Don: Hey Judy, It's been a long time. Hope you are doing well. 2024-12-02, 22:41:41

JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

They...mocked Him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews!
Matthew 27:29

It was 52 years ago  that Elizabeth was crowned Queen of England.

As thousands looked on, she received the four symbols of authority—the orb, the sceptre, the rod of mercy, and the royal ring. As the crown was placed on her brow, the crowds shouted, "God Save the Queen".

How different was the coronation of King Jesus at Calvary! No orb or sceptre, but a reed in mockery. No rod of mercy but the lash. No royal ring, but spikes driven through His hands. A crown of thorns pierced His brow as the angry mobs shouted, "Hail, King of the Jews"!

May we honour our King now, awaiting that Day when all will confess Him Lord!
—Brian Cretney

We know that Day will surely come,
when every knee shall bow,
but may we start to practice here
and start to do it now.
B. C.

Nice devotional, thanks Pat.  Hope you get a good rest tonight.

I have had  busy day.  8 A.M. appointment (20 min. drive) for a Cat Scan, then went for coffee, then shopping with Wendy.  Lots of physical discomfort today.  Tried to keep busy by taking Squeek outside on her leash, doing light housework, etc.  Finally gave up the fight and put heat on my back and had a nap.  One good thing about being retired....one can retire when tired ;)

Misty went and killed a wild baby rabbit that was down in the forest/park in the yard.  Not nice!!  I tell her every morning to not hurt the birds, squirrels or wild baby rabbits that wander onto the property.  Does she listen??  Not likely...can change from a gentle loving creature to a wild predator in the blink of an eye.  Can understand how  lions, tigers, etc. can never really be trusted as pets, even if raised in captivity.  Misty plays so nicely with a young cat from across the street.  His name is Billy Bob and they spend a lot of time chasing one another around the yard.  Never play rough....talk about a dual personality!

I am happy that Kristi is doing better and the medicine is working.  Can be such a worry for Mom & Dad when a baby has problems.

Sorry to hear about John's mother and will pray for him.  This must be a terrible loss and I hope that he has other family to help.  Will also continue to pray for you Beth.

I recently came across this "Five-Finger Prayer" to use as a guide when praying for others:

When you fold your hands, the thumb is nearest you. So begin by praying for those closest to you—your loved ones (Philippians 1:3-5).

The index finger is the pointer. Pray for those who teach—Bible teachers and preachers, and those who teach children (1 Thessalonians 5:25).

The next finger is the tallest. It reminds you to pray for those in authority over you—national and local leaders, and your supervisor at work (1 Timothy 2:1-2).

The fourth finger is usually the weakest. Pray for those who are in trouble or who are suffering (James 5:13-16).

Then comes your little finger. It reminds you of your smallness in relation to God's greatness. Ask Him to supply your needs (Philippians 4:6,19).

Our prayers ascend to heaven's throne
Regardless of the form we use;
Our Father always hears His own
Regardless of the words we choose. —D. De Haan

This is from a Daily Devotional that I read.

Time to call it a night and wish everyone pleasant dreams.
God Bless,

Liz

CHANGE NOT THY FAITH WITH CHANGING TIMES

karmat

Liz, I like that five finger prayer thing.  I will try to remember that!

Hope everyone has a wonderful day!!  We have a new monthly challenge -- Self Portraits.  BUT, there's a  catch.  Go check 'er out!!!

Good morning, friends,

It's a lovely cool morning here in Nashville. I've used that 5-finger prayer scheme, and it's a good one.

Pat, thank you for the devotional. Actually, the very first ever television show I saw was the coronation of the queen. My parents and I were invited to a neighbor's house - they had a television (a big cabinet with a very small screen inside it. The ceremonies were most impressive.

But, when I compare the earthly queen with my King in all his glory and splendor and majesty and power and might and love and compassion and ... well, you catch what I'm trying to say.  :)

Y'all have a good day.

Pat: Thank you for todays devotions.  Are you sleeping well nowadays?

Al : I live n Fort Collins close to the foothills that begin the Rocky Mountains - we can see snow tops.  The front range is from 5,500 ft. altitude  to 6,500 and it is considered high desert although there are still some farms and ranches around here.  I was raised mainly in Seattle so this is quite different and yes, I miss the different walks - but we can walk and get out so much of the year here - everyone is outdoors here.  I hope your legs are improving.

Janet:  Do you like the green tea?  What brand?  I like most of the Celestial Seasonings decaf - all those zinger flavors.

Larry:  Are you in Florida?  I just read yesterday's note & someone else noticed that as well.  No wonder it is raining.  It is overcast and raining here with another day of scattered storms.  The sky is awesome and we keep looking at it to check on the weather.

Liz:  Oh, back pain.  Don had some again yesterday and we put the heater vibrator pad behind his back while he was in the comfy chair - he also did the treadmill by going 30 min. in the morning & 30 later in the day to break up the exercise.  Daughter has been having back problems - she is a jogger - and now she is able to use something called inversion table & she said it helped her feel so much better but just used it one day.  I hope that you find relief soon. Thanks for the five finger prayer!

Ruth Ann:  You are in Nashville?  Somewhere in this house, we have a lovely book of Tennessee given to Don by folks he did some contract work with - he always mentioned a BBQ place and the very kind people who made it so easy.  He used to fly there weekly & everyone was so nice to him. Are you looking forward to retirement?

Ruth Ann Bice

Hi, Carol - just a quick post before heading to work. I'll be eligible for full retirement in January next year. However, with a VERY big need to do repairs on an addition that is closed right now, I'll need to work a couple more years if possible to be able to take care of the big costs associated with this.

Yes, I'm in Nashville - the people here are wonderful. It would be nice if Don could return and bring you with him! I work only 5 minutes from the airport and live about 15-20 minutes away, so we could meet at any restaurant for a meal.

Y'all have a good day today.

Good Morning. The Queen was crowned when I was 12 years old. I made a scrap book of the coronation. Idon't know what ever happwned to that scrap book, lost or destroyed somewhere in times past. I got to see it on TV too. That would have been in 1952.

Today I will be going grocery shopping for Fay and then to so something for myself, I will get my nails done. I am always so glad when Friday rolls around an I have Friday and Saturday afternoons off.

I got an email this morning informing me that  I am doing the church bulletin  on Sunday morning. Maybe I can get someone to give me a key to the church and go do it on SAturday afternoon. The draft is already done I just have to print it out, fold it and add the WM flyer to it.

Well you guessed it I am busy at church too. I am one of the greeters, the Adult Sunday school secretary, assistant to the WM president from time to time. On my way to prayer meeting on Sunday morning I  pick up another of the intercessors, then I leave 1/2 hour before Sunday school starts and pick up Versal, getting back in time to do the roll and offering for the Sunday school. Then at 10:15 I go into the sanctuary to greet the people and hand out the Bulletin, make sure everyone has a seat, run errands for whoever needs help during the service. I sit in back by the door during the entire service.

Well got  to go now to catch up on my email, fix my breakfast and get ready for work.

Good Morning Everyone!

Hope you're doing well today.  I slept in!

I had an email sent to me with this link:  How Big is your Cross?

I really like that "Five finger praying" reminder, Liz.  Thanks for that.  Sorry that the cat killed the little rabbit.  Guess it was doing what comes naturally but...  :'(

I guess I retire soon, Ruth Ann. ;D ;D

Thanks for asking Carol.  Sleep comes and goes.  Sometimes I need it during the day as I had a rough night or something but I'm sure I'm getting what I need.

Have a good day at work, Marilyn.

FARTHER ALONG
(Click to hear music)

W. B. Stevens

Tempted and tried we're oft made to wonder
Why it should be thus all the day long.
While there are others living about us,
Never molested though in the wrong.
Farther along we'll know all about it,
Farther along we'll understand why;
Cheer up, my brother, live in the sunshine,
We'll understand it all by and by.

When death has come and taken our loved ones,
It leaves our home so lonely and drear;
Then do we wonder why others prosper,
Living so wicked year after year.
Farther along we'll know all about it,
Farther along we'll understand why;
Cheer up, my brother, live in the sunshine,
We'll understand it all by and by.

Faithful till death said our loving Master.
A few more days to labor and wait;
Toils of the road will then seem as nothing
As we sweep through the beautiful gate.
Farther along we'll know all about it,
Farther along we'll understand why;
Cheer up, my brother, live in the sunshine,
We'll understand it all by and by.

When we see Jesus coming in glory,
When He comes from His home in the sky;
Then we shall meet Him in that bright mansion
We'll understand it all by and by.
Farther along we'll know all about it,
Farther along we'll understand why;
Cheer up, my brother, live in the sunshine,
We'll understand it all by and by.

Janet

Just a quick note to let you know I'm still in the land of the living!  I have much to do today!

Carol, yes, I do enjoy green tea.  This is some we bought in Thailand--a great big bag of it!  I put some in the pot, add boiling water and steep, then fish out the uncurled leaves with a fork.  The leaves are quite large after steeping.  The tea is a pale green color when first steeped, then turns to a pretty dark orange after it sets a while.  I make a whole pot and drink it hot, first cup, then warm, then room temperature---I like it any way.  I like the Celestial Seasonings teas, too, but the caffein in tea doesn't seem to affect me like the caffein in coffee does.  Anyway, I can drink tea in the evening and still sleep.

Pat, hope you get rested up soon.

Liz, hope you are feeling better.

I have to run, be back after I go run my errands, visit a friend in the hospital, etc.

Janet, your tea sounds great!  Do you add any sweetener?

Yes, Janet, you can send me a cup or two of your tea anytime!

Thanks.  Yes, I've been through Fort Collins.  It is high desert, though not nearly as dry as, say, Arizona, NM, S. Cal. an d so on.  When I went through I was hurrying right along, so I didn't get to really see it very much.  Colorado is kind of on the way from California to almost everywhere east, so it makes a stopover place.

Think I'll go have some green tea right now.  The best I've had is from Taiwan, although a local herb store has some that's very, very good also.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  We are still having a cloudy day but little rain and they said there was a chance we would see the sun but I don't know where it is.  Ruth Ann, wish we could share some of the rain with you as we have had a lot in the last few days and more predicted.

Karmat and Carol, I haven't the slightest idea why I wrote Florida rather than Georgia in my posting yesterday other than I have been working on the laptop computer to send to Pat's aunt in Florida and it must have been on my mind.  I do live and am in Georgia, about 30 miles east of Atlanta.  I live not very far from Stone Mountain, Georgia.

I spent most of the morning working on my church website.  I think I now have it up-to-date, at least reflecting all the information I have available.

It looks like I will not be hearing from the heart transplant center this week, perhaps next week.  I will check with the coordinator next week as she will be back from vacation.

Tbear, glad to see that your daughter got a good report and will be able to attend her camp.

Marilyn, you certainly wear a lot of hats in your church.

It is good to see everyone posting.

Ruth Ann Bice

Well, I left work early today with a big headache and badly upset tummy. Things will be much better tomorrow. :-\

Shew, I was going to type, "Glad to see it's not me who is crazy." but then I realized I had clicked "modify" instead of quote, and about changed your entire post for you Larry!!!!  I know where Stone Mountain is.  Not htat far from us, really.  Maybe this summer, if you feel up to it, we could meet somewhere.

Janet

Larry, thanks for clearing that up--I noticed that you put Florida, too, and wondered if I were going bonkers!

Busy day, not much accomplished, though.  :(

I still haven't decided what to paint next week, so gotta go looking through some photos and stuff.

I am running a low grade fever today. Lastnight I was so cold I thought I would have to get up and put the elecrtic blanket back on the bed. I just could not get warm so I fially got up about 1:30 am and put on my long underwear under my pj's and since I couldn't sleep I took 2 Tylenol pm's. Finally got some sleep. I made the mistake of eating Watermelon at supper time and it keep me getting up about every 45 minutes until 1:30. So I was very drug out this morning. I did go to Tai Chi but I sure didn't feel very good. I am still coughing and blowing after 2 weeks.

Hi all u all

Enjoyed the song and devotion, Pat
As Paul said: Maranatha "Jesus is coming"

Hey you guys let Larry think he lives in Florida.  I know what he meant to say, he can see Florida from Stone Mountain.   ;D

Marilyn you not only wear a lot of hats in your Church you keep a lot of balls in the air at the same time.

I took your advice and called Dell Computer and talked to a female technician that I could not undrstand.  After a while she ask to put me on hold and I listened to some strange music for a few minutes then the music stopped and I was disconnected.  You know what, for two days now that message does not appear when I log onto the computer.
That female had some magic.   ;D ;D

Now I will not get into the green tea bit.  Reminded me of the old joke the British tell on Americans.
"The Americans heat their tea to make it hot, put ice in it to make it cold, put sugar in it to make it sweet and put lemon in it to make it sour."

BTW  I lost my first message because my log time had run out.  So I will post this one as I know you all are waiting to read it.  ha ha

Dell support is in the Philipians. I have reached some that I could not understand too but they have all been more than helpful.

Boots, you forgot they say "here's to you" and drink it themselves!  ;D

Marilyn, I had to laugh about Dell support being in the Phillipians!  ;D ;D ;D  I'm sure you mean the Phillipines!  Thanks for the chuckle, I needed one today.

I am bushed, so going to lock up early again tonight.  I hope no one gets bonked on the head!  :-\
