Morning Devotional...

JOY IN TECHNICOLOR

Bible reading:  Revelation 21:18-24

Trust....in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy. (1 Timothy 6:17)

It is a pity that some people's religion seems to permit only somber hues!  Down through the centuries some professing Christians have clothed themselves in black, as though they were in mourning for a dead Savior.  But Christ is gloriously alive!  Even as He died on the cross, He gave the victory shout:  "It is finished."  (John 19:30).  Now He stands at the right hand of God (Acts 7:55).  Through His Spirit He is always present with each Christian (Matthew 28:20).

God splashes magenta, gold, and purple sunsets across the evening sky.  His dawns of gorgeous pink and gold extravaganzas spread across a light blue background.  His multihued rainbows assure us He will never flood the world again.  His dazzling white snow covers the bare winter ground.  His purple, yellow and red blossoms declare spring.  His gorgeous flowers shout summer.  Even fall's drying leaves reveal His love for beauty.

People, animals, birds and fish also come in different colors; and their features differ.  Would it not be dull if everything looked the same?

God made the grass green and the sky blue, colors which have a restful effect.  Someday we saints shall walk the streets of gold in a city of pure gold Rev. 21:18).  Yellow has a cheerful effect, a reminder of how joyful we will be in the New Jerusalem!

Since God has given us so many colorful things to enjoy, let us take time to thank God for them.

WHEN WE ALL GET TO HEAVEN
(Click to hear music)

In my Father's house are many rooms;
I am going there to prepare a place for you.
John 14:2

Words:  Eliza E. Hewitt (1851-1920)
Music: Emily D. Wilson (MIDI, score).

Sing the wondrous love of Jesus,
Sing His mercy and His grace.
In the mansions bright and blessed
He'll prepare for us a place.

Refrain
When we all get to Heaven,
What a day of rejoicing that will be!
When we all see Jesus,
We'll sing and shout the victory!

While we walk the pilgrim pathway,
Clouds will overspread the sky;
But when traveling days are over,
Not a shadow, not a sigh.

Refrain

Let us then be true and faithful,
Trusting, serving every day;
Just one glimpse of Him in glory
Will the toils of life repay.

Refrain

Onward to the prize before us!
Soon His beauty we'll behold;
Soon the pearly gates will open;
We shall tread the streets of gold.

Geez theres a bunch of flats in that song. But I got it :) just not at hat speed... I like that midi. for that song. The song is awesome by itself too.
Looks though I posted a little late for yesterdays morning so I am looking for another section in the forums to share my project.

Hope everyone is doing good. Have a good day.  :)

Pat

Tracy, thanks for sharing that absolutely wonderful photo in yesterday's NEM.

I hope that you share it in the Photograhy Cafe (there's a link in my sig to that site.)

I'll be back tomorrow to read your devotion, Janet.  Thanks so much for doing that tonight.

Pastoral Ministry: Faith Must Be Demonstrated

Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of
witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so
easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is
set before us.
--Hebrews 12:1

The lesson that comes to us through the many dramatic
illustrations of faith in Hebrews 11 brings us back to my earlier
statement: Faith in God is to be demonstrated, not defined. Just
as God's church demonstrates Christian love,  this demonstration
of godly, humble faith is God's ideal for His church.

It is not enough for preachers in their pulpits to try to define
love. The love that God has promised must be demonstrated in the
lives of the believers in the pews. It must be practiced as well
by the man who occupies the pulpit.

We should put the matter of faith in that same category. God
wants His people, including the ministers, to demonstrate all
of the outworking of faith in their daily lives and practices.
Jesus, Author of Our Faith, 8.

"Lord, the pattern set forth in Hebrews 11 seems so
unattainable! Strengthen me by Your Spirit to be able to
demonstrate this type of unshakable faith. Amen."

Finally!!! After a most difficult week, it's now Saturday - time to praise the Lord for lessened stress and for NEM. I'm trusting and believing that next week will be a good (tho short) one. I have plans to take 2 days' vacation and go see my darling grandchildren.

I truly believe God knows that a person can only take so much at one time and then will break if there's no relief.

I've read all the posts from previous days while I couldn't come here. Thank you for such a lively discussion.

I think it's time for a hot cup of tea. Anyone want to join me?

Ruth Ann
...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Janet

I sure will join you, Ruth Ann!  And we will just prop our feet up and share about the goodness of the Lord, forgetting all the stresses of the past few weeks.  Ahhhhh.........how refreshing!  Thanks for the invitation.  :) ;D

Good Morning: Thank you Janet for the good and timely devotional this morning.

Today is shopping day for Fay, I will go this morning early before the Saturday crowds gather.  Not much else planned for today, I got my house all cleaned up yesterday and  removed my old sewing maching fromthe cabinet, gathered the parts and cams for it and put it in a box to give away. I am keeping the cabinet although my new machine doen't fit into it. I can set it on top. I want to get into my fabric and find some pieces for a quilt for the back seat of my car so dog hair doesn't get all over or penetrate into the fabric of the seat. I may hunt up the pieces today.

One of the ladies in my Tai Chi class gave me an absolutely beautiful RED Hast yesterday. I willg o to my first meeting next Saturday.

It is a beautiful day here I do beleive the rain has stopped for a few days. Good we need to dry out a bit before the next rain comes.

Yes, thanks so much, Janet.  That was a blessing to my heart today reading the devotion.

I have a very busy day ahead of me.  But I'll try to pop in now and then between errands.

Hi to everyone!

Janet

I'm just stopping by for a minute again, between working on framing orders.  Making good progress, think I will be finished soon.  And THEN-----drum roll-----I am going to visit CURTIS!! ;D ;D  He is home for the weekend, and busy doing laundry, so this would be a good afternoon to spend some quality time with my grandson.  He is "sister sitting" with Abby, and I just spoke to him, he says she is practicing her dancing.  ;)

Anyway, see you later!

Hi everyone.

Janet, that was a great devotional and I could just see the artist in you with the vivid descriptions of the many wonderful colors that God provides for us in nature.  Glad your framing project is going well and hope you have a great afternoon with your grandchildren.

Our friends, with whom we stayed one night in Inverness, FL, called yesterday and said they were back in town.  They had been called about a home in a retirement community in the next town that was of interest to them and they have made an offer on it and should know something by tomorrow evening.  The lady passed away who lived there and so they are buying it from the estate.  They will then sell their home here and move when they get back from Florida around the first of May.  He picked me up to go to coffee this morning.  It was nice to have him back if only for a few days.

Tbear, what a day you had and so sorry to hear of the continued fever and illness for both you and your husband.  Hope the medicine will take hold and you will soon be up and going again.  Glad they didn't have to break your car window to get the key.  I am in a habit of double checking my pocket for my car keys before shutting the door when I am locking it.

I think I feel a nap coming on so am going to go and lay down in a few minutes.  Haven't managed to get much done this morning and now it is after lunch.

Ruth Ann, hope you have a restful weekend.

It is good to see everyone posting today.

Pat

Hi everyone,

Our church is starting its annual missions confrence this weekend and they kicked it off with a dinner and a talk by some missionaries to Ireland and my youth pastor who is leaving to go to full time missions in Belo Horizante Brazil. Ever since I went to Honduras, missions has never been quite the same for me. I love to travel which makes it even better!

Just a story from ths morning: Me and my parents were awoken at 4:30 AM by a car alarm going off in our neighborhood. This happens about once a year and we figured it would just go away after a few minutes later. Well, 20 minutes later, still hearing the thing go off and on, my dad called the sheriff's office to see if they could come out and check the whole deal out (we were starting to wonder if a house alarm had malfunctioned but it turned out to be a car). We were joking around and talking about taking a shotgun and putting the poor thing out of its misery. My mom and I were looking out the window and someone came walking up the street just out of no where and he got in the car that was making the noise and drove off. It was pretty strange. The sheriff rolled by about 15 minutes later. I know it was probably a low priority "emergency" but 45 minutes after my dad made the call?  ???

Pat

Ryan, I'm very interested to hear that you had missionaries from Ireland.  Having lived in Ireland I love to hear of that.  Do you know what part of Ireland they are in?

And I have relatives scattered all over Brazil!  My aunt was a missionary nurse to Recife, Brazil and married a Brazilian pastor so there are children and cousins I've never met living down there.

What a noise you had in the night!

This has become a special hymn since it was first introduced on here last year.

WE'RE GOING HOME TOMORROW
(Click to hear music)

Willing rather to be absent from the body,
and to be present with the Lord.
2 Corinthians 5:8

Words: Mrs. E. W. Griswold
Music: Philip P. Bliss (1838-1876)

We're going home, no more to roam,
No more to sin and sorrow;
No more to wear the brow of care,
We're going home tomorrow.

Refrain
We're going home, we're going home tomorrow,
We're going home, we're going home tomorrow.

For weary feet awaits a street
Of wondrous pave and golden;
For hearts that ache, the angels wake
The story, sweet and olden.

Refrain

For those who sleep, and those who weep,
Above the portals narrow,
The mansions rise beyond the skies—
We're going home tomorrow.

Refrain

Oh, joyful song! Oh, ransomed throng!
Where sin no more shall sever;
Our King to see, and, oh, to be
With Him at home forever!

Refrain

A great Christian poet once said, "They also serve who only stand and wait."  Having just arisen from a nap (I slept but little last night), I had to ask myself whether I had wasted time in sleeping.  The answer was, "No, assuredly not!"  We often think we have to be in control in order to glorify our Lord, but the truth is that He glorifies Himself and His preserving power even (or especially) when we are asleep.  We are doing nothing, but He is refreshing us.  You do nothing while you sleep, yet He is "able to keep you from stumbling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy!"  He does these things while we are unconscious, just as He does when we are conscious, and He doesn't need our help!

Be thankful that He will glorify Himself in you - all the time.

Pat

Thanks Al...  How often I've wondered the same thing when I've gone for a nap.  "Am I wasting time?"  You've helped me with my answer!

I want to share an article with you all.  It's absolutely terrible.  What a terrible death for this little girl.

I've been trying to talk to a man who lives in Germany and he's very upset by this and can't imagine why God would allow this to happen.

How would you explain to this dear upset man why things like this are allowed to happen?

HORROR DEATH OF STARVED JESSICA

Mar 4 2005

By Allan Hall

A GIRL of seven starved to death by her parents ate her own hair in a bid to stay alive.

Jessica Schmidt also ate pieces of the carpet in the darkened bedroom where she was kept prisoner.

She weighed just 21lb when she died. The family's well fed cat weighed 10lb.

What those parents did is truly horrible.  Let there be no mistake about that.  They absolutely will stand before God one day to explain their unexplainable actions.  But the question being asked by many, many people who either read of or observe such events turns the spotlight of man's sense of justice, not upon the parents, but upon God Himself.  God is being placed, as it were, on trial by fallen, rebellious man.  They say, if there's a real god, then why did He allow this?  Could He not have stopped it?  Could He not have saved that little, innocent girl?  Of course the answer is that He could have saved her.  He truly is God, and He truly is omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent, and He can do anything He wants to do, simply because He is God.  And if you say, well, it wasn't God - it was Satan, then the question still remains unanswered, because we have to ask why God allowed Satan to do it.

The true answer has to begin with another question: Why does God save any human being, young or old, from sins terrible results?  Why was not the entire human race immediately cast into everlasting destruction the minute sin entered the world?  Why are you not in Hell?  Why am I not in Hell.  Do we not deserve it?  "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."  Every human being deserves everlasting destruction.  But when the executioner's sword flashed toward the race, Jesus Christ stood in the way and received the blow for every one whom He came to save

But He did not receive it for every human being - many, many go to their death every day and every hour who are yet in their sin, and, because of Who God is, they must be compensated for their sin.  Their every sin was committed against the goodness of God, and it must therefore receive the holy wrath of God.  I'm sorry to have to say it, but even Jessica was involved in the sin of the race.  The question must not be, "Why doesn't He save every soul," but the question must be, "Why does He save any soul?"

Paul put it simply, but it's hard to receive.  He said, "But indeed, O man, who are you to reply against God?  Will the thing formed say to Him who formed it, 'Why have you made me lilke this?'"  So why the little girl's horrible death?  I don't know.  At present only God knows.  But, with absolute assurance I must say, we must absolutely NOT lay any charge for unrighteousness at God's feet!

Chris & Margit Saunders

Amen to that Al, Lord have mercy on us all.

Judy McKenna

Oh my gosh, Pat....this makes me absolutely nauseous!  Nothing - absolutely nothing would be harsh enough sentence for those parents.  That poor wee darling girl!

I don't know how to answer that German man either.

Marilyn:  My daughter has one of those old fashioned sewing machines.  Singer was the make.  She took the parts out, and now uses the cabinet as a plant stand.  She refinished it beforehand, and has it in her living room.  It looks lovely!  She painted flowers and ivy on it as well.

Janet:  Your devotional was one I'd like to print out.

Pat:  Must be something wrong with my speakers, as I'm not able to get the hymns very clearly.  Has anyone else that problem...or is it MY speakers, for sure.

Not a lot new here, I'm hoping my back is better tomorrow morning, so I can get to church.

Pat:  How are the spasms?BTW - when you visited Ian - did you take any pictures of little David?

Beth:  How are you doing these days?  Hi John - how is your Mom?
"I am too blessed to be stressed".

Marilyn

Judy my mom bought that old New Home machine when I was 15, it still works very well but I got a new one that I don't have to keep changing the cams in. That old machine is 50 years old.

Amen  Al. you said it all in your post.

Not much else is new here. I was home all afternoon working to catch up on some PSP projects. Then I went to fay's at 3:30  to preapare her supper and clean up the dishes. ow I have had my supper and am going back to work on some PSP.

I'm so happy to see you, Rachelle!  Yes, it's been a very, very long time since we've had the pleasure of your company but it's nice to see your post today.

Sounds like great news if you can get the property.  Keep us posted, ok?

Thanks Al.  It truly is so terrible.

Judy, it could be your speakers.  The sound is just fine for me.  Yes, I did take a couple of photos of David.  I've just not felt well enough to work on them lately.  The spasms are still with me.  It's going to be 7 weeks in a couple of days.

They are with a group called Greater Europe Mission. It seems as if they are mainly in Dublin. They have established some different churches around Dublin. Here are two other na mes mentioned on the site: Glenageary and Ballygall. Recognize them?

Hey Ryan, I miss seeing your photo in your profile.

Thanks for the names of the two villages.  I'm going to look them up...
