JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Jane. I will be in prayer for you, also.  I just know you must feel overwhelmed with everything happening.
Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth and the life.  No man cometh unto the Father but by me.  John 14:6

Jim

Jane, have you contacted your congressman about this?  This sounds to me like something they could solve just to make themself look good.  Meanwhile, I'll hold you in my prayers.  I know how frustrating (and fearful) financial troubles are.

Just remember that our Father is not limited by finances, and that He is teaching you something through all this.  Perhaps you'll be able to help others out in a similiar situation someday and bring God glory.

Thanks, Kathy, Jim, and Judy Mc.... I am trusting in my Father to work all things out for good ... because I love Him and am called according to His purpose ... I know that, in His time and in His way all this will be resolved and He will receive all the glory.

Jane - you know what, I think it may actually be helpful to get in touch with your congressman.  They often have a person in the office who knows just how to deal with the right people to get things done.  Mine was somewhat helpfu, though they were'nt able to get the resolution I wanted and thought I deserved.  For you it could be different.  Hey - it can't hurt!  It can't make it any worse, that's for sure.

Hi Janie,

I agree with Jim and Al .

Get everyone involved that you can!!! Our Heavenly Father is sending
you help; you are just so overwhelmed that you can't see the forest
for trees.!!

I know I am there with you, too,

One thing in all of this do you have an actual figure that needs to
be met?  With all the interest and penalties; the figure you once
had may be different.

When you get the figure; present this to your congressman and
tell them how do I get relief before the interest and penalties
take over the actual first amount.

Someone has to take notice and step in --what about the tax
advocate--call them again and tell them you have no satisfaction
in this matter.

Keep the faith and keep "bugging everyone you can think of in
this matter"

If anything you will show that you are not going to sit by and
take this any longer--the good Lord wants these problems
out of your sight and mind so you may go on and do HIS business.
The reason you were created for --to give praise and glory to HIS
name and there is no way you can do this straddled with these
financial problems.

Above all, make sure you show the devil the back door--keep telling
him to hit the road and not confuse you in these matters.  Tell
him that you are relying on Jesus Christ, who died for your sins, to
see you through these dark times.

I have done this so many times --I refuse to let the devil steal
the joy of my loving my Heavenly Father and doubting his words.

The devil hits the hardest when you are down but remember the best
thing about being down, the only place you can go is UP and looking
up to the Heavenly Father who only wants the best for you will see
you through.

AND the good news in this is that your daughters will see how you are
handling your situation with faith in HIS love, with strength to put up
the good fight and when you win (and YOU WILL WIN and this problem
will be solved, everyone will see the reason for your faith and strength.

You are not alone,

love ya, take care and as always,

Love in Christ,

Joyce

Joyce - you have given Jane some good advice here!
"I am too blessed to be stressed".

I thank you, one and all, for your advice.  I have not given you detailed information regarding my situation.  Since over a year ago I have had a Tax Attorney/Accountant working with/for me.  I signed over Power Of Attorney for the tax years 2001, 2002 and 2003.  He does all the filing, contacting, refiling, contacting, refiling of forms with IRS and, now, Oregon Dept of Revenue.  He has steadfastly assured me not to worry, that mine is a hardship case, that he knows all the forms, language, and avenues to follow in dealing with these entities.  I haven't a clue, and was facing what I saw as a deadend.  We know the exact amount they are asking for ... and we also know I don't have any of it nor will I ever have it.  My income is below the minimum amount to be called "poverty level."

I will speak to him about contacting our Congressman, but I believe things are being handled in the best way possible ... there is just so much red tape and we know how the IRS uses intimidation tactics.  It seems to have come down to playing the waiting game with them now.  Which one of us will blink first.  Well, I can't so it is not an issue of how much or when I will come up with the money ... the answer is never!

Of course, as you know, this the final week of an extremely busy time for tax people.  Jim (my POA) has never charged me a dime, nor will he let me suggest payment, and he does my work "off the clock" from his paying clients.  I can't ask him to do more than he is already and I know this will be resolved.  God knows when and how, but I don't, so I am just "possessing my soul in patience."

Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Hi Janie,

I do understand.

You are dealing with a tax attorney/accountant.

In my dealings the attorney and our accountant couldn't help or were so
swarmed that they delayed my case even more.

I went to IRS office and presented the problem who were to get back to
me  but of course that never happened --only delays with more interest
and penalties adding on.

Then I went to a tax advocate (they absolutely listen to you ) and they
saw the problem immediately and started to work it out.  When intimidation
letters came, call the number and report that you are working with tax advocate
-give their name and phone number--tell IRS to contact them direct)
and IRS has to stop immediately contacting you.

I hope this helps.

Keep the faith --remember HE sees the end results-  our Heavenly Father
can look beyond this mountain in front of you and sees the other side--

a glorious side waiting for you to give praise and honor to HIM for giving you
the relief that you need.

Take care and as always,
Love in CHrist,
Joyce

Jane Walker

Joyce ... I already have been through all the steps you just outlined. There are many offices and you reach a different one every time you call the 800 numbers.  Jim (POA) has been in direct contact, by phone and fax, with the IRS for over a year ... We have filed numerous forms and now have started over.

I mentioned to him about contacting our congressman ... he says they would probably only refer me to the IRS ... Everyone is totally backlogged at this time because of Tax Season, you know.

I found a list of "exemptions from garnishment" and have written to the State Dept of Revenue to challange the garnishment of my Social Security and Pension.  It is possible these funds will be returned to me.  From now on I will have all checks sent to my home address and pay all my bills with money orders or travellers checks as Jim says "until this is settled."

And, I know it will be settled ... it is just a very long drawn out process.  I originally posted a request for prayer for strength to endure this process.

Thank you -- everyone -- for your concern and advice.  I really appreciate all of it.  My Father is in charge of my finances as well as my life.  He has promised to supply all my needs -- sometimes I think I need more strength than I have at the time.

Jane, sorry to see that this goes on and on and now you have to fight with the State as well.

With regard to writing to your Congressman it is probably true that his/her office would refer your letter to the IRS.  However, having been on the Agency end in having to answer a lot of Congressional correspondence when I worked, I can tell you that agencies give priority to such referrals and, at least where I worked, we had very strict deadlines imposed to provide a response.  It certainly couldn't hurt anything to seek such assistance as that is one of the duries of the Congressman to respresent the interests of the constituents.

Judy McKenna

Jane:  I don't understand a lot of the terminology...yours is somewhat different than ours., but I know that dealing with government, you run into a lot of red tape.

A few years ago, we were audited.  Why they chose us, is beyond me.  It ended up costing us several hundred dollars more than we originally paid (in income tax, that is).  We have an accountant do our taxes now., as its just so difficult.

You're right, Nita.  I would love to have someone to talk with, who might offer some insight and spiritual help.  I have no one but Jesus and I am really leaning heavily upon Him at the moment.

Father, I pray for Jane.  Her problems seem so insurmountable to her and to us....but they are not to you.  We know that you know what is going on in Janes life...those money difficulties, those self-doubts, those feelings of being a failure.  We know that you love Jane and we know that you wrap your arms around her...but Father she needs to FEEL that....so I ask Father that you let her know in a special way that you know of her situation....something that only she would know had come from you.

Father I also ask you to relieve her anxiety and her fears....I ask that your Holy Spirit touch her this evening and that she get a good nights sleep...safe in your arms.

I ask all this in Jesus' name
I am a nobody
Telling everybody
There is a somebody
That can save anybody

Fast Eddie .... Thank you, so much, for your prayer .. I really appreciate Christian friends who will stand with me in prayer when my strength seems to wane ... God is in total control of my life and the outcome of this mess ... He knows the end from the beginning and I don't. I have only to trust Him.

Today I received a couple phone calls from the Oregon Department of Revenue ... end result is that they have reviewed my challange to the garnishment and will be refunding the money they took from my bank account.  I also found that I had double paid all my bills this month!  Being unfamiliar with "Bounce Guard" I went ahead and paid by cashiers check after the bank had covered the checks I originally wrote and were against insufficient funds -- or an empty account!  Today I went to the bank and took care of all the overdrafts and am now at a positive balance again.  Things are beginning to look up again.  Praise God!

Jane, that is great news.  You have your trust in the right place.  Now to hear something positive from the IRS.

Al Moak

One down, one to go.  Is it not evident, though, that God is at work?  As He has done with Oregon, so may He quickly do with the U.S.  Oh Father, I continue to look up into Your Face, to wait on You, and to pray Your mercy on my sister Jane.  And as I pray for her, I pray also that You will work mightily to make the IRS a more just and equitable agency and a kinder agency than it now is.  Oh Father, let us soon see Your powerful Hand dealing with them.

Jane Walker

I thank all of you for your prayers and, now, for rejoicing with me!  Thank you, AL, for your prayer.  Yes, this saga continues, but I am not troubled about it ... I know my Father is in charge of every detail.

Another step in "the process:"

I received a call today from the Oregon Dept. of Revenue with a couple questions and then the man said "I initiated this because we are looking into closing this account."  He will do a little more work and then let me know the result.

Praise God!!

This is one more step in the process of God continuing His work.  Next will be the IRS!!   :D

I just picked up the mail and opened the official letter from Oregon Dept. of Revenue:
"Based on the information you gave us, we have cancelled your accounts, and you have a zero balance."  Whew!!

Now the next step will be to hear the same thing from the IRS! ...
