JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

And he said unto him, What is thy name?
Genesis 32:27

When the Angel of the Lord asked Jacob this question, it was not because He didn't know his name. Names in Hebrew have meaning, and Jacob means "deceiver".

Before the Lord would bless him, Jacob had to recognize and confess who he was by nature—a deceiver. From that humble position he would receive a blessing by the grace of God.

The Lord desires the same of each of us. Recognize who and what you are by nature, and confess it to Him.

He resists the proud but gives grace to the humble.
—Carl Knott

Guilty and chained I helpless lay,
A willing slave, to sin a prey;
The Saviour saw my lost estate,
And came my soul to liberate.

Karma and Nards ~ I am praying for your appointment with Kristi today.  I am praying that God shows the doctors what to do for whatever is causing Kristi's problem.

Larry ~ I have progressive lenses also and I wouldn't go without them.  So much more useful than the bi or tri-focals.  I am sure the dentist would be glad to give me two crowns, as well as whitening, perhaps a full mouth restoration and straightening the teeth with no cavities.  If that is what I wanted he would be wringing his hands with glee.  Moola for him!

Papa John ~ Glad you had a great nap.  I have found that when I nap, I don't sleep good that night so I try to keep myself awake.  Good to see you this morning.

Nita ~ Your little prayer chapel sounds delightful.  Very nice for the different denominations to have something like that.  Very nice indeed.

Marilyn ~ Today was trash day for me.  It is so muggy and humid out that I was sweating profusely by the time I got back in the house from taking the trash.  I started my washer and hung out a load of clothes.  Again, humid.  It is really overcast today but the sun will burn it off by. say 10 a.m.

JudyB ~ I applaud you for taking on such a task of the bride and bridesmaid dresses.  You sure sound like my Mom in her day.  I remember once she made a brides gown in two days and it was a material that Mom's sewing machine wouldn't sew.  Velvet I think.  White velvet.  So Mom did the whole gown by hand sewing it.  And there was 7 yards gathered into the V waist and 11 yards to hem!  Needless to say, Mom didn't get much sleep those two days.  And if I remember, not much money either.  As for crowns, I was told when a crown is put on a tooth you will never have any more problems.  Not so.  I had a crown removed, then a root canal and another crown on the same tooth.  Thank God, I have no cavities in my front teeth...just the back teeth.

Judy Mc ~ Good morning.  Always good to see you posting.

Ruth ~ The receptionist at the dentist office said, 'Your insurance only covers around 40% so you will have to pay $500+ for this crown.  Your insurance isn't very good.'  The point is, they charge too much!  There is no regulations on dental costs here so they can charge whatever they wish.  I did find out that he has another office that is closer to me but he charges more for the same services there.  See what I mean?

Al ~ What an ordeal you and your pastor had trying to coordinate with the couple down south.  Who would have thought that someone would break into an RV and steal the purse.  I am assuming they did break in and that it wasn't unlocked.  Let us know how things come out.

Ruth Ann ~ You are like the Energizer Bunny....you just keep on going.  My hips have been bothering me lately and I don't even want to go to the grocery let alone go work all day.  But you just keep in going.

Pat ~ I think you need a day of rest.  I know that is sometimes hard to do when you see so much needs to be done.  Perhaps wait until the two granddaughters get there...they can do for you.

I have tried to contact my urology billing office for three days now.  You seem to never be able to talk to a human...only leave a Voice Mail.  And she called me back yesterday afternoon even though I told her I would not be home yesterday afternoon.  So I am staying in today to see if she can explain this bill to me.

Papa John

Good morning Pat.  Thanks for the good thoughts this morning.

Etta Sue, taking a nap in the afternoon doesn't seem to bother my sleep at night.  I just get sleepy and go to sleep in my recliner.  Usually I will sleep for an hour if nothing disturbs me.  I hate it when the phone rings and I am fast asleep.  I have to think for a minute to realize where I am

Psalm 127:1-5  Unless the LORD builds the house, its builders labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchmen stand guard in vain. In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat-- for he grants sleep to those he loves.  Sons are a heritage from the LORD, children a reward from him.  Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are sons born in one's youth.  Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. They will not be put to shame when they contend with their enemies in the gate.
(NIV)

Papa John          <;D)))><<
Eph 2:8-9  For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-- and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-- not by works, so that no one can boast.(NIV)

Good Morning Etta sue and Papa John good to see you both here this morning. I was here earlier  but decided to wait until someone else had posted before I did.

Pat you are  doing toomuch again. Thanks for the devotional and please stop doing so much we don't want you to be down with all that pain again. Take it easy Sister.

Good Morning and Welcome to our new folks!

Thanks for the kudos.  I'll try to slow down a bit.  My grandson is coming to stay on Thursday night for a couple of days and this time, he wants for sure to learn how to make potato bread so that's on the agenda!

Papa John -- Thank you for that word    My husband and I love to stay up late and sleep in late.....we are on Pacific coast time but living in Central time Iguess.  Many times we get phone calls at 9 am that wake us up and we get ridiculed for being lazy......we get the same 8 hours any one else gets, we just shift ours later than most.....I have always been a late night person - never a morning song-bird......so your word that the Lord grants sleep to those he loves ---- thank you!  I can receive my gift of sleep any time I want----as long as my lifestyle permits - right?  And naps are great once in a while too....we call them siestas here!

Pat - I would like to learn how to make potato bread too...do you have the recipe or is it one of those things where you have to be there.....demonstration type recipes?

Hi everyone, I spend probably an hour writing a long posting on my desktop and just at the point I was ready to hit the post button my computer decided to reboot itself.  There is a problem in Windows apparently that causes this at unexpected times.  It had run fine for probably 3 days.  This has been a problem for quite awhile.  So I decided to write a shorter message using my laptop as it doesn't reboot by itself.

Joy, It is good that both you and your husband run on the same clock.  My wife and I are different in that I am a morning person and she is a night person.  However, it really hasn't been a problem these 43 years we have been married.

Papa John, I have no problem taking a long nap and then going to bed at regular time and I very seldom have any difficulty in sleeping.

I am thinking and praying today for Beth, Janet and her friend as they travel and also of Nards and Karmat as they have their daughter checked out by the specialist.

Pat, that is a very pertinent devotional today.  Thanks.  I am sure you will be a good instructor for your grandson on making the bread.

Don't think I had said anything important in my lost message but had addressed everyone posting since my last post.  I just don't have the energy to try to go back and recreate it.  Guess I had better start writing using a text editor that can recover if the desktop crashes.  Right now I can't get it to even logon to the Internet.  These computers can be so frustrating when they don't work properly.

Hope everyone has a nice day.  Time for my nap.

Janet

Hello!  I am back home again, tired and sleepy, but home!  Pat was such a blessing yesterday and today.  She did most of the lifting of the wheelchair, and pushing Beth in it, too---plus, she is wonderful company.  I thank God for sending her into my life.  Beth and I both really enjoyed her.  We had all the time we wanted yesterday in Dodge.  We ate at a Chinese buffet; went to Hobby Lobby and browsed as long as we wanted; went to Dollar Tree; finally late in the afternoon when we weren't hungry yet, we decided to go to a movie!  So we saw The March of the Penguins, which is a National Geographic documentary, very interesting.  Then we had a nice salad for supper at Montana Mike's.  (Before we did all of that, I did go remove that alarm system!  :))

We were up at 4 AM, out to the airport---waited until we saw them carry Beth aboard the plane and it took off, then we returned to the motel and put on our makeup, went over and had a nice breakfast; went to Wal-Mart to look for a blouse, then came home.  On the way, we admired the fields of beautiful sunflowers and stopped to take photos (watch your email, Pat!).  Now you know "the rest of the story!"

Beth is very weak, but in good spirits.  I appreciate the thoughts and prayers for her.  After we got back to the motel, I had a good cry because of seeing how much she is declining; then dried my tears and once more put her into God's loving hands.  Only He knows her future---or any of ours.

Karma, prayers go up for little Kristi today.  And I so enjoy the stories of Travis and Kristi---such little dolls!

Joy, I wanted to comment about the Mantas.  We had the privilege of diving with the mantas in Yap a few years ago; and they are so----beautiful (spooky at first), so graceful, so BIG, so fast, so silent!  They came "flying" in right above our heads, and it was an experience I will never, ever forget!  So I know how privileged you are to be able to visit them.  Thanks for reminding me of that awesome adventure!

JudyB, good going on the dresses!  You deserve a medal!

Judy Mc. Beth will be gone until Oct. 5---seven weeks!  I hope her strength holds out; but then again, she will do as well or better there than at home.

I'd better go before this turns into a book!  I need a little nap too, so I won't be so sleepy tonight in church.
My book Rising Above available at JanetDamon.com

JudyB

:o  Well here I am again keeping you all up to date on the dresses.   The bridesmaids are done.

I have had to make a pattern for the maid of honour, as the pattern I was given was for a size 10 and she has a build like my cousin in Toronto.  Soooo The pattern is done, and I am now into cutting the material.  Silly lady who went to get the material (not the bride) didn't get enough!!!!  So now after a small break I will see what I can do.

The last time I sewed a bridal ensemble Heather helped me.  She was a God send then.  Thanks Heather.   Melaura is trying to help but with her limited knowledge it is hard for her to know what comes next.

Etta Sue I can relate.  I routinely sew the zippers in by hand, but have never tried to do the entire thing by hand.  Too much stress even thinking of that.

Janet enjoy the time Beth is away.  God is with her and is keeping her in the palm of his hand.

Papa John perhaps you can nap for me?

Well Will be back when I am done.  I think John will be home tonight and He needs me to pick him up.  I hope he brings the truck home.

Bye for now

Judy

Oh, my.  Such busyness. (business?)  Judy, you are a marvel.  I can't sew more than a hem or patch.

Pat, today's devotional deserves much meditation.  God sees us as we are, but being honest enough to come into His presence confessing our "name" and our need brings the blessing of His creating in us what He wants us to be.  What love He has for us.  I am always amazed and broken by His love for me.

I, too, love napping in my recliner.  When my back was giving me problems, I was sleeping overnight in the recliner, and slept very well.  I had no pain there, and it was great.  It's when I am serious about sleep, like going to bed at night, that I have a hard time sleeping at times.  If I sit in my recliner with a book, and sort of sneak up on sleep, I do it so well. :)

I took Ty to the groomer this morning.  He didn't want to be there and hasn't been away from Rocko, left all alone at the groomers.  That made me about cry.  Then I came home to find Rocko crying and wanting his brother.  I went outdoors with him to calm him, and it made it worse.  He'd run around the yard like crazy, then stop and look toward the garage, then running into the garage and back out looking so confused.  He did that about 4 times. He just knew his brother should come out of hiding to play their favorite game.  I'm a softy when it comes to these "kids" and I felt their pain.  Believe me.  I don't know how Ty is doing now, but Rocko has settled, as flat as his little body can be, on the floor by my feet.  He sighs occasionally but is resigned.  I can't wait to get the call to go get Ty.

enuff rambling.  Blessings to you all.  nita

Hello all!  Glad to see that everyone is up and about and getting stuff done. :)

Janet, glad to hear that Beth got off safely.  I hope this trip is what she needs for a "pickmeup!"

The doctor's appointment went okay.  We were there for about 2 hours, mostly talking and trying to give the doctor a good idea of what has been going on, what might be causing it, and what treatments may be possible.

The next step is to give Kristi these little rings in lunch tomorrow.  They look kinda like this: o.  24 of them.  Theory is -- If they do not show up on an xray next week, they will have "passed" or if things are normal, they will be at the end of the colon.  If the large intestine isn't "moving" things they way it should, they will be scattered throughout the large intestine.  Lovely, huh?

So, next Tuesday morning, she gets to have an xray. :(

Gotta get back to work now!

have a great evening, yall!

Oh, Joy!  I'd love to show you how to make Potato Bread or "Fadge" as they call it in Ireland.  But it really is a show and tell sort of thing as even the potatoes have to be potatoes that can be mashed and go "floury" and not "pasty" if you know what I mean.  And you don't measure anything.  LOL

I'll see about some photos.  I have photos of the Ulster Wheaten Bread process but just haven't had time to put them up but I'll have time soon I'm sure.

MEETINGS!!!  Oh, I'm getting tired of meetings!  I'm just in the door from yet another one.  It was a dinner meeting and it went over time.  Supposed to be over at 9 pm and I'm just in the door now.

It's garbage night too and I have to start putting that out at the curb.

Can you tell that I'm tired?  I'm so tired.

I'll be back.

Etta Sue, it was funny tonight at this meeting...  They went around the table asking all the representatives to introduce themselves and then give what the highlight of their summer was!  When they came to me I said, "Pat Scott, from Grange Hill East Neighbourhood Group and the highlight of my summer was one new water cooler that was defective leaking into my basement ruining the ceiling and causing damage and then one fridge that died thawing all the contents of the freezer into the concrete floor!"

LOL

And it "ain't" over yet!

I don't have a meeting tomorrow though.  So I'm going to cut the lawn.

Also have to do more sorting of "stuff".  At least I got a home for all the "stuff" I had from Ian (high chair, baby bouncer, snuggly, changing table, etc. etc.)  One of the ladies in my group (this meeting tonight) has a 10 month old and is 3 months pregnant so she's taking it all and I'm so happy to get it out of the house.

Soon, I'll have a day off!  I'm sure I will!  HAHAHA!  Just not sure when yet.

Who said retirement was a time of just sitting by watching the world happen?

Papa John, I'm so happy that you enjoyed the devotional today.  I also can't tell you how very happy I am to see your green posts again.  Oh, how we've missed them.

I know that our Mieka looks in and reads every so often and she'll be so happy.  She asked where you were all the time.  What great verses you left for all of us too!  Unless the Lord builds a house, they labour in vain who build it.  What a thought!

Love you,

Ohhhh, Janet!   My email is so lovely!  What a kind thing for you to do!  Thanks so much!  My heart goes out to you being Beth's Mum...what a difficult thing to do to watch her take off in that condition.  I'll be praying for you continually, Janet as I have been.  Thanks for the chat today.

Hi Larry...   I'm also a "night person" like Pat!

Karmat, poor Kristi.   I'm so sorry that she's going through this as well.  I do pray that the doctors come up with some answers for you.

Where's Al today?   Did he post and I just missed it?

Dear Nita, "Isn't the love of Jesus, something wonderful?"  I love that little chorus from days gone by.

Isn't the Love of Jesus Something Wonderful?

Author:  John W. Peterson, b. 1921
Musician:  John W. Peterson, b. 1921

There will never be a sweeter story,
Story of the Saviour's love divine,
Love that brought Him from the realms of glory
Just to save a sinful soul like mine.

Refrain:
Isn't the love of Jesus something wonderful,
Wonderful, wonderful!
O isn't the love of Jesus something wonderful!
Wonderful it is to me.

Boundless as the universe around me,
Reaching to the farthest soul away—
Saving, keeping love it was that found me;
That is why my heart can truly say:

Love beyond our human comprehending,
Love of God in Christ— how can it be?
This will be my theme and never ending,
Great, redeeming love of Calvary.

Today was our father's birthday.  August 17 hasn't been the same since he went home to glory.

I thought of him today as I was picking a few raspberries.  He loved his raspberry canes and my spy apple tree that he planted and never saw with apples, is so loaded that some of the limbs are touching the ground and I've propped them up with wood.

Dad and I were very close and I miss him greatly.  He would have been 96 years old today.
