Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!...For there the Lord commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.
Psalm 133:1, 3

How sad it is to find that in many of the companies of the Lord's people there is disharmony under the surface.

One of the greatest problems is our personalities. We all are made differently but we are exhorted by the apostle Paul to maintain unity.

The problem is exacerbated when there is disunity in leadership. This permeates through the whole company and ultimately means a lack of blessing. Am I responsible?

This is so serious that I should put it right without delay, lest it be carried even to the next generation.
—Brian Russell

Jesus, Friend of human kind,
Let us in Thy name be joined;
Each to each unite and bless;
keep us still in perfect peace.
—C. Wesley

Good morning everyone.  I see I am the first to post after the fine devotional this morning.  I just had to shut the blinds as the sun popped over the horizon and after a day and night of steady rain and then last night a lot of thunder and lightning the sun looks mighty good.

My test went well, I think, as was able to do it without bringing on the angina.  I was tired when it was over but as it was raining hard we ate at the little coffee shop in the doctor's building.  They had turkey lasagna and it was quite good.  We took some back roads home in order to stay off the Internet.  It takes a little bit longer but the drive was more pleasant and when it is raining the Interstates are subject to wrecks and big backups.  It will be a few days before I can learn of the results of the test as the doctor apparently had to do a bunch of calculations using the data they gathered from the test.  The worst part was having a before and after blood gas test done by drawing blood from the arteries in both wrists.

Today we get to go back to the general vicinity of the hospital, to a Kaiser Permanente facility, so the surgeon can do a biopsy on Pat's hip.  It looks like the weather will cooperate today.

Tonight is choir practice.  It seems like the first part of this week has just sped by.

Liz, like you I need to get my income taxes done and filed today if possible.  I think I am going to file electronically this year since it is so late.

Al, hope the editing is going well.  I think your friend is paying you a large compliment in requesting that you do this work.  It would also be great to have them publish your own studies and writings.

I see I have used up all the time I have this morning so will make this a brief posting.  Hope everyone has a good day.

Ruth Ann Bice

Good morning, friends. I decided to wear navy blue and lilac today - reminds me of colors I used to wear as a teenager - AHHHHHH, for the good ole days!  ;)

Y'all have a good day.

Hurrying through so I can leave for the hospital.  The phone has rang twice since I have been online and Ivalou came over once.   I am praying I find Jerry more alert and talking some today.  I will post an update in the Prayer thread later tonight.

After I leave the hospital, I am going to Tony and Charlene's...will cut off about 25 miles of driving and with the gas prices, every little bit helps.  Then I will go to Small Groups from there.

I will be home in time to start a NEM for tomorrow.

Talk to you all later.  God Bless You All.

March 23 - Jesus Christ Our Creator

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"For by Him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by Him, and for Him" (Colossians 1:16).

Before one can really know Jesus Christ as Savior or Lord, he must acknowledge Him as offended and rejected Creator, because He was our Creator first of all. This is such an important doctrine of the New Testament that it is remarkable how rarely it is emphasized in modern evangelicalism.

Creation by Jesus Christ is the doctrine with which John begins his great gospel of salvation: "In the beginning was the Word, . . . All things were made by Him; . . . and the world was made by Him, and the world knew Him not" (John 1:1,3,10). It is the foundational message of the book of Hebrews: "God. . . . Hath in these last days spoken unto us by His Son, whom He hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also He made the worlds" (Hebrews 1:1-2).

The apostle Paul said that he had been called specifically to preach "the unsearchable riches of Christ; And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ" (Ephesians 3:8-9). When a person becomes a believer in Christ, receiving His very life by the new birth, he is said to be "renewed in knowledge after the image of Him that created Him" (Colossians 3:10).

In the final book of the Bible, Jesus Christ is called the "Alpha . . . the beginning . . . the Almighty" (Revelation 1:8), as well as "the beginning of the creation of God" (3:14).

But of all the Biblical passages identifying Jesus Christ as Creator, the most definitive of all is our text for today. Everything in heaven and earth was created by Him, and for Him! "For of Him, and through Him, and to Him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen" (Romans 11:36). HMM

Good Morning. Thank you Pat for your devotional this morning.

Monday at our WM's it was not the usual thing we had more of a business meeting to discuss the plans for the group and what the Pastor Danny would like us to be doing as well as the District Council's direction for us. One of the things we are discussing doing is to mentor the teenage girls and this summer having them come to the WM meetings as well. They will b e able to see and do what we do and learn how to conduct these meetings.Plus they will participate in our projects for the community.

Yesterday the Easter Basket ministry of our church gave out 200 baskets that were made by one of our ladies in our little goup to the children of needy families.

Well I am going to get dressed and have my breakfast then if it is not pouring rain at 8:30 I will go to Tai Chi Class.

Carol I also bought a used Tai Chi tape, I found it was easier to go to a class to SEE how it is done. It takes about three months of practice at least 3 times per week to get it learn to do it properly.  It is a slow excersize that uses every muscle of your body if you are doing it right. It is so gentle that you are not straining at any of the movements.

Good morning!  We had our workout, and our "trainer" is adding more things to our routines.  Then we swam for half an hour, came home, fixed and ate breakfast, and now here I am!  Isn't that all just fascinating?  ;)

And still the Terri Schiavo case drags on..................how can people be so totally devoid of mercy and compassion?  :'(

Darrel went to Garden to take his motorcycle to be repaired.  The kids who lived in our rental house had really torn it up.  Stole or lost the key, jerked the cables off, etc.  Grrrr.....wish people would leave thing alone that don't belong to them!  Anyway, I'm "on my own" for the day, so will go see what I can get into!  ;D ;D

Janet, at 2:30 am this morning, I couldn't sleep so turned on the TV and I couldn't believe the ruling!  I'm heart sick over this ruling.

And I was speaking to Ruthie yesterday (via email) and she's astounded at the way folks are feeling about it here (as I am).  "Let her die in peace!" is the most common answer that everyone is saying.  No one seems to think that this is murder.

It's so sad.

Pastoral Ministry: How Much I Could Have Done

And not only as we had hoped, but they first gave themselves to the
Lord, and then to us by the will of God.
--2 Corinthians 8:5

Before the judgment seat of Christ my service will be judged not by
how much I have done but by how much I could have done. In God's
sight my giving is measured not by how much I have given but by how
much I could have given and how much I had left after I made my
gift. The needs of the world and my total ability to minister to
those needs decide the worth of my service.

Not by its size is my gift judged, but by how much of me there is in
it. No man gives at all until he has given all. No man gives
anything acceptable to God until he has first given himself in love
and sacrifice....

In the work of the church the amount one man must do to accomplish
a given task is determined by how much or how little the rest of
the company is willing to do. It is a rare church whose members all
put their shoulder to the wheel. The typical church is composed of
the few whose shoulders are bruised by their faithful labors and
the many who are unwilling to raise a blister in the service of
God and their fellow men. There may be a bit of wry humor in all
this, but it is quite certain that there will be no laughter when
each of us gives account to God of the deeds done in the body.
That Incredible Christian, 105.

"Help me to give of myself completely today, Lord. I hold nothing
back, even if at the end of the day I'm the only one with a
bruised shoulder. Amen."

I think we need another grin...................

The test I gave my math class covered everything we'd studied all year -- fractions, percentages and portions of whole units. But maybe I could have explained things a little better. To the question "What portion of a foot is six inches?" one student answered, "The toes?"

For any who might be interested, I am reediting the Psalms studies, bit by bit.

I just got back from choir practice a little while ago.  For Easter morning we are going to sing a wonderful song by Natalie Sleeth called "Joy in the Morning".  I did an internet search and found a very nice recording of it that you can listen to on a Real player at the following location: http://www.hopepublishing.com/html/main.isx?sub=31&workid=1378.  I have sung it on several occasions and it is a joyful song to sing and has a wonderful message of the joy we should be feeling knowing that Christ is risen.

Pat had her biopsy this morning and then we waited about an hour to have a prescription filled that she needed.  We then stopped at a Mexican restrurant for lunch and then went to the library.  By the time we got home I had to have a nap as was tired.  So this day has gone by very quickly.

Hello all!  Today was my first day back at work.  Wow.  I missed the kids something awful, and was glad to get back home to them.

Nothing really exciting in WNC right except that Bernard has Friday off.  WooHOO.  I'm working on a portfolio for a teaching award I am up for.  That procrastination thing again.  It is due Monday, and I am trying to get at least a chunk of it done tonight so that I can show it to my supervisor tomorrow.  We'll see how much I get done.

So, it's off to type some more.  Take care and have a good Wed. night, thursday morning!
