JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

NOT-SO-GRIM REAPER

Cyrus McCormick, who invented the reaper and founded the company that became International Harvester, was a generous
contributor to Chicago's Presbyterian Theological School. Because of that fact, the school later changed its name to McCormick Theological Seminary. Faculty and students have quipped that death is never referred to as "The Grim Reaper" at McCormick, but always as "The International Harvester."

"Grim" is not a word which describes the experience of many people who find themselves nearing life's end. Like Dr. Abraham Maslow commented after a heart attack which made him realize that his own death was not far away: "Death, and its ever-present possibility makes love, passionate love, more possible. I wonder if we could love passionately, if ecstasy would be possible at all, if we knew we'dnever die."

Likewise, psychiatrist Irvin Yalom, who worked with terminally ill cancer patients, reported that "grimness" was far from their attitudes about passing on. In Dr. Chris Thurman's book, THE TRUTHS WE MUST BELIEVE (Thomas Nelson Publishers, 1991), Yalom tells us that once his patients accepted the fact that their lives were rapidly drawing to an end, positive and exciting changes occurred:

  *     They felt a sense of freedom to do what they wanted to do.

  *     They lived in, and enjoyed, the present.

  *     They learned to vividly appreciate the world around them.

  *     They joyously anticipated holidays.

  *     They communicated deeper with loved ones.

  *     They feared less and risked more.

Because these people knew they were dying, they figured out how to live! Nothing grim here. They came alive in ways never before possible.

Oh, maybe you don't want to volunteer to leave this life today, but we'll each set off on that journey soon enough. And it promises to be an exciting adventure. But in the meantime, what if you set out to live every moment as if your short days here were truly numbered? When "The International Harvester" someday reaps your life, may it have been joyful, fearless and well-lived.

Oh boy... I just got bumped by Janet's post.  I'll try and remember what I said.

First of all, I thanked everyone for the Canada Day wishes.

One thing I DID want to say though, was.... how much I USED to be a proud Canadian., but not anymore.  Our government is to "thank" for that....ever since they have okayed gay marriage.

How this MUST really grieve the Heart of God!

Marilyn - I need your email address.  My notes to you have been returned.

Love to all.,

The Mousetrap

A mouse looked through the crack in the wall to see
the farmer and his wife open a package.

"What food might this contain?" He was devastated to
discover it was a mousetrap.

Retreating to the farmyard, the mouse proclaimed the
warning. "There is a mousetrap in the house! There is
a mousetrap in the house!"

The chicken clucked and scratched, raised her head
and said, "Mr. Mouse, I can tell this is a grave
concern to you, but it is of no consequence to me. I
cannot be bothered by it."

The mouse turned to the pig and told him, "There is a
mousetrap in the house."

The pig sympathized, but said, "I am so very sorry,
Mr. Mouse, but there is nothing I can do about it but
pray. Be assured you are in my prayers."

The mouse turned to the cow. She said, "Wow, Mr.
Mouse. I'm sorry for you, but it's no skin off my
nose."

So, the mouse returned to the house, head down and
dejected, to face the farmer's mousetrap alone.

That very night a sound was heard throughout the
house -- like the sound of a mousetrap catching its
prey.

The farmer's wife rushed to see what was caught. In
the darkness, she did not see it was a venomous snake
whose tail the trap had caught.

The snake bit the farmer's wife. The farmer rushed
her to the hospital, and she returned home with a
fever. Everyone knows you treat a fever with fresh
chicken
soup, so the farmer took his hatchet to the farmyard
for the soup's main ingredient.

But his wife's sickness continued, so friends and
neighbors came to sit with her around the clock. To
feed them, the farmer butchered the pig.

The farmer's wife did not get well; she died. So many
people came for her funeral, the farmer had the cow
slaughtered to provide enough meat for all of them.

So, the next time you hear someone is facing a
problem and think it doesn't concern you, remember --
when one of us is threatened, we are all at risk.

In the book of Genesis, Cain said this about Able,
his brother, to our God: "Am I my brother's keeper?"

We are all involved in this journey called life. We
must keep an eye out for one another and make an
extra effort to encourage one another.

THE CONDITIONS OF DISCIPLESHIP

If any man come to Me, and hate not ... he cannot be My
     disciple.

     Luke 14:26,27,33

If the closest relationships of life clash with the claims of Jesus
Christ, He says it must be instant obedience to Himself. Discipleship
means personal, passionate devotion to a Person, Our Lord Jesus
Christ. There is a difference between devotion to a Person and
devotion to principles or to a cause. Our Lord never proclaimed a
cause; He proclaimed personal devotion to Himself. To be a disciple
is to be a devoted love-slave of the Lord Jesus. Many of us who call
ourselves Christians are not devoted to Jesus Christ.

No man on earthhas this passionate love to the Lord Jesus unless the Holy Ghost has
imparted it to him. We may admire Him, we may respect Him and
reverence Him, but we cannot love Him. The only Lover of the Lord
Jesus is the Holy Ghost, and He sheds abroad the very love of God in
our hearts. Whenever the Holy Ghost sees a chance of glorifying
Jesus, He will take your heart, your nerves, your whole personality,
and simply make you blaze and glow with devotion to Jesus Christ.

The Christian life is stamped by 'moral spontaneous originality,'
consequently the disciple is open to the same charge that Jesus
Christ was, viz., that of inconsistency. But Jesus Christ was always
consistent to God, and the Christian must be consistent to the life
of the Son of God in him, not consistent to hard and fast creeds. Men
pour them selves into creeds, and God has to blast them out of their
prejudices before they can become devoted to Jesus Christ

Suzanne, I really enjoyed that!  How true, our lives are intertwined, and the loss of one diminishes us all.

Slow today, but it usually is on Saturdays.  I got my vacuuming done, laundry going, and need to decide what food to fix for our church picnic tomorrow evening.

I hope you get rested up, Sarah, and that your knee heals soon.  You need to take better care of yourself, girl!

Oh, Judy, I'm sorry I made you lose your post!  I forgot to check to see who else was on NEM at the time.  ((hugs))

We are putting in a dance floor for chandraya in my studio.  We are just about ready to lay the vct down.  Can't wait to get it all done.

I am going to see batman begins today with Zachery if he isn't selling lemonaide with his friend.  He wishes he could get a job but to young, have to be 16 now to work.  Kind of dumb if you ask me.  They get so bored with daily life when not doing school.

Have a wonderful day, everyone!

Jane ~ I don't like surprises on the road either so I decided to be half surprised and only purchased two new tires instead on four.  I was surprised.  No surprise with the two old tires!!!  I made an appointment to get mine greased and oil changed Wednesday.  We will see what they say.

Pat ~ Yes, a lovely text for a lovely photo.  Great job, Grandmom.  Geordie looks great in his birthday suit!

Gord Brown ~ Great to see you found your way back and posting.  Sounds like you are having some changes in the near future.  I will pray for medical assistance for your wife's back.  He is the Great Physician.

TeresaDawn ~ Great to see you posting again.  Missed your sparkly signature.

Jen ~ Yes, baby skin is so sensitive.  Do I see a picture of Mercy yet?

Al ~ I finally figured out you have to be logged in the Gallery to leave a comment.  I am learning.

Judy Mc ~ I agree.  Gay marriages...NO!!  But...remember the law can be turned back if enough speak up!

Sarah ~ Take care of that knee.  Is it due to standing at work?  Or a previous injury?

Suzanne ~ A story of helping others in need.

Marilyn ~ Great devotional.

Janet ~ Slow?  Sounds like a pretty busy Saturday to me.

Soni ~ The dance floor and the lemonade sounds good to me!  Wish I were there see and taste both.

I am taking Ivalou and a friend named Lois to an 80th birthday celebration in Versailles, IN.  That is about a 100 miles away.  It has been a long time since being in Versailles so it will be nice.  Bright and sunny....a great day to be on the road.  Be back this evening.

Last evening was wonderful.  We teased Betty.  Her birthday is today and we teased her by telling her all those 6,000 people were there to celebrate HER birthday.  6,000 people.  Can you imagine that many people with lawn chairs, blankets, picnic baskets and bug spray.  But I didn't get bit once so it was effective.  The music was great and the fireworks fabulous!

Good Mornig: Thank you Janet for the devotional today. Very apropos for the world we live in today   things we really need to think about.

Suzanne I enjoyed the one you sent in the email this morning as well as the one posted here. IMHO We really need to look out for one another and pay heed when another is looking out for us.

I have been  getting some housework done here before I go to Fay's so that I will have the rest of the afternoon free. The Women's Ministries have a Fireworks booth set up in the parking lot at the church, and I need to go help out some, give those who have been working it a break to go home and eat or watever they need to do.

I installed new Windsheild wipers on my car yesterday and checked the oil. It is time for the maintenence, So I will have to put some $$$ aside to do that this payday.

Sarah take care of that Knee you only have 2 ya know.

Etta sue you were posting the same time as me. Good morning to you, have fun on your outing to Versailles.

Soni wow Chandraya is going to have her very own dance floor, lucky little girl.

Good afternoon everybody, glad to be back in England after a few weeks in Malta, weather was getting a little to hot for me 33 c. Glad to be home and was greeted with a little rain.
Lots of work to catch up on in the garden. Nice to be back with you all.

I will take pictures, Etta Sue. :) 6,000 people, wow, that's one big party!

Marilyn Yup, if she is going to be a dancer, I better start working on getting her set up so she can practice her turns and leaps. Psst..I also will use it. hehehe..

Have fun in the garden, Vec2.

karmat

Etta, what bug spray did you use??  I haven't found anything effective for me yet.  Most of the time, I seem to get bit worse with it on.

The story about the mouse trap was interesting.  I was reading and thinking, "where is this going?"  A point well made.

Bernard and Travis just left to go play a round of golf. :)  So, Kristiana and I are just "hangin' out."  Actually, I'm hanging out, she's taking a nap!

No drought this year.  It has rained, a least some, everyday, I think for like 3 weeks.  It is usually really pretty of a morning, then starts clouding up around 10 and starts raining just after lunch.  It's really humid, but not terribly hot, most of the times.  The evenings have been really cool.

Marilyn, thanks for posting that.  Oswald Chambers has always made me really think about stuff.  I need to dig out one of my copies of "My Utmost' and start reading again.

How big is the dance floor, Soni?  That is awesoem that ya'll are able to do things like to encourage you kids' interest.

Back later.  Have an awesome Saturday!!!

A Belated Happy Canada Day to everyone.

An early Happy Forth of July to our American friends.

I had an enjoyable day yesterday, which turned out to be far too long.  The 2 younger girls were going to family camp with friends and we "negotiated" the route to take.  For the folks in Ontario we took highway 60 then county road 58, this was right through Algonquin Park.  It was a beautiful ride.  The two of us (Melaura and I) came home, after dinner in Pembrook, along Highway 17.  Not too much to see, but more direct.  I wound up stopping in Mattawa to sleep for an hour though, that was enough to get home safer.

On the way to camp we sang some typical Canadian songs complete with actions, at the top of our lungs.  That was fine till we were in the tiny town of Killaloe, The residents there will not soon forget the crazy van that went through town!

I have a lot to do today so better get at it.

Love always
Judy

I have arrived at Pat's Tim Horton's with my cup of coffee.

When my coffee is done and visiting complete I will be headed out for groceries and some of the Canadian Tire specials.

As I sit here I can hear a Robin chirping and as the saying goes he is calling for rain. We are enjoying a break from the humidity as well and that is good.

Karma, the dance floor is 14x20.
Does travis and bernard golf a lot?  I thought about getting my boys into something like that.  I have never played.

Soni, what on earth is vct?  I know a lot of different flooring materials, but that has me stumped.  Lucky Chandraya!  (and lucky Mom, too.)

Etta Sue, your evening sounds lovely, and with no bug bites, even better!  I only got one bite while at family reunion, and Abby got one chigger bite.  Hate those little buggers! >:(

Etta Sue, I meant it was slow here on CP (has picked up since then, though.)  Not at my house.  I have been going through this place like a white tornado!  Really got a lot of stuff done that I tend to put off.  I wish I could say I was all caught up, but IS there any such thing, with housework?

JudyB. glad you had a fun time with the kids!  We always used to sing in the car a lot, too.  I found I can't sing as long or as loud as I once did, on the trip with Abby!  :)

Have you heard the good news that the little 8 year old girl who had been missing for weeks and weeks in Idaho has been found?  The guy took her into a Denny's for a meal at 2:00 AM and the waitress recognized her and called the cops.  Last I heard, her 9 year old brother has not yet been found, but the girl said he was okay and was "in the house." Just now, they say he is presumed dead.  Of course, the creep that had her is a convicted child predator.  Why in the world do they ever let those guys out of prison???   auggggh!

Hi Karma!  Enjoy your slow time with little Kristi!

OH! I have a brand-new little great niece!  She was born June 30, weighed 6 lb. 6 oz, 19 inches long, with a full head of really dark hair! (Both parents are blonde.)  Her name is:  Willow Chloe Jean Allen.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  I am having a very laid back and reasonably quiet day.  After lunch I took a little nap while the baseball game was on (it still is underway and the Braves are losing badly this afternoon to Philadelphia).  I did some computer maintenance and Pat needed a few items from the store.

I must tell you all of my very interesting experience this morning.  I went to pick up my friend to take him to coffee and as I drove up I saw him standing at the end of his driveway speaking to this older lady.  I stopped and they both headed over to my car so I rolled down the wiindow.  After introductions she asked me if I was a Christian and I said I was.  She then asked if we could have prayer together for healing for my friend and for ourselves.  We held hands and she prayed right in the middle of the street.  Her husband had been a Baptist minister for 60 years and she had been a missionary.  She had just moved into the area where my friend lives and is a very lovely lady.

Sonja, the new dance floor sounds very nice.  You and your husband are very supportive of what your children are interested in.

Karma, your husband is introducing Travis to golf at an early age.  I was always terrible at golf and haven't played in over 40 years.

Etta Sue, sounds like you have a very nice evening.  My friend, who has the big gardens, says he puts one of the fabric softener sheets in his hat when he goes out to work in his garden and the bugs leave him alone.  I haven't tried it as am never outside very long but that would be more enjoyable than spraying the bug spray.

Janet, that was good news about the little girl that was found.  I agree with you on the child molesters.  We have a convicted child molester that lives in our development.  Our state law requires these names be published and I think they now will be putting up the pictures as well as names and addresses.

Janet, the devotional has particular meaning to me today.  Actually we all should live with this knowledge because we never know when our last day will occur.

Sarah, I do hope you are leaving sometime in your busy life to take time for yourself.  I hope your knee gets to feeling better soon.

Marilyn, I remember one year many years ago, when my daughter was a young teenager, a youth group had a fireworks tent and sold them as a money raising project.  It was really a lot of work and a very warm job.  Georgia has made a change in their fireworks laws and are now allowing more fireworks to be sold so I am not looking forward to the upcoming few days.  Our cat really hates all the noise.

vec2, Gord, Mercychild, and Thersa Dawn, good to see posting.

JudyB, that sounds like quite a long trip you had making the trip to and fro from the camp.

Ruth, are you now on summer vacation?  Will you be driving a school bus again next year?  In our county they are having a hard time getting school bus drivers.  We have about 120,000 students in our public school in this county.

karmat

Because of the conversation about bugs and stuff, there are all kinds of interesting links at the top for bug remedies.  May have to take a look!

Larry, yes, Travis loves golf!!  He's pretty good at it.  He can drive consistently 50 -55 yards and is learning the rules and etiquette.  Today, there was a par 3 that from Travis's tee was 74 yards.  He hit his driver, hit a tree and still landed within a few feet from the green :0  He also sank a 8 or 9 foot putt today, and was pretty proud of that.  I've got some shots of him swinging, I'll try to get them uploaded.

So, Travis went down for a nap, and Kristi woke up from hers.  She'll be hungry in a minute!

I looked a a small single wide mobile last evening. Very small. It is in a nice location though in the forest on a hill, a secluded area althought there are several homes in the area. It has a very good yard for the dogs, bigger than this one and hardly no grass to bother with.

There is a nice  spot that gets the sun all day for a flower small flower garden. Th elady told me that they have seen a young bear around taking their fruit from the tress. There are plums, and apple trees intheir orchard. Huckleberries  behind the little trailer and down the road lots of blackberries.

I really like the area. If this it the one God wants me to have then I will have it. They haven't made a decision on the place yet.

Ruth Ann Bice

Hi, friends,

I'm sorry I've been absent. No energy left after working all week - particularly on Thursday I worked 10 straight hours on a difficult problem. Finally it was resolved, but stress like that wears me down.

I'm going to rest the remainder of the afternoon. But wanted to let y'all know I love each of you and am glad to see you here.

Ruth Ann

Larry:    Yes I am finished for the summer a very welcome rest from the daily routine and yes I expect to be returning in September but the time of my calling it a day is getting closer.     At my company and I do feel that it is all companies it is hard to get and keep drivers, when a better paying job comes along they are gone, this used to be a classed as a position for the moms at home but what I am presently seeing is a position for the retired men that  expect to have there retirement income supplemented thus  less homemakers.

In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.  Proverbs 3:6

Al Moak

Ruth Ann - glad to see you are able to work like that, considering the problem you had with your foot.  How is that foot now?

Karma - I'm NEVER going back to golf!  I tried it once many, many years ago as a young man.  I found I could drive the ball very well and fairly accurately, but then, having once gotten onto the green or near it, it took me forever to get it into the cup.  So I gave it up.  Then, about 20 years ago, a friend tried and tried to talk me into trying it again.  So I did.  Same result.  I thought to myself, what I need is a bigger ball, so I went to bowling, and that's where I've been since.

Marilyn - as I mentioned to you, I've got a friend who lives just off Pidgeon Point Road, but only about a half mile up from Old Eureka Road (lots of names for that road - Samoa Blvd., Old Arcata Road, Myrtle Ave., etc.).  It's a very nice area and very quiet.  I hope they don't have any Mt. Lions, like they do near here!

Ruth Ann Bice

Well, after logging out this afternoon realized I was too tired to stay up - went to bed and rested. Awakened with both legs and feet swollen and painful. So, it most likely will be a very quiet day today. I had a day like that Tuesday. I'll find out on Thursday if they are going to put a pin in it or keep it in a cast.

Meantime, I've learned to do pretty well with crutches.

Ruth Ann
...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Janet

(((((hugs))))) To Ruth Ann!  I'm so glad you were able to rest today.  Keep those legs and feet elevated as much as you can!  We need you around here!

Larry, how wonderful to meet a Christian who isn't afraid or ashamed to pray in the middle of the street!  Sometimes when someone asks me to pray for them, and I do it RIGHT THEN, they act shocked.  But if you need prayer, no time is better than the present, right?

Karma, sounds as if you have a little "Tiger Woods" in the making!  ;) ;D  Bet Travis is so cute swinging his golf clubs.

Marilyn, that place sounds really nice, and you don't need a lot of room for just you, do you?  I know it's nice to have extra room, but if everything else is right, you can probably compact down some.  We sure did when we moved form the big house over here.

I'm trying to listen to "Faith Under Fire" and getting really aggravated at a muslim guy who is putting down my saviour.  >:( GRRRR.

I am about used up tonight, worked hard all day, but was glad to feel like doing it again!  See you all tomorrow.

Well, I've been in my garden most of the day.  I had thought I was going to my uncle's funeral but that's on Tues.  I had made a mistake.  I was also invited to a Pot Luck Supper and told them I couldn't attend due to the funeral!

Anyway, got the lawn cut, some things planted, and just generally huhg out int he garden and tried to catch up.

Hello everyone,

it's a late start for me, 10:40 pm.  We went out today and just got home a little while ago.  We took my mother-in-law to see the Royal Botanical Gardens, such a lovely spot!

Etta Sue - I haven't posted any photos of Mercy yet because I don't know how.  Am I allowed to post links to other websites here?  We do have our own website where anyone is free to view them.  I'll check with Pat and try to let you know.

Pat - is that alright with you?  It has our wedding photos and baby photos on there.

I'd also like to request prayer.  I have an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon on Wednesday.  I have a severed ligament and some torn and broken cartilege in my knee, and I have to get surgery on it.  It's really been acting up lately, and makes it really difficult to care for Mercy.  Thanks so much.  You are all a blessing.  God bless you.

Jen.

Pat

Nice to see you Jen.  We must get together.  Little Mercy is going to be fully grown before I get to see her!  ::)

Anyway, had a bit of a fright tonight.  The man two doors away I think must have been doing a bit too much drinking and he was snooping around my house!  Geordie chased him home!

So, now I have everything locked up tight and have been having a great time in our Gallery here seeing all the new photos and now I'm going to bed.
