JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

"The greatest single distinguishing feature of the omnipotence of God is
that our imagination gets lost when thinking about it."
Blaise Pascal

Morning Devotional...

The judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.
Psalm 19:9

Is it true, that the judgments of the Lord are true and completely righteous?

What about the time David, when you committed murder and adultery? Did not God's law require your death? Did God really judge righteously when He allowed you to live?

But David could answer that indeed God is righteous. For God has laid all our iniquities on the Lord Jesus, even the ones like David's from ancient history which He had passed over in anticipation of Christ's death.

The Lord Jesus has given Himself for the sins of the whole world.

Alas! and did my Saviour bleed
(Click title to hear music)

Alas! and did my Saviour bleed,
and did my Sovereign die?
Would He devote that sacred head
for such a worm as I?

Was it for crimes that I had done
He groaned upon the tree?
Amazing pity! grace unknown!
and love beyond degree!

Well might the sun in darkness hide,
and shut His glories in,
When Christ, the Mighty maker, died
for man, the creature's sins.

Thy body slain, sweet Jesus, Thine -
and bathed in its own blood -
While the firm mark of Wrath Divine
His soul in anguish stood.

Thus might I hide my blushing face
while his dear Cross appears;
Dissolved my heart in thankfulness,
and melt mine eyes to tears.

But drops of grief can ne'er repay
the debt of love I woe;
Here, Lord, I give myself away-
'til all that I can do.

In November, 1850, thirty year old Fanny Crosby had been attending numerous revival meeting and had answered the altar call, hoping to find peace for her soul.

But on the 20th of the month, the audience began to sing "Alas! and Did My Savior Bleed," a hymn written by Isaac Watts in 1707. It was when they sang the words, "Here, Lord I give myself away - 'tis all that I can do," that Fanny realized that all she needed was to yield herself. She said: "I surrendered myself to the Saviour, and my very soul flooded with celestial light. I sprang to my feet, shouting 'Hallelujah.'"

Isaac Watts said of his hymn writing, "I have made no pretence to be a poet. But to the Lamb that was slain, and now lives, I have addressed many a song, to be sung by the penitent and believing heart."

I've been watching the news all day again.

Karmat,  I can relate to the tilt toward depression that you mentioned.  I have to keep praying all the time.  And also, as you said, if ever there was a reason to give, it's now.  I did choose The Red Cross.  I know Samaritan's Purse is heading to Alabama now.  Before I decided where to give, I looked at their website to see what they were doing now.  I have given to Samaritan's Purse before, and know they are a good place to give.  There are many Christian charities involved in helping now, in many ways.  Salvation Army is there too, of course.  Operation Blessing went immediatly.

Last night someone on tv mentioned a website "charitynavigators.org" as a way to check to see how your favorite charity rates.  Samaritan's Purse and Operation Blessing both rate a 4, 5 being the highest.  So does The Red Cross.

I can see the frustration in the faces of the news people on the ground.  I can sure understand.  Can't you?  It would be so hard to see and not have help.  I'm so glad, as you said, Papa John, that the convoys of help headed in today.   It just breaks my heart to watch.......but still I can't stop watching.  It seems like the least I can do. The most being praying, of course.

My daughter, in Phoenix, told me that many college kids will be going to ASU.  I had never thought of colleges being destroyed along with lower grades.

I just had to check in and see what others were saying.  Have a blessed tomorrow.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  I got very busy yesterday and realized after going to bed last evening that I had not visited here or posted.  I have another very busy day so am not going to take a lot of time writing this morning.

We had an e-mail last evening cautioning that many crooks are setting up fake websites on the Internet to steal money or your information if you click on their links.  It is incumbunt on all of us to be sure our help goes to legitmate sources.  During 9/11 our church had a fund for the victims.  However, I will not give that way again as our General Assembly made the terrible decision that they had to have a portion of the money so not all of the specific contributions went to the victims as had been promoted.

Janet, sure glad to see you have gotten your new computer.  You shouldn't have any problems now for awhile.

I was able to get it scheduled yesterday to have the implantable cardioverter defribulator placed in my chest.  It will be done on the 13th and I may not even need to stay overnight but probably will.  I was told I would be up and around the next day.  I am looking forward to doing this.

Good to see everyone posting.  Hopefully in a few days I will have more time and can write more in response to individual postings.

Al Moak

Larry - I sure pray that device will be good for you.

There are undoubtedly many good agencies who will help the best they can in the present crisis.  I tend to think that the truly Christian ones would try the hardest and be the most honest.  May our God use it all to His glory!

Gotta go in just a little while to our monthly men's prayer breakfast.

Good Morning I have just watched the Presidents speech in the Rose Garden.

Thanks Pat for devotional and the song.

I woke up very early this morning with a slight headache enough not to let me go back to sleep. However I didn't get up and take a pain pill. It has gone now and I think it was the coffee that helped. I don't want to take those pills unless I have to take them. They are a pretty strong pill and one has to be very careful with them.

That's all for now folks'

Good Morning Everyone!

Yes, I have the TV on watching the evacuation taking place!  It's a massive task.

Marilyn, remind me again when you move?

Hi Al...

Larry, that will be a great day when you get this device put in to help your dear heart.  My thoughts and prayers are going heavenward for you.

Nita, it's so difficult to know which to donate to but most of all, as Al and Larry have cautioned us, it must be a reputable organization.  BUT...We can all pray!

A mother complained to her doctor about her daughters strange eating habits.

"All day long she lies in bed and eats yeast and car wax. What will happen to her?"

Eventually" said the Doctor, "she will rise and shine!"

I, too, get depressed from listening and watching the news.  But can't turn it off.  Sometimes I even get furious as to what is said and not done.  I feel that when these people see how immense this catastophy is, they will understand why.  Right now they are only thinking of themselves.  BUT if I were in their situation, I would probably be yelling just as loud.  I feel so sorry for all these people.  Last night there was a plane-load of New Orlean people landed in Indianapolis.  State parks are opening there cabins and housing units to the evacuees.  I was happy to see huge helicopters going to New Orleans that will hold 40 or more people to get them out of there.  I can only imagine how water, food, a bath and a phone call will mean to all of these people once they are out.

Janet, welcome back to the world of computing!!  Woo hoo!

I am praying that everyone has a God-blessed holiday weekend.

As the Deer Panteth for the Water
(Click to hear music)

Written by Martin Nystrom

Psalm 42:1
"As the hart panteth after the water brooks,
so panteth my soul after thee, O God."

As the deer panteth for the water,
So my soul longs after you.
You alone are my hearts desire,
And I long to worship You.

Chorus
You alone are my strength, my shield;
To You alone may my spirit yield.
You alone are my hearts desire,
and I long to worship You.

I want you more than gold or silver,
Only You can satisfy.
You alone are the real joy giver
And the apple of my eye.

Chorus
You alone are my strength, my shield;
To You alone may my spirit yield.
You alone are my hearts desire,
and I long to worship You.

You're my friend and You're my brother,
Even though you are a King.
I love You more than any other
So much more than anything.

Chorus
You alone are my strength, my shield;
To You alone may my spirit yield.
You alone are my hearts desire,
and I long to worship You.

This has been a busy day for everyone watching the problems in the soouthh and their own chores.

We got our water line buried and the carpet in one of the bedrooms lifted.  It was so very old that it was disgusting.

We are now goiong back to the TV to get more updates.

Have a good day everyone, and thank God for all who were spared.

Love Judy

Our evening news has been preepted by the Nascar races.

Thanks Pat for As The deer.

I have been reading a lot on SN today in alternative medicine, I had like 349 posts to read and it took most of the day.  I've had my supper and now here I am again.

I took a bad fall a little while ago and have been sitting with the ice pack on my right knee. I slipped on some water on the kitchen floor and went down on that knee again. It seems that it is always the right knee. The dogs have a water dish in the kitchen and they drip at times. I think I'd better call the prayer chain and get myself on there.
