Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Common experience declares how momentary and how useless are those violent fits and gusts of endeavours which proceed from fear and uncertainty, both in things spiritual and things temporal, or civil. Whilst men are under the power of actual impressions from such fears, they will convert to God, yea, they will turn in a moment, and perfect their holiness in an instant; but so soon as that impression wears off (as it will do on every occasion, and upon none at all) such persons are as dead and cold towards God as the lead or iron, which but now ran in a fiery stream, is now when the heat is departed from it.

Morning Devotional...

Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.
Isaiah 26:3

When ones thoughts are fixed on the goodness and loving-kindness of God, sweet peace fills the heart.

Our prayer should be that of the psalmist, "Turn away my eyes from beholding vanity".

It was the ungodly world that crucified our Lord!

Can we take pleasure in its amusements, and rob our minds of God's perfect peace?
—E. MacLelland

O, how the thought of God attracts,
And draws the heart from earth,
And sickens it of passing shows,
And dissipating mirth!

There's a Quiet Understanding
(Click to hear music)

by Tedd Smith

© 1973 Hope Publishing Company

There's a quiet understanding
When we're gathered in the spirit
It's a promise that He gives us
When we gather in His name
There's a love we feel in Jesus
There's a manna that He feeds us
It's a promise that He gives us
When we gather in His name

And we know when we're together
Sharing love and understanding
That our brothers and our sisters
Feel the oneness that He brings
Thank You, thank You, thank You, Jesus
For the way You love and feed us
For the many ways You lead us
Thank You, thank You, Lord

Thank you for the beautiful promise of peace.  I am not in bed yet with my husband because I am sending up prayers for others....thank you for reminding me of the peace that comes that passes all understanding when my mind is stayed focused on HIM.  He is so good, all the time.

I praise God for this community of believers.......your fellowship is sweet and your photographs are great.  I have enjoyed playing some of the games too ----

Not much more to say at this point.  I am full - of HIS glory and speechless...........I am now also sleepy......I'll check back in later today.........

We plan to go out on the boat <later today> tomorrow in the early evening.....we will take another couple wth us and may putt over to the far side of the bay - Yelapa - and have dinner.  It is a nice little village with no automobiles and only access is by water -- or mule -- it's rustic and quiet....it is where we go to "get away" from all the "stress" of Vallarta...I'll let you know how it is.

I wish I could take the time to figure out how to put my photos on here.......I will, I will, someday....

gotta go to bed......

Janet

Gooood Morning!!  ;D ;D  I am taking a break from chasing dust bunnies to see what is happening here on CP.

Thanks, Al, yes, I had a great day with my friend yesterday.  She likes to shop, look, and take her time, but seems to get tired about the same time I do, so it doesn't wear me completely out.  We had lunch at Applebee's, a nice chicken sandwich.  I got most everything Beth needed, and got a few mor scrapbooking supplies for me.  (I sure don't NEED any more, but don't want to resist when I see really cute things on sale!  ;))

Joy, may I tag along across the bay?  Sounds like the kind of place Darrel and I enjoy.  We really like going to the more primitive places, and neither of us enjoys big cities much.  Guess we are just "country" at heart.  :D

The peace of God that passes all understanding----how sweet it is and how we all need and long for it in the chaotic times we live in today!  Thanks, Pat.  By the way, I want to see YOU, not some little avatar in your place!  So how about it?  I thought you had just put that in for a day or two, but since it's still there, I am asking.

Marilyn, hope you get a place soon.  As a rental owner I can sure understand many of them not wanting two big dogs in their property.  We have had some really bad experiences with animal owners.  I know you take care of things, but they don't know you, and thus are apprehensive about the dogs.  Hope you find something soon, it's been a long time coming.

I thought we could all use some chuckles.  This is long, so if you don't want to read it all, feel free to scroll on by!  I won't even know it!  ;) ;D

Good Saturday afternoon to Pat, Joy, Jane. Marilyn, Janet, Karma, and Al and others who will drop in.

We are continuing to suffer from the mid-summer heat with temperatures up over 90 every day for some weeks.  Yesterday when we were driving across town we saw a temperature of 102 degrees but the official high was just 98 degrees.

Janet, you win the humor prize for today.

I have spent several hours getting caught up on the reading.  I have been busy putting corn in the freezer - making some Zucchini Relish we also had our carpet in the living & dining room  stretched which meant emptying the buffet( in order to move it) that was a good thing as several of the items were put in storage and others hit the garbage sort of like clearing the kitchen cupboards.

Now it is time to shut down and finish some of my other paper work, watch the baseball game and get dinner ready.  Dinner this evening will be hamburgers with fresh beans. Who is going to join us?

In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.  Proverbs 3:6

Janet, I laughed and laughed.  Those are so funny.  I sent them on to lots of people who like to laugh. :)

Judy, most apple cake recipes are about the same.   If you don't like the one in recipes here, let me know and I'll send you mine.  It's pretty basic.  I like adding nuts too......and sometimes raisins, have even snuck in shredded carrots.

Pat, my grandaughter, Angel(who is sitting in my living room right now)tells me that when she finishes school, she is moving in with me.  How old are your grandaughters?  They will sure be company for you.  Now, we shall see just how much company you want. haha  Do they have their own computers?

ps:  Just clicked on google ad "God without Religion".  It is sorta strange, Pat.

Janet

I'm so glad you all got some laughs out of those signs.  Darrel buys stuff in the Oriental grocery stores where he has alarm systems, and the directions to cook some of them are hysterical!  ;D  "Turn loose the noodle by means the chopstick, etc."  We get a kick out of reading them.

Nita, your apple cake sounds very good.  I use applesauce in my baking in place of oil or shortening.  Sure saves on calories and gives a nice moist product, too.  I'm sure you are all aware of that trick.

I spent most of the day cleaning up my desk and the shelves above it, getting rid of lots of papers and putting others away.  Also took up one pair of pants that were too big for me and hemmed up anoter that were too long.  Then I put velcro on Beth's walker bag so it will be easier for her to put on and take off her walker.  Isn't that an exciting way to spend a day?  Oh, yes, I also made a big broccoli salad to take to a dinner tomorrow.

I am going the 19th and 20th to Denver with a busload of women from here, to the Women of Faith Conference.  That's what the dinner is about.  They served a big German dinner while we were away to Family reunion, had lots of food left, so they froze it and will be serving it tomorrow as a fund-raiser to help with the expense of the trip.  We are each to bring a salad or vegetable to go with it.

Have a nice evening, folks!

I've also been freezing corn, Ruth.  Have you put the zucchini recipe in our recipe area?  That sounds interesting to me.

I had to go and buy a fridge last night at Sears.  I had gone down to the basement and found that the fridge that came from my Dad's home had "kicked the bucket" as had all that I had stored in it.  It is really a mess.  So now that's the next on my list to clean up and move stuff so that the delivery men can remove this fridge and put the new one in place.

Hi Nita.  The girls now are 17 and 16 but will be 18 and 17 when this happens.  They'll have to have their own computers as I can't have anyone else using mine.

Try to just bypass the strange ads, Nita.  Probably it's related to something on the page as they are all content related.  I have several blocked but we can only block so many.  Thanks for telling me though.  I haven't seen it.

Jesus Is the Sweetest Name I Know
(Click to hear music)

Thy Name is as ointment poured forth.
Song of Solomon 1:3

Words & Music: Lela B. Long

There have been names that I have loved to hear,
But never has there been a name so dear
To this heart of mine, as the Name divine,
The precious, precious Name of Jesus.

Refrain
Jesus is the sweetest name I know,
And He's just the same as His lovely Name,
And that's the reason why I love Him so;
Oh, Jesus is the sweetest name I know.

There is no name in earth or heav'n above,
That we should give such honor and such love
As the blessed Name, let us all acclaim,
That wondrous, glorious Name of Jesus.

Refrain

And some day I shall see Him face to face
To thank and praise Him for His wondrous grace,
Which He gave to me, when He made me free,
The blessed Son of God called Jesus.

Nita:  are you looking forward to having your g.daughter moving in?  Don't know if I'd like that or not.  I'm expecting that one of my g.kids might ask to do that, as we live in a University town here.

Pat - you will have 2 really nice fridges now.  You can't go wrong in buying new, thats for sure.

Did you ever get your new stove?

I must go check out that apple cake you are all talking about.  I have apples in to make a pie on Monday.  Norm is getting spoiled with all the baking I'm doing.  Last week, I made a blueberry pie.

How many of you like blueberry pie?
"I am too blessed to be stressed".

Marilyn

MMMM blueberry pie. Have you had Blackberry Cheese Cake? it sure sound good but I haven't tried it yet.

Pat how big is your house, isn't it a two bedroom bungalow?

I have been crocheting most of the afternoon I did put up 8 jars of Pineapple jam. It sure tastes good. I have decided to go ahead and make jams while I am waiting to move. I was going to do that AFTER I move. However time marches on and I need to but the strawberries before they  aren't any good. The blackberries here by me aren't big enough to pick yet.  Hey Al how are your Berries?

Have you found a home yet Marilyn?  I often pray about this - wondered if I should be Praising God for answered prayer regarding this.

Judy B:  Oh my goodness - how can you possibly make all those dresses by August 19th?  Imagine, that dressmaker "dumping" that sewing project.....that poor girl.....as if she dosen't have enough to worry about.

Janet:  I hope you and Darrelo are feeling better today!  How is Beth?....and John?.....and John's mother??

Yes, Judy I got the new stove last spring.  I really like it.  I had ordered one that was going out and when it came time to deliver it, they had sold that one and no more were available so they delivered me one up from it in quality for the same price.  That was nice.

The fridge I'm getting for the basement isn't all that wonderful as having many bells and whistles, etc.  It's in the Sears flyer.  Nothing like my fridge upstairs.

It's awful to go down there and smell the odor.  I imagine that won't leave till this fridge has gone to the dump.

I love blueberry pie, Judy!

Hi Marilyn...  Yes, it's a 980 square foot two bedroom bungalow.  But don't forget that we have a basement under that.  It was a lovely deal when we bought it back in 1985.  It was our 25th Wedding Anniversary gift to each other--our first home!  Up until then we had always rented.

I store all my flour and baking things in the downstairs fridge to keep the weevils out.

Marilyn ~ I ordered PSP X.  Maybe when and if I get my new camera the new PSP X will help with my photos, too.

Pat ~ My photo profile is from my CoreComm space.  It is 80 x 100 pixels and 10.1 kbs.  Geesh!  I wanted the caption for the horse to be 'Raspberries'!!!

Karma ~ I was thinking...rooms?...move rooms???how is that done?  Glad I wasn't the only one thinking moving rooms was a different way of saying...moving furnishing in rooms.

Al ~ Karma is good with her thoughts, isn't she?

Nita ~ I had one whole loaf of Zucchini Bread left over so I put it in two packages for the freezer.  I even like it better after it is froze and thawed.  Apple Cake?  Is that recipe in our recipes here on CP?  Do you icing it or use Cool Whip?

Larry ~ I am thinking that when this two year contract is up on my cell phone, I will go to the pay as you go plan, too.  I don't use mine that much either but nice if I need it.

JudyB ~ That Apple Cake does sound good, doesn't it?  I like to freeze things like that too...in small portions so I don't sit and eat it all.

Joy ~ Great to see you posting.  Yes, I want you to post photos.  I know Vallarta has some beautiful scenery.  I have some fellow church members that vacation in Porta Vallarta....is that the same as Vallarta?

Jane ~ I like your profile photo...did you say it is a new one?  And yes, any of us moderators can and will post photos for people.  Just send them by email to us.

Janet ~ Your funny was very funny.  Ah, the English language....velly diffycult!

Papa John ~ Hi there, too!  It was hot here today but we had a lovely breeze.

Ruth ~ I will join you for hamburgers and fresh beans but I think I will be late.  Could you hold it for another day for me?

Judy Mc ~ Hi Judy....long time, no see!  I really can't say I like Blueberry anything.  Not my favorite at all.

What a busy day for me.  Showered and washed hair as soon as I got up.  Loaded the car and took things back to the woods.  Sprayed with OFF...mosquitos were terrible and sprayed Raid on the ground...much better.  A few people came back.  I left at 11:30 a.m.  Came to the house and wash off OFF and sprayed on cologne.  Went to the Girls luncheon.  Nine of us showed up and got back home by 2 p.m.  Washed cologne off...mosquitos like cologne/perfume.  Changed into cooler clothes.  Went back to the woods.  More people came.  Total of 29 different people back in the woods so I say it was a great success for our 1st Annual FROGGS Get Together.  Everyone seems to really enjoy just sitting around, talking, roasting a brat or a dog, eatting chips, cookies, Zucchini Bread and such.  The little kids first thought there was nothing to do but then all of a sudden they were having a great time, too.  About dark we all loaded the cars and went to our homes.  I put everything away and took another shower and washed my hair.  The weather was great...not really too awfully hot with a wonderful breeze.  It sprinkled a tiny bit once but then the sun came back out.  Really a great day.
