JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

And the Lord said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother?
Genesis 4:9

This question is very similar to the one the Lord asked Cain's father in the previous chapter (see 3:9).

Just as God knew exactly where Adam and Eve were, He likewise knew where Abel was.

What appears to be a question of His wrath was actually a probing of His grace. God knew the answer; He simply wanted Cain to take sides with God—and against himself—to confess that he had done wrong.

An admission of guilt is the first step towards reconciliation.

Will you agree with God today and be forgiven?
—Craig Funston

1.  Our sins were born by Jesus,
  The holy Lamb of God;
He took them all, and freed us
  From that condemning load.
Our guilt was borne by Jesus,
  Who washed the crimson stains
White in His blood most precious,
  Till not a spot remains.

2.  Our wants are known to Jesus;
  All fulness dwells in Him:
      He healeth all diseases
  Who did our souls redeem.
We tell our griefs to Jesus,
  Our burdens and our cares
      He from them all released,
  Who all our sorrow shares.

3.  We love the name of Jesus,
  The Christ of God, the Lord;
      Like fragrance on the breezes
  His name is spread abroad.
We long to be with Jesus,
  With all the ransomed throng,
To sing for aye His praises,
  The one eternal song.

An interesting devotional, Pat.  I wonder how many problems could be resolved if only people were willing to admit guilt and take responsibility for their actions.  Watched a little bit of Larry King tonight and saw the result of that very thing....a young, brilliant man who became addicted to gambling.  Felt such a darkness from the program...then turned to Vision TV and the Gaither Hour was on.  Felt such a feeling of relief and a wonderful peace.

Sometimes the world and all the problems become a bit much, but God does tell us how to deal with that sort of thing.

Proverbs 24:19-20

Do not get overly upset with evildoers.
Do not envy wicked people,
because an evil person has no future,
and the lamps of wicked people will be snuffed out.

I thought a lot about the problems of Postsecondary Education that is facing Amanda and so many of her friends.  So decided to send of an email to an investigative reporter at one of the city papers, telling her about what is going on lately and asking if she might do a story about the problem.  She sent back a nice reply, stating that she is now doing non-profit work helping sex workers and writing only an opinion column.  Felt the story is something that she would have done and gave me the name of another reporter to contact.  So I am going to follow thro' and hope that this education situation can be brought to the attention of parents and students.  It is not being told to the students who are graduating nor are parents informed.  So many kids are falling thro' the cracks and ending on the streets or in dead end jobs due to having to simply give up on their dreams and hopes.  This is simply not right!!   Would greatly appreciate a prayer that the paper will think it a worthy subject to pursue.

Misty decided to stay out tonight and ate all of the food put out to feed Billy Bob.  He came crying for his dinner.  So put out another bowl of food.  Drat that Misty.  It is a worry when she won't come in at night.  To many big animals around.  A mother always worries when the kids stay out :-\

Late and tired, so pleasant evening/day and God Bless.

Hi Everyone...

Not sure if you saw the news about Southern Ontario's weather on CNN last evening but that's what I was in yesterday.  Floods and hail and rain and at 3 pm or 4 it was almost night-looking outside.  My nice big sunflowers, many of them are flattened.  All of the ivy on my house has been blown off.  It's awful looking.

Oh well...

Thanks for your comments, Liz.  Having no children at home right now and none of my grandchildren are just at the spot to try to get into University, I've not been aware of any of these problems.

I have my grandson here today and I must get him to help me move some shelves so that the new fridge can get into the house on the 23rd.

I hope you are all having a good day.

Let's keep Angela in our prayers.  She lost her father on Wed. night after only 5 weeks with esophagus cancer.  So sad.  Here's her original prayer request

Deepest Sympathy, Angela

Have a good time at the BBQ, Marilyn.  I think I'd like to go to a BBQ.  Would save me cooking.

I was just out to my car and I have two chips in my front window from the hail yesterday!

Now, who's taking photographs?  I took some of a wasp.   It was so calm and quiet.  Maybe there was something wrong with it but it then flew away.

My, everyone must be out shopping or playing with the kids or keeping cool or busy with outside work.  They sure aren't on the computer!!

Me?  Well, I hung a load of clothes on the line and then mowed the yard.  Just as I was almost done the sky got dark and about 6 drops of rain fell on the mower.  I shut it off and got my clothes off the line.  I went back outside and the sun was shining.  The clouds moved to the south and the sky was rumbling but no more rain.  Then it was shower and a head washing.  I fixed some lunch and then got online.  That's it for me.

Time to go get the mail from the mailbox.

I forgot to mention that TBear has been scarce because a storm zapped her internet connection.  She is wireless and the company is sending new parts...she should be back in action soon.  Got a letter earlier this week and a phone call today.

She asked me to ask for prayer for her father, Joe, in New Hampshire.  He was taken to the hospital last night.

Ruth Ann Bice

It's been good to read today's NEM, and the previous one. Hopefully I'll get the others read soon, for I don't want to miss out on the news.

Love to all,

Love your graphics, Etta Sue!  Thanks so much for brightening up the place with them.  I really mean that.  Thanks also for telling us about TBear.  That's too bad.

Hi Ruth Ann!  We love you sweetie.

Hi all!  I had a workshop type thing in Knoxville, TN to attend.  Bernard took Kristi to his mom's, then took Travis to play a round of golf.  They should be home any minute.

I'm just running through, so I'll say hi, "HI!!"" and keep running for now!

I am back from the BBQ and brought home enough food to feed me for two days. Now I am off to the shower and to worsh (wash in my native tongue) my hair.

Hi everyone.  I have my work cut out for me over the next couple of days.  I have been having intermittent problems with my desktgop computer suddenly deciding to reboot itself.  So I decided it was time to take some drastic actions and I decided to reformat my hard disk and start fresh. That means I lose all the programs I have installed (and there are a lot).  Fortunately I have the laptop on the Internet so am not out-of-business. With the highspeed cable connection it doesn't take long to download programs available on the Internet and I have lots of software. I have all my personal files backed up on another hard drive so won't lose any of those.   Windows XP loaded ok after a stall and having to turn off the power.  When it came back on it restarted the installation and got past the 34 minute mark where it had stalled.  It now has 14 minutes left as is registering the components.  My first efforts will be to be sure I have Service Pack 2 installed and virus protection and then will get online.  Sure don't want to corrupt what I have done.  Then I will begin the process of restoring the programs.  I have all my personal files stored off on a second hard drive I have in the computer so it is only the programs that are lost.

I am certainly sorry to read of the passing of Angela's father.  I certainly extend my condolences as know it is hard to lose your father.

Pat, that was a terrible storm in your area yesterday and to be caught on the road.  Hopefully your grandson can be a big help to you while he is there.  Just glad you didn't have damage to your house in the storm.  Hope the fever is gone and that you are feeling better now.

Marilyn, that bar-b-que sounds good.  Glad you had a good time and hope your headache is gone.

Karmat, hope you learned a lot at your seminar.

Hi Ruth Ann.  Hope you are not feeling as tired today.

Etta Sue, thanks for telling us why we haven't heard from Tbear for awhile.  Hope the problems can be fixed quickly.  Sounds like you had a great day yesterday with Ivalou.  Sort of exhausted me to read of all you did.  Glad you had such a good time.

Papa John, your temperatures in Nashville exceeded ours by several degrees.  It felt like 100 yesterday and again today.  Just staying in where it is nice and cool.

Carol, not good to be walking in a storm with lightning.  Glad your street is open again.

Ruth, we had a manager for one of the photo stores speak to us last year at our Computer User Group and he explained about the quality of ink and paper that supposedly made them last longer.  With the cost of ink for home printers, it probably is as economical to have then printed that way.

Well, my Windows XP installation is finished so now the fun begins.  Installing Service Pack 2 as we speak.

Larry

Al Moak

Etta Sue - it seems to me there must be mo and mo and mo of the mowing - yer always out there mowing.

Karmat - please ask Bernard if Travis scored lower than he did!

Glad you got everything back on the main computer hard disk, Larry.  Also glad you have a spare disk on which to store things.

We have our church "Kettlefest" this evening, so I'll be going to that in a few minutes.

JudyB

Well I have just read all the posts for the last two days,  Everyonr has been busy.

Pat you need to take care of yourself.  Hope you get on top of that fever.

Now I am going to spend time with the family and will be back tomorrow.

Love to all

Judy

Papa John

Well, I'm going to check in since the question seems to be where is everyone.

We went tonight to an event sponsored by St. Thomas Hospital here.  It was for survivors, people whose lives were saved in the hospital.  I told about my close call with death two years ago when I had stents for my heart, an operation for colon cancer, a blood clot which caused cardiac arrest and three weeks in the hospital which ended up with pneumonia.  We all got t-shirts with the word survivor on them.

I thought about how thankful to God we should be for God's help in surviving each day God gives us life.

Col 3:15-17
15   Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.
16   Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.

17   And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.  (NIV)

Papa John          <;D)))><<

Eph 2:8-9  For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-- and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-- not by works, so that no one can boast.(NIV)

Papa John, I'll NEVER forget those days when we were all praying for you as you lay in that hospital room.  I'm so thankful to the Lord that His timing is perfect and He chose to let your family (and us) have you for a little while longer.

Saved By the Blood
(Click to hear music)

"By His own blood He entered in once into the holy place,
having obtained eternal redemption for us."
Hebrews 9:12

Words: S. J. Henderson, 1902.

Music: Daniel B. Towner

Saved by the blood of the Crucified One!
Now ransomed from sin and a new work begun,
Sing praise to the Father and praise to the Son,
Saved by the blood of the Crucified One!

Refrain

Glory, I'm saved! Glory, I'm saved!
My sins are all pardoned, my guilt is all gone!
Glory, I'm saved! Glory, I'm saved!
I am saved by the blood of the Crucified One!

Saved by the blood of the Crucified One!
The angels rejoicing because it is done;
A child of the Father, joint heir with the Son,
Saved by the blood of the Crucified One!

Refrain

Saved by the blood of the Crucified One!
The Father He spake, and His will it was done;
Great price of my pardon, His own precious Son;
Saved by the blood of the Crucified One!

Refrain

Saved by the blood of the Crucified One!
All hail to the Father, all hail to the Son,
All hail to the Spirit, the great Three in One!
Saved by the blood of the Crucified One!

Refrain

Well, I'm on my way to the basement to see if James and I can move this fridge so that I can clean the floor under it for when the new fridge comes on Tues.

I got a chest of drawers moved so that it will be easier for a lady to come and get it for her new baby.  Then with the cable down into the basement room, I'm hoping that Jen's hubby, Luke, will come and move my computer and hitch it all up for me and the printers, etc.

Lots of work!
