Janet: Hello, Friends!  Let's get this going again!  I miss  hearing from all of you! 2025-01-23, 19:26:16

Don: Hey Judy, It's been a long time. Hope you are doing well. 2024-12-02, 22:41:41

JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Oldiesmann: So sorry for your loss Carol. Praying for you and your family :( 2022-05-01, 17:13:05

Carol: My husband Don is with the angels.....Our family was able to hold  ourselves together for the last moments.  Juar rhoufhr you might want to know. 2022-04-29, 23:35:15

WON'T POWER

A certain man was on a diet to lose weight. He even changed routes to work in order to avoid a particular bakery, which displayed scrumptious looking pastries in its window. But one day he arrived at the office carrying a beautiful, large coffee cake. His colleagues teased him about slipping off the diet.

In reply, he smiled and said, "Today I accidentally drove by the bakery and looked in the window and saw a host of goodies. Now, I felt it was no accident, so I prayed, `Lord, if you want me to have one of these delicious coffee cakes, let me find a parking space in front of the bakery.' And sure enough, the eighth time around the block, there it was!"

Sometimes "will power" is simply "won't power." It's about finding the inner power to say, "I won't continue in this behavior or attitude."

Self-discipline is an essential part of building a whole and healthy life. Do you need to say, "I won't" to something that is holding you back today?

We had a wonderful time at hte lake.  It rained a little on the way there, then was cloudy/sunny/cloudy/sunny/cloudy, then absolutely wonderfully gorgeous!!

I'm exhausted.  Tuesday (today) is Kristi's two month well-baby visit, so maybe we can get something figgered out.
:(

OH Karma, I certainly pray you get some answers.

Any word Marilyn on your housing application?  How is your ankle doing?

Just home from work, and now will sit quietly and read with a light snack before bed.

Larry Hanna

Good morning everyone.  It is another beautiful day in Georgia.  We managed to get through all of yesterday without rain and may again today.  Pat is seeing the chiropractor this morning and then we are going to a luncheon at the local Senior Center.  This group meets once a month and we haven't attended for the last 6 months or so.  I think our new friends are also going to attend for the first time.  It is a good way to meet people of our own age here in our community.

Yesterday afternoon after resting I finally got us feeling awake again so hope that episode is over for awhile.

Not much else on my schedule today.  Sure I will think of something to keep me busy.

Ruth Ann, glad you didn't lose your photos.  Glad you could get your truck fixed in one day.  I sure understand about the cost.

Marilyn, it was nice of you to act as the hostess on Sunday for the missionary.  I am sure that must have been an interesting luncheon.

Janet, it can be very frustrating just waiting and waiting for a doctor.  At least they told you he had been called to the hospital.

Karmat, glad you had such a lovely day yesterday.  Hope the well baby appointment goes well today.

Janet, thanks for the devotional.

It is about time to go to the cafe for morning coffee.

Carol

Karmat:  I wish you the best in the search for what ails little Kristi.  Her name is spelled the same as our very brilliant DIL - who is sweet & caring as well.  Sometimes the unknown is so frustrating - peace for you and Nards/

Larry:  It sounds like you had a little bug and your body just told you to rest. The last permanent I ever had was about ten years ago - we drove to Laramie, Wyoming the day after my perm and the winds were clocked at nearly 100 mph - need I tell you more?  I looked like an alien and had everything cut very very short upon returning home.

Today, I sent a birthday card to an aunt who will be 90.  My mother would have been 85 this year and died at the very young age of 75 - all in her family live long lives but it didn't happen for us.  I can never complain because Don lost his mother when she was 49 and he was 19 years old - his father died the same day at age 52.  Life can be much too short sometimes.

Carol

Marilyn

Sue: Nothing new on that application it can take up to two years before anything happens.
The ankle is all better now, once in awhile there is still a twinge of pain.

The fire department is having small room fires all this week in the remaining little houses on the property behind me, on Saturday they are going to burn them to the ground. If I am home I will take photos

Marilyn - don't let 'em set fire to the wrong ones!  So glad, Larry, that you're feeling some better.  I hope it continues.  Well, gotta go now - we've got a number of things to do today, including an appointment with the physical therapist at 1.

In honor of Flag Day today in the USA..........

Unfurling the Facts

DID YOU KNOW?
General George Washington's first battle flag carried the British Union Jack in its upper left corner. American Revolutionaries combined the Union Jack with 13 red and white stripes to demonstrate that while loyal to England, they were also committed to justice for the 13 colonies.

BETSY WHO?
Most historians now discredit the legend that Philadelphia seamstress Betsy Ross produced the first American flag in 1776. It is a fact that the pre-Union Pennsylvania government asked Betsy to sew flags for its navy—but others whose names are now forgotten were also asked to do so.

GRAND OLD BIRTHDAY.
On June 14, 1777, the new Continental Congress resolved "that the flag of the United States be made of thirteen stripes, alternate red and white; that the Union be thirteen stars, white in a blue field, representing a new constellation."

INDIVISIBLE.
During the Civil War, Lincoln's advisers, reflecting the view of many northerners, wanted him to order the removal of the 11 stars representing the rebellious states. Lincoln replied that his mission as President was to preserve the Union at all costs. How could he allow the stars of the Confederate states to be stricken from the flag when so much blood was being spilled to keep them?

FOR ALL.
The Pledge of Allegiance was first published in The Youth's Companion children's magazine in 1892 as part of a national public school celebration. Written by Francis Bellamy, it has gone through several revisions over the years, including the addition of the phrase "one nation under God," which President Eisenhower signed into law on Flag Day 1954.

Good morning!  Since I don't stay busy enough, I now have a job!   ;D  As soon as we return from the reunion trip, I will be going to my friends' house I told you about the other day, to cook, clean, etc.  I think two hours a day will cover it, may not need that long.  They called last night, I went by this morning, and they have decided that they want me to do this.  I'm really happy, because I want to be a blessing to them.  Maxine was feeling a lot better today, which made me happy, too.  My new frifend Pat will fill in for me when we go on trips, etc., so it should work out really well.

Lots to do today, getting the trailer cleaned and stocked for our little trip.  There is space under the bed (it lifts up on hinges) where we can stash the Scuba tanks and gear.  I'm looking forward to diving, it's been 18 months since our last trip to Roatan.

Gotta run!  See you later!

Nice devotional, thanks Janet.

Cool morning on the island.  Went into town to the dr. yest. and it had about four seasons in one morning.  Seems more settle today.  Dr. report not great....severe damage to disks due to the Arthritisis and Chronic....Pain from it and Osteoporosis constant and she didn't offer much hope along the road.  Think I need to find another doctor...she now wants me to try another med. for osteoporosis that is similar to Fosamax and my tummy is inflamed from Reflux and that medication barely touches the problem.  Afraid to swallow one more pill as things are really unpleasant.  Desperately need to see a Specialist...don't think she will send me to see him again.  Has a real attitude, that lady!!  They lost my medical chart and it either was misplaced when I moved or in the wrong file.  Like working in the dark with her....sort of feel like Alice at the Mad Hatter's Tea Party :-\
Living on Presc. Codeine and Ativan is not my idea of a life....

Karmat, will pray that things go better for little Kristi.  Lots of prayers going to God for her and things will get better.

Interesting info. Janet.  I think we Canadians know more about American History than most realize.  Have always found it fascinating and many books read over the years.  Sort of necessary as had many American friends when young...

Think I feel sort of depressed this morning.  Never a good way to start a day.  So will think about this little prayer:

God, give me sympathy and common sense,
And help me home with courage high.
God, give me calm and confidence
And please – a twinkle in my eye."

Going to go and have a shower, sketch something or other and fool around with watercolor pencils and a tape I got from the library.  Lots of bright colors....thats what is needed!

Pleasant day all and God Bless.

Liz

Larry ~ So sad to hear how tired you are...that all you want to do is lie down.  You deserve a rest but prayerfully this, too, shall pass.  I do think the recorder for the CD's is the one that equilizes everything.  People are telling me that the tapes are better also.  The recorder records the tapes and the CD's.  But then we also have a new duper for the tapes...4 tapes @ 4:15 minutes.  The CD duper will do 7 CDs @ 2:30 minutes.  But you can't recylce the CD's so we will make some and then take requests for the rest.  It is a fun ministry...great to meet and talk to so many people.

Ruth ~ I love the "I am a Christian" poem.  So true...so true.

TeresaDawn ~ "God Is" is awesome.  So true.  It is all in the Bible so it IS true.

Chris & Margit Saunders ~
QuoteGod was saying to
Abraham, "You may have some other idea about the design and
purpose for your life, but you are wrong! You were created in My
image to worship Me and to glorify Me. If you do not honor this
purpose, your life will degenerate into shallow, selfish,
humanistic pursuits.
I have Abram in me.  Do all of you?  Yes!

Suzanne ~ Your clickable is funny.  God knows all that stuff but this clip makes you think your Pizza place knows, too.

Janet ~ I am finding that I have longer 'to do' lists now...no one to help me either but it is so rewarding when I get them done on my own.  Also my social calender is wonderful.  Seems that I am more outgoing and I 'want' to be with others.  Makes my heart smile to be with people.

Marilyn ~ Good to see you posting.  I really miss your great posts.  So full of inspiration.  When I grow up....

Ruth Ann Bice ~ I can just hear how elated you were to find your pictures from England.  If you want to post any and need help, just send them to me and I will upload them to my ISP site and you can post them with the URLs.  Sorry about your truck and its surgery but more sorry about the dented budget.  Hope your surgery today goes well.

Janet ~ Thanks for the devotion today.  I hope I don't have too many 'Won't powers'.

Karma ~ I am praying that Kristi's doctor finds the answer to Kristi's problem.  Hopefully it is what she is or isn't drinking or eating.  That would be a great solution!  Glad you had a wonderful time at the lake.

Carol ~ Longevity is in my Mother's family but she passed away at age 85.  Her Mother was 101 and some brothers and sisters were in their late 90's.  I would love to live to 115 as long as my mental capabilities are intact.

Marilyn ~ It must be sad for you to watch everything around you being razed down and knowing you will be leaving there soon also.

Al ~ Hope the PT does good for you today.  I haven't had to use one yet but I hear they are great.

Al & Marilyn ~ You better quit meeting like that....:)

Janet ~ Will you be diving at your reunion?  Sounds like fun.  And a job??  Hope you find time to do it!!  Haha!

Liz ~ Sorry about the news from your doctor.  Perhaps you do need another opinion.  Ask God...He will give you the answer.  How do you like these bright colors?

I mowed the yard yesterday between night storms.  Rain Sunday night and last night.  I sprayed weed killer in my rock landscaping.  Crab grass will grow anywhere, I think.  I noticed my brother, Kaye Don, was mowing the lane to the woods and I was going to mow going back and forth after I got done with the yard.  Reason being...I needed to go to the woods to see what needed to be done before our Small Groups Weiner Roast next Monday evening.  So I came in the house to cool off and to get a couple of cans of pop.  I went back to the woods but Kaye Don wasn't there.  So I drank mine.  But before I got out of the woods, Kaye Don came back.  We enjoyed a nice chat.  When we got back to the houses, he told me how to grease the Craftsman and I did it.  Another deed learned.

Later, we all went to eat at a little place in Lapel.  So much fun to be with family.

Tonight is our outing to 'Beef and Boards'.  Ivalou, Marge, Betty and I are to see 'You're a Good Man Charlie Brown'.  I can't imagine people doing this instead of cartoons.  But I am sure it will be great.[/b]

Etta Sue when you are alone you learn how to do all kinds of things for yourself that a man used to do for you. I have done my own mechanic work but I am not into getting all greasey and under a car anymore. I am aslo trying to get my son to do the weed eating, I do it but it would nice to have some help now and then.

Liz - that's the kind of weather I've come to expect up there on the island - at least that's what we've seen when we've been up there.  Sure would like to come up to Victoria again.  We really like it there.  I put on my best Bristol accent and get along just fine!  That Provincial Museum is certainly one of the best.  And high tea at the Empress is a treat indeed.
Sorry to hear about your osteo problems - those are so painful, and they don't go away.  It would be wonderful to have a bit of a vacation from them for a while!  May our God grant you grace.

Sue

Not much to say.  Just had a bought of hail and thunder.  I am thinking of heading out the concert in the park, but not sure if the weather will hold out.

Hi Everyone!

I've had a very busy day with company and also I trimmed my hedge and then went and did some errands and then the storm came and I had to shut down the computer.  I've heard that a tornado touched down in Fergus which is only about 12 miles north of Guelph.  I was sure we were going to have one but it's all calm and peaceful now and wet outside.

So that's been my day!

We have new folks to welcome!  That's great!

Kyle, it's great to see you here.

Now my phone is ringing so I better post this so it doesn't get lost.

Hello all!  Welcome Kyle and Rich.

Update on the baby -- the doctor prescribed another medicine and told me to give her 1/2 of a child's enema.  So my mom and I did.  We had results in about 45 seconds.  Boy, did we have results.  I am hoping the prescription will help keep everything moving.  Even the doctor is beginning to get a bit concerned now (finally!).

I hope ya'lls day went well and tomorrow is awesome.

I ahve a huge stack of stuff I have to get done tonight (procrastination will catch up with you), so I had better get crackin!

Boy, I am dragging tonight.  I worked hard all day, but the trailer is all shiny and clean!

Liz, I'm so sorry you are feeling bad.  Pain can get a person down, I think, quicker than a lot of other things.  I admire your attitude and determination not to let it get you down.  ((hugs))

There have been two horrible car wrecks within just a few miles of us in a three day period.  On Saturday, a truck was stopped on the highway just a half-mile south of us; and a lady and three children stopped behind it; then a pickup came flying up, hit the car; knocked it completely underneath the truck, cutting off the top and mangling the entire car.  The mother's neck was broken and she was life-watched to Wichita; the two older children were killed (first grader and second grader) and the baby was treated and released.  This little girl was from Hugoton and was one of Abby's little friends.  I haven't heard about the driver of the pickup as yet.

Then today, a few miles farther south; there was a head-on collision between a car and a pickup, both traveling at a high rate of speed.  Three people from Ulysses (I haven't heard yet who) were in one vehicle; two were life-watched to Wichita; and two young boys from Hugoton were in the other.  These boys were about freshmen in High School.  One goes to Bethel Friends where we used to attend, and we know the parents.  One of the boys was in Mark's Scout troop; he was killed, and the other boy was airlifted to Wichita in critical condition.   One of Diane's employees' mother in law is an EMT who worked the accident, and she said it was the worst she had ever seen--mangled bodies and compound fractures.  I pray there are not any more such accidents!  It just gives me such a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach.  Those poor people!

Sorry to post such bad news.  I hope to have happier things to talk about tomorrow.

Karma, you posted while I was composing.  I'm glad you got results---poor little Kristi probably feels SOO relieved! :-\  Bless her sweet heart.  I pray thing continue to "move right along."  (((hugs)))

Karmat, glad to hear that the doctor had something to suggest.  Sure the little one must not have been very comfortable.

Liz, so sorry to read of your serious pain problems.  It does sound like you need to see another doctor but guess that isn't necessarily easy for you to accomplish.  It is easy to understand why you would be a bit depressed with constant pain.

Ruth Ann, glad to see you posting and know your dental surgery is completed.  Hope you are not having a lot of pain.

Welcome to Kyle and Rich.

Janet, it is very kind of you to want to help the couple with some housework.  Maybe your new friend and you can work out a sharing arrangement if it becomes too much for you to handle by yourself.  Where are you going on your trip?

We had a very nice luncheon today with a good turnout and a delicious meal.  We played bingo for an activity, but just for about 4 games.  The folks seemed to enjoy it.

Carol, did you get a picture of that hairdo in the strong wind.  You painted an interesting word picture with your description. :)

Etta Sue, I agree with you on the joy of being with other people.  The older I get the more I enjoy being with others.  Think that is why I enjoy the daily coffee hour I have every morning.  It sounds like you had a great evening planned this evening.

Marilyn, I hope your son will find time to help you with some of the manual work in your yard.  I sometimes feel bad when my son comes over as I often have several things I need help with.  Fortunately he always seems happy to help us out.  We try not to overdo it.

Time to say goodnight.

Pat

Well, I made my neighbour tea and we had a nice visit.  That's who was at the door after the phone rang when I was posting last!  LOL

I'm so happy to see Kyle and Rich on here.

We'll be back a little later to lock this topic up and open tomorrow's.
