxes today only to find I didn't have two necessary documents and probably won't have one of them until around the first of March.  Since we have a refund due I sure don't like waiting to do complete them but have no choice.

Liz

Nice devotional, thanks Janet.  Glad that Beth is getting stronger.

This has been a quiet day of housework and laundry.  Had planned to do some art work but the day went really fast.  Seems some days the cats keep wanting attention and Squeek was being especially ornery today!  And so it goes......

Did anyone see Larry King this evening?  He had on what was billed as America's Top Evangelicals.  Consisted of:  Bishop T.D. Jakes, Franklin Graham, Brian McLaren, Rev. Tim LaHaye and Beverly LaHaye.  Interesting program and interesting phone calls.  Worth catching the repeat if you can get that in your area.

Love your new fireplace, Etta Sue.  It looks cozy and warm.  So did Jerry!  Squeek loves the gas fireplace, but I keep moving her as it is so warm and makes her lazy.  Can relate to that...

Time to fold some clothes and bring Misty in for a visit.  She loves to sit on my lap and watch TV.  We are happy that her weight has increased and I plan to buy a bigger bell for her collar...the two things should slow down her bird hunting in the yard.  Too slow and noisy to surprise them ;D

Pleasant evening and God Bless.
Liz

Greetings from the great state of South Carolina...

WOW - What a surprise it was to pop in and see so many familiar faces still here.  It really was heart warming. ;)
I enjoyed "catching up' on what has been going on with everyone.

The site looks amazing - nice job to all.  Eventhough I've never had the time to hang out as much as I would like, I would have been so dissapointed if you guys hadn't been here when I came "alookin."
