Janet: Hello, Friends!  Let's get this going again!  I miss  hearing from all of you! 2025-01-23, 19:26:16

Don: Hey Judy, It's been a long time. Hope you are doing well. 2024-12-02, 22:41:41

JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Oldiesmann: So sorry for your loss Carol. Praying for you and your family :( 2022-05-01, 17:13:05

Carol: My husband Don is with the angels.....Our family was able to hold  ourselves together for the last moments.  Juar rhoufhr you might want to know. 2022-04-29, 23:35:15

Morning Devotional...

River of Revelation

"But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves."
(James 1:22)

Have you ever been in the position in the past where every time you opened the Bible you received a river of revelation? Does it seem lately that the river's run dry? If so, I strongly suggest that you backtrack to the last revelation God gave you. Back up and see if you acted on it, if you did what God showed you to do. If you didn't, start again, digging into that revelation and then putting it into action in your life. You'll soon find new revelations are beginning to flow.

You see, revelation is most prolific when you are acting on the Word. I've discovered that for myself again and again. The more I act on the Word, the more I see into it. That's why James 1:22 tells us to not only hear God's Word but to DO IT!

It may seem that the things God has revealed to you are very insignificant. They may not even make good sense to your natural mind. But do them anyway! If you had insight into the spirit realm, you'd see they're far more important than you think.

Open God's Word anew today. Come before Him expecting a fresh revelation of the Scripture and commit to Him to follow it up with obedience. Be a doer of God's revelations and not a hearer only and your river will never run dry.

Scripture Study: James 1:22-27

Nice devotional, Janet.  Thanks.  Proverbs 10:9   "The one who wqlks with integrity walks securely."

Another week almost over and Friday the 13th is almost history.  How did that superstition about it being sinister, ever get started?  My poor brother was born on Friday the 13th....hmmm!

Not much to say so will try for a small smile:

Pondering

Here are a few things to ponder (if you're not busy enough) !

Can you cry under water?

How important does a person have to be before they are considered assassinated instead of just murdered?

If money doesn't grow on trees then why do banks have branches?

Since bread is square, then why is sandwich meat round?

Why do you have to "put your two cents in"...but it's only a "penny" for your thoughts"?
Where's that extra penny going to?

Once you're in heaven, do you get stuck wearing the clothes you were buried in for eternity?

Why does a round pizza come in a square box?

What did cured ham actually have?

How is it that we put man on the moon before we figured out it would be a good idea to put wheels on luggage?

Why is it that people say they "slept like a baby" when babies wake up like every two hours?

If a deaf person has to go to court, is it still called a hearing?

If you drink Pepsi at work in the Coke factory, will they fire you?

Why are you IN a movie, but your ON TV?

Why do people pay to go up tall buildings and then put money in binoculars to look at things on the ground?

How come we choose from just two people for President and fifty for Miss America?

Why do doctors leave the room while you change? They're going to see you naked anyway.

and finally...

If a 911 operator has a heart attack, who do they call?

Do you ever wonder?
;) ;) ;D

Pleasant evening/day and God Bless.

Liz

Those are great, Liz.  I'm glad I don't have to answer them.  But can we assume that you will answer them for us?

Marilyn

Thank you Liz Ineeded to see that. Rotflol  :D :D :D :D

Good devotional Janet I needed that too.

Went to the Youth service tonight, good turn out, 50 kids from Jr high age to high school. Gave away an I-Pod, $20.,  a CD and a Backpack as prizes for some games, Pastor gave an altar call and 6-7 kids got saved.

That's great Marilyn!!

Other "ponderings"

-- Why do we drive on a parkway and park on a driveway?
--  Why is it called "bacon" when we fry it?
--  Why do our feet smell and our noses run?
-- Why is filling "out" a form the same as filling it "in."
-- Why do "burning up" and "burning down" mean the same thing?

i gotta get some sleep!

Inner Peace

I am calm and serene as I rest in the ever-present love of God.

My day may be filled with all manner of distractions that seem to shout for my attention. In the rush, I may spend time I fully intended for prayer dealing with matters at hand. Yet, it is precisely during these frantic periods of the day when I truly need to go within and draw on the peace of God that is always there.

Before I begin to embrace the challenges of a new day, I take a moment to open my heart and mind to God. I linger for a few moments in silent, inward reflection and prayer. Quietly, the cares and concerns of the workaday world melt into a sea of calm, spirit-filled assurance.

With a renewed perspective and with peace and joy in my heart, I am ready for anything this God-given day may bring. In all things and in all circumstances, I eagerly anticipate God's good.

"To set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace."

May 14 - The Imperatives of Redemption

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto His disciples, how that He must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day" (Matthew 16:21).

The little word "must" (Greek, deon) conveys urgency and necessity and is frequently used in connection with the redemptive work of the Lord Jesus Christ. When He was just a lad, He told the learned men in the temple: "I must be about my Father's business" (Luke 2:49).

But then the first time this key auxiliary verb is found in the New Testament is in the comprehensive prophetic statement of His mission, as given to His disciples in our text. He must go to Jerusalem to suffer, and die, and be raised the third day. As He was moving toward that climactic event, "He said unto them, I must preach the kingdom of God to other cities also: for therefore am I sent" (Luke 4:43). Furthermore, "I must work the works of Him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work" (John 9:4).

He had much preaching and much work to do in that brief three-year interim in world history. But then He must die!

And why must He die? Because "the scriptures must be fulfilled" (Mark 14:49). "These are the words which I spake unto you . . . that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me" (Luke 24:44).

And how must He die? "As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up" (John 3:14). But then, of course, "He must rise again from the dead" (John 20:9).

To what purpose must He be lifted up on the cross to die and then be raised again? Why, because "there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved" (Acts 4:12). HMM

Preaching: A Voice Instead of An Echo
But Peter and John answered and said to them, "Whether it is right in
the sight of God to listen to you more than to God, you judge. For we
cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard."
--Acts 4:19-20
To escape the snare of artificiality it is necessary that a man
enjoy a satisfying personal experience with God. He must be totally
committed to Christ and deeply anointed with the Holy Spirit.
Further, he must be delivered from the fear of man. The focus of his
attention must be God and not men. He must let everything dear to
him ride out on each sermon. He must so preach as to jeopardize his
future, his ministry, even his life itself. He must make God
responsible for the consequences and speak as one who will not have
long to speak before he is called to judgment. Then the people will
know they are hearing a voice instead of a mere echo.  God Tells the
Man Who Cares, 133-134.
"Lord, I'm going to sit quietly before You this morning and make
sure these challenges are indeed the expression of my heart today.
Amen."

Marilyn I have been thinking a lot about Jenny lately too, could you let me know what is going on as well?

Also Janet I love the red hat, Marilyn you will have to take a picture of yourself in your red hat for us all to see!

Did you know there are beautiful cottons that has red hats all over them?  I know several ladies who have made quilts out of the red hat cottons.  Talking about quilts I am making one for Elizabeth with horse prints.

Have a God day everyone

JudyB, if you love quilts, you should have been at the mother-daughter banquet with me last night!  So many lovely quilts, all kinds and some from the 1800s.  I did pray, and I am praising God with you for the answers!

Liz and Karma, those were good!  I grinned the whole time I was reading them.

Miss Abby thinks she would rather stay with Grandma than go to Amarillo with her family, so I will probably be picking her up later.  They are going to get stuff for Mark's graduation reception next Sunday.  It doesn't seem possible he will be out of high school and off to college already---how time does fly!

I had a lovely time last night with my girls at the banquet.  It was also Diane's birthday, so that was an extra treat.  She brought my mothers day gift, a lovely prayer journal by Lisa Whelchel, autographed to me!  She met Lisa at Market in Kansas City a few months ago.  I received a beautiful musical water fountain with dolphins for my work decorating for the banquet, also a nice carnation corsage.  And I won a gift certificate to my favorite restaurant, Alejandro's!   ;D ;D  Beth won a door prize, and gave it to Diane for her Birthday.  Wasn't that sweet?  Diane also won a nice door prize, foot massage therapy products, they really smelled nice!  I will post photos of the decorations, etc.  later.

My carpets either need to be vacuumed or we need to plant potatoes in them!  Better get with it!

JudyB ~ Shame on you!!!  I had seen that maze thing before and didn't win.  This time I was determined.  I was almost done and ....well, you know what happened!!!  Shame on you!!  But on a better note, I am so happy you will be with us more and YOUR day went the way you wanted it to go.  Sometimes it seems God isn't listening but he always answers in his time.  God bless you and yours.

Liz and Karma ~ I really liked your list.  Lots of things to ponder about.  So funny.

The devotionals are wonderful.  Lots of food for thought.

My cold is much better.  Now I sound like a bullfrog with a cold.   ;D

Last evening my friend called...she works at WalMart in the finance department...and said she couldn't get to her car, it was raining so hard.  Wasn't raining here yet.  But soon it came.  I don't think I have ever seen the wind blow so hard and severe.  Hail was with the rain but it only lasted a few minutes.  Judy called when she got home so I got in my car to go get her.  Just east of me was a tree across the road so I turned around and went another way.  West and south of me was another tree down.  I still have leaves plastered to my west windows on the house.  The yard is full of little twigs and leaves.  It rained hard while Judy and I were eating but we didn't get wet getting to the car.  Also rained after I got home.

Today everything looks soggy.

Today is my brother and SIL's big 50th Wedding Anniversary Open House.  Ivalou and I are planning on being there the whole time since we will see people we haven't seen for years!!!

Ruth Ann Bice

Hi, friends,

I've been out shopping this morning (between showers) and am here for lunch and to rest a bit. It appears my son's depression is in full force right now. How sad for him, and indeed frightening for me.

Ruth Ann
...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Janet

Ruth Ann, thanks for the "heads up" about Leslie.  Prayers for him are being redoubled in this household.

Etta Sue, sounds like you had a wet evening!  Whew!  I'm surprised you didn't just decide to stay in and have your supper with your friend another evening!  Way to go, girl!  So glad your cold is on the way OUT!  ;)

I'm doing all kinds of chores around here, playing catch up.  Abby called and said her daddy tempted her, and she is going with them to Amarillo.  I asked her what he tempted her with, and she said "Steak!"  So I had a big laugh out of that!  I told her she is just like her brothers!  ;D

Ok, back to my chores.........................

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.

Janet, you were surplanted by a steak dinner :)  Aren't children wonderful and so honest when they are young.  It sounds like you all can use a little quiet time.

Ruth Ann, so sorry to read that Leslie is having such a time.  I know this just creates so much more tension and concern for you.

Etta Sue, that sounds like a terrible storm.  Glad you didn't have any damage and that you weren't on the road when the trees fell.  The celebration tomorrow sounds like it will be so nice.  I will always remember how much my folks 50th wedding anniversary celebration met to them and the many friends that turned out to celebrate with them.

JudyB it is good to see you posting again and am glad that things have worked out to your satisfaction.

Karmat and Nards, hope you have a lovely evening out.  Our children were 15 months apart and I can still remember (even though it has been many years) that that rare evening out was always a treat.

Janet, thanks for the devotiional for today and Marilyn and Chris I also thank you for the devotional thoughs you have shared with us today.

LIz, Al, Carol and anyone I may have missed mentioning or who stops by later I hope this has been a good day for you all.

This was a very busy and tiring day for me.  I took my daughter to the Hyundai dealer and bought her a new car.  It was the least expensive one they have, a little three door hatchback, but handles very well and hopefully will get very good gas mileage.  It was an Accent and it has a 5 year/60 thousand mile bumper to bumper warranty and an extended warranty to 100,000 on the powertrain and transmission.  They offer an additional extension of the bumper to bumper up to the 100,000 miles for an additonal $543 and we may get that but have 30 days to decide.  The car she got has to be delivered from Fayetteville, NC, so it will be Monday or Tuesday before she can get it.  However, they provided her a little red new Accent to drive until then.  She didn't want the red one as knows the local police target people who drive red cars.  The transmission was going out in her old car and it had over 125,000 miles and was eating us alive in gas.  She has about 6 months more of schooling and then hopefully will be able to work and take over the payments on it.  What an exhausting experience.  I came home and immediately took a nap.

See you all tomorrow.

JudyB

There are times I simply cannot get over God's Grace and Goodness.  When you think about it how can we mortals think we are capable of anything good.  It all comes from Him.  All we can do is praise Him.

Janet I do not quilt yet.  It looks like a BIG job.  I prefir projects that can be completed in short order.  I am tackiling the horse quilt and I will learn with Elizabeth.  It will be for her as well.

I am glad Etta Sue that you enjoyed the new mouse!  LOL

Have a good day folks, and remember, when the sky is the darkest, that is when you see God's hand at work the most.

Carol

Marilyn:   Thanks once again for your email on Jenny.  Funny that JudyB and I have been thinking of her at the same time.

Larry:  The Hyundi or whatever it is spelled is rated highly.  I hope it is as good as the 1996 Maxima I have had for 8 years and at 60,000 miles not one bill for other than normal things.  Don says I have to keep it another 15 or so years & I keep it so nice.  ;D

I will be visiting a good friend for three days and she doesn't have a computer so will check on Wednesday, perhaps.

Carol

Al Moak

Larry - I've heard nothing but good about Hyundai.  Supposedly, their gas mileage is excellent.  I know this'll be good for your peace of mind.

Judy - it IS good to see you on here again!  I pray God will bless in the troubled areas.

Ruth Ann - May our God undertake in Leslie's life.  I pray it.

Marilyn

Ruth Ann I am praying for Leslie.
