Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

KEEP QUIET

"A fool uttereth all his mind: but a wise man keepeth it in till afterwards."
(Proverbs 29:11)

One of the things that you and I as believers must learn if we want to be faithful servants in the kingdom of God is how to keep our mouths shut. We need to master that skill.

When we get our backs up about something, we think we have to let everybody know about it. "I'm just going to give them a piece of my mind," we say.

Don't make that mistake. Nobody wants or needs a piece of your mind-- and if you give it to them, you'll only end up alienating people and bringing harm to yourself. Instead, learn to keep quiet.

This especially applies in the area of spiritual insight. When the Holy Spirit gives you discernment about a situation, don't go spreading it all over town. If you do, you'll come to the place where the Lord can't trust you with revelation and insight into things and situations.

I've seen that happen. I've known intercessors who have received revelations about someone's weaknesses or needs. They have been given insight into the problem in someone's life, so they could pray for that person. But, instead of keeping that information between themselves and God in prayer, they told others about it. As a result, they lost their effectiveness as an intercessor.

Don't let that happen to you. Develop the quiet art of the wise man, and the devil will find it increasingly difficult to harm your prayer life and ministry to others.

Speaking of keeping your mouth shut ( a lesson I could use many times), have ya'll heard on your news station about the church in the small town that "ousted" members because of their political affiliation?  I ask, not because I want your opinion on it, or because I particularly want to discuss it (I don't -- the whole situation is mortifying for some of us in the town), I'm just trying to get a "feel" for how much it is being discussed "out there."  Obviously it is all over the news and papers here, and it was on the main ABC news tonight, but other than that, have ya'll heard about it?

Today is a cool day.  A chocolate chip cookie to anyone who can tell me the most important event (in my opinion) that happened on this day, 8 years ago . . .

Hope ya'll have/had a wonderful Tuesday.

hmmm...I have no clue, Karma!  I will think on it tonight and hope nobody answers it. ;)

Howdy all!  I have been sooo very busy with pictures, but making some money in the process so that is a good thing.  I think I need a bigger monitor. hehehe...

oops..a big thunderstorm is rolling through.  weee.. what fun!

Liz

It is 'out there' Karmat.  I read about it in a Vancouver paper this morning.  Another notch in the belt of the secular world.....

Someone once wrote:  "It's okay to speak your mind.  People who matter, won't mind.
                              People who mind, don't matter."

Hmmmmm!! ?

God Bless,

Liz

Anniversary, perhaps?

I've heard some about that situation, but honestly forget where the church was located.

Have a blessed day!

Guidance

I live a life of promise and purpose as I follow a divine plan of good.
The promise of my Creator is that I never have to go through anything alone in life. God is my constant, caring guide.

My divine purpose is defined as God guides my thoughts. I make decisions that impact my life, and God's plan for me is clear.

I participate in thought and action as I follow my divine plan. I am one with God, receiving understanding, experiencing health, and realizing prosperity. I am sure of where I am going and what I am doing. I live each and every aspect of my life to its full potential whether I am completing everyday responsibilities or moving out from the familiar to make new discoveries.

It's true: I live a life of promise and purpose as I follow a divine plan of good.

for your name's sake lead me and
guide me."

Karma: I think that is the day you and Bernard got married.

I heard about that situation from Fay when I went to work yesterday. but didn't pay any attention to the news last night as I was busy  doing the things I needed to do here at home.

Janet: Wonderful, Wonderful devotion this morning. It sure applies to me. Thank you for the reminder, I needed that.

Has anyone noticed my new photo, Gilbert took that on Mother's day.

May 10 - Render a Reason

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"The sluggard is wiser in his own conceit than seven men that can render a reason" (Proverbs 26:16).

This passage contrasts the lazy person who fancies himself to have a grasp of the issues with those who can "render a reason." What does it mean to render a reason? It implies having carefully studied a matter such that one can present persuasive arguments for their position. This activity is indeed hard work and is distasteful to the sluggard.

Peter commands the believer: "But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear" (I Peter 3:15). We are commanded to be apologists, ones who can defend their faith. This does not
necessarily require that we have a particular advanced degree. Indeed, the Bible informs us, "Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus" (Acts 4:13). Being regularly under godly instruction and studiously in the Word of God will prepare us to reason with the unbelievers we
contact.

Some suggest that we should never dispute with unbelievers. Yet we find Paul "went into the synagogue, and spake boldly for the space of three months, disputing and persuading the things concerning the kingdom of God" (Acts 19: 8 ). These are strong words of defense and debate. Jude exhorts us to "earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints" (Jude 3).

Believers must stand up and disagree with false doctrine, without being disagreeable. May we always be like Stephen, who in Acts 6:9 was found disputing in the synagogue and yet had a sweet spirit, even forgiving his murderers. DW

Hello!  It is as glorious day here today!  Just perfect!  We have had our exercise, whole new routine again, watched the 700 club, and now are getting ready to do tile work.

Happy Anniversary, Karma and Nards!  (Is that the right answer?)  And yes, I did hear about the church stink.  Terrible.  Sorry it happened in your town, I didn't know that.

Beth is sick today with a stomach ache and nausea........... :P

I need to go help Darrel find the glue trowel!  Glad you liked the devotional, back later.

I slept so good last night.  I don't know if it was the non-drowsy meds or I was just so tired from lack of sleep.  I didn't cough.  I am stuffy this morning but taking meds to hopefully and prayerfully get over this cold once and for all.

I have a load of clothes on the line.  Sheets...I love line dried sheets!!!

Tony or Charlene are to come tonight to get the candles that she ordered from my niece.  I always look forward to seeing them.  I was going to go out to eat with a friend but she called with other plans.  So now it is Friday night.  She works....I don't.  So we go out around her schedule.

Going to be a hot scorching day in Indiana.

Hi all,

hope everyone is fine since I have been away.

going to check around the site.

By the way, I was so surprised the other day --a friend emailed me
and told me all about my last messages here.  I was surprised that
she knew about them because I did not even say I was here.

But she said--she was "fooling around" her computer and in the
search the web put in my name and up popped my name and
profile listing in Christian Photo forum ...

I was surprised to hear that. I didn't care because I want
everyone to know about my faith but was curious....

Did anyone know that you can put your name in search and it
pops up your profile here.??

Take care and as always,

Love in Christ,  Joyce

woohoo..I have a job interview at Walgreens to work in the photo department.  I hope it goes well.  Wish me luck. hehehe

Preaching: Deadly Rationalism

And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human
wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, that your
faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.
--1 Corinthians 2:4-5

There is today an evangelical rationalism not unlike the rationalism
taught by the scribes and Pharisees. They said the truth is in the
word, and if you want to know the truth, go to the rabbi and learn
the word. If you get the word, you have the truth....

But revelation is not enough! There must be illumination before
revelation can get to a person's soul. It is not enough that I hold
an inspired book in my hands. I must have an inspired heart. There is
the difference, in spite of the evangelical rationalist who insists
that revelation is enough....

In His days Christ's conflict was with the theological rationalist.
It revealed itself in the Sermon on the Mount and in the whole book
of John. Just as Colossians argues against Manichaeism and Galatians
argues against Jewish legalism, so the book of John is a long,
inspired, passionately outpoured book trying to save us from
evangelical rationalism--the doctrine that says the text is enough.
Textualism is as deadly as liberalism.  Faith Beyond Reason, 23-24.

"Lord, I believe strongly in the inspiration and authority of the
Scriptures; I am committed to expository preaching. So I see the
danger and pray that You might keep me from this error of
textualism. Amen."

Time for a smile............

I HAD JUST STARTED a job at a downtown bookstore when I realized how expensive it was to park. Since the bus stopped only a block away, I decided to leave my car at home and try public transportation. Wearing a shirt and tie, I boarded to find several passengers eyeing me suspiciously. Minutes later, one woman leaned over to her friend and loudly whispered, "DWI."

We got all the carpet, pad, and tack strip pulled up, the water shut off to the commode and a shut-off installed to it, and the floors all clean.  Tomorrow we will start doing the tile.  Seems we cannot work that hard for a full day any more.  (Or don't want to?)  :P

Sue

:) :) I have good news/bad news from the doctor.  I had fallen and twisted my ankle a couple of weeks back, and it just didn't seem to be healing, I still have some pain.  I didn't have it x-rayed at the time, so "assumed" that it would be done today.  It wasn't, the doctor examined my foot and ankle, and determined that I have no broken bones, just a torn ligament that could take several weeks to heal.  I do not need a cast or tensor bandage, just must take it easy and keep my foot up if possible.

I have just spent an exhausting couple of days eradicating a virus from this virtual machine.  Norton scanner didn't pick it up, but when I went to the Symantic website and ran their "on-line" scanner (took 6-7 hours for it to do), I was given a report and the file name of 3 infected files.  I then searched and found two files, deleted them, and the third file cannot be found.  I believe it was deleted with one of the other two files.  I will be going on line and re-running the Norton scan overnight tonight to make sure.

Marilyn, I like your new photo.

Pat, I'm thinking of you often.

It was nice to hear that many had an enjoyable Mother's day.

I must get going, I am heading out for an evening of Ladies fellowship, we are learning to "cross-stitch".   I'm sure it will be a relatively small craft, and most likely fairily easy to me as I already do this type of craft, but I am sure I will enjoy the company.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.

I have had a quiet day as haven't felt very good, just sort of tired and out of sorts.  I did go to the grocery store for a few items this morning and used the motorized cart to get up and down the isles.  That seems to really help as I could shop without wearing myself out.  I was feeling tired, however, when I went.

I heard from the heart transplant coordinator this morning that the viral load test I had done last week came back negative, as I expected it would.  She also told me that the Kaiser doctors have signed off and approved advancing my case to the National Transplant Center.  She has to get the medical director to signoff and then she expected to overnight my case to the National Transplant Center.  She told me their committee meets every Tuesday so it will be at least a week from today before I would hear anything.

I am going to participate in a video conference with a special interest group from the PC User's Group in Huntsville, AL around 7:30 this evening.  It should be an interesting experience.

Ruth Ann Bice

Hi, friends,

I have had a very quiet day - a day to research and get some unanswered questions taken care of - so I feel much more refreshed than usual on a Tuesday night.

Larry, I'm thankful - VERY thankful - you've receive this positive information. I'm continuing to pray for you.

I, too, think it may be Karma and Nards' anniversary today.

If not, then potential is there for this being the anniversary of conversion.

Y'all have a good evening.

Ruth Ann

SUNSHINE!  WE HAVE SUNSHINE!

My daughter's birthday is today, but somehow I don't think that's what Karma was speaking of. :)

Larry, I appreciate so much that you keep us updated.  I'm praying for you, my brother. We are waiting, with you, to hear the news.
Your video conference sounds really interesting.

Sue, take care of that foot. That sounds painful.  Glad you got your virus, virii? taken care of.  I'm thinking of doing a Housecall scan later this evening.  Just a checkup.

Ruth Ann......I'm glad you're having a refreshing evening.  My goodness, you surely need one of those now and then.  But there will be the day...............the last day at work..........and you can retire!  Won't that be fun??

Joyce, I remember putting my name in google before and getting a Seniornet hit.  I guess once we're "out there", we're out there and the more you put "out there", the more other people have access to your information.   The world is getting smaller and smaller. huh?  Your words have always been filled with the love of God, and I'm sure whatever anyone found of you, dear Joyce, would bring glory to Him. :)

Did I tell you we have sunshine!! LOL    Nita

I'll have to admit, Nita, it felt really strange to need to use my sunglasses as I left work today!!!  ;D

I've done an update of prayer requests that have had updates in the prayer request section of our site. Please follow the link to review.

Also, if you've placed a request there, check your request to see if you've given us a recent update. We care - we pray - and it's important to learn of the progress of those for whom we pray.

Larry, it is good to hear that your plans for the heart are "on track" and I continue to pray for you as well.  It is educational just reading of the process involved, and thank you for sharing.  How was your video conference?  This modern technology is amazing.  How is your Pat feeling by now?  Give her my love and best wishes, will you?  Thanks.

Nita, glad you had sunshine today!  Doesn't it just make you feel "better all over more than anywhere else?"

Ruth Ann, I hope you have more of those not-so-stressful days.  You need them, for sure!

We just got home from a meeting at our church which was for all those interested in the music ministry.  There was a really good turnout!  We are so blessed to have our new pastors.  The refrigerator at the parsonage "died" and one of the members had gotten a new one, so we went to help unload it and remove the old one.  It is so refreshing to be around so many people who love each other and are in unity!  Praise God.

Bedtime for Janet!  See you all tomorrow!
