Hello again, and thanks for ALL the welcomes!

I would like to introduce myself.  My name is Ursula Abresch.  I was born in Argentina, and, after many detours, ended up in Ottawa, Canada.  I am married, my husband and I have five children (Martin is 25, Mariana is 22, Jonathan is 19, Laura is 16, and Ximena is eight years old).

We are members of Familia de Dios (Family of God) Lutheran Church in Ottawa/Gatineau, where my husband is the Pastor.  Before being called to Ottawa, my husband was pastor at St. Luke Lutheran in Worland, Wyoming, and before that he was missionary on the Northern Arapaho Reservation (close to Riverton, Wyoming).

At Familia de Dios we worship in Spanish, as most of our members are immigrants to Canada from places such as Nicaragua, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Colombia, and others.  The church is in Gatineau, which is actually in Quebec (not Ontario), so we're surrounded by French.  I'm trying to learn French, but it's proven difficult, because most of the French speakers I've met are bilingual (French and English) and very polite, and as soon as they realize French is not my first language (which usually is right away), they switch to English.  Oh well.

OK, I won't bore anyone more than needed!  It's good to find this site.

Thanks for telling us a bit about yourself, Ursula!  I hope you'll feel very welcome here.

All to Jesus, I surrender;
All to Him I freely give;
I will ever love and trust Him,
In His presence daily live.

Refrain

I surrender all, I surrender all,
All to Thee, my blessèd Savior,
I surrender all.

All to Jesus I surrender;
Humbly at His feet I bow,
Worldly pleasures all forsaken;
Take me, Jesus, take me now.

Refrain

All to Jesus, I surrender;
Make me, Savior, wholly Thine;
Let me feel the Holy Spirit,
Truly know that Thou art mine.

Refrain

All to Jesus, I surrender;
Lord, I give myself to Thee;
Fill me with Thy love and power;
Let Thy blessing fall on me.

All to Jesus I surrender;
Now I feel the sacred flame.
O the joy of full salvation!

Ursula~thanks for telling us a little about yourself.  I live in Wyoming.  My brother was born in Worland, Wy.  hehehe...small world.  That is great that your husband preaches to the spanish.  We have a spanish pastor that comes to our church on Sundays at 2:30 and preaches to the spanish folks in our community.  That is great!    We are a little silly at times, but please feel freee to post as often as you like.

Papa John

Ursula, welcome to Christian Photographers!

Many years ago we worked as missionaries in Brussels, Belgium, where our work was in French.  I had to learn French well enough to preach and teach Bible classes in French.  It is a beautiful language.  Good luck in your efforts to learn.  ---  Spanish is the language which is very popular now because of all the migration of Spanish speaking people to the US and to Canada.  I have a good friend to works with Spanish language people in the Miami, Florida area.

Sonja ~ The tapes are put out at the welcome booth for anyone who wishes to have the sermon for home or to share with family and friends. I think there may be some new things in the coming days, weeks and months at Park Chapel Church. I think maybe they are thinking about videoing the service, I am not sure, but  one of our people in A/V is also a pastor and owns his own video business. He use to be a youth pastor and had quit to pursue a business of his own and when our youth minister moved on to his own church in Oak Ridge,Tenn. Mike became interim youth minister. Sunday, it was reported that they had hired a new youth minister, but that Mike will be taking over the media ministry on a permanent basis. It will mean an office and salary I imagine, but he is a real nice guy! I worked with him last month!-------------More information than you wanted.

WELCOME URSULA!!  GLAD TO SEE YOU!!!

Nice to hear some of your story.  Welcome to Christian Photographers.  Hope you find a warm welcome and a friendly fellowship here.   God bless.

Al Moak

Welcome ursula!  It's good to have another Canadian.  Some of them that we have on here are really nice people!  Seriously - we love the Lord and His Word, and we love to share together.

Papa John

Well, the day is about over and I think I am feeling much better right now.  The soreness in my back from the injection is about gone.

I am leaving now to go to church to rehearse.  I made the mistake of volunteering to help with our Vacation Bible School which is next week so I am playing the part of the Apostle John in a skit each night.  One of these days I will learn to keep my big mouth shut.

When is Mieka coming back?

I think that Mieka said that she'd be away at least 3 weeks.  I miss her a lot.

Etta Sue

Yes, I am missing Mieka, too!  She will have lots of stories and, I hope, pictures for us.

It amazes me when people speak more than one language.  When I was working, a German girl started working for me and knew very little English.  After about 2 years, she came in all excited.  Told us that the night before she 'thought' in English.  I thought that was cute.  One girl that was with her a lot was from Tennessee.  They would teach each other words.  Melita said she was a German Hillbilly!

Okay, folks...you asked for it!!!  Here is the URL for my PSP Lessons.  Go to Week 1 and then Week 2.  Week 3 is there also but not published for the moderators yet.  Also if you want, I put some pictures of my son, DIL, her daughter, SIL and her grandson, Donovan.  He will be 1 year old, July 30th.  Ten pictures are on the 'Home' page and ten more on the 'Contact Us' page.  (I couldn't make anymore pages and I have to keep pages open for my PSP lessons.)

Etta Sue's Webpages

I am soooooo tired tonight.  Calling it a night!

God Bless All of You!!!

Jane Walker

Etta Sue Yuh done good!    :D  I took your advice and saved it to my favorites so I can come back often.

BTW, Pat, I enjoyed looking at your PSP lessons as well ... and I have your website saved to my favs, too!    :P

Y'all do such good stuff with PSP ... I know better than to even get started, cuz I'd never get away from this 'puter! ... I'll just eavesdrop and oohh and aahh at what you produce, okay?

Oh, yeah, I found a picture of my Dad using the very same scissors that Nita used yesterday to trim my hair ... I posted it in the Father's Day area.
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Marilyn

Today my boss let me have a teapot with pink roses on it and a porcelain tea kettle. She was throwing them away and they perfectly good, no damage at all. I asked if I could have them I actually took them out of the trash basket.
Move stuff for me to pack oh well I tend to be a collector or various things like teapots, brass, salt and pepper shakers, old silver serving piecesand untesils.(spoons forks etc), tins, small fancy glass bottles etc. just a few of the stuff I have collected oh and odd shaped bottles. After I get moved and settled I wil take some photos and post them.

Speaking of photos, They didn't send me the replacement camera and I am not going to persue it. I have a differnt on in mind and will wait for while. I've been looking at an HP 680 on the internet and reading up on it. If I wait maybe I can afford a better one.

Just over in the glory land

I've a home prepared where the saints abide
Just over in the glory land
And I long to be by my Saviour's side
Just over in the glory land

Just over in the glory land
I'll join the happy angel band
Just over in the glory land
Just over in the glory land
There with the mighty host I'll stand
Just over in the glory land

I am on my way to those mansions fair
Just over in the glory land
There to sing God's praises and his glory share
Just over in the glory land

Refrain

What a joyful thought that my Lord I'll see
Just over in the glory land
And with kindred saved, there forever be
Just over in the glory land

Refrain

With the blood washed throng I will shout and sing
Just over in the glory land
Glad hosannas to Christ, the Lord and King
Just over in the glory land

Welcome Ursula!

Ursula!  Hello - I live in Fort Collins, Colorado and you may have driven near here on your way to Denver.  Good for you for trying to learn French.  Did all of your children move with you?

Larry:  That was nice of you to leave some blood for Kaiser.  The book sale was the biggest money raiser yet and I was successful at weeding out old and tattered books that had not sold in years so feel very good about accomplishing something.

Jerry:  What a nice service you are doing for the church.  It is much appreciated, I am sure.

I have been learning to wash and dry clothes all over today.  We bought a new machine set - and it is really a new way of setting up the machine.  It just reminded me of the days with no dryer and having three children before we were able to get a dryer - all used of course.  But - living in Seattle and then in Oregon before moving to Colorado - drying clothes outside was iffy at best.  I do so appreciate technology and things that have eased as far as housework goes.  Also, just renewed our library books online and that is so different.

Marilyn:  Why would anyone throw away perfectly good things?  It was good that you caught that!  Are you down to counting the hours yet?  I hope that your nights are not too hot and that you can get some sleep.

Hi everyone!
How are all of you this evening?  We just had a little sprinkle, but we're under a severe thunderstorm warning.....I don't see anything outside to indicate that, though.  If a cloud does come by, I will shut down in a hurry here.

Earl is doing better, a little stronger each day.  It encouraged me to go ahead and schedule the surgery.  First I have to have an esophageal manometry test, and it is to be done this Friday morning.  That is a procedure that measures the muscle strength of the esophagus, I understand.  The actual surgery is tentative for July 1st.

Larry, I hope you are feeling some better now.  You have had a tough time lately, my friend.  May the days ahead be eased somewhat.

And Papa John, it sounds like your steroid injection helped you, I am glad to hear that.  I had that done twice in my upper spine.  The first time lasted one year and then had to be repeated.  Since then, no more problems.  It has been maybe  8 or 10 years since that was done. Mine was for a bulging disc in my neck.

I am missing Mieka too, and also Janet.  Hope they will be back soon.  We will have a new subject to ponder when Mieka returns!

Earl's brother-in-law in Oregon died on Sunday.  He got sick about 10 days ago and got double pneumonia.  He passed away on his wife's birthday (Earl's sister), but she said she got the most wonderful gift for her birthday – her hubby made a profession of faith that day!!!  She has been praying for this for many years.  And so have we.  Praise God for his miraculous love and mercy!  Bea told me on the phone last Thursday morning that he had been sedated to help ease the difficulty in breathing.  She said she believed, even under sedation, the Lord could still communicate to him of his need for the Savior, and I agreed.  I told her we would pray for that very thing to happen.  I prayed the same prayer Sunday morning getting ready for church, and again as I was washing dinner dishes.  We got the call right after coming home from church that night.

On that note, I will sign off now.  Bye bye, all.
~Janice

This is the day the Lord has made, we will rejoice and be glad in it.   Ps 118:24

Pat

Oh, Janice!

Praise the Lord for that conversion!  What a great happening.  I'm sure that there is rejoicing in heaven over that!

I'm glad that you'll be having the surgery.  It probably will help you with that problem.  Glad too that Earl is feeling better and better.  Great to have you posting.

Karma, that's a great list!  I must print that out.

Greetings all!  We're back from Hampton Roads, Virginia and so glad to be home safely.  Didn't win a medal, but had some wins & losses during the Senior Games.    Unfortunately during the week, several Senior participants were injured and some very seriously.  One lady we know, a cancer patient, had a stroke at the horseshoe venue and was hospitalized a few days.  Then there were the men cyclists who were involved in a chain reaction wreck that left one with a punctured lung and another with head injuries.  The course they were cycling wasn't totally closed to traffic, and there were no shoulders - only ditches on each side.  The cyclists couldn't spread out thus the chain reaction accident. :o

We were gone a week and it rained every day except Friday!  After my 8am and 11am competitions, we drove up to Williamsburg.  Hadn't been there in about 20 years and it has certainly changed.  It's more like a tourist trap now with so many things for sale at very inflated prices.  We had supper at Christiana Campbell's Tavern where George Washington dined, and we dined there the last time in Williamsburg.  We ordered only salad and stew(more like seafood bisque), and it was very good.  The prices are high of course, just like everything else.

On Wednesday of last week, we toured the USS Wisconsin, a battleship launched in 1943.  It was not only used in WW2, but also the Korean war and the Gulf war.  We also visited Virginia Beach and watched people fishing from the shore.

My trip to Rome is supposed to begin on June 17th with arrival there on the 18th with return on July 1st.  My biggest concern is making connecting flights out of Paris.   Second concern is just what to take and what to leave at home.  Truett and I have travelled in the past with only one carryon bag each.  A trip with a young teen is quite different. ::)

Need to get to bed now as I'm working at the hospital tomorrow.

Pat, you do look good in red!  Marilyn - what a find you had!  I collect teapots.

karmat

Joan, I heard a tip about packing several years ago, and it seems to work.

1)  Lay everything on your bed you think you will need for your trip.  Clothes, toiletries, misc., money, etc.

2)  Take half the clothes and twice the money.

;)
