Janet: Hello, Friends!  Let's get this going again!  I miss  hearing from all of you! 2025-01-23, 19:26:16

Don: Hey Judy, It's been a long time. Hope you are doing well. 2024-12-02, 22:41:41

JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Oldiesmann: So sorry for your loss Carol. Praying for you and your family :( 2022-05-01, 17:13:05

Carol: My husband Don is with the angels.....Our family was able to hold  ourselves together for the last moments.  Juar rhoufhr you might want to know. 2022-04-29, 23:35:15

SUMMER PHOTO CHALLENGE

How are you spending your summer?  We'd love to see how
Post your summer vacation photos HERE

Morning Devotional...

The god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
2 Corinthians 4:4

It was six years ago yesterday that nearly 350 million people in Europe and Asia witnessed the last total solar eclipse of the twentieth century—the moon completely blocking out the sun.

Today, Satan cunningly tries to eclipse the light of the gospel with counterfeit religion and the pleasure of sin.

For the millions who "believe not", they remain in darkness, heading quickly to a lost eternity.

May we, as Christians, be careful to reflect the gospel light in our own lives and be eager to share Heaven's Son-shine with them.
—B. Cretney

While Satan does his very best to blind the minds of men,
God, help me do my very best to shine Your love to them
B. C.

The Lighthouse

Then Jesus spoke to them again,
saying, "I am the light of the world. He who follows
Me shall not walk in darkness,
but have the light of life."

John 8:12

Words and Music: ©Ronnie Hinson

There's a Lighthouse on the hillside,
that overlooks life's sea.
When I'm tossed it sends out a light,
light that I might see.
And the light that shines in darkness,
now will safely lead me home,
And if it wasn't for the lighthouse,
my ship would sail no more.

And I thank God for The Lighthouse,
I owe my life to Him.
Jesus is The Lighthouse
and from the rocks of sin,
He has shown the light around me,
so that I might clearly see.
And if it wasn't for The Lighthouse,
where would this ship be?

Everyone that lives around us,
says tear that old lighthouse down,
The big ships don't sail this way anymore,
ain't no use in it standing round.
But then my mind goes back to that stormy night,
when just in time I saw the light
With the light from that old lighthouse,
that stands there on the hill.

And I thank God for The Lighthouse,
I owe my life to Him.
Jesus is The Lighthouse
and from the rocks of sin,
He has shown the light around me,
so that I might clearly see.
And if it wasn't for The Lighthouse,
Where would this ship be?

We're just wondering...

  • Gallery... Have you all been making good use of the Gallery?  Uploading lots of photos?  Karma and I are discussing about maybe introducing something new so keep watching!

  • Google Ads...  Thanks so much for clicking on them.  They are helping to pay for the Hosting of this enlarged site.

  • Morning Devotional... Let's reflect on the devotional that the moderators put in each day and if you have one to share, which we all enjoy so much, might we ask if it could be put in later on so that the one in the first post can be meditated upon and discussed if someone wishes?

  • Guest Book...  I'd like to thank those of you who recently signed the Guest Book!  Nice to see!

  • Summer Challenge...  How are you spending the Summer?  Are you going to the beach?  Are you doing any baking?  Do you have family visiting?  Hiking?  Boating?  Taking photos?  Post them in our Summer Challenge album in the Gallery!

  • Hymns... Are there any of the old hymns that we'd have no trouble getting a midi file for that you'd like us to try to get?  Are you enjoying listening to them when we put them in here?  Let us know the title and we'll do our best.  (We know that a couple of you like "As the Deer Panteth"  :D )

Janet

Good morning!  I overslept and missed my early morning exercise today  :(  I cannot allow that to happen often, for sure!)

I am going to Garden City with Pat E. today, Beth has given me a list of things she wants for her trip.  I don't have any idea what time we will be home, but plan to have FUN!!  For sure, we will eat out somewhere!  :P :-\ ;D

We did get some rain last night!  Thank you, Lord!  I haven't been out to check the guage yet but whatever there is, was really needed and is appreciated.

Thanks for the "reminder list" today, Pat!  We all need reminding from time to time.

Y'all have a great day!
My book Rising Above available at JanetDamon.com

Marilyn

Thank you Pat for the devotional and the reminder. I know I have been posting deovitonals first thing in the morning while they are still fresh in my mind and before I get on with my day and forget to post them. However in respect for your wishes I will not post them first thing in the morning.

Do any of you know anything about Adobe Illustrator or Adobe Pagemaker? I would like to learn thses two programs. Gilbert uses them to publish his catalogue.

My landlord has given me another month to find a place and I have given it to the Lord. I have been so frustrated over the situation and places getting rented out from under me that I have been waking up in the wee hours  with so much worry that sometimes I cannot go back to sleep. However today the Lord spoke to me through a little pamphlet that I received from a place where I get a daily devotional. What a relief that I can Lean on Him in these times of distress. I know that He has a place where me and the dogs will be happy.Oh what a blessing it is to be a Child of the King.

Well on with my day now.

Pat:  I especially like reflecting the light in your devotion today.  Perhaps you can start a separate spot for Personal Devotions or Abundant Devotions and take one at a time to discuss.  Or, name a day of the week for other devotions.  Just throwing out some ideas.

Marilyn:  Prayers for you to find a good home.

Janet:  You must have needed that sleep!

We are off to visit daughter and take her to lunch for belated birthday.  We were going to a VBS play tonight but the church changed it to Thursday night because of parents wanting to go out=of-town, so missed the little play.  But there will be plenty of time to listen to their piano playing and hearing all the stories.

Have a good and safe weekend all.

Nita ~ I noticed my profile pix pixelated but I wasn't pleased with that pix anyway so thought it was the same.  Now I see others that are pixelated.  Hmmmm!

Babycakes38 ~ That's at least two of us that agrees it isn't Nita computer that is pixelating.

Pat ~ Do you see the pixelated profile pixes?  Pat, thanx for the reminder list.  'When' I get my new camera, I will be using the Gallery often, I hope.  But it does remind me to get my battery charged for tomorrows Girls Class of 1960 and FROGGS back in the woods.

Karma ~ That is a good idea to homeschool Travis.  He is a very smart little boy...even when I saw him 2 years ago.

Larry ~ I am cell phone illiterate since I only got my first cell phone while Jerry was in the hospital.  But I like it.  That is how I keep in touch with my girl classmates.  Pick up the phone and call.  I will never use 450 minutes of all the time calling in a month.  And after 9 and on weekends it is free anyway.  I didn't realize there were so many email programs.  I just use Outlook Express.  CoreComm has their own but just my Spam goes to it.

Marilyn ~ I have two loaves of Zucchini Bread in the oven.  I can't smell it yet because I just put them in.  They ought to be good for our outting in the woods tomorrow.  I have never heard of Adobe Illustrator or Adobe Pagemaker, so I am unable to help you there.  I did hear that PSP has or is coming out with PSP 10.  Do you know anything about that?

Papa John ~ I was wondering if you and Cornelia were still reading the Bible outloud together.  I remember when you started doing that.  That would be a powerful way of reading the Bible...together.  Tell Cornelia hello for me and don't do any speeding tricks on your scooter.

Janet ~ I noticed in my little rain gauge that we got 1.5 inches of rain in a matter of minutes yesterday afternoon.  Wish I could send some your way.  I wouldn't care if we had a drought....grass doesn't grow in droughts.  Have fun at Garden City...I saw a parade there once trying to get through town.

Carol ~ Sorry you missed the VBS play.  They are always so fun to watch.  The kids always do so great.

Today will be spent getting everything together to take to the woods and to the Girls Class of 1960.  FROGGS is from 9 a.m to 9 p.m. and the Girls Class of 1960  is at noon but at Lapel so only 10 minutes on the road.  So I won't be missing much at the FROGGS Get Together.

While I was composing this, I now smell the Zucchini Bread....can you smell it, too?   :-* :-*

Good Morning Everyone!

I'm so late.  I was up during the night so often and then I slept in but I have my coffee, Geordie is outside, AND it's drizzling with rain--so welcome for our plants!

I don't have those two programmes, Marilyn.  But I think that they've been talking about them on Photography Cafe.  I'll check and see and let you know.  Also, I sure am praying for you and this home search of yours.  This is sure not a pleasant position to be in.  :-*

Etta Sue, where do you have your profile photo originating?  I'll look into this more but we had some huge profile photos that were over 350 pixels wide and so I had to click on the wee spot in the Admin area allowing them only to be 120 pixels wide at the largest.

I'll see what else we can do.  Don't despair folks!

Etta Sue, sounds like you are having a great time with your classmates!  That's great!

Thanks Carol...  We do have the Manna For The Soul area that might like to be used more!  ;D  Karma and I are working together behind the scenes and we'll figure something out.  Glad you enjoyed today's devotional Carol.

Well, I have to see about moving more "stuff" to the basement and so I better shake a leg!

Don't forget to click on ads if you have a spare 30 seconds or so.

Talk to you all soon.

PAT~I think, when you changed the "allowable pixel width" for personal photos, this made some of ours (mine, Nita's, Etta Sue's, etc.) "pixelated" because my photo is originally only 78x100 pixels.   ???  By making the requirement to be "no more than" 120, it enlarged mine (and probably the others as well).  Just thinking ...  :-\

P.S. I just changed my photo in my profile

Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Pat

Profile photos size is now set at 80 pixels wide so all should be fine.

Has anyone had any trouble in the last couple of days uploading to the Gallery?

Somehow something got ticked and the size was greatly reduced of your individual galleries.  I've changed it back now and everyone has 10 MG so please see if you can upload and then let me know if all is ok?

SmokytheDog was trying to upload to our Summer Challenge and couldn't so hopefully he'll be able to now.  I'm so happy he let me know.

Karma, it's so good to have your profound thoughts again!

Marilyn - When I was at Grass Valley Group just a few years ago I used Pagemaker and Illustrator part of the time.  I'm not very good on them, but I could probably use them if I had to.  I'll have to look, but I think I still have Pagemaker on my hard drive.

Nita

Heh.  It's good to come to see you and find everyone is healed from Pixelitis. :)  You look much better now.  Don't you hate it when you wake up with luminous squares all over your face?  So glad we are all normal.........well, as normal as this group can be.

Janet, I did get some cranberry juice...lo carb.  My daughter used to get these UTIs a lot and I found some concentrated, sugarless, cranberry juice for her at the healthfood store.  She would add water, or put it in a juice.  What I have done is cut out coffee.  gulp!  This is my third day without it.  Really, I don't miss it.  Really, I don't.  ::)  But do without it, I can.  I'd already stopped drinking diet soda......so it's water, water, water.

Marilyn, surely the Lord will reward your faith by giving you a place for you and your kids.  It's just that sometimes rental owners don't care much for our "kids".  There are dog lovers out there, with the perfect rental for you. I'm continuing to pray, honey.  I know I could never lose my little guys, so I know that isn't an option for you.

Pat!  So I sound ill?? LOL  Did I sound good ill or bad ill?  haha

clicking those google ads.

My grandaughter is wanting pizza, and mom is paying, so guess I'd better make the call.  Dominos, it is.

Etta Sue.......I love Zuchinni bread.  Yep, I do.  As soon as I have more apples ripe, I'll be making my apple cakes to freeze.  My son in law loves them, so I try to keep some for him.

Blessings,  nita

As the Deer Panteth for the Water
(Click to hear music)

Written by Martin Nystrom

Psalm 42:1
"As the hart panteth after the water brooks,
so panteth my soul after thee, O God."

As the deer panteth for the water,
So my soul longs after you.
You alone are my hearts desire,
And I long to worship You.

Chorus
You alone are my strength, my shield;
To You alone may my spirit yield.
You alone are my hearts desire,
and I long to worship You.

I want you more than gold or silver,
Only You can satisfy.
You alone are the real joy giver
And the apple of my eye.

Chorus
You alone are my strength, my shield;
To You alone may my spirit yield.
You alone are my hearts desire,
and I long to worship You.

You're my friend and You're my brother,
Even though you are a King.
I love You more than any other
So much more than anything.

Chorus
You alone are my strength, my shield;
To You alone may my spirit yield.
You alone are my hearts desire,
and I long to worship You.

Hi everyone.  I am late getting here today.  After coffee at the senior center, Pat and I picked up my friend Rod to go to our monthly SeniorNet Learning Center volunteers meetings.  Then Pat had a luncheon at the center to attend so Rod and I went to the mall and got a bite to eat and then went to Fry's again where he purchased a new computer they had on sale for $179 that uses Linspire (a Linux type operating sytem in place of Windows).  When I got home I was ready for a nap.

Pat, I have been trying to click on the Google ads each day.  I must admit I don't use the Gallery very often as I don't take many photos.  I really should take more as I have a nice camera now.  I think your suggestion for us to post supplemental devotional type material is a good one as it will allow us to focus on one at a time.  It will be nice to have some devotional pieces in the afternoon or evenings as well as first thing in the morning.  As you indicated if folks will let us know of hymns they would like to have used we can probably accommodate the request.

Janet, I hope you just had a super day with your friend.  I have certainly been enjoying going places with my new friend Rod.  This is something I had never really done much of before and he and I have many interests in common.  Of course the main one is computers.

Marilyn, I am glad you have a little additional time for househunting.  I am sure it has been a matter of concern.

Carol, too bad that you missed the VBS play.

Etta Sue, we have gone to the pay-as-you go type cell phones.  Neither Pat nor I use them very much and to have two plans under a contract was just too expensive.  We tried that for a year and really used very few of the minutes we paid for.  Glad to see you got some rain.  We had some thunder earlier this evening but don't think we had any rain.  We really don't need anymore right at the moment as it has been extremely wet here this summer.

scrappy_friend welcome to CP.

There are several that have posted today that I haven't named but I have read all of the postings and it is getting late.

Even if you aren't into photography, you can still comment.  It's the same in the Gallery as in the Photos Here area of our forum.  I'd sure love to see more comments under the photos.

Just click on "Gallery" and then when you are there, click on "Last Uploads" and post comments under the photos.

Good Evening: ( reminds me of Alfred Hichcock) Ha Ha. He used to say that at the beginning of his program.

I have been listening to As The Deer and singing along. I sure do love that  song, Thank you Patricia Scott. I did have a devotional that I was going to post this afternoon but I lost it in cyber space when I ran the disk cleanup and defraged my compute, I had it on the clipboard.

Our lead Keyboardist and singer in our Worship team stepped down since Sunday.  She will be greatly missed. She wasn't happy when the new worship "pastor" came in and took over, she was the worship leader, and her role seemed to dimish more evey week. He has  made an announcement that anyone who wants to sing or do a special to let him know. I have been asking to sing with them for a long time but it has never happened. So I am not going to volunteer. I get stage fright  so badly that It is difficult for me to solo in front of anyone. I have always had to have someone  near me singing even if they weren't in the mike.

Pat since I switched back to Internet Explorer from AOL I do not see the Google ads. So I can't click on them anymore.

Hey Al if you can't find you Adobe Pagemaker I can send it to you. I have Gilbert's disk with it in a zip file.

Well back to my crocheting.

So glad, Marilyn, that you are enjoying that midi.  I'm still listening to is as I work away here at the computer.  I must get off soon though and see if I can do more organizing in my basement room.  Now that I have the cable down there (thanks to Phil last night), I'll try to see if I can organize that room better.

By the way, I'm going to have company in my home.  I'm having two granddaughters come and live with me.  They announced it to me last Sunday when I was up at the baptism.  I don't mind at all.

It will be nice to have company so that I won't have to keep talking to myself!  LOL

Must go.  Have to do the NEM for tonight.

Nita  You say apple cake?  Can you post a recipe?  That is something I can freeze for desserts or breakfasts.  I have a 14yo who doesn't eat breakfast..... BUT she will eat banana bread/zucchini bread and likely apple cake too.  I cut down the sugar and up the nuts and other additions.

We had Victor here today.  He us such a darling.  He finished his supper before the rest, and was about to get down from the table when he said "Oh I can't get down till everyone else is done.  Right Gramma?"  I asked Bonnie about it and she said I was the only one who had that rule.  After a year and a half he remembered!

He came up in the truck with John.  He is turning into quite the young man.

Well I am tired The girls have poured me a bath so I am off.  Night all
