JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
Philippians 4:13

At the age of 21, I placed my faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

However, I still faced challenges, choices and circumstances from my "old life". I knew I wanted God's will for my "new life", so I asked the Lord for strength to do what I had to do.

Are you facing overwhelming situations?

The Christ who saved you is able to strengthen you.
—Bob Cretney

Thy way, not mine, O Lord,
however dark it be;
lead me by thine own hand,
choose out the path for me.

Smooth let it be or rough,
it will be still the best;
winding or straight, it leads
right onward to thy rest.

I dare not choose my lot;
I would not, if I might;
choose thou for me, my God,
so I shall walk aright.

The kingdom that I seek
is thine; so let the way
that leads to it be thine,
else I must surely stray.

Take thou my cup, and it
with joy or sorrow fill,
as best to thee may seem;
choose thou my good and ill.

Choose thou for me my friends,
my sickness or my health;
choose thou my cares for me
my poverty or wealth.

Not mine, not mine the choice
in things or great or small;
be thou my Guide, my Strength
my wisdom and my all.

Words: Horatius Bonar, 1857

Dear Pat,

I hope the pain has eased this morning for you and thank you for today's devotional.

Are you facing overwhelming situations?

Well I doubt if a day has gone past in the last 13 months when I have not felt that I have been facing such times. Even this morning I struggled to get out of bed and face the day knowing what much of it would entail.

I would not have lifted my head from my pillow if I had not placed my strength and hope in Christ. Sometimes I have to do things not just a day at a time but I break things down even further to an hour at a time or even a minute at a time.

When my faith waivers I 'cling on' to little faith for that minute or that hour in the hope that God will come to my rescue and lift me face my difficulties and trials for a while.

Often in the past I prayed for deliverance from my trials while now I pray for grace to see me through them. God delights to prove His faithfulness to us and the more we put our trust and our hope in Him then the more He does for us. We would not see much of His wonderful works if He continually delivered us from all our trials but we can see His hand more clearly when He guides us through our times of difficulty.

May He be your strength and your wonderful guide today and always. With love to you all from a very wet and windy Western Isles.

Your brother in Christ

Iain

Hey, Pat!  Prayers for a good day for you today.

Good morning.

We have mixed weather conditions right now, so I am delaying going to the workplace. However, I can get online here, so will begin work right on schedule.

Meds have been approved and maybe life will return to normal.

Hey Marilyn, have you heard of that airborne product?  YOu can buy it at most pharmacys.  When you feel a cold or the flu coming on it helps to take it.  I was about to get sick but took that for 3 days and I felt better the next day.  I have been giving it to my kids too.  The stuff really works.  We can't find it here because they were sold out, so I need to look on line now. :-/

Morning everyone
!
My dvd that I made didn't work in the xbox.  I wonder if it would work in a regular dvd player. hmmm.. it works fine on my dvd player on my computer.

I have a ton of pictures to work on, I better go.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  It is rainy and cold morning here in Georgia.  I went for coffee at the cafe and then my friend Rod came by to help me with a few things on the computer and he just now left.  I will pick him up at 1 pm as he and I are co-teaching the Windows Essentials class at the Learning Center.  Today is the final session for this term and is basically a review and having them apply what hopefully they have learned from the course.

Paulette, congratulations on becoming a grandmother.  Is this your first grandchild?  They are something special.

Iain, thanks for the devotional thoughts and good message.  You provide a wonderful witness to others.

Pat, also hoping you are feeling better today and thank you for the devotional thought.

Janet, don't you sometimes wonder if anyone ever reads instructions printed for things like the patterns.  It seems this is a common problem.  Glad Abby got her project done and I look forward to seeing the photos.

Marilyn, certainly hope you are not coming down with the flu or something.  Hope you are able to keep your appointments today.

Ruth Ann, since you can do your work from home it seems that would be a good alternative for you on many days or do you need to be in your office.  I worked from home for about 18 months before I retired and was able to extend my work career that way.  With the internet, a telephone and fax machine I could do about anything I needed.  Now with webcams you can even have face to face conferences very easily as long as there is a camera at both points.  They are easy to set up and use.

Sonja, hope your DVD works in a regular DVD player.  Frustrating to make something and not have it work.  Maybe there are some special settings needed to make a DVD compatible with the Xbox.  Can you play commercial  DVD's with the Xbox?

Etta Sue, sounds like a good day to stay in and fight off that cold.  Hope you get some positive news on Jerry today.

Hi Tbear and Ryan and anyone else who stops by today.

Hi all,

A new baby, congratulations Paulette, I can see you beaming all the
way in Jersey!!!!

Sorry, dear Marilyn, for you illnesses, prayers are with you.

Pat, keep well, we "need you"

Etta, dear, keep up your strength ---Prayers are still on going to you
and Jerry, and Jerry's family.

Ruth Ann, glad to hear you are getting better.

Hi to all newcomers ..

Dear Iian, Your words--powerful --needed to hear them and worthy
to post again below:

Often in the past I prayed for deliverance from my trials while now I pray for grace to see me through them. God delights to prove His faithfulness to us and the more we put our trust and our hope in Him then the more He does for us. We would not see much of His wonderful works if He continually delivered us from all our trials but we can see His hand more clearly when He guides us through our times of difficulty.

Thanks for the posting.

Take care and as always,

Love in CHrist,

Joyce

Hello to all.  Seems like, again, I just cannot get here on a regular basis.  I was glad to get the e-mail telling of Jerry's stroke and that brought me back

I see that Pat is sick, also.  And then Marilyn and Ruth Ann.  Many prayers for all these saints.

Thanks to Iain for his comments and to Pay for the devotional.

Larry & I share the same weather. :(    TBEAR, I love your graphics.   :) :) and have been meaning to tell you so.

God's blessings on all today.

Hi everyone my sister sent me this and wants me to share with as many people as I can.

Please take a moment to relax your mind and humble your heart to focus on Christ. Allow God to be the only person on your mind while you read this prayer. If we can take the time to read long jokes, stories, etc., we should give the same respect to this prayer. Friends who pray together, stay together.

Dear Lord, I thank You for this day. I thank You for my being able to see and to hear this morning. I'm blessed because You are a forgiving God and an understanding God. You have done so much for me and You keep on blessing me. Forgive me this day for everything I! have done, said or thought that was not pleasing to you. I ask now for Your forgiveness.

Please keep me safe from all danger and harm. Help me to start this day with a new attitude and plenty of gratitude. Let me make the best of each and every day to clear my mind so that I can hear from You.

Please broaden my mind that I can accept all things.

Let me not whine and whimper over things I have no control over. Let me continue to see sin through God's eyes and acknowledge it as evil. And when I sin, let me repent, and confess with my mouth my wrongdoing, and receive the forgiveness of God.

And when this world closes in on me, let me remember Jesus' example -- to slip away and find a quiet place to pray. It's the best response when I'm pushed beyond my limits! . I know that when I can't pray, You listen to my heart. Continue to use me to do Your will.

Continue to bless me that I may be a blessing to others. Keep me strong that I may help the weak. Keep me uplifted that I may have words of encouragement for others. I pray for those who are lost and can't find their way. I pray for those who are misjudged and misunderstood. I pray for those who don't know You intimately. I pray for those who will delete this without sharing it with others. I pray for those who don't believe. But I! thank you that I believe.

I believe that God changes people and God changes things. I pray for all my sisters and brothers. For! each and every family member in their households. I pray for peace, love and joy in their homes that they are out of debt and all their needs are met.

I pray that every eye that reads this knows there is no problem, circumstance, or situation greater than God. Every battle is in Your hands for You to fight. I pray that these words be received into the hearts of every eye that sees them and every mouth that confesses them willingly.

This is my prayer.
In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Just repeat this phrase and see how God moves!!
Lord I love you and I need you, come into my heart, please.

Pass this message to 8 people except you and me.
Don't ignore and God will bless you. Know that you are already blessed by the person who sent this to you.

Well, here in Belarus, it keeps teasing us with spring in the afternoons, and then huge snowstorms come evening.  We've had a good 3 inches of snow in just the past hour or so.  I've been getting ready for my next class in the Bible School which starts next week and goes for 3 weeks.  It is one of my favorites, Christian Leadership (which I've taught several times), and this year we're doing an extra week on Discipleship (first time teaching it), so it should be good.  I'll be driving up to Vilnius, Lithuania with my daughter on Friday for a Father/Daughter outing (3 hours driving each way), will also be doing a little work there as well.  We'll probably go to the movies together (especially as they are in English in the theaters there).

I'm very happy though right now, just won an auction on Ebay.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3880556060

What is good about this is not the camera... I'll be selling it pretty quickly.  But the lenses were what I was after.  Just the one lens, the Pentax-F 1:4 50mm has been going on ebay recently for $250 all the way up to $396.  I'm not sure the value on the other lens, but I would guess it is $100 or so.  And the body is worth a little, probably $50.  But because the guy didn't label it like he should, not too many people saw it, and I got the whole kit for $200.  WOOHOO!!!!!!

My wife is so nice, she's saying don't you dare resell it, you keep it all!!!!!!!
A watched clock never boils.

Pastoral Ministry: Spiritual Discernment

Therefore give to Your servant an understanding heart to judge Your
people, that I may discern between good and evil. For who is able to
judge this great people of Yours?
--1 Samuel 3:9

That so-called Bible religion in our times is suffering rapid
decline is so evident as to need no proof, but just what has brought
about this decline is not so easy to discover. I can only say that I
have observed one significant lack among evangelical Christians
which might turn out to be the real cause of most of our spiritual
troubles. Of course, if that were true, then the supplying of that
lack would be our most critical need.

The great deficiency to which I refer is the lack of spiritual
discernment, especially among our leaders. How there can be so much
Bible knowledge and so little insight, so little moral penetration,
is one of the enigmas of the religious world today....

If not the greatest need, then surely one of the greatest is for
the appearance of Christian leaders with prophetic vision. We
desperately need seers who can see through the mist. Unless they
come soon, it will be too late for this generation. And if they do
come, we will no doubt crucify a few of them in the name of our
worldly orthodoxy. But the cross is always the harbinger of the
resurrection.  We Travel an Appointed Way, 111-112.

"Therefore give to Your servant an understanding heart to judge Your
people, that I may discern between good and evil. For who is able to
judge this great people of Yours? Amen."

Yes, I can, larry.  But I can not play cdr's in the xbox like I can other dvd players.  I am wondering if the xbox isn't compadible. hmm..could be.  I just need to find a dvd player.

Ruth Ann Bice

Hi, friends,

Larry, good advice. I primarily need to be onsite, but have used the opportunity to work from home a number of times.

Many thanks to you who have supported me in prayer. This last 5-6 days has really been rough.

While I was really nervous about picking up responsibilities again, by lunchtime I was feeling more like my old self.

Had a nice conversation with a fellow cane-carrier at lunch. In fact, he was finished with his booth and it was delightful to be able to slide in there. We discussed the merits of various styles of canes, etc. How nice to have just a mundane conversation.

Y'all have a good evening.

Ruth Ann
...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Al Moak

May our God absolutely FLOOD you with blessing, Ruth Ann!  I'm so happy to hear you say you began "feeling like your old self again!"  I pray it'll continue and increase.

Joyce - you are so very right!  Our God deals with us more through times of difficulty than in any other time.  We may - and even should - pray for deliverance from troubles, but we also need to thank Him for walking with us through them.
