JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional

THROUGH A WRINGER

When I was a little boy we used to have an old fashioned wringer washing machine. This was an early type of washing machine in which you had to hand feed the freshly washed clothes through a pair of moving rolling pins to squeeze the extra water out before drying. I often wondered how those clothes felt going through them. This curiosity was painfully ended one day when I was helping my Mom feed the clothes into them and got my own fingers caught instead.  Needless to say, I was far more careful after that.

Usually after we finished washing the clothes my Mom would hang them out on the clothes line to dry. I would hand her the wooden clothes pins as she hung them and help her fold the freshly dried clothes a few hours later. I can still remember how wonderful they smelled after warming in God's sunshine all afternoon. I would hold them up to my face and delight in their warmth, cleanness, and Heavenly scent.

I know that sometimes it can feel as if life is putting us all though a wringer washer. The troubles and stresses of life always seem to want to squeeze and flatten every bit of peace and happiness out of us. Sometimes our whole day feels like my fingers did that time when I was a careless young boy. It is up to us, however, to not let ourselves stay flattened like an old, wet pair of pants. It is up to us to pick ourselves up and warm our hearts and souls again in the sunshine of God's love. It is up to us to choose the Heavenly scent of love and joy moment by moment to refresh our lives and to share with the world.

I hope then that no matter how flattened you get by life at times you can still rise up to choose more joy and love. I hope that no matter how many times you are put through a wringer you can still come out stronger, better, and closer to God.

~Joseph J. Mazzella

This really spoke to me, because I felt as though I'd been through the wringer myself last week!  And I'm sure all of you have times like that.  I know I didn't include Scriptures today, but we all have our Bibles and can look up some to go with it, right?

I hope all of you have a wonderful Tuesday.  Mine must necessarily be a very busy one, have to enter things in our Fair!

Blessings,
Janet

hey again its me melaura moms comp wont let her log out grrr

i agreee that it is up to the parent but letz face it most of us at least once have rebelled in our pasts and i do think that banning them without something taking that place will cause more teenz and kidz to rebell. I think in sted of banning them right off the bat maybe in certain familiez we can compermize? Like i know alot of my cloths my mom dosent like and i like them so we compermized and i feel that it is the best thing ever. Mom has given me other books i am enjoying reading and i feel it is taking the place of harry potter but in some wayz i wish i could read and or watch the books and or movies with my fam jam. but if you are going to ban the books and or movies you have to relize that there is no magical pixy dust that can cure the mystery of whats going to happen next in the next boof ior i wonder if harmonie will live and soo one. i hope you all have a good night. Love in Him

Hey y-all As you have seen I am not coming on the CP as much as before. I am trying to keep busy with other things such as looking for a house on the internet and making phone calls. I still do a little PSP every day too.

Friday night the grands are coming to spend the night, Gilbert has told me he doesn't want me to take them to the Youth meeting on friday so I think we will just have church at home. Versal gave me a real nice Bible story book  and I will read to them out of that and the I will ask them to say the prayer of salvation with me. Then I will have peace of mind about them being saved.

I talked with Savannah this evening and we have decided that the dogs will just have to sleep on the floor and the three of us will sleep in the bed, sothe kids won't have to sleep on the floor in sleeping bags. They will bring their bicycles too. There is no place for them to ride them at home so they don't get used much. I am also going to take them over to play withthe Pastors kids.

Thats all for  today

I'm just popping in to tell you about my nice mowed grass. :) :)

After I posted that I couldn't do it, I smilingly said aloud, "Lord, this is OUR grass, and OUR house.  If you don't mind tall grass I don't either."

As some know my grandson lives with me.  His parents pay child support, so I haven't asked him to do things like mowing the lawn.  He takes garbage out, little things.  Today I had the thought:  I give him spending money anyway....so why don't I ask him about jobs and him earning it instead.  He said certainly and got right on it. :)  He mowed, and while he was doing that, my son showed up and started using the weed eater too.    Soon they were all done. :)   God is GOOD and my kids are good.

Speaking of Harry Potter (it just goes on and on, doesn't it? lol) my 18 year old grandson has read all the books.  He started when they first came out, is an avid reader anyway, and just told me he sure wanted to get the new one.  I asked him, "Does it really teach you about witchcraft, or do you think of it as fantasy?"  He said it was just fantasy and adventure.  I said, "Good...because God tells us to stay away from witchcraft, and He wouldn't do that if it wasn't real."  I wanted to give him something to think about.  He isn't a Christian, but knows his gram prays for him.

Marilyn, have fun with your grands. :)

Janet, your devotional is really true.  It helps us to know that we will come out, huh?  Yes, we can certainly look up Scriptures for ourselves.  Hope you have a peaceful rest this night.

Buenos Dias: Great devotional Janet. Nita it is good that your son and grandson helped you with the yard. Getting my son here to help is always a chore, he is so busy all the time.

Its Great to be alive for another day here on this earth. God has given me eyes that can see, ears that hear, feet and legs to take me where he wants to send me, hand and arms to reach out and be His hands extended. He has given me armour to protect me, and angels to surround me. He has given me a roof over my hear, food to eat and a nice comfortable bed to sleep in. He has given me a job that I love, a great church family and two wonderful companions Bebe and Happy. He has given me the JOY OF THE LORD and the Joy of the Lord is my strength.  God is an Awesome God. Amen?

The fog is thick this morning, as it will be all summer long here ont he coast. Lifting later in the day. They construction crew was laying sewer pipes yesterday, things are moving along very slowly here.

I pray everyone has a very blessed day.

Hi everyone.  Just back from coffee and going to the fresh produce stand that my friend has.  Today is the last day he will have the delicious sweet corn for this year so got a dozen ears and just now finished shuck and desilking it.  He also had beautiful tomotoes and peppers this morning so got some of them as well as we were out of those items.

Our calendar is clear today so will just work on some computer problems and take things easy.

Nita, glad to hear that your grandson and son helped you get your yard back into good shape.  Maybe now your grandson will take the lead to keep it mowed as needed the rest of the season.

Janet, that is a good devotional.  I well remember my mother and grandmother having the old wringer type washing machines and having to heat water in the house and take it out to where the machine was located in our smokehouse.  How modern applicances have lessened the load of such things as doing the laundry.

Marilyn, it sounds like you have to walk a fine line with your grandchildren and the matter of religion.  I am sure you demonstrate your faith when they are in your presence as often actions speak louder than words.  Hope you have a wonderful overnight with them.

Melaura, you exhibit your respect by not trying to read the books that your mother doesn't want you to be reading.  I admire you for obeying her wishes in the matter as you know she has your best interests in mind with her decision.

Guess I had better get on with some of the things I want to do today.  Hope everyone has a nice day and it isn't as hot up in Canada as it has been.  We are to have several days in the low 90s with high humidity.

Well friends I just got a telephone call about 30 minutes ago from the last couple that we showed the house to they were the ones that had the 2 small children and it was a young family ... well his sister - in - law was calling to tell me that " He is very intrested " so please ladies when you get the chance today or sometime today please pray 4 this SALE to happen for us ! I'll do my best to update if anything comes of it today as we are 2 meet w/ them this afternoon so please pray !  Gotta go but I will return !!

Janet

Hello, friends!  I'm just popping in to greet you and see who has posted today.  I went for my workout, and Kristi never ceases to amaze me with her knowledge.  She gave me a whole new routine today that would not hurt my injured arm, but still maintain range of motion and strength in it.  I really thiank God for her; she is a jewel.

Melaura, I don't think it was ever mentioned on here that the Harry Potter books should be banned!  And all of us who are "experienced" moms, grandmas, dads and grandpas KNOW that forbidding a kid to do something is a sure road to their rebelling just to prove they  CAN do it.  We are only discussing whether or not those books teach or encourage witchcraft or other "black magic" arts.  Sorry you misunderstood.

I hope you all have a great day.  Jen, it was so nice of you to host the party for your elderly neighbor and I'm sure she appreciates it too.

I must get busy or I will never get my fair entries out there in time.

Thank you Larry and Janet for your comments to Melaura.  She has really been showing respect for our wishes in so many ways,  She is learning negotiation skills where there is any dissagreement on issues.  I am really carefully "picking my fights."  Her heart is tender and that is the important thing.

I have a doctors appointmant for 2:40 this afternoon, and have more mending to do before then.

Have a good day folks.

We have an auto in the shop for some unidentified work - so will have to see what happens.

Pat:  All that nitrogen from the storms, it really does make the grass and everything greener.  Cheaper than fertilizer but not fun at times.

Larry:  Downloading books for Pat from your library - how neat.  I haven't heard of it here.  Can't wait.

Janet:  You really have been through the wringer- things must get better!

Marilyn:  Sure wish you had just the right place to move to. I am praying for you.

Now to move on and get my little jobs finished.

Father, I pray for Janie.  I pray You'll move the hearts of the people in the church to hire her.  I also pray, Father, that You'll grant her husband something good and something local.

The words of this hymn to me are so important for Christians and I thought it might do us all well to read them.  I hope you can also hear the music.  I just love this hymn.  I used to sing it a lot but only sing now by myself at the piano..   ;)  Hope you enjoy it as much as I love it.

Not what these hands have done
(Click to hear music)

Not what these hands have done
Can save this guilty soul;
Not what this toiling flesh has borne
Can make my spirit whole.

Chorus:
Thy work alone, my Saviour,
Can ease this weight of sin;
Thy blood alone, O Lamb of God,
Can give me peace within.

Not what I feel or do
Can give me peace with God;
Nor all my prayers, or sighs, or tears
Can bear my awful load.

Thy love to me, O God,
Not mine, O Lord, to Thee,
Can rid me of this dark unrest,
And set my spirit free.

No other work save Thine,
No meaner blood will do,
No strength, save that which is Divine,
Can bear me safely through.

I praise the God of grace,
I trust His love and might;
He calls me His, I call Him mine,
My God, My joy, my light.

Hello Everyone,

It's been a busy day making appointments.  I have my first midwife appointment on Aug. 9.  I have surgery scheduled for my knee on September 1st.  I haven't booked it yet but I also need a root canal.  Boy, when it rains it pours, doesn't it?  Mercy has a tooth almost through.  She's been pretty cranky, but she is still sleeping through the night, thank the Lord.  I've been rather tired myself.  Well, I'm going to try to settle that little girl down,s he's growling herself to sleep.  God bless you all.

Jen.

Hi Jen...  Great to hear from you and definitely we'll get together really soon.

Larry ~ I got an El Cheapo HP printer.  I already have a fairly new scanner so just needed the printer.  My greeting for Ivalou is much better looking.

Whew!  I am tired.  Ivalou called last evening to ask if I would go with her this morning while she got a blood test at the doctor...so I could be in the waiting room with her two granddaughters.  I did.  Then we ate breakfast out.  When we got back to Ivalou's, she called her daughter in Dayton, Ohio, to see when she was coming for the girls or if we were to take the girls to Richmond, IN, halfway to meet Jo, the daughter.  Something is wrong with Jo's van before she can drive it very far so I drove and we left at 11:30  a.m. for Dayton.  We ran into road construction near Richmond so I took off the interstate to get on US 40.  I needed to go south and east so we finally got out in the country and found a US highway that went into Dayton.  I got a route on my GPS for Jo's house.  We zigzagged through Dayton and got to Jo's with no problems.

We talked to Jo for awhile.  We went upstairs to see Kara's parakeets, Toby and Girlybird.  We went outside to Lydia's dog, Charlie.  Edie was there and Erik came home before we left.  So we got to see all the kids.  The traffic was so terrible we dead stopped on the ramp getting onto I-75!!!  I got off at the next exit and zigzagged through the country to get to I-70.  When we got to where the construction was that morning, the eastbound traffic was backed up for over 5 miles.  Glad I went the back way to Dayton.  Ivalou would have never made it.  She knows one way to Jo's house and one way back!!!  What normally would take 2½ hours took us 3¼ hours to get to Dayton.  Then almost that long getting back home.

We ate in Pendleton and came on home.  I parked my car in Ivalou's drive and came home to clean up and change clothes to go to the funeral home for a visiting.  We saw people we hadn't seen since high school graduation.  Lots of memories.

Now I am doing some laundry.  So it has been a long day but a great day.

Tomorrow, I hope to mow and then go to the Dinner/play with Ivalou and two neighbors.  It will be late when I do the NEM for Thursday, but I will do that when I get home.

Today  I was unlatching my seat belt and got my fingernail caught in the latch and ripped off my nail below the  quick, I was bleeding when I got to Fay's house and put a bandaid on it. It sure hurts. I don't think I am going to let my manicurist touch that finger.

Happy is shedding and I have been brushing him every day. I amthinking of getting one of those Ionic Pet Brushes like I've seen on TV.

Well Good Night all
