JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

They cried out...Crucify Him, crucify Him. Pilate saith unto them, Take ye Him, and crucify Him: for I find no fault in Him. I am innocent of the blood of this just person: see ye to it.
John 19:6; Matthew 27:24

Was there ever a greater travesty of justice?

Pilate pronounced his verdict, innocent, but turned Jesus over to the mob and said, "He's your responsibility." By this action he condemned the sinless Saviour to death.

Calvary was the ultimate display of man's injustice and yet at the same time it placed God's justice on full display!

The innocent dies and in so dying He "takes away the sin of the world" (Jn. 1:29).

Today, as we remember Him, may our hearts be drawn to the One who died, "the just for the unjust" (1 Pet. 3:18).
—Jim Comte

How deep the Father's love for us,
How vast beyond all measure,
That He should give His only Son
to make a wretch His treasure.

Pat my friend is selling blueberries again.  Would you like some?

The girls help her clean them when they are there.  They have 10 - 17 11 litre baskets at a time.

Pat the devotional is good thank you.

We all had bacon and eggs and V8 for breakfast.  This is interesting seeing Melaura doesn't like to eat in the morning.  All the plates were clean though.

WE have a wedding immediately after the service today.  This is new for us the first in our church family to have a wedding on a Sunday.  The bride finished Theological seminary in May and met heer beau in seminary.  The whole church family is thrilled they make such a nice couple and dynamite team.

Have a good day folks wiil be back tonight.

Pat the bags of blueberries that we gave you last year are $30.00.  I will pick up some for you toward the end of the season.  They tend to be sweeter then.

We had a good service today.  Pastor D was talking about having friends who had the courage and love to tell the truth when you are going wrong.  I am so fortunate that I have such a friend and I try to be that kind of friend.

We came straight home today as John had to leave right away. He has gone to Chrystal Hill VA, and his backhaul is set.  I am hoping that he will be able to be off on Sunday next as it is our anual baptisimal service in Lake Nippising. It is the closest too the Jordan we can get here in Northern ON.  There are 2 people wanting to participate, we will see what Dennis says when they call him.  I will let you know next week.

Well God Bless you all

Judy

It's a year since we played this hymn and I've been humming it all day here so thought we might as well sing it together as the words are so true.

THAT MAN OF CALVARY
(Click to hear music)

When they were come to the place,
which is called Calvary,
there they crucified Him.
Luke 23:33

Words: Manie P. Ferguson (1850-1932)

Fairest of all the earth beside,
Chiefest of all unto Thy bride,
Fullness divine in Thee I see,
Beautiful Man of Calvary!

Refrain

That Man of Calvary
Has won my heart from me,
And died to set me free,
Blest Man of Calvary!

Granting the sinner life and peace,
Granting the captive sweet release,
Shedding His blood to make us free,
Merciful Man of Calvary!

Refrain

Giving the gifts obtained for men,
Pouring out love beyond our ken,
Giving us spotless purity,
Bountiful Man of Calvary!

Refrain

Comfort of all my earthly way,
Jesus I'll meet Thee some sweet day;
Center of glory Thee I'll see,
Wonderful Man of Calvary!

Refrain

Ive never heard this hymn before, Pat....words are beautiful.

This moring we took a vote in our church to change the name from Calvary Baptist Church, to South Ridge Community Church!

Now - isn't this awful?  The vote went through.....they want the"Baptist" dropped.  The reasoning is, they feel that we will get new people who don't want to be affiliated with "Baptist".

I was always proud to say I was Baptist.  Guess I should not let it bother me, and just say, "I am a Christian", and let it go at that.

Judy B:  If you can - I'd love some blueberries too.  $30.00 is reasonable.  I'll gladly have the money ready for you, should you be able to bring me some too.!

Just let me know....Thanks.,
- Judy

ps - how are you making out sewing all those dresses?
"I am too blessed to be stressed".

Janet

YUM!!!  I LOVE blueberries!  In fact, I bought a small container of them the other day, haven't used them yet, though.  Must be something in the air causing all of you ladies to get in the kitchen and COOK!!  :P ;D

Beth is perking up more by the day.  Just know she is going to soon be with John again is a tonic for her, I think.  My friend Pat (the one in Ulysses, not the one in Guelph!  ;)) is going with me to take her to get on the plane.  Her flight is very early--5:20 AM--so we will go on Tuesday and have a "girls' day out".  Pat and I want to go to Hobby Lobby, and Dodge City is the nearest one to us.

The German dinner was well attended today, and there was a scant spoonful of my salad left, so I guess it was a good choice to make.  I really can't say I cared for the German sausage (sort of like bratwurst) and the ------ I can't remember what they called those things!  But some people call them perogies.  Bread stuffed with cottage cheese, anyway.  Then they had gravy to go over them.  So I liked the salads best of what they had........and of course, the desserts!  I had a small slice of peach pie.

I am making a throw for my sister Jeanie for Christmas.  It is one of those with fringed edges, small squares sewn together.  This one has cats on it, as she is a cat lover.  She lost her last cat recently, it was sick and was sneezing blood all over the place, so she had to have him put down.  I know, I know........TMI.....sorry.

I am feeling good again, and thanking the Lord for how good it feels to feel good!

Pat, where on earth will you put two grown girls and all the stuff they "have" to have?  Don't you only have one extra bed, twin size?  (Inquiring minds want to know.)  ;) ;D  So sorry about your other refrigerator.  That makes about all your appliances new now, doesn't it?  I hope so, anyway.

Hi everyone.  I had just written a response and guess I failed to click the final post button.  It has been a long time since that happened but know that is exactly what I did and then I had closed that tab and thus can't recover it.  I didn't say anything of importance so am just going to leave this at hi today.  I have read all of the postings and see some of you have been very busy.

Pastor Danny's birthday was a few week ago and today we are having a surprise birthday party/barbeque at the church. I had forgotten alla bout it so I don't have anything on hand to take. I will have to stop at the store and get some chips or something. I thought I had the makings for Macaroni Salad or Spanish rice, not so.

Church was great today.  The sermons were on David and Saul and Saul's jealousy.  Great messages.

I was going to mow the grass when I got home but it rained on me on the way home from church so I am doing laundry instead.  Cloudy gloomy day.

I got this in an email today.  Okay, you men go get a cup of coffee or watch a ballgame...this is for us women!

"Sisters"

A young wife sat on a sofa on a hot humid day, drinking iced tea and visiting with her Mother. As they talked about life, about marriage, about the responsibilities of life and the obligations of adulthood, the mother clinked the ice cubes in her glass thoughtfully and turned a clear, sober glance upon her daughter.

"Don't forget your Sisters," she advised, swirling the tea leaves to the bottom of her glass." They'll be more important as you get older. No matter how much you love your husband, no matter how much you love the children you may have, you are still going to need Sisters. Remember to go places with them now and then; do things with them. And remember that
"Sisters" also means your girlfriends, your daughters, and other women relatives too. You'll need other women. Women always do."

'What a funny piece of advice!' the young woman thought.

'Haven't I just gotten married? Haven't I just joined the
couple-world?

I'm now a married woman, for goodness sake! A grownup. Surely my husband and the family we may start will be all I need to make my life worthwhile!

But she listened to her Mother. She kept contact with her Sisters and made more women friends each year. As the years tumbled by, one after another, she gradually came to understand that her Mom really knew what she was talking about. As time and nature work their changes and their
mysteries upon a woman, Sisters are the mainstays of her life. After more than 50 years of living in this world, here is what I've learned:

* Times passes.
* Life happens.
* Distance separates.
* Children grow up.
* Love waxes and wanes.
* Hearts break.
* Careers end.
* Jobs come and go.
* Parents die.
* Colleagues forget favors.
* Men don't always call when they say they will.

BUT Sisters are there, no matter how much time and how many miles are between you. A Sister is never farther away than needing her can reach.

When you have to walk that lonesome valley, and you have to walk it for yourself, your Sisters will be on the valley's rim, cheering you on, praying for you, pulling for you, intervening on your behalf, and waiting with open arms at the valley's end. Sometimes, they will even break the rules and walk beside you. Or come in and carry you out.

My mother, sister, sister-in-laws, and "girlfriends", bless my life!

The world wouldn't be the same without them, and neither would I.

When we began this adventure called womanhood, we had no idea of the incredible joys or sorrows that lay ahead.

Nor did we know how much we would need each other. Every day, we need each other still.

Hello Everyone!!

We finally arrived at Richard's place late this afternoon after many delays.  But God has protected us and we are here safe.  We arrived at the airport in Toronto shortly after 2:00 a.m and were told that our flight, originally booked for 6:15 was delayed until 9:40.

That time came and went and we were still not on the plane.  Finally we were called to board the plane at 10:20 but we waited to leave for nearly an hour more.  Apparently the bridge that we walked accross to enter the plane would not work and had to be manually removed.  We finally left and arrived in Peurta Plata after 3:00.  The flight was uneventful but we are exhausted having no sleep.

Richard and his friends had cooked us a wonderful meal meant for lunch time but we ate around 5:00.

We are going to have a sleep for an hour or so now.  I will try to keep in touch with you all regularily.  Kathleen will try to go on MSN to chat with Dad and Sharon.

Blessings to you all, and thank you for your prayers.

Love Janice

hey guys hope everyone is well. we found a stray cat and have been taking care of it i will be back as soon as we figure out what we will do with her.

Such interesting posts to reply to....

always good to hear from Larry.  How is your Pat today, Larry?

Janet:  I didn't know Beth had a visit to John planned.  How lovely.  She won't sleep tonight I bet.

Etta Sue:  Your post made me cry.  My one and only sister, hasn'tspoken to me since 1998!  She only lives a 90 minute drive from me.

Pat:  I think its wonderful for Kathleen and Janice to do missionary work together like that.  Are they with a mission group, or did they go out on their own?

Oh - a stray kitty....let us know what happens to her. (sorry - the name slips my mind as to who posted about the stray cat)

"I am too blessed to be stressed".

Papa John

I'll stop in just for a moment tonight.  We have had a good day.  Our church is  starting a new small group ministry and the plans were explained during our class period this morning.  We are planning 27 small groups which will meet three times each month.  I'm looking forward go this program

We are finishing some major expansion in our educational work.  Many new classes are being added.  Our building addition is almost finished.  It is very exciting for us.

I thought I would share with you a little article I wrote which appeared in our bulletin.

LONGER CORDS AND STRONGER STAKES

"Enlarge the place of your tent, stretch your tent curtains wide, do not hold back; lengthen your cords, strengthen your stakes.  Isaiah 54:2

"'In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams.  Acts 2:17

   There are times when God wants his people to think big. The tents of Israel would need enlarging.  The  "curtains" needed to be stretched.  Longer ropes and stronger stakes were required.

   Thinking big calls for the visions and dreams of the young and old alike.  We should be thankful for the dreamers and the visionaries in the church who can look beyond the horizon and prepare not only for present needs but for future growth.  Our leaders have dreamed and have had visions.  They have been thinking big.  We need to get behind this expansion of our facilities with our prayers and with financial support.

Good Evening:

Pat:  Thanks for the devotional.

Papa John: Glad to see you again.

Etta Sue:  Having a blood sister would be the most wonderful thing but I was not blessed with one,  I do have a brother but it is not the same and as for the sisters in love even they do not exist.  I do have a most wonderful daughter and granddaughter.  Speaking of the granddaughters coming to live mine has spent a lot of time with us and it has been the most wonderful joy in my life.

Judy M:   Our Church also was Calvary Baptist- since they were relocating it was voted to change the name to Nashville Road Community Church again for various reasons, the attendance has greatly increased but also they have been confronted with problems related to deleting the word Baptist.

Pat:  The Zucchini Relish Recipe that I eventually used is a long one, do you still want that I post it?  I do think you could use a regular hot dog relish that uses cucumbers and just substitute the Zucchini both of them are similar but the flavor is slightly different.

To-day Mel & I went to the Nashville Road Community Church, The message was good but as the close of the service Mel made the comment that it will be a very long time before he will be back  - the music was much much too loud and also there was another issue which is best left unsaid.     I do think that although the drive is longer we could very well join Sue at her church.

Mel has left a few minutes ago to put some of that very expensive gas in our veh.

For some reason, Ruth Ann Bice can't get into CP tonight so this is what she was going to post...

From Ruth Ann...

Hi, friends,

We went to Atlanta. Enjoyed a wonderful visit with son and family. And, as usual, baby Georgia was a real delight.

We only got to visit with big sister Kassie for a short time, because this was her weekend with her father. She was so cute on Friday morning, though, as her mother was trying to get her out the door to school, she kept dashing back into the kitchen to show me one more thing, and before she left Friday afternoon, she gave me $1.73 of her own money for a birthday present. At first, I wanted to frame it, but I believe I'll purchase some inexpensive stationery in her favorite color and use it to write her short notes.

When we arrived Thursday evening, mom and both sisters were snuggled together on the couch. Georgia slid down and came right to the recliner where I was sitting and climbed up on my lap for a bit of love.

Then, when Uncle "Yes-wee" came in, she was absolutely delighted. Those two have a great bond of love. They were inseparable remainer of the evening, and all day on Friday and Saturday morning. She had to eat with him, have him put her to sleep, go out when he went to exercise the dogs, etc. And, of course, she was inconsolable when we left. Last thing we saw was her in her Daddy's arms reaching both arms out to the van and crying.

My son who lives with me took old fashioned wooden blocks as her birthday present (yes, she's 2 now!) and I took a toy that helps with big motor control.

The blocks were a great hit. We gave her one toy at a time, with the blocks being first. My goodness, what fun we had. We learned her Daddy has been teaching her numbers and simple sums. At age 24 months she identified most of the numbers up to 10, and when Uncle "Yes-wee" showed her the numbers on the side of the blocks, she was fascinated. Now, they're working with the alphabet, and as she would bring a book to me, she was asking if what she pointed to was an "E", etc.

Then, when the toy I brought her was opened up, it was bedlam fr a while, with squeals, clapped hands, times with both daddy and Uncle Yes-wee would be howling with laughter.

Unfortunately, I had a bad fall upon arrival back at home. I fell straight forward on my face as I stepped onto the porch stoop. My forehead struck the concrete threshhold, the crutches badly bruised both armpits, my right side ribs are so painful breathing deeply is almost impossible and my right foot is sprained. X-rays showed no breaks - just plenty of scrapes and bruises. So, I have much to be grateful for, including my son who has been so kind to me.

Ruth speaking of expensive gas it is 101.9 up here this weekend.

JudyMc Yes I will bring some blueberries down for you how many would you like.  I will reserve them on Thursday when I see Joanne.  You too Pat, how many for you.

The dresses..... lot of work.  Wish there was someone who could come over for 2 or 3 days and I would be finished.  The brides dress is done.  That is a good thing.  One to go and one is at least cut out.

What are you doing with the kitty?  Inquiring minds want to know!!!

Etta Sue I second your dislike of blueberries, they just don't agree with my tummy but John and the girls love them.  So it is for them I prepare them.  That recipe by the way I received from a regular email I get, they tend to be lower sugar and lower fat.  They also tend too be higher in fiber.

Oh dear I just rad the email from Ruth Ann, Pat assure her we are praying.

Well Night Night

Ruth

I'm so very sorry to read of Ruth Ann's fall and (continued) injuries.  I am, most assuredly, praying for her.  Thanks, Pat, for sharing her email.

Etta Sue~You asked about my profile photo -- yes, it's new.  Taken when I was vacationing with my girls.

I enjoyed your post about Sisters ... mine aren't really close, but I have other beautiful women in my life that are very dear to me.  I agree with all the points listed.  Thanks

I called my granddaughter (Jean's oldest) this evening and learned she is expecting a girl ... due December 24.  This will make 3 girls and 5 boys in the great grand group and just the opposite in the grands: 3 boys and 5 girls.  That's eight in each generation, though .... and to think I only had three children!   ???

I have a few more things to do before bedtime, so maybe I'd best get at them .... I'll be back.
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!
