JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Matthew Henry

Morning Devotional...

He leadeth me.

Psalm 23:2-3

What a marvellous relationship between these two pronouns!

"He" is the Lord. "Me" refers to those of us who are His sheep.

The distance between the Good Shepherd in glory and His sheep in the world appears infinite, but there is a little word that serves as a bridge—leadeth. In the East the shepherd goes before the flock to discover the best pastures and the best way to them.

So also the Lord Jesus stays before the soul that trusts in Him and loves Him.

Our part is to reduce as much as possible the space between ourselves and Him, and follow His steps as closely as possible.
—Carl Knott

He Leadeth Me, O Blessed Thought!
(Click to hear music)

Author: Joseph H. Gilmore, 1834-1918
Musician: William B. Bradbury, 1816-1868

He leadeth me, O blessed thought!
O words with heavenly comfort fraught!
Whate'er I do, where?er I be
Still 'tis God's hand that leadeth me.

Refrain
He leadeth me, He leadeth me,
By His own hand He leadeth me;
His faithful follower I would be,
For by His hand He leadeth me.

Sometimes mid scenes of deepest gloom,
Sometimes where Eden?s bowers bloom,
By waters still, over troubled sea,
Still 'tis His hand that leadeth me.

Refrain

Lord, I would place my hand in Thine,
Nor ever murmur nor repine;
Content, whatever lot I see,
Since 'tis my God that leadeth me.

Refrain

And when my task on earth is done,
When by Thy grace the victory's won,
E'en death's cold wave I will not flee,
Since God through Jordan leadeth me.

Refrain

Well, here we are at another new day, away out here in the California boondocks.  Today, we're taking our pseudodaughter to a place called Oriental Buffet, which is the very nicest Chinese buffet place that I know of.  Sorry, Mieka, but we're eating Chinese!

It's definitely Fall, but it's not at all cold yet here.  Everybody says we're going to have a long, hard winter, but I'll believe it when I see it.  Blessings, y'all.

Thanks for the devotional, Pat.  I love that hymn.  Now I'll have it being played by the DJ in my mind all day.

Pat

Good Morning Al!

It's already after 10 am here in Ontario and only one post in NEM!

I wonder where all of our over 300 members are!

Here I am, Pat!!

Marilyn ~ My husband was a butcher and worked in a slaughterhouse doing custom butchering.  If he were here he would know exactly where to find Tri Tip after seeing the website that Pat posted.  Probably a new name for a new cut of beef.  At least in the last 14 years.

Right now I am idle but I have to mow around noon today.  Then shower and go with Kitty to see March of the Penguins this afternoon.  Her husband is sick but she is to call me to verify if we are going for sure or not.

Tomorrw I may not be online until evening.  I am going with Judy, classmate, to her doctor appointment.  Then Ivalou and I are taking, Bernice, 94 year old neighbor, to her doctor appointment.    I will be online early but not again until evening.

Good Morning, Thank you Pat for the devotional. I came in last night and read it then again earlier. I am still faithfully watching the after effects of Katrina on TV. It is so hard to draw away from the terrible tragedy these people have gone through. So many sad stories and then again so many good ones of survival. Some is painful to watch.

My friend Willa's little Pomeranian was accidentally run over by her son on Sunday. The son and grand son are heartbroken as is Willa. They had parked the car inside the back yard and I guess Tina had gone to sleep under the car by the wheel.

Tomorrow I am going to the rental office for the new place and pay the deposit on the new place. Tonight when I go to bible study I will go by the house and see how far they are on the work of remodeling.

My the house is quiet now that the girls are back in school.   Melaura needs to be at her bus stop at 7:10 as her bus arrives at 7:15AM.  She is like Pat and I, a night hawk.  What a time she is having turning her system around.  I totally lost track of time this AM and the two younger girls missed the bus.  Amazing how fast time flies when we are talking.

I have been working on a BIG job that has been waiting for school to start.  I am about 1/2 way there and like Janet I am being ruthless in tossing.

There has been a lot of chatter about family and grandkids.  As a child we visited regularly with my brother and his wife and children as we did with Pat.  Murray's and Pat's "in laws were as much part of our family as Grace and Jack were.  There was no discrimination at all, or hard feelings.  We have a good relationship with the fathers of both of Bonnie's boys, and hope this continues. Our attitude being that they will always be part of our lives as they are our grandson's Daddy's. We both back and support the father's, whether we agree or not.  If we disagree we keep it to ourselves. We hope this  helps too teach respect to our grandbabies.  As Pastor Dennis says; "More is caught than is taught."

Marilyn it is sad when that happens.  Our pooches are as much family as our children are, and are much more sensitive to our emotions than the kids!

Etta Sue is the March of the Penguins in the theatres or on video.  I haven't seen it up here in North Bay.

Al we have a restaurant called "Kings Buffet" here in Ontario.  We really enjoy eating there too.

Well have a good day everyone. and God Bless.

Come'on now Al,  Fall doesn't officially begin till Sep 22....so don't be'ah hurrin' things along any faster than they already are.  Ha Ha

We have one maply tree in the neighborhood that turns a pretty red well before any others even start to turn.  It hasn't turned yet.  But when it does it is an early warning signal that winters on its' way.

I'ma enjoyin' this nice weather as long as it lasts.

I love it when the cool snap is in the air.  I love the long days of summertime, but I think I like early fall second best.  Early spring is my favorite season, for a lot of reasons.  Makes me feel like a kid, makes me want a motorcycle, probably reminds me of the springs of childhood when the dirt and dust of summer meant that I could ride my bike and play baseball for hours on end.  Ah, the anticipation.  Building new treehouses, riding a swing for hours, dreaming of the western world portrayed by Louis Lamour, reading the Grit, no school, no school, no school, working in the garden and hating it, riding my uncle's Snapper lawn mower......

But early fall is pretty cool as an adult.  As a kid it meant school was started and little fun was to be had.  :(

Great day to all of you!
I survived open heart surgery.... :)

Kassie walked up our road from the bus and picked several sprigs of elderberries.  She asked for a desert of elderberries...... sooooo... I revamped a recipe of a menonite friend and have in the oven elderberry custard pie.  Oh Pat how dad would have enjoyed it.

Janet

I am way late today---but better late than never, right?  ;D

I went to the eye doc this morning.  I've been having a lot of eye problems.  He didn't make me feel one bit better.  :(  He says I have cataracts; and wants me to check my blood sugar several times a day and let him know about those numbers.  I really do NOT think I have a problem there, as I have it checked pretty often, and have never had a high reading.  But he is trying to figure out why I have such fluctuations in my vision during the day.  I now have an appointment on Oct. 19 for a cataract evaluation with an eye specialist in Garden City.  I'm believing for the best.

I went to visit Mom today, and I am very concerned.  She just wasn't herself at all.  My sister agrees with me, too.  Mom is very lethargic, and just isn't acting right.

Today was our Red Hats meeting, then Pat came and redid my hair color and gave me a haircut.  So I am all ready for our upcoming trip.  ;D

I have always considered my husband's family as my family, too.  And I, too, am suffering the heartbreak of losing contact with some of my grandkids.  It is just so painful, and I don't know what to do to help the situation. I have made every effort I know to make to mend bridges; or find out what the paren's problem may be.  Only silence is my answer............ :'(  But God understands this heartbreak, too, and He is my comfort in this matter.

I must work tomorrow getting stuff ready, marked, and hauled to town for that yard sale Pat and I are having.  Ugh.  Not my favorite thing.

This is church night, so I'd better be getting around soon.  Talk to you all later.

Here I am again, I heard from one of my new neighbors that they are working on my house to day. I will be going by there on my way to church to see what all they have done. It won't be long now and I still have a lot to  do here. Well anyway it seems like a lot.

I see y-all have held the fort down while I was gone.  ::)

I came back to tell you what I forgot before---I have decided on a name for my kitty.  I'm going to call her Dynamite......then Dyna (Dinah) for short.  That seems to me to fit her "purrsonality."   ;)

Marilyn, I know you're excited about your new home, for sure I would be!  Hope the renovation goes really quickly so you can get all settled in before too long.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  Just a brief note before I retire for the night.  I have sort of been under the weather all day as I can't seem to get my chest discomfort to go away.  I am hopeful that a good nights sleep will take care of it.  The discomfort is not severe but the doctor told me that continued pain like this isn't good for my heart.  I have taken two strong pain pills earlier today and then right before supper.  I should be o.k. in the morning and back to normal.

We took our Saturn to the dealer this morning and the area service manager authorized a rental car for a couple of days so they could keep the car and try to figure out what is causing the problem.

Till tomorrow.

Pat

Ohhh, Larry, get well soon.

It will be nice for you to get moved, Marilyn.  Will this be sort of a more permanent move for you?

LARRY, thanks for letting us know so we can pray for you tonight.  We will be hoping for and expecting a better report tomorrow.

Hi, Pat!  Are things slowing down any for you?  They sure aren't for me, not yet, anyway.  (((hugs)))

I am just in the door from church.  I had a busy day, but not as hard work as I've been doing, so I hope my arm won't hurt tonight and I can sleep better.

'Night, all!  8)
