JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

ARE ANGELS JUST FOR KIDS?

"Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?"
(Hebrews 1:14)

Most of us heard about our guardian angel when we were just children; and, in those days, it was a comforting thought. With monsters lurking behind the closet door and creepy things crawling beneath the bed, it was good to know that someone was there to protect us when the light was out.

But, as the years passed, we outgrew our childhood fears. The imaginary creatures that had once seemed so real disappeared from our minds--and sadly enough, for most of us, the angels did too.

But angels are not just kid stuff. They're powerful spirits sent forth to minister for us who are heirs of salvation.

The word salvation in Hebrews 1:14 is from the Greek word soteria meaning deliverance, preservation of material, and temporal deliverance. Think about that! God has created vast numbers of gloriously powerful spiritual beings for the express purpose of protecting us and delivering us from the evils of this world.

And remember, according to Psalm 103:20, the Word of God is what puts those angels in action. So when you're in trouble, don't cower and cry about how awful things are. Speak the Word! Give your angels something to respond to. Then be patient and let them have time to work. They'll get their job done.

Prayer: At Home in the Prayer Chamber

Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went home. And in
his upper room, with his windows open toward Jerusalem, he knelt down
on his knees three times that day, and prayed and gave thanks before
his God, as was his custom since early days.
--Daniel 6:10

Thomas a' Kempis wrote that the man of God ought to be more at home
in his prayer chamber than before the public....

No man should stand before an audience who has not first stood before
God. Many hours of communion should precede one hour in the pulpit.
The prayer chamber should be more familiar than the public platform.
Prayer should be continuous, preaching but intermittent.

It is significant that the schools teach everything about preaching
except the important part, praying. For this weakness the schools
are not to be blamed, for the reason that prayer cannot be taught;
it can only be done. The best any school or any book (or any article)
can do is to recommend prayer and exhort to its practice. Praying
itself must be the work of the individual. That it is the one
religious work which gets done with the least enthusiasm cannot but
be one of the tragedies of our times.  God Tells the Man Who Cares,
70-71.

"Lord, I pray today that I might more and more be at home in my
prayer chamber. It's exciting to be in the pulpit; it's vital to be
in the closet. Let me do this work with deeper commitment and
greater enthusiasm. Amen."

I Just Found out that our cousin, Albert, in Holland has died during the night last night.

Perhaps you could keep John's Mom in prayer today as I have the job of telling her today.

The suffering has been great.

Thankyou

Judy

Janet

Judy, good to see you, but so sorry to hear of Albert's death.  How is John's Mom doing lately?

Chris, have you done that Canopy Tour?  Sure looks like fun!  ;D

REMINDER:  Don't forget to set your clocks forward one hour tonight! Of course, that only applies to those of us who have Daylight Savings Time.  It's also a good time to check those batteries in your smoke detectors.

Marilyn and Jane, tomorrow is also my grandson Mark's birthday.  He will be 19 (already!!)  We are going to Hugoton this afternoon to take pictures of him before he leaves for his Senior Banquet and Prom.  I asked him last night "Should I bring anything?"  And he said "Your camera!"

Speaking of cameras, Pat, did you get some pictures yesterday?

And Karma, we are still waiting for new pictures of your babies!

See you later.

Pleasantly Full

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"For it pleased the Father that in Him should all fullness dwell" (Colossians 1:19).

Oh that we could know what is in Christ so that we could experience His fullness! Scripture tells us that "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God" (John 1:1). "In Him was life; and the life was the light of men" (v.4). "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
. . . And of His fullness have all we received, and grace for grace. For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ" (vv.14,16-17). Part of Christ's fullness is the visible expression of our invisible God.

Likewise He was responsible for the creation, for "All things were made by Him; and without Him was not any thing made that was made" (v.3). David, likewise, knew of this handiwork: "The earth is the Lord's, and the fullness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein" (Psalm 24:1). The response of the creation should be: "Let the sea roar, and the fullness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein. Let the floods clap their hands: let the hills be joyful together" (Psalm 98:7-8).

Beyond Jesus' fullness and that of the creation, there is a fullness of time; the expression of events, in order, according to His timetable. "That in the dispensation of the fullness of times He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in Him" (Ephesians 1:10).

No doubt Jesus, as God, looked upon His creation of the world and time and took pleasure in it, calling it "very good" (Genesis 1:31). Likewise, as our text teaches, the Father took pleasure in revealing His character, bodily, in the person of Jesus in all His fullness. KBC

Good Morning: It is still early here on the west coast. I don't have to be at work until after 11 so I have lots of time at home to relax and do a few things around here. Although I don't really have much to do. I will be going over to the Food Bank later to see if there are any fresh veggies and fruits. There usually are.

Not much else is new here today. Supposed to rain more and more tomorrow.

I will be back later.

I have received an answer about my older computerized sewing machine but it isn't the full answer I need.  Then, this thought occurred to me - sometimes there is no full answer or one we really like from our prayers but it does get settled at some time.  One night this week, I  could not sleep and only dwelt on all the unanswered prayers and then slowly, I made myself think about all the wonderful answered prayers and that just overwhelmed the little stack of no answers.  Our minds can play tricks and we can think the worst - how easy it is so slip into that dark fog.  It is good to see the true light.

Etta Sue:  My front entrance faces east so it gets only the morning sun and the various herbs and some flowers are budding through.  Otherwise, thank goodness for Evergreen trees spaced here and there.  The Aspen trees are budding.

Liz:  What fun with your grandchildren and teaching them a lesson.

CheckSix:  Have a safe and wonderful trip!

Pat:  I am praying for your good health.

Larry:  You are in my prayers as well.

Marilyn:  I hope that you found some fresh veggies.  Otherwise, I head for the frozen - we do have one store here that has very good prices on fresh veggies.

So much news on the Pope today and coming from people of all faith - I saw Franklin Grahmn.  I do remember the Pope coming to the Denver area years ago and the thousands of young people who came to see him - it was inspiring.

Some Humor

Careful with criticism

An elderly woman walked into the local country church. The friendly usher
greeted her at the door and helped her up the flight of steps. "Where
would  you like to sit?" he asked politely.
"The front row please." She answered.
"You really don't want to do that," the usher said. "The pastor is really
boring."
"Do you happen to know who I am?" the woman inquired.
"No." he said.
"I'm the pastor's mother," she replied indignantly.
"Do you know who I am?" he asked.
"No." she said.
"Good," he answered.

I just heard that the POPE has died ... well actually at 2:30 E.S.T. so what do you think ?

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  This has been an interesting day.  It is sunny but very windy here.  I thought my son was coming over to have coffee at the cafe with us this morning but he didn't make it.  He called after I got home and said he had fallen back asleep.  He did come over and shortened the cable to my new TV card in my computer and put in another 128 megs of memory that he now had excess as he had upgraded to 512 megs and couldn't use these memory modules in his computer.  I see a difference in the speed.  He also brought over a two-way splitter for the cable as I had been using a three-way splitter and that was affecting the quality of the computer.

Shortly after my son came over we lost power and it was out for 3 hours in an area of our town.  Guess the outage must have had something to do with the wind.  When the power came back on I found that my TV card had great reception now so the splitter was obviously the problem.

Pat went over to her friends house to do a little more reflexology as her friend is still suffering with the sciatica.

Janet, that was a fine devotional this morning.  The subject of angels is something I have never really understood very well.

These grandchildren certainly grow up quickly.  They don't stay small very long as Marilyn knows with Forrest and Janet, you well know with your grandchildren.

Judy, sorry to hear of the passing of John's uncle.  He is the one who has been so ill isn't he?

Tbear, I also  heard a few minutes ago that the Pope has now died.  He certainly has written his role in history.  There must be a lot of politics that will now occur as the process of selecting a new Pope begins.

Marilyn and Janet, I have been enjoying humor you have been sharing.

I am looking forward to the men's basketball Final Four games this evening and the women's Final Four games tomorrow to be followed up at the first of the week by the championship games.  Then it is time for Braves baseball to start.

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Pat

Hi Everyone...

Can't sit here long but wanted to just say "Hi" to you all.

Thanks Janet for the devotional today and hello to the rest of you.  We've had the worst snowstorm today.  I'm sure it won't last long though as the ground has started to warm up.  Just a silly spring storm.

I'm so sorry about Albert, Judy.  Thanks for letting us know.

As I've been lying in my bed today, I've been singing this.  It's a lovely hymn.  Thought I'd share it and we could sing it together.

Jesus Is the Sweetest Name I Know
(Click to hear music)

Thy Name is as ointment poured forth.
Song of Solomon 1:3

Words & Music: Lela B. Long

There have been names that I have loved to hear,
But never has there been a name so dear
To this heart of mine, as the Name divine,
The precious, precious Name of Jesus.

Refrain
Jesus is the sweetest name I know,
And He's just the same as His lovely Name,
And that's the reason why I love Him so;
Oh, Jesus is the sweetest name I know.

There is no name in earth or heav'n above,
That we should give such honor and such love
As the blessed Name, let us all acclaim,
That wondrous, glorious Name of Jesus.

Refrain

And some day I shall see Him face to face
To thank and praise Him for His wondrous grace,
Which He gave to me, when He made me free,
The blessed Son of God called Jesus.

Refrain

Janet ~ I do believe that Indiana is going to join most of the other states in DayLight Savings Time.  BUT it isn't official enough to change our clocks tonight (tomorrow morning).  But I have heard that it will happen around June 5th.  Something to get used to, I guess.  Oh, yes!  A great devotional today, Janet.

JudyB ~ Sorry to hear about Albert in Holland.  I am sure this is a relative of Ria's, too.

Thanks for the humor and all the devotions.  What a great way to start a day.  Oops!  It is 4:37 p..m.!  Still great humor and devotions.

My phone rang at 8 a.m.  It was my son, Tony.  I was awake but still in bed soaking....playing with the cats.  Anyway, he came up and fixed the tires on my (his, really) lawnmower and started charging the battery.  He had to leave.  So I did some garage cleaning...took some trash to my brother's for trash pickup...rearranged 'stuff' and swept the floor with my ShopVac.  I took the charger off and the lawnmower started so I mowed the lane to the woods and back.  Then I put the charger on the Honda mower.  I got the mail and took it to Ivalou's.  Then came home and fixed a bite to eat and washed the dishes.  The Honda still wouldn't start but it isn't the battery as much as it is the starter but it did run sometimes last year.  So I will try it again some other day.  Ivalou came over and cut my hair...how is that for a beautician?  So I showered after she left.  I was late reading my Bible today and getting on the pc but here I am.  Busy day.  BTW, it is very windy here today.  Really cold if you are in the wind which I was going to the woods and back.  But, thank God....no snow like Guelph had!!!

Lynn called me this afternoon.  She saw her Dad and it sure doesn't sound good.  I think I had better go tomorrow after church.

FIRST OFF ... Etta I have enjoyed the e mail today that you have been sending to me & the other's I have enjoyed them very much ....

HERE IS SOMETHING FUN ...
HAS ANYONE HERE CONSIDERED PAINTING THERE ROOMS ... READ THIS FIRST !!

Consider Color *

Color therapy is the practice of using color for emotional, physical, and spiritual well being. Each color affects us differently, as do various shades and tones. Some get us excited, others calm us down. The conscious use of color in décor in public places is well documented – fast food joints, for example are renown for using a vibrant red / orange palette to help us eat fast and move on. Studies in prisons have shown that inmates are move violent in bright red rooms and less in light pink rooms. Those of us who want to get maximum pleasure from our home should take the emotional effect of color schemes into account, particularly in the bedroom, where we spend so much more time. In choosing a scheme, remember: Warm colors make people productive and energetic; cool colors are soothing and relaxing; dark colors can be dressing; and clear colors are the most uplifting.

RED: People who are anxious or fearful should not use red since it can enhance those feelings. It should not be overly used in rooms other than exercise rooms, but it can be good in dining room, since it increases appetite and thirst. It has aphrodisiac qualities, so it can also be used in moderation in bedrooms.

BLUE: The color of introspection, blue is a good for bedrooms of people who have trouble falling: it is sedating and restful. Blue is not good for people suffering from depression; it will enervate them more.

YELLOW: Dimly lit rooms would be well being painted yellow. It is also good for rooms where mental acuity is important – a home office for example. Yellow is good for people who take life too seriously and need to have more fun.

GREEN: The color of healing, green rooms gives a sense of health & cleanliness. It's good where people congregate, such as family rooms and living rooms, since it promotes cooperation.

ORANGE: Orange represents a blend of vibrancy of red with the intellect of yellow. Good in the kitchen and where people socialize orange represents happiness, health, and enthusiasm. It's good for relieving depression and fostering optimism.

PURPLE: Considered a " feminine " color, is said to increase creativity, foster spirituality, and overcome lethargy. It's good for rooms where creative work is done but should be avoided by those prone to depression.

WILD NIGHTS SHOULD BE OUR LUXRY !

PS: I will see you all on Monday & tell you all about my special night out with my husband last night so stay tune ... and I hope to scan what he gave me to share with you too. So, have a blessed weekend everyone !!

hugs & love

Ruth Ann Bice

Hi, friends,

Well, no word as to whether they found a brain and/or veins, but at least that's over. Also, for the next 48 hours cannot take my diabetes meds, because something about interaction between the dye used and the meds could cause kidney failure. So, I'm very very cautious about eating anything today and tomorrow. Thus far, though, the glucose readings are fine, if a bit low, in fact.

Well, want y'all to know again how much I love each of you. It's so good to hear your conversations.

The Best Way To Pray:

A priest, a minister and a guru sat discussing the best positions for
prayer  while a telephone repairman worked nearby.
"Kneeling is definitely the best way to pray," the priest said.
"No," said the minister. "I get the best results standing with my hands
outstretched to Heaven."
"You're both wrong," the guru said. "The most effective prayer position is
lying down on the floor."
The repairman could contain himself no longer.
"Hey, fellas," he interrupted. "The best prayin' I ever did was when I was
hangin' upside down from a telephone pole."

Sorry to hear about Albert passing away.  I believe he was Ria's father, am I right?  I miss Ria's posts., perhaps Judy B., you could tell her how much she is missed.  I wrote her several months ago, but got no reply.

Etta Sue:  I'm concerned about Jerry.  Thats so sad that he is not recovering.

Well, myself, I believe the Pope was born again.  What are your feelings?  I also felt that way about Mother Theresa as well.

So many need our prayers.  So I'm off to the prayer forums to see who all I should be praying for.

Thanks Janet for reminding us to "spring forward"!

Love to all......Judy M.

Papa John

Well, I have been absent for awhile.  Right now we are in the middle of our Florida visit.  This is the 12th year we have spent a month in March/April here in Bradenton.  What I miss the most is my high speed internet access which I have at home.  Here I have to depend on a dial up connection which is paid for by the minute so I can't stay on line very long.

Today Pope John Paul II died.  Though I am not a Roman Catholic I respect this man who has had such an influence by his leadership for over a quarter of a century.

We are enjoying our time here.   We have a pool here which we can keep nice and warm.  I am able to swim every day.  We have had some great sea food meals at the restaurants.  We also enjoy the church here where we worship here.  They welcome us each year with open arms.

Rom 6:16-18
16   Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
17   But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.
18   Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.
(KJV)

Papa John - I know it wasn't your intention to make people jealous, but I am anyway!  Hope you have a GREAT time down there.  Quite a few years ago now, my wife and I had a little over a week on Kuai.  Some friends had a timeshare in a condo there, and right outside there was a pool.  Oh how wonderful!  And the ocean was only about 50 yards more.  And there was a restaurant associated with it where the birds would come right in and alight on your table.
