JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Morning Devotional...

How to have Full Joy:  Fellowship

Bible Reading: 1 John 1:1-9

And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full. (v.4)

[/b]

What things did the apostle John tell Christians that their "joy may be full"?  John said that if we walk in darkness, we do not have fellowship with God.  "But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another" (v. 7).  If a person does not enjoy the fellowship of other Christians enough to be eager to congregate and worship with them, then he is not walking in the light and cannot have full joy.

Part of the joy we Christians can experience comes from fellowshipping with those of like faith.  We rejoice together in answered prayer and in songs of praise and in testimony.  The Christian who does not attend his church's prayer meetings is missing much joy!

If we walk in the light, "the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin" (v. 7).  Is that not a great cause for joy?

Any sin can rob us of fellowship with God and His joy.  So God has made a provision for us:  "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins" (v 9).  We often slip up and say or do something wrong.  When we do, we must run right to our Father and ask forgiveness.  That way we keep things right between us, continue to walk in the light, and have fellowship with God and Christians--and have full joy.

Ruthie

Well, yesterday I had a colonoscopy and gastrocopy.  I was a little nervous but after kidding with the doctor, they put a needle in the back of my hand and a brace in my mouth so a tube (camera) could go down my throat, and I don't remember another thing until I woke up in the recovery room.   They had done both procedures.  The doctor said my colon and bowel were fine and on my abdominal wall there were some "little tears"  Nothing serious.  She gave me a prescription for the tears.

But I am concerned now about my eye.  I have some floaters and a few times some light flashes.  Today I saw the surgeon who did my implant surgery and my pressure was up.  Could be from the anesthetic yesterday.   But now he has sceduled my to see a retina specialist.  So now my eye is a worry.

Would appreciate your prayers for my right eye.    Thank you.   God bless

Love Ruthie

I have been sewing almost all day.  It is not for family but for charity = most likely bound for a reservation.

Etta Sue:  Your good health report - what joyous news!

Ruthie:  I am praying for a good result from your eye surgery.

Pastoral Ministry: Bowing to the Givers

Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor
to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us
richly all things to enjoy.
--1 Timothy 6:17

Remember, my giving will be rewarded not by how much I gave but by
how much I had left. Ministers are sometimes tempted to shy away
from such doctrine as this lest they offend the important givers in
their congregation. But it is better to offend men than to grieve
the blessed Spirit of God which dwells in the church. No man ever
yet killed a true church by withdrawing his gifts from it because of
a personal pique. The Church of the Firstborn is not dependent upon
the patronage of men. No man has ever been able really to harm a
church by boycotting it financially. The moment we admit that we
fear the displeasure of the carnal givers in our congregations we
admit also that our congregations are not of heaven but of the
earth. A heavenly church will enjoy a heavenly and supernatural
prosperity. She cannot be starved out. The Lord will supply her
needs. God Tells the Man Who Cares, 147.

"Thank You, Heavenly Father, for Your incredibly generous provision
and faithfulness--both to us as individuals and to the churches we
lead. Amen."

Good Morning. I have been awake since 4:45 and out of bed since 5:15. thank you Janet for the timely devotional this morning.

Yesterday while having my nails done my hairdresser told me of a place for rent very close to my church. It was a little hard to locate because it is down a street that looks like someones driveway, and behind some trailers. It is a small 2 bedroom with another little room that could  be an office. I didn't see the inside but I talked to the owner on the phone. It is across the street from the church.

It sounds like a good place for me. The owner said she  is fixing it up, cleaning and so on but that she will take my application. The yard is chain link fenced, the fence is about 4 feet high, a large yard too. I will be going over to check it out further soon, it is going to take awhile for it to be ready to rent.

The only problem is the neighbors who live in the trailers, they are druggies who are being watched by the police. they have 3 Pit bulls and a Rottweiler, I didn't see the dogs. However the neighbor on the other side is someone I know and who goes to my church. A sweet lady who has also offered me a room in her house.

Oh, Marilyn! Sounds as if in one way, this will be a good house--nice fenced lot,  etc.  But being so close to druggies isn't that nice.  I'll be praying for you.

I read all the posts but failed to keep notes.  Just know that I thank all of you for the replies back to me about my great report from the doctor.  I am still in the clouds.  Marilyn, I am praying that this house is the one for you and those druggies will be moved out into a colder place...if you know what I mean.  Ruthie, great report on your test.  Praying about your eye.  Fast Eddie, do you drive to retreive cars for a dealership?  That sounds like what I would like to do.  I love to drive but not in bad weather.

I awoke earlier today to terrible winds.  It has to be terrible for me to hear the winds in this house and it sounded like a tornado.  I did notice a downspout was out by my propane tank this morning.  There is a light snow covering everything and cold....24°F.  I will be so glad when spring gets here and I can open the windows and let the warm breezes filter through the house.  Ah, spring!!!

Hi everyone.  It is a beautiful day here in Georgia with the temperature at 70 degrees.  I had to take off my sweatshirt this afternoon, which is unusual.  This morning several of my coffee group went to a pancake breakfast put on by our local Masonic Lodge.  This is a fundraiser that funds a scholarship for a student from our local highschool.  I have attended it on several occasions over the years.  We then went to the Cafe to finish the morning coffee hour.

Our cable, both TV and Internet, were out when I got up this morning.  By the time I got back from coffee the TV was working but in trying to reset the Internet I had not unplugged my wireless router and it was noon before I got the instructions from the cable company to unplug it, as well as the modem,  and to turn off my computer.  When I did that I then had a connectiion.  However, it was about 30 minutes more before I had Internet.  I spent the time doing a lot of small projects.

I wanted to keep and eye on the basketball games today so brought the small tv from the kitchen and used a splitter so I could have both tv and Internet here in my office.  I was happy to see Georgia Tech beat North Carolina this afternoon.

I expect most of you heard that the police did capture the man who killed the judge, the court reporter and a deputy yesterday morning and then killed a Federal agent, who was at home working on his home, in the evening.  He then came into our county and took a hostage in an apartment house.  This is one really evil and bad person.  The Atlanta area is breathing easier now that he has been caught.

Janet, thought that was a great devotional this morning.  When we are not experiencing joy in the presence of our Christian brothers and sisters we really need to take stock.

Marilyn, I hope the house works out for you.  Perhaps by the time it is ready and you have to move the police will have removed the drug dealers.  Have to wonder why, if they know that drug dealing is occurring, that they can't arrest these people.  I would also be concerned about those dogs they have with regard to your dogs.

Tbear, it is good to see you back with your cheerful postings and looking forward to Etta Sue's visit.  Just read of the pending visit by your son and know you are really excited.

Etta Sue, it can't be too long before you experience spring in your area.

Welcome to Ruth Chapel to CP.

Pat, I read the prayer request.  Thanks for sharing it with us.

Carol, it is good of you to do the sewing projects for charity.  Hope you have had a good day of sewing.

Ruthie, hope the pressure goes back down in your eye.  Good to read of the results of your other tests.

Hope everyone was a good weekend.  Tomorrow we are formally installing our new senior pastor and following that the bass section of the choir is having a special rehearsal of "The Messiah", which we will be singing on the 20th.  The other sections of the choir have already had their special practices.

Janet

Good afternoon!  Busy day here for me.  I got up early and was out at the civic center before 7, then stood in line for about an hour to get blood drawn at the health fair.  Then I came back and picked up Beth, and told Darrel that he and Abby should come out around 11 and eat lunch, which they did.  I attended both the Pioneer Electric meeting (where I won a certificate for $25 off our electric bill) and the Pioneer Communications meeting.  I didn't win any of their prizes, but did get a bag of goodies which included a really nice fanny pack and a card for 100 minutes of long distance calling.  The electric company gave us each two light bulbs and a folding canvas chair.  Anyhow, that's where my day went!  And it was a beautiful day until all that was over---now the dirt is blowing.  >:(

Pat, I meant to mention the adorable puppy you posted the photo of---I assume that is Andrew's family's new pet?  Bet they are all in love with him already.

Ruthie, hope those pressures go down soon.  Eye problems are NOT fun.

Karen, hope you and our HEALTHY Etta Sue have a great visit, and that your son comes home and you have a great time with him as well.

Larry, how I wish I could attend your church and hear "The Messiah."  I know your choir will do a super job.

Abby is wanting me to make her a fruit smoothie, so guess I will do that, then I hope I can take a short nap, as I didn't sleep last night.  See you later!

Yes Larry I am more concerned about my dogs with regard to the neighbors dogs. I saw the 3 pit bulls today, they were up by the top of an 8 ft. fence looking over and barking at me. I have had a fun time withthe Red Hatters today. We hung out for a few minutes in front of Safeway to support the local Battered Women's shelter in Eureka. They were selling hot dogs in front of the store and one of them is also a Red Hatter. There were some photos taken and I will try to get one and scan it to post.

I have an URGENT PRAYER REQUEST for some dear friends of mine.

Hi Folks...

I've had company all day.  It's been fun and they took me out for supper to the Swiss Chalet and they've just left to go home and now I'm here alone.  Andrew, Terena and Rebecca also came over with "Sammy" their new puppy.  He's adorable.  No accidents and asks to go out--even at my house here which is a house he's not at all used to but still went to the door and whined.  So I think he's going to be a really good pet for them.

Yes, Janet, this is the puppy for Andrew and Terena because Celtie died.

I'm really tired and this is a very strange time to go and lie down but I had to take a pain med so I'm going to rest for a little while.  I'll be back.

Larry, what wonderful news.  I recognized the county name.  Isn't that where the SNet Bash was and isn't that the same county as Joan Scales?

I'll be back in awhile.
