JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Diruetics work!  Oh do they ever!  I'm on them, and I've lost 11 pounds in the last week!  Four of them left during the night last night, and the result was that I didn't sleep a whole lot!  If I live through this, I'll be a lot lighter.  If I don't, then there won't be that much left anyway!  I've got a specialized physical therapist working on me every day for about an hour, and my legs are looking much, much better.  In the meanwhile I've got them bandaged (wrapped, booted, ?) to just below the knee, and I'm wearing a special shoe that velcros on to fit over the wrap.  I warn you all - when this all gets finished I'll be able to chase after you with great speed!  Had to buy two pair of new pants that would fit over these legs, bandages, etc.  They're kind of like what some young people wear.  The PT at the fitness center calls them my "gangster pants!"  All they still lack is a lot of chains/keys, etc. hanging off of them.  Oh well.  One thing at a time.  This specialized PT person turned out to be a neighbor of ours who only lives about 200 yards from our place.

Good Morning from a cool and wet island.  Tho' lots of politicians are certainly feeling the heat from Tuesday's election.  (heh, heh ;D)  My personal hope was for a more balanced cabinet in place of a dictatorship!  Don't like any of the parties we have, but what is an old lady to do?? ???

That was a good little joke, Larry.  The devotionals were a blessing.  So, thanks to all ....

All the talk about 'dirt' has made me think of a Waylon Jennings song, Dirt.  I have it on a tape of children's songs from when Amanda was a wee tyke.

Verse 1:
Dirt is quiet, it don't make noise
It's fun to play with, especially for boys
Girls don't much like it, but that's okay
Boys don't like girls much anyway

Chorus:
Dirt, dirt, good ol' dirt
Dirt, dirt, good ol' dirt
It may sound silly, but it really don't hurt
To sing about good ol' dirt

Verse 2:
It hurts just a little if it gets in your eyes
You can put it in water and make mud pies
Babies will eat it, but babies are dumb
They wet their diapers and suck on their thumbs

Chorus.

Verse 3:
It don't cost a thing 'cause it's everywhere
You can take it back home and nobody cares
You can throw it and kick and it don't even hurt
So a kid's best friend just got to be dirt

Chorus (x2).

I love good ol' dirt

;)
Some times the simple things in life are really fun.....

Pleasant day all and hope everyone feels better soon.

God Bless,

Liz

CHANGE NOT THY FAITH WITH CHANGING TIMES

Janet

Liz, that's one I have never heard, but I like it!  ;D  Good ol' dirt---where would we be without it?

Al, glad you are......uh.........shall we say MELTING away?  I take diuretics, too, but still have big, ugly pockets of retained water just below my knees, and my ankles swell if I'm on my feet a lot.  (Which means nearly every day.) Ugh.  Well, I'm not about to let it get me down, so I just keep on truckin"!  That is a unique way to meet your neighbor.  :)

Marilyn and Etta Sue, hope those colds are soon nothing but an unpleasant memory.

Pat, sorry you're still having it so rough.  I wish there were something I could do to make you feel better.  ((((hugs))))

I swam 5/8 mile and walked .60 mile, so I'm ready to start my day's work now.  Later, folks!

Etta -- I suspect that cat in your post had something to do with your weatherbug.  He's got a look like "Just go ahead and blame me.  Try it."  I sat and looked at it and just laughted.

Then, I read about Al and his 'gangsta wear.  Oh yea.  Maybe we should send him a bandana so he can sport his colors.  He's gonna be hip.  :)

It is another gorgeous day outside.  I gotta work though.  I should be cleaning the house as we speak, but I have to leave to teach in a few minutes, and I just hate to start soemthing when I know I won't be able to finish it.  Yea, that's  my story.  I'm stickin' to it.

Have a great day ya'll.  Hoping everyone under the weather gets back on top soon 'nuf!

Al Moak

Yes, Janet, "melting away!"    The problem comes when the retained water breaks through the surface - just 'cause it aint got no place else to go.  When it does this, it does it in little blister-like places, and then you've got a problem, 'casuse it could get infected pretty easily.  Then you gotta get rid of the excess water, no ifs, ands, or buts.  It's then called cellulitis, and it aint fun.  So I'm in the process of trying to get rid of the water.  The lymph system is supposed to carry it off to the kidneys and dispose of it, but sometimes it doesn't do so adequately, so then you've got lymphedema.  So, Janet, I hope it doesn't get that far advanced for you.

Ruth

Al:   Good Afternoon.

It is a beautiful sunny day here in Nobleton.  To bad I have to shut down and go to the kitchen to get some of the work there done.

Preaching: Truth Divorced From Life

But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving
yourselves.
--James 1:22

There is scarcely anything so dull and meaningless as Bible doctrine
taught for its own sake. Truth divorced from life is not truth in
its Biblical sense, but something else and something less....

No man is better for knowing that God in the beginning created the
heaven and the earth. The devil knows that, and so did Ahab and
Judas Iscariot. No man is better for knowing that God so loved the
world of men that He gave His only begotten Son to die for their
redemption. In hell there are millions who know that. Theological
truth is useless until it is obeyed. The purpose behind all
doctrine is to secure moral action....

Any man with fair pulpit gifts can get on with the average
congregation if he just "feeds" them and lets them alone. Give
them plenty of objective truth and never hint that they are wrong
and should be set right, and they will be content.

On the other hand, the man who preaches truth and applies it to
the lives of his hearers will feel the nails and the thorns. He
will lead a hard life, but a glorious one. May God raise up many
such prophets. The church needs them badly.  Of God and Men,
25-28.

"Lord, I want to be one of those bold prophets, faithfully
declaring Your word, no matter the consequences. Enable me, by
Your Spirit, I pray in Jesus' name. Amen."

Well, Al Moak, I never thought of you as a wet blanket till now!  :D
I wish you good sleep.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  Have a few minutes before trying to get some supper together as Pat is still not feeling up to  being in the kitchen.  Earlier today she made a cheese ball and was on her feet for maybe 15 minutes and is now paying for it.  She doesn't seem to be getting any better.  Guess we need to shake the two Pat's up in a sack and see if they can't both get better.

I had a pleasant surprise this afternoon when my boyhood best friend called me from Arizona.  We haven't seen each other for probably 30 years or more.  He lived on a neighboring farm and we were in the same grade.  He was a very successful executive with Sears before retiring and then was a vice-president of Best Buys for several years.  We had talked at the first of the year when I called him.  It is good to renew old friendships.

Marilyn, that temp doesn't sound good.  It sounds like you are having a repeat of your recent illness.

Al, I understand your diliemma.  While I don't take diuretics and have no swelling problems with my ankles or legs I still have the frequent bathroom trips during the night due to the seeding of the prostate that I had.  Fortunately I go right back to sleep easily.  Glad to read you are getting the fluid off of your body.

Tbear, it sounds like you all are very busy.  Don't forget to smell the roses along the way.

Matt, congratulations on that beautiful new daughter.

Ruth, you need to move your computer into the kitchen then you could continiue visiting with us when you have to be there.  :)

Karmat, it sounds like you subscribe to my theory that you shouldn't do anything today that you can put off until tomorrow.

Liz, I don't think I have heard of that Waylon Jennings song either.

How about a little more humor:

One Sunday morning, the pastor noticed little Johnny staring at the large plaque hanging in the church foyer.  He had been staring at the plaque for some time, so the pastor walked up and stood next to him.

"Johnny, do you know why all those names are on that plaque?" the pastor asked.

"No, sir, I don't," Johnny replied.

"Well, son, these are all people who have died in the service," the pastor answered.

Soberly, they stood together staring up at the large plaque.  After a couple of minutes, Johnny's tiny voicce broke the silence.  "Which one, sir--the i:30 or the 10:30?"

On that note I will say bye for today.  This is choir practice evening.  See you all tomorrow.

Janet

And another smile---good epitaph!

LAST WORDS
On a grave from the 1880's in Nantucket, Massachusetts:
Under the sod and under the trees
Lies the body of Jonathan Pease.
He is not here, there's only the pod:
Pease shelled out and went to God.

I made supper for one of the ladies who paints with me, and her husband, and took it to them.  Both are well into their 80s and neither has been feeling well lately.  She has heart trouble and emphysema (never smoked) and he is diabetic, and recently fell off a ladder and broke his elbow and his shoulder.  Both of them are rail thin.  I'm quite concerned for them, and I know neither of them likes to cook.  They do get meals on wheels for lunch most days, but that's still only one meal.  I hope they liked what I made for them.

How good to read the posts tonight!

Pat, I'm really worry you're having such a difficult time. Have added extra prayers for you recently.

Al, certainly hope the diuretics help, my friend. And, Larry, how sorry I am you're having so many difficulties.

And, Etta Sue and her poor weather bug. Etta Sue, I truly believe that weather bug has been having a fit of chills - you'd best cover it up wrmly and feed it some chicken soup!

Marilyn, hope you get better really fast. I've read a lot recently that cinnamon has good antibiotic qualities. Maybe some yummy cinnamon toast might be in order???

Yes, Tbear - I've missed you. Seems we really do get busy, doesn't it.

I worked tonight until about quarter to eight. So, I'm kinda tired and ready to sleep.

Y'all have a good evening.

Ruth Ann

Janet, I hope when I'm 80 yo, I will be able to get up on a ladder.  That would be a huge accomplishment, considering I don't like to get on them now!!!  ::)

Marilyn, I hope that by you going back to work means you are on the mend.  ;)

It's late, I'm tired, time for bed, methinks.

more tomorrow!

Etta Sue

Time to close up shop for tonight.

A new place for tomorrow is here.
