JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

In the end,
worship can never be a performance,
something you're pretending
or putting on.
It's got to be an overflow of your heart.....
Worship is about getting personal with God,
drawing close to God.

Morning Devotional...

Matthew 2:1-12  NLT

1Jesus was born in the town of Bethlehem in Judea, during the reign of King Herod. About that time some wise men from eastern lands arrived in Jerusalem, asking, 2"Where is the newborn king of the Jews? We have seen his star as it arose, and we have come to worship him."

3Herod was deeply disturbed by their question, as was all of Jerusalem. 4He called a meeting of the leading priests and teachers of religious law. "Where did the prophets say the Messiah would be born?" he asked them.

5"In Bethlehem," they said, "for this is what the prophet wrote:

        6
        `O Bethlehem of Judah,
you are not just a lowly village in Judah,
for a ruler will come from you
who will be the shepherd for my people Israel.' "

7Then Herod sent a private message to the wise men, asking them to come see him. At this meeting he learned the exact time when they first saw the star. 8Then he told them, "Go to Bethlehem and search carefully for the child. And when you find him, come back and tell me so that I can go and worship him, too!"

9After this interview the wise men went their way. Once again the star appeared to them, guiding them to Bethlehem. It went ahead of them and stopped over the place where the child was. 10When they saw the star, they were filled with joy! 11They entered the house where the child and his mother, Mary, were, and they fell down before him and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasure chests and gave him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. 12But when it was time to leave, they went home another way, because God had warned them in a dream not to return to Herod.
What gifts have you ever given Christ?

The astrologers traveled thousands of miles to see the King of the Jews.  When they finally found him, they responded with joy, worship and gifts.

How different from the approach people often take today.  We expect God to come looking for us, to explain himself, prove who he is , and give us gifts.  But those who are wise still seek and worship Jesus today, not for what they can get, but for who he is.

Not much to write about except that I had three ladies here this evening.  We decided 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice dates to see the shows at the Dinner Theater next year so one of the ladies can mail it back tomorrow.  Early birds get their first choices.  I had pie and iced tea for them and then we watched a Hawaii video.  The four of us want to go to Hawaii next March.

A wonderful soft rain here.

Nita:  We lived in Eugene for one long winter and it did rain every day and that is when we took a vacation to Minnesota to visit relatives and stopped off in Denver so Don could interview as he did not take to the constant rain.  Long story - we drove through Eugene and did not find our rental house or practically anything we recognized.  So many changes.

Marilyn:  Yes, one of the resumes must be the right one for you.

Etta Sue:  Thank you for devotions.

Thanks to all of you who work so diligently on CP.

August 18th I will move off to college which is about 4 hours from here.... not too far not too close..... My last day of work is August 17th and it isn't comming soon enough... TOO much drama and work and it's insane.... there is more drama at the pizza hut than there is in both places I've worked EMS.... I'm like wow is this how adults act maybe I'll just stay a kid.... anyways I'm of I have a few things I need to get done then I think the RGM and I are going to go to the fair.... My RGM and I are good friends now.... anyways TTYL

Carol It was Sue with the resumes, not me.

Nita, it never stops they just keep on missaing you so much that they  are all over you when you come through the door.  My two greet me right there at the door and both want all the attention So I come down to their size and love on  both at the same time as they vie foo all the attention.  It feel s so good to be so loved. I don't ever want to be without them.

Sue and Ruth, I am glad you tried that excersise, I do it often. I will get up from the computer and do them. I also stretch my back by putting one arm up over my head  the other arm going across in front of me and bending sideways as far as I am comfortable doing. Then I take a few deep breaths inhaling through the nose and exhaling through the mouth, then I do the exagerated shoulder rolls. When I told the Physical therapist what I was doing she told me that she was going to have me do those same excersises. I am so glad that I can now get myself to be pain free.

I am praying for that place I looked over in Eureka/Cutten, I really want that place.

Must get ready for work now I have to stop at the grocer for Jan before I go to her house.

Hi everyone.  It is another beautiful day here in Georgia but suppose to get into the mid-90's this afternoon.  This is Calvin Cove day for me so will have to get out about 1:45 but the car is air-conditioned as is the church so am not outside very often.  We only had about a dozen choir members show up last night but we had a good rehearsal and the room was cool.

Marilyn, I certainly hope the new place works out for you as it sounds like you would really like to live there.  Glad to see you are now pain free as know you have had bouts with pain over the last months.

Sarah, sometimes adults do very childish things.  You will soon be out of that situation and it sounds like you will be very glad to see that day arraive.

Carol, nice to see that you are home and the weather is more Denver like.  It sounds like you didn't have any more car trouble on your trip.  Maybe that was a one-time thing.

Etta Sue.  Thanks for the fine devotional today.  I got a flyer for the new season of the community theater that we have in our county.  Pat and I used to have season tickets but haven't attended any of the plays for several years.  They are moving the theater to the town just up the road about 5 miles from us.  Perhaps we will try to attend some of the plays then.  The tickets are really very reasonable considering it is professional theater. I hope you get the dates you want for each play.  It is nice you have a group of four to attend as it makes a very nice out.

Judy, nice to see that you enjoy living out in the country.  It is a great place for children and I am very thankful that I was able to grow up on a farm and I am equally thankful that I was able to move away from it after I had finished college.

Nita, the travel should be good for your grandson and the Air Force will probably be a good experience for him and help him mature.

Sue, you are going to have success with the resume's when the right position comes along.  However, am sure it is frustrating to not have something happen more quickly.

Ruth, I have never missed the farm and was happy when my folks decided to sell the farm and move to town.  They called both my sister and I to see if we objected to the sale as the property had been in the family for quite a few years.  Neither my sister or I ever wanted to move back to the farm and were both delighted to see our folks have the home they wanted in the bigger town where they didn't have to fight the pump for water and some of the other problems they experienced.  They were also going away for 6 months of the year to winter in Arizona and we were always concerned someone would break in and vandalize their home.  Fortunately that never happened.

I hope everyone has a good day.

Liz

Nice devotional, Etta Sue.  Thanks.

I decided to catch up on all the posts and try one before the day becomes too busy again.
Went into Victoria yest. to do some much needed shopping....nearly died from the heat!  I also looked into a couple of things offered at the city sr. centres.  Not happy with the local centre.  It is much easier to ignore mean spirited folks in larger centres.  They tend to 'poison' the smaller ones..... :-\

Amanda is trying to find a part-time job to help when returning to her studies.  Not much luck so far...could use your prayers.

Wendy has gone on a new anti-depressant as the other one made her gain weight at a rapid rate.  She has so much pain it is necessary to keep her sane!  This whole experience has been like a never ending nightmare.  Did research on the things and learned that most pack on the pounds, as much as one lb. per day!!!!  She is not quite 5 ft. tall and so any weight gain causes trouble.  This is supposed to not do that and is also non-addictive like the last one.  Hope that it will agree with her system and work over the long term.  I don't like the things and refuse to take anything stronger than Tylenol 3 from the dr.  Also have pain but not severe like hers.  Can cope with it better and more mobile and able to function.  That must also be hard for her....in her forties and me at 70!  Fortunately, Wendy has my silly sense of humor and lots of determination....That, with Christian Faith, sure can get one thro' lots in life :)

The cats are not enjoying the heat and Billy Bob from next door, spends most of his time eating us out of food and napping in the shade on the patio.  Tho' their peace is disturbed by the house next door getting a new roof....not to mention our peace!  Should soon be ended!  After I bought a collar and name tag for Billy Bob, the neighbor asked Wendy if we would like to share his vet bills.  Gad!  Sarah is right about adults...... :-\I put their address on the collar....he is their cat!!!!

Here is a small smile:  (after this post it may be needed)

The Positive Side of Life

Living on Earth is expensive, but it does include a free trip around the sun every year.

How long a minute is depends on what side of the bathroom door you're on.

Birthdays are good for you; the more you have, the longer you live.

Happiness comes through doors you didn't even know you left open.

Ever notice that the people who are late are often much jollier than the people who have to wait for them?

Most of us go to our grave with our music still inside of us.

If Wal-Mart is lowering prices every day, how come nothing is free yet?

You may be only one person in the world, but you may also be the world to one person.

Some mistakes are too much fun to only make once.

Don't cry because it's over; smile because it happened.

We could learn a lot from crayons: some are sharp, some are pretty, some are dull, some have weird names, and all are different colors....but they all exist very nicely in the same box.

A truly happy person is one who can enjoy the scenery on a detour

This may have been posted before, but still worth a small smile!!
;D ;D ;D

Pleasant day and God Bless.

CHANGE NOT THY FAITH WITH CHANGING TIMES

Papa John

We have another hot mid-summer day today with sunshine and 94 degrees.  I'm staying in for the most part where it is cool.

I like the changing seasons of the year.  It is hot now but I know it won't be long until the cooler days of Autumn with the harvest time and the beautiful days with colors of fall will come.

Gen 8:20-22
20   Then Noah built an altar to the LORD and, taking some of all the clean animals and clean birds, he sacrificed burnt offerings on it.
21   The LORD smelled the pleasing aroma and said in his heart: "Never again will I curse the ground because of man, even though every inclination of his heart is evil from childhood. And never again will I destroy all living creatures, as I have done.
22   "As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease."  (NIV)

I hope you all have a good day today.

Etta Sue

I have been busy.  I mowed this morning.  Then showered.  Had some lunch and then put the names, addresses, phone numbers and email addresses of my classmates on Microsoft Excel.  Now it is two pages instead of six pages.  I called some of the girl classmates to remind them of our luncheon the 13th.  The more I think about it, I think I am tired.

Ruth Ann Bice

Yes, Sue, my birthday was July 23 - am now 65. Thanks for noticing. I posted a funny story on my birthday about the circumstances surrounding my birth, but no one responded, so I assumed they didn't read it.

I had hoped we could go to Atlanta, but the van still needed work and taking back over and over and over throughout the day until about 4:00. Therefore, since my son needs 2 doctor's appts on successive days, we can't go this week.

I decided to take the vacation time anyway to try to recuperate a bit.

So, I won't be working until Monday. I need a mental and physical break.

It's so good hearing from all of you. Sometimes because I don't respond to each poster, people may think I don't read. But I do - even going back to the previous day to try to catch up on posts after I was able to get online.

Y'all have a good evening and tomorrow. I may not do anything tomorrow except for resting.

Ruth Ann

Ruthann I wish I could say I wasn't doing anything tomorrow except resting. That would be a joke in my house. I can never no to ANYTHING.

Ruth Ann, did you make your posting about your birth here in NEM.  I don't remember seeing it here and try to read each and every message posted in this discussion.  If you posted it in another discussion I apparently missed it.

Liz, hope the new medicine will bring some relief for your daughter.  She has certainly been having a battle.

Snapshotgal, it must be nice to have been offered more than one job.  That never happened to me.  :)

Papa John, it was really hot here today as well.  After I came out from Calvin Cove my Saturn didn't want to start so went back in and waited 10 minutes.  I had to do that 3 times.  We hadn't had this problem for quite a few days.  Fortunately I had a nice cool place to wait each of the 10 minute intervals.  I finally got it started and was glad to get home.

Marilyn, it keeping very busy that is keeping you young!

Etta Sue, you have had a busy day.

Al Moak

Liz - you may have posted "The Positive Side of Life" before, but I don't remember it (no surprise), so I thought they were great, specially the one about birthdays being good for you!  Thanks for that!!

Hello Everyone...

I'm sure you've all heard of "Sleepless is Seattle"...well, I was "Sleepless in Guelph" last night so I worked on Guelph Hiking Trail Club's webpage.

I have to make some new buttons as we have a forum and photo gallery like this site has but only for our members here in Guelph so it won't ever be very busy.

I finally went back to bed about 5:45 am!

I heard from Lee Kirkwood the other day.  His grandson was in a terrible car accident in Los Angeles (I think that's what he said).

Here's his email as I feel that we should all remember this fellow before the Throne of Grace:

QuoteDear friends and family.

We are asking for your prayers.  Danny Welle, our grandson was in a serious traffic accident early this morning.  Dan is a Los Angeles deputy sheriff, and was on duty when the accident occured.  My daughter Dian is a nurse and explains his condition in depth. Dan is 6'10" and  290 lbs, so you can see why the impact was so great.  Actually, I don't feel he will get out of the hospital as soon as Dian says, but then, I'm not there.

Thanks for your prayers.

Lee and Vivian

I had a further update today but his photos didn't come through so we'll see when they do.

Also, on SeniorNet and Photography Cafe, one of the members, Jaycee has a little grandson, Pete, who is 4 years old and they've found a milignant tumor on one of his kidneys and he must undergo surgery to remove this kidney tomorrow morning.

Let's all pray for this dear wee fellow tomorrow.

Peter - Jaycee's 4 year old grandson

Will undergo surgery tomorrow to remove a kidney with a malignant tumor. He can use all the prayers and good wishes you can send his way. Thank you.

RuthAnn :  Like, Larry - I always read each and every post... and don't recall reading about your birth story.  I wondered if I missed it, as Norm and I left for our vacation up north, on July 23rd.  That is an important day in our family too.  My daughter Karen's birthday is July 23rd., also, my brother, Dave's.

I am so sorry to learn of Lee and Vivian's grandson being in such a terrible accident, and will be praying for him.

It also saddens me too, when I read of little guy's like Jaycee's grandson, Pete, needing such serious surgery.

I will also be praying for this little fellow.

It is so important to share our prayer requests here.
"I am too blessed to be stressed".

Ruth Ann I went digging till I found the story.  The story is amazing.

I am sure we could write a book with all the things that have happened to us all as friends and believers,

Today was the BBQ at church.  We had a wonderful time. The teaching was on the beatitudes.  The attitudes that should be!  Pastor Jeff has a way with kids and they really understnd and respond.  He uses puppets, drawings and stories.  At the end of this week the kids will have a clear understanding of what the beatitudes are, what they mean, and have the verses in Matthew 5 memorized.

I will be praying for Lee Kirkwood's family.  He and his wife have been heavy on my heart over the last couple of weeks.

We went swimming in the lake again today.  The kids had fun jumpig over the waves.  The wind was strong and the lake rough.  What fun.

Wel Night all
Judy

Just passing by so thought I'd stop in.   :P

I have been here and there but not too often here, lately!  Sorry 'bout that.

I am pleased to let y'all know that my daughter JOY has joined us here.  This makes me happy because she is/will be a wonderful asset to CP.  Y'all will soon learn this for yourselves.

I've been posting more photos of our trip to Victoria BC and nearby points.  Still have a couple more to share then I'll let y'all have a break for a while.

I'll be back... Jane
