Morning Devotional...

They entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus.
Luke 24:3

At the empty tomb—this is the first occurrence of this lovely title "The Lord Jesus".

Soon it becomes familiar in the Acts of the Apostles and in the Epistles, but this is the first mention.

For thirty-three years, in Nazareth and throughout Galilee and Judea, men had known Him only as Jesus.

But now His tomb is empty, the Crucified is risen, victorious from the dead, and He is "The Lord Jesus".
—Jim Flanigan

He is Lord!
He is Lord!
He is risen from the dead and He is Lord.
Every knee shall bow,
every tongue confess
That Jesus Christ is Lord.
Author Unknown

Kneel at the Cross
(Click to hear music)

Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name
that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confesss that
Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Philippians 2:9-11

by Charles. E. Moody

Kneel at the cross,
Christ will meet you there,
Come while he waits for you;
List to his voice,
Leave with him your care
And begin life a new.

Refrain
Kneel at the cross,
Leave every care
Kneel at the cross,
Jesus will meet you there.

Kneel at the cross,
Give your idols up,
Look unto realms above;
Turn not away
To life's sparkling cup;
Trust only in His love.

Refrain

Hi Everyone, I haven't been on for a few days since Terry Schiavo died.  I agree with you Janet about the judge and the husband.  I think there will be some big changes with regards to this subject.  I know that Tom DeLay was very upset and disgusted with the outcome and said the Judges that don't protect the vulnerable and weak need to be impeached.  I agree totally.  I was glad to see that the court ordered Michael Schiavo to inform the Shindlers where the burial plot will be so they can visit their daughter.  I had to shut my mouth at work because there actually were people there who ageed with Terry being starved and deydrated.  I didn't want to get into a row!

And now the Pope has died.  Every chanel on television had the events surrounding his death.

God Bless

Love Ruthie

Good morning everyone...  I figured I'd say that even though I've not been posting much lately, I'm still lurking around and reading when I have the chance.

I get to see my wife tonight! :)  She's been away on business for quite a while and she finally gets to come home.  Perhaps that will give me more time to get involved again. :)

Prayer: Our First Responsibility

I rise before the dawning of the morning, and cry for help; I hope in
Your word. My eyes are awake through the night watches, that I may
meditate on Your word.
-Psalm 119:147-148

Briefly, the way to escape religion as a front is to make it a fount.
See to it that we pray more than we preach and we will never preach
ourselves out. Stay with God in the secret place longer than we are
with men in the public place and the fountain of our wisdom will
never dry up. Keep our hearts open to the inflowing Spirit and we
will not become exhausted by the outflow. Cultivate the acquaintance
of God more than the friendship of men and we will always have
abundance of bread to give to the hungry.

Our first responsibility is not to the public but to God and our own
souls.  God Tells the Man Who Cares, 115-116.

"Lord, why does our first responsibility so easily get crowded out?
Quiet me today that this first thing might get the time and attention
it deserves. Amen."

With the death of the Pope and other things I thought I'd look at a non Biblical "prophecy" I'd heard about that supposedly lists all the popes untill the end. According to St. Malachy there are only two popes left on the list.
Interesting reading. Makes one think anyway.

Hi Papa John....don't get water-logged!!!

I am wondering if a child is born with a bad defect if the judges would rule to remove feeding tubes.  Or a Senior that cannot eat on his own.  Wonder where it will stop if we don't stop it now?

I am ready for church....I was hoping to find some pictures of Jerry's son, DIL and grandson in an email but I didn't.  Maybe tomorrow.  Lynn called me yesterday after visiting so I have decided to see Jerry after church today.  God Bless Jerry.

Acceptable Sacrifices

"Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ" (I Peter 2:5).

In the Old Testament theocracy of Israel, it was the responsibility of the Levitical priesthood to be "daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices" in atonement for the sins of the people, and this continued until Jesus Christ "offered one sacrifice for sins for ever" (Hebrews 10:11-12). The old priesthood has now been set aside. Only the sacrifice of Christ and our identification with Him through faith is acceptable for our salvation.

Nevertheless, there is a new priesthood-a spiritual priesthood offering spiritual sacrifices-and it is vital that we who are now His priests offer sacrifices that are acceptable and pleasing to God. The first and most basic sacrifice is set forth in one of the Bible's key verses: "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service" (Romans 12:1).

Three other acceptable sacrifices are outlined in the concluding chapter of Hebrews. "By Him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to His name. But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased" (Hebrews 13:15-16).

The continual offering of praise to God, in all circumstances acknowledging His wisdom and goodness, is an acceptable sacrifice. Doing good works-not for our salvation but because of our salvation-is acceptable. So is "communicating" (Greek, koinonia)-sharing what we have with others. With these sacrifices, God is "well pleased." It is our high privilege as His holy priesthood to offer up these spiritual sacrifices. HMM

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone and Happy Birthday Jane.

I need to leave for church in about 5 minutes but will write a few lines as our son will be back this afternoon to put some chemicals on the lawn to control the fire ants and keep bugs and spiders out of the house.  He is also going to work on my computer.  Yesterday he called and said he had purchased 256 megs of memory for my computer from eBay (the same person where he purchased new memory for his computer) and got it for a very good price.  So shortly I will have 512 megs of memory on my desktop and it should work more quickly.  He is also going to fix one of the commodes in that sometimes doesn't want to turn off.

Etta Sue, certainly sorry to see your posting that Jerry seems to be failing and now has an infection.  Do hope you find him better today when you visit.

Pat, that was a very good devotional this morning.  Hope today finds you feeling better and the snow melted away.  Our flowering trees are now in bloom and the yards are greening up.  It is suppose to be in the 60s here today after a chilly day yesterday.

Jim, glad to see you posting again.  Know you will be happy to have your wife home.  Does she travel a lot in her work?

Guess I had better get on the road.  Pat isn't feeling up to getting out this morning.

Good Morning I am ready for church and I actually slept in for an additional 45 minutes this morning. I needed that because in the middle of the night I was awakened with terrible pain in my neck and could not get back to leep..

Pat thank you for the devotional and I do pray that you are feeling better today than yesterday.  May thge Lord bless your day to be free of pain.

Etta Sue did I miss something about Jerry having an infection?

Hello Ruthie, Smokey, and Jim and whoever else posts today.

We are having a birthday party for Forest today at Round Table Pizza parlor at 2 pm. When I called Gilbert last night he said "Oh I forgot to call you and tell you about the party." Well that certainly put me in my place.   :'(  Not too happy about that especially when I was feeling like the forgotten relative already.

Got to go now.

Happy Birthday to yuuuuuuu....Happy Birthday to yuuuuuu.....Happy Birthday dear Jaaannne.  Happy Birthday to you.

I've been watching the many stories of the life of John Paul 11.  Not being Catholic, I didn't pay much attention to his life or how he walked that life in holiness.  I am so impressed with the man.  Some have said that he wanted to live his sickness and in his last days, his death, in front of the people.  He wanted to teach them about death as well as life.  My dad died of the same thing as he, and I've carried guilt thinking that if we could have kept him home longer, kept him from the nursing home where he died, maybe he wouldn't have gotten this.  In the vatican being so open with the pope's illness, I have been relieved of this sorrow and secret guilt.  I know he got the best of care and still the infection went into his bloodstream.

So...here's this non catholic woman, never knowing a thing about the pope, sitting on the other side of the world, and God touched me with healing of heart.      Thank you, Lord.

AAAaaahhhh  T'anks so much, all y'all!!

Marilyn ... I love the card ! You are getting sooooo good with that PSP.  Thanks.

Larry ... Thank you for the Birthday wishes ... It seems funny to me (of course, a lot of things seem funny to me) that I have come to this age and still don't feel "mature" yet ...

Pat ~ A beautiful card!  I love blue and those little robins are sooo cute.  Thank you!

And then there's NITA singing to me!!  Thanks, Bestest!   I wonder when "Maturity" will kick in?[/b]
I'm so grateful for the way the Lord meets us at the very point of our need ... places that we try to keep so secret and carry concealed within ourselves ... HE KNOWS and HE CARES!  I'm smiling with you for this healing of heart.   :)

A little humor before I go off to Forest's birthday party and prayer meeting at 5 pm. I may not get back here before prayer meeting.

Goat for Dinner:

The young couple invited their elderly pastor for Sunday dinner. While
they  were in the kitchen preparing the meal, the minister asked their son
what  they were having.

"Goat," the little boy replied.

"Goat?" replied the startled man of the cloth, "Are you sure about that?"

"Yep," said the youngster. "I heard Dad say to Mom, 'Today is just as good
as any to have the old goat for dinner.'"

Tell me, Jane - you say you don't feel "mature" - what does "mature" feel like?  I've got all kinds of aches and pains.  Does that count?  If so, then don't bother getting there!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO OUR DEAR JANE!!  And many more!

This has been a great day!  Our pastoral candidate and wife are just wonderful, and I feel in my heart that the next time I sign on, our church will again have a pastor!  Praise God.  He understood our heartache and frustration and had exactly the right people ready to send to us.

I attended an old time gospel singing this afternoon at the Senior Center.  There were people from several different churches and denominations there, and it was refreshing.  It's always good to praise the Lord with many brothers and sisters.

My computer is confused---it seems it "sprung forward" by TWO hours instead of one!  I hope I can figure out how to reset it.

Jane, I'm not sure just how we would define "mature" either!  It probably means something different to each of us.  A pretty smart lady told me once that "It's not how old you are, but how you are old."  I find that to be so true!

I think I might rest a few minutes before time to go to church again.  See you later.

Janet:  How I rejoice with you at the prospect of having a new Pastor coming to your church.  This will give all the congregation a much needed lift. - wonderful news!!

AL~I don't have aches and pains, at least not like a lot of people I know, and I keep waiting to get to that fabled place of "acting your age" but I don't know where or what that is, either!  My sister said "age is all in your mind, and your mind is young and vital ... " so I guess that's it.  I'm happy to be still healthy and happy in the Lord and enjoying His blessings New Every Morning!

Thanks Judy Mc~I really appreciate you and the love and compassion I see in all your posts.  I am blessed whenever I think of you or see your beautiful smile!

Karen~ Thanks for the Birthday wishes.  I am not very good at keeping up with all the celebrations here (or anywhere) but I congratulate you and Rolan on 27 years of marital bliss!

Janet~Thanks!  I'm not concerned about my age ... or lack of acting it ... It just surprises me to think that I am already heading into a new decade (as my daughter puts it!).

Hi, friends,

Tbear, may you and your hubby experience many more anniversaries, and Jane, I hope today has been a great birthday for you.

It's a beautiful day here in Nashville. A good day to worship our Lord.

Y'all take care.
