JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he was come from God, and went to God.
John 13:3

Here was one glorious benefit of the Saviour's omniscience.

At the end of the sufferings and the cross He was to return to God. There would be joy and light after the pain and night—and the Father's presence is always "fulness of joy" (Ps. 16:11).

Whether in this life or the life to come, the same experience would be afforded to His disciples.

Let us look up today and know that through Him we will be victorious in the end.
—Brian Russell

Thou art coming: blessed Saviour,
nothing else seems worth a thought;
O how marvellous the glory,
and the bliss Thy pain hath bought.

Dear Mrs. Scott,

As I write to you today, more than 500 people have already lost their lives in the heavy flooding that hit Mumbai (Bombay), India, this week ... and the death toll is rising.

This is where five million people, some of the poorest of the poor, live in slum areas in little makeshift huts with dirt floors. For many, what little possessions they had for their daily survival are now destroyed, swept away in the waters. Twelve of our churches were also destroyed, and our Bible college was damaged. To read more about this difficult situation, click here: http://www.gfa.org/pray072805

My dear friend, my heart breaks for these precious people for whom Jesus died, who are cherished in His sight.

Please join us in prayer for no more lives to be lost, and that many will find hope in Jesus through these hardships. Pray as well for our missionaries in the area as they reach out in practical ways with the love of Christ.

Thank you for your prayers. I know the Lord will use them in the lives of countless men, women and children living in the slums of Mumbai.

Yours on behalf of the unreached,

I just got home a little while ago from the scrapbooking class.  It was fun, and we got several borders with coordinating journaling boxes made.  If I go to another one, I will know more about what materials and tools to take along.

Pat, I'm so sorry about your water damage.  That is so frustrating, to buy something new and find it to be defective.  Curtis told me he bought one of those at a garage sale for $5.00, and the only thing wrong was one of the handles was broken off.  He said he thought he would take the room temp. one off and replace the broken one.

I'm really tired since I didn't get much sleep last night, so I'm headed for my pillow!  G'night all.

Pat, I went to the webpage you linked.  I always find things like this so sad.  Sometimes all I can do is just come to God and cry.  Just cry.  I have so much,  not much money, but certainly running water, a dry, warm home.......food in the electric refigerator.  I can't imagine how it would be to daily wonder if your children would eat, and now this.

Good morning, Everyone!

Etta Sue..the bathroom is in the laundry room downstairs.  It was plumbed in a few  years ago..we are finally getting to it.

The bathroom can be a bit of a pain. I agree, Larry! hehehe..  I sure love having the third shower, sink and toilet with all my kids.

Janet, Troy is swimming at the rec center this summer and plans to start up with the highschool in December again.  I will be waiting for that email.  ;D

Well, better head to bed.

Larry Hanna

H. everyone.  Just back from the morning coffee at the local senior center.

I have Fox News on and they are covering the attempted arrest of what the British police believe to be one of the bombers.  Worldwide television is really something.  This is really a tense situation and very dangerous for the police.

Pat, that is certainly a sad situation in India.  I have been reading about the unbelievable amounts of rain in India the last few days.  In one area they had 37 inches in a 24 hour period.  I can't even comprehend that much rain in such a short time.  It is a very difficult situation over there.

Sonja, thanks for the information in response to my inquiry.  I am sure the third bathroom will be very welcome in your household.

Janet, I hope you were able to sleep last night.  You need your rest to carry the load you currently are carrying.  Glad you enjoyed your scrapbooking class.  They are having regular classes at the big senior center here and have for a long time.  I guess it is something that would appeal more to women than men.

In about an hour we will leave for the hospital.  I expect we will be home around 3 to 4 pm.  Hopefully Pat will be up and about again tomorrow after the medicine wears off.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Marilyn

Good Morning: Thank you for the devotional Pat and the letter from GFA. I cannot even imagine that much rain in such a short time.

Yesterday the construction crew dug a ditch acroos the front of my little yard between me and the street, leaving just enough of the driveway for me to get in and out. They filled it part way with gravel, I don't know if it is going to be a sidewalk or another pipeline going in.

I have contacted a Property Management office to set up an appointment to look at another place in Eureka as soon as the current tenants move out. It probably won't be until next week sometime.

I'm also waiting for my mechanic to return from wherever he went to service my car and check the brakes to see what needs to be done there. I took the car into a tire shop and they told me I needed both front and rear brakes at a price I know I can't afford. My mechanic say he can do them  at  a much lower price. He works for  one of the local dealerships and has his own garage on the side, where he works evenings and weekends.

I am working this afternoon at Versal's since I need to make up for not being there yesterday. I have her laundry all done and in the trunk of my car.

Must get busy now Good Morning to everyone that includes Everyone.

G'mornin' y'all.  It's (as usual) quite foggy here this AM.  It burned off just as I thought it would yesterday, at about 2-3PM, then came back in again about 6:30.  Probably the same today.  But that's 'cause we're near the ocean, and it's worth it!  I hope that time at the hospital isn't too wearing for you, Larry - it sounds like a long stint for you.  I pray our Father to bless it to Pat to do her all the good it possibly can.
Pat - may our God use this disaster in India in ways that glorify Him and bring some to faith.
Well, got editing work to do today, so better get with it.

Janet

Good morning!  I am feeling lots better this morning because I got a good night's sleep last night, and thank God for that.

Beth is back in the wheelchair today.   :(  Seems she makes one step forward and two back at times.

I want to watch tis program that just started on TBN, so see you later!  ;D

Ohhhh Pat!

I am so sorry about the water damage.  I wish at times like this that I was at 305.  I know there is nothing I can do up here.

Does Andrew know?  Can he or Terena help?

Is there any way that the company you got it from pay for the damage to walls and ceiling?

I will be back.

Nita

It's still morning here, so I'll say Good Morning.  Another beautiful day in the neighborhood.

Heh, Al.  It's around 11 AM now, and I see beautiful clear sky and sunshine.  It was overcast earlier, but now it's gone and won't be back till late afternoon or early evening.   Had to rub it in a bit.  You know how us Oregonians can be. haha
I remember days as you've described, but just now this year.

Jane, I'm headed to look at your pictures again. :)

I have to mow some more today, so will get that started before the wind comes.   Later.

Pat

I just got this sent to me from Lee Kirkwood.  I thought I'd share it with you all:

I grew up with practical parents. A mother, God love her, who washed aluminum foil after she cooked in it, then reused it. She   was the original recycle queen, before they had a Name for it... A father who was happier getting old shoes fixed than buying new ones.

Their marriage was good, their dreams focused. Their best friends lived barely a wave away. I can see them now, Dad in trousers, tee shirt and a hat and Mom in a house dress, lawn mower in one hand, and dish-towel in the other. It was the time for fixing things. A curtain rod, the kitchen radio, screen door, the oven door, the hem in a dress Things we keep.

It was a way of life, and sometimes it made me crazy. All that re-fixing, eating, renewing, I wanted just once to be wasteful. Waste meant affluence. Throwing things away meant you knew there'd always be more.

But then my mother died, and on that clear summer's night, in the warmth of the hospital room, I was struck with the pain of learning that sometimes there isn't any more.

Sometimes, what we care about most gets all used up and goes away...never to return. So... while we have it... it's best we love it.... and care for it... and fix it when it's broken...... and heal it when it's sick.

This is true. for marriage..... and old cars.... and children with bad report cards..... and dogs with bad hips.... and aging parents..... and grandparents. We keep them because they are worth it, because we are worth it. Some things we keep. Like a best friend that moved away or a classmate we grew up with.

There are just some things that make life important, like people we know who are special..... and so, we keep them close!

TEN THINGS GOD WON'T ASK ON THAT DAY.

  • 1.  God won't ask what kind of car you drove. He'll ask how many people you drove who didn't have transportation.

  • 2.  God won't ask the square footage of your house, He'll ask how many people you welcomed into your home.

  • 3.  God won't ask about the clothes you had in your closet, He'll ask how many you helped to clothe.

  • 4.  God won't ask what your highest salary was. He'll ask if you compromised your character to obtain it.

  • 5.  God won't ask what your job title was. He'll ask if you performed your job to the best of our ability.

  • 6.  God won't ask how many friends you had. He'll ask how many people to whom you were a friend.

  • 7.  God won't ask in what neighborhood you lived,  He'll ask how you treated your neighbors.

  • 8.  God won't ask about the color of your skin, He'll ask about the content of your character.

  • 9.   God won't ask why it took you so long to seek Salvation.  He'll lovingly take you to your mansion in heaven, and not to the gates of Hell.

  • 10.  God  won't have to ask  how many  people you forwarded this to, He already knows your decision.

Kitty and I had a great time.  First was a tour of her home.  Both of her in-laws passed away withing the past two years and Kitty and Bob decided to buy his brother's half and move into their home.  I have no idea how many square feet this home is but it is huge.  I would say it is at least 75 feet from the master bedroom to the kitchen and the utility and another bath is beyond that.  And it is probably 40-45 feet wide.  Three huge bedrooms, huge living room, huge entryway, huge dining room, huge kitchen and dinette with at least 50feet of counterspace, huge den, huge utility room and 4 bathrooms upstairs.  Then a smaller basement but a family family room with fireplace and a bar, a work room for Kitty's projects and another full bath down there.  Then across the back of the house is brick pavers to form a patio at least 15 feet wide clear across the length of the house.  There are 3 French doors to enter the house from the patio.  There is a drive from the road to the 3-car garage plus a half circle drive to a columned front porch.  I have always dreamed of seeing the inside of this house and now I have.  Kitty still says she has to pinch herself to believe this is their house now.  They have lived there a little over a year.  When we went into the Master bedroom, she said, 'I have to show you this closet.  It is larger than either bathroom at my old house.'  And when she showed me the Master bath, I saw the vanity with a sink and a make-up area and a door that was closed.  She said, 'I don't show this to everyone but look.'  She opened the door and there was the commode and a BIDET!  Also a jacuzzi tub.  She said she is embarrassed to say they have a bidet.  Well, it is the first bidet I have ever seen, too!

So we sat outside and I cut plastic loops from plastic bags and Kitty looped them together.  Then at dark, another lady came...Jayne lives just a ¼ mile from me.  We went in the house and Kitty served us pop, chips and cookies.  A wonderful evening.

But when I got home and went to bed, I couldn't shut off my mind...I was awake until 3 a.m.  So I am hoping to sleep good tonight.

Pat, what a tragedy!  Sure hope you get compensated for your water damage and that your things of Jack's are salvagable!!

Larry, I have been praying for Pat.  Hope everything is fine with her.

Little Kristi ~  Prayers have been prayed for you, little one.  God has to fix your little problem or give the physicians the knowledge to do so soon.  What a worry to your parents!  And you aren't even able to tell your parents or the physicians how you feel.  God Bless You, Little One!!

Just a quick note to say the procedure is over and all is fine.  We were at the hospital about 4 hours.  Pat rested for a little while when we got home and just got up saying she hadn't been able to sleep.  She should be up and about tomorrow.  She will see the doctor in about 10 days and will get the results of the tissue samples they took.  However, the doctor indicated she didn't feel there was any problem from what she had seen.  That was good news but a final assurance will be very welcome.

We are having a much cooler day today.  It has been cloudy and when we came home 90 minutes ago it was just 78 degrees.  This is a much welcomed relief from the heat of the last several days.

Al Moak

Well, my real birthday isn't 'til tuesday, but I (ate) my birthday present today!  Marbeth and I went to the Oriental Buffet, which I definitely consider to be the finest buffet-style restaurant anywhere near.  For $14 we had the very highest quality Chinese cuisine available.  And quantity? All we wanted.  More than we needed!  Wow!

Also finished my editing.  I edit a quarterly journal for a friend, and, by the time I get it it's always in a hurry.  Anyway, it's done.  I've also finished rewriting the church constitution and bylaws, which haven't been touched in 20 years and were extremely outmoded.  My rewritten version may not be the one actually adapted, but it's a start anyway.  I just pray it'll help.  I was able to eliminate about a fourth of it and streamlined the rest.  Hopefully, now, it'll be at least readable.

Liz

Hi from a slightly cooler island!  We have had very hot weather lately and glad for a cooler day.
I have had a bad headache for a few days, due to arthritis in my neck getting bad again.  Finally seems to be stopping and life is chugging along once more.  Not able to do much when that happens as it makes me feel quite ill.  So now back on the computer for a little bit.....

Hope that Kristi is improving and will remember her in my prayers.
Sorry about your mini flood, Pat.  Water can certainly make a mess of one's ceiling, etc.  Hope that it will not need re-painting.  Also, that your other things were not badly damaged :-\

I am going to post a few little photo's soon...here and in Photo Cafe.  Must go and see the one's in here and catch up.  Not been doing anything very interesting so this will be a short post.  Did go to the mall for a few groceries...BC peaches are on for .98c per lb.  Yumm!  Also new corn is now available.  So bought some and ate some ;D

Plan to paint a picture of that Homestead Pat posted awhile ago and I saved.....Have been doing a little drawing when my head wasn't hurting too much.  Read a neat poem that some of you may enjoy:

When Earth's last picture is painted and the tubes are twisted and dried,
When the oldest colours have faded, and the youngest critic has died,
We shall rest, and, faith, we shall need it -- lie down for an aeon or two,
Till the Master of All Good Workmen shall put us to work anew!

And those that were good shall be happy: they shall sit in a golden chair;
They shall splash at a ten-league canvas with brushes of comets' hair;
They shall find real saints to draw from -- Magdalene, Peter, and Paul;
They shall work for an age at a sitting and never be tired at all!

And only the Master shall praise us, and only the Master shall blame;
And no one shall work for money, and no one shall work for fame,
But each for the joy of the working, and each, in his separate star,
Shall draw the Thing as he sees It for the God of Things as They Are!

by Rudyard Kipling

Nice that you are home again Jane.  Will go and check out those pictures.
So pleasant reading Papa John's posts again.  Glad he has returned to the site.

Time to go.  Pleasant evening all and God Bless.

Liz

CHANGE NOT THY FAITH WITH CHANGING TIMES

Sue

Liz, I must study and remember this poem.  I watched the Gaither music hour this evening, and that is the closing that Gloria Gaither cited.  I found it very moving to listen to it, and now to re-read it, has left me awed!

Pat, how is the drying out coming?  Is there much damage?

Janet, so sorry to hear that Beth is not doing so well today.  I know how stressed my mother was when caring for her mother, and can only offer you the same hugs and prayers I offered her.

Marilyn, I pray that this new showing of a house will be the one for you and your family.

Etta Sue, sounds like it was a great house to visit, but not one I think I'd want to own....just think of the effort that cleaning it would take.....UGH!

Larry, I pray Pat gets over her surgery and gains mobility again quickly!

Al, if I don't get in here, Have a great day on Tuesday!

I have another job interview on Monday morning.  Perhaps this is the job meant for me.

Time to go look at the photos in the gallery and then log off for the night as I have to be at the store for a short shift first thing in the morning.

We enjoyed a nice dinner of hamburgers, beans, chips, salads and HOMEMADE ICE CREAM ( :P) provided by the Grant Mennonite Church at the Senior Center this evening, followed by listening to their youth group singing.  Very nice evening.

Now it's time to lock up the store and open a brand new coffee shop for the morning! CLICK HERE
