JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

Mary...sat at Jesus' feet and heard His word. Sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed and in his right mind.
Luke 10:39; Luke 8:35

Mary sat at the feet of Jesus, and so did the Gadarene. They were conquered by love.

They had surrendered and gone over to His side.

How sweet the conquest!

How deep the peace!

What satisfying rest!

Has his love captured you? Is the ground at His feet holy for you? Do you diligently seek out that place of refuge and learning?
—M. Peters

Low at Thy feet, Lord Jesus,
this is the place for me;
Here I have learned deep lessons,
truth that has set me free.
J. N. Darby

If on my Soul a Trace of Sin Remaineth

If on my soul a trace of sin remaineth,
If on my hands a stain may yet be seen;
If one dark thought a wearied mind retaineth,
O wash me, Lord, till every part be clean.

For I would live that men may see thyself in me,
I would in faith ascend thy holy hill,
And with my thoughts in tune with thy divinity,
Would learn how best to do thy holy will.

Janie, that's absolutely wonderful. I know your pride in finishing - I didn't graduate from college until age 49 - tried really hard but circumstances kept me each time from finishing. And, like you, I graduated with honors. It's a great feeling.

Our internet connection was down last evening.

No time to converse this morning, must hurry off to work.

Much love to all.

Ruth Ann

A Nail in a Sure Place

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"And the key of the house of David will I lay upon his shoulder; so he shall open, and none shall shut; and he shall shut, and none shall open. And I will fasten him as a nail in a sure place; and he shall be for a glorious throne to his father's house" (Isaiah 22:22-23).

This prophecy was originally applied to Eliakim, the keeper of the treasuries in the reign of King Hezekiah. The wearing of the key to the treasuries on his shoulder was symbolic of authority. Isaiah, in fact, had used this same symbol in his great prophecy of the coming Messiah, saying that "unto us a Son is given: and the government shall be upon His shoulder" (Isaiah 9:6).

Eliakim thus became a type of Christ in his capacity to open and shut doors with his special key. The Lord Jesus quoted from this passage in His promise to the church at Philadelphia: "These things saith . . . He that hath the key of David, He that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth; I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name" (Revelation 3:7-8). This strong assurance has been a great bulwark to many who were trying to maintain a true witness during times of opposition and suffering.

But Eliakim was also called "a nail in a sure place," and in this also he becomes a wonderful type of Christ. Eliakim was trustworthy in his office, and so is Christ. The nail in a sure place speaks of stability in time of trouble, as Ezra later said: "Now for a little space grace hath been shewed from the Lord our God, . . . To give us a nail in His holy place" (Ezra 9:8). Eventually, of course, Eliakim's nail had to be removed (Isaiah 22:25), but never that of Christ, for He is "an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast" (Hebrews 6:19) who will never fail. HMM

Good Morning: The wind is blowing and the rain is falling. It hailed yesterday. If it is still pouring later today,Versal told me not to come to work for her. I have to walk into her apartment a ways and would really get soaked, However I do have an umbrella. Gilbert came by last night for a visit with me and I just relaxed so did not come back here to read or post.

Congratulations Janie on your Graduation. Now on to University for you.

I'll be back

Congrats on your graduation!!  An education is one of the greatest things you can ever give yourself (of course, I'm an educator, so I might be a bit biased).

We have nowhere to go today.  Hallelujah.  We have been running around like chickens with our heads cut off this week, and I am exhausted.  Today, I am going to piddle on soem housework, and tomorrow (Saturday, YEA) we may go to Pigeon Forge to the air museum to see the Warbirds Memorial.  It's a "little" airshow.  Pretty informal and stuff, but it has airplanes, and that's all that matters to Travis.

Speaking of Travis, he is trying to crawl under the bed right now.  ???

So, little man is wanting back on the computer now (he likes ot play his dad's games -- golf, football, flight sim.  You know, normal three year old things. ???)

Just an fyi, if ever I post and it is all lower case, and short, I am probably holding the baby and can only type with one hand.  I'm not totallly ignoring all rules of grammar, etc. :)

Sonifo

hahahaha... Karma.  Glad you can relax today..hmmm...or do you get to relax with a 3 year old and an infant ??? NOT! hehehe..

We have a busy weekend ahead of us.  I won't be back in till Monday.  Hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

I need to get going. I am wanting to take a picture of Chandraya for a photogenic contest.

Congratulations to Janie on finishing high school!  Good for you!

Karma, have a great weekend.  You, too, Soni, and we want to see Miss Photogenic when the pictures are done!  ;D  Sure is nice to have such great subjects to photograph, isn't it?

I just made a discovery!  It is only on NEM that that pesky find bar stops me, I can use contractions on the other pages just fine.  Boy, it is hard to remember not to use contractions.  >:(

We will be leaving later today to go up to Manhattan to K State to watch Curtis' ROTC group tomorrow.  Then Mark also wants to go to Salina, because that's where he will be attending college, and they are also having their open house this weekend.  Salina is an hour from Manhattan, so we will be on the road a lot!

See you all on Monday!

Hi Janet.  I sent you a way to get rid of that Stop Bar in your Firefox configurations.  I was hoping it would work for you.  Did you get it?

Pat, the devotional was so good.  Isn't it wonderful to contemplate simply sitting at the feet of Jesus.....and in our right mind, with His peace, His joy, and the assurance that this is exactly the place we belong.  Thank you for posting that today.  It was for me.

Congratuations on your graduation, DesignTrade, and also your great grades!  I know you feel the sense of accomplishment that is yours.   ;D

Congratulations Janie.  Well done!

Janet, are you going to finish that sentence??  That 'evil elf' grabbed the rest of your post. :-\

Stopping in to post something about yest. subject regarding the same sex marriage problem.  Read it this morning.  Also read about how we have had our own Terri S.  happening in Canada...without most folks knowing.  Can post this article if anyone is interested.  What a difficult world we now have to struggle with....but it is stilll a very beautiful world.  God is very much in control.

Teacher Suspended Three Months for Defending Traditional Marriage
Only those who support same-sex "marriage" are permitted to comment publicly on this important social issue.

In a decision handed down on April 4, 2005, Quesnel School District Superintendent Ed Napier suspended school counsellor Dr. Chris Kempling for three months.

"It is a sad day ... "
Dr. Kempling has been employed as a counsellor since 1990, and has been active in a wide variety of volunteer positions in the community. He is also the local spokesperson of the federal Christian Heritage Party, and had written a letter to the editor of the local newspaper on behalf of his party, criticizing the Liberal government's same sex marriage legislation. The school district did not provide a single example of disruption to the school system, or any negative effect of the letter. They also ignored over a dozen letters of reference from supervisors and community members written in support of Dr. Kempling.

"It is truly unfortunate that the Quesnel School Board believes that only those who support same sex marriage are able to comment publicly on a matter of national importance," stated Dr. Kempling. "It is a sad day for freedom of speech, freedom of conscience, and freedom of political affiliation. But more significantly, I am most concerned about the young children with serious emotional needs, who will be deprived of their counsellor at a time when they need help most. Counselling, much more than teaching, involves a close personal relationship where trust develops over time. I'm really very worried about their well-being."

Dr. Kempling plans to fight the suspension through the grievance process, as well as through the B.C. Human Rights Tribunal under the category of political discrimination.

God Bless and hope that someone does read my posts once in awhile....

No, Nita, I didn't get it.  How did you send it?  Email?  I will check again, because that thing is frustrating me to the point where I do not want to even post in here.  Grrrrrr!  Thanks for your help.

Liz, I ALWAYS read your posts, and enjoy them, too.  The "evil elf" stopped me three or four times while trying to get my post finished, and each time I have to go ahead and post, go to modify and then continue.  VERY aggravating.  >:(

Thanks for posting the article.  What in the world is going to happen in this sin sick old world by the time our great-grandchildren are in their teens?  It is sickening and scary.  Yes, God is still in control, and I wonder just how much more He will allow before this once-Christian nation (and others going down the same slippery slope) will be punished.  God bless those like the counselor in your article who still have the guts to stand for what is RIGHT.

Amazing picture TBEAR!

Takes me back 10 yrs ago when I was pregnant.  What a blessing to have that moment captured in a picture. ( I was going to say film, but with digital pics and all, I don't know how to say it now!)

Hope everyone is having a great day.  (every day in the Lord is a great day!)

Prayer: Overcome Distractions

But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your
door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father
who sees in secret will reward you openly.
--Matthew 6:6

Among the enemies to devotion none is so harmful as distractions.
Whatever excites the curiosity, scatters the thoughts, disquiets the
heart, absorbs the interests or shifts our life focus from the
kingdom of God within us to the world around us--that is a
distraction; and the world is full of them. Our science-based
civilization has given us many benefits but it has multiplied our
distractions and so taken away far more than it has given....

The remedy for distractions is the same now as it was in earlier and
simpler times, viz., prayer, meditation and the cultivation of the
inner life. The psalmist said "Be still, and know," and Christ told
us to enter into our closet, shut the door and pray unto the Father.
It still works....

Distractions must be conquered or they will conquer us. So let us
cultivate simplicity; let us want fewer things; let us walk in the
Spirit; let us fill our minds with the Word of God and our hearts
with praise. In that way we can live in peace even in such a
distraught world as this. "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give
unto you." The Set of the Sail, 129-132.

"Lord, it's certainly harder and harder to shut out the
distractions of an increasingly science-based civilization. Help
me to cultivate simplicity, to be satisfied with fewer things,
and to find the inner peace that You can give in a life of prayer
and meditation. Amen."

Hie everyone.  Designtrade, congratulations on finishing your high school and those were very good grades.

This has been a day of meetings for me.  This was our men's Friday morning coffee and during that another man and I went over to the City Hall (right next door) to meet with the mayor and councilman and the city administrator regarding a special event that is being planned for Novmeber 11th.  One of our men built a beautiful display case that he put in the Senior Center with pictures of all of the men from this town who served in World War I.  His father and several other relatives served in the war.  About 15 of the men's coffee group each contributed to the cost of the display case and are the sponsors.  On November 11th the relatives of the veterans will be invited to a special ceremony and luncheon that the sponsors and their wives will serve to them.  It is a nice gesture to recognize our veterans.

Then today was our monthly SeniorNet Computer Learning Center volunteer meeting.  It was a pretty short meeting and then we were provided a business luncheon.  Pat went to the Senior Center with me and we stopped at the library for a little while and then went to our friends home.  Our friend is still suffering very much with sciatica and Pat did more reflexology on her feet and massaged her legs for her.  We then came home and I took a nap.  Feel much better now and trying to get caught up on the discussions here.

Marilyn, it sounds like you and Al are about to wash away out there.  We have had quite a bit of rain but not in real downpours.  We also lost electricity from about 10:45 pm last night until 3:15 am this morning.

Janet, now that is really a read hat.  I like you new picture.  I hope you get the information that Liz sent you and that it will solve your problem.

A special hello to all who have posted or will this evening and to whom I haven't addressed comments.  Need to get busy on my e-mail and some other work.

Not much to say today.  Congratulations, Janie, on your graduation.  Exceptional grades, too!

I visited Jerry.  It was boring.  A great day.  I did post in Prayer Requests and Praises.  I am tired.  Need to get my feet up.

But we are to have a very, nice warm weekend.  Maybe I will get my twigs picked up out of the yard and perhaps mow.  (Here goes Etta Sue again....mow, mow, mow!)

Hi Everyone...

Just got in the door.  I was kidnapped--by my son!  LOL

He came after work and said, "Terena has a roast so come on over and Terena's parents will take you home."  So, they brought me home but just now.

It was nice to get out though.
