Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice.
Psalm 55:17

The newspaper headline read, "New prayers dedicated."

The article that followed told of recently installed prayer stools affixed to the pews on which parishioners could kneel rather than on the floor of the church.

Instead of the accoutrements of prayer, we need dedicated believers in Christ who are committed to the holy art of the bended knee, disciplined to supplicate the Throne of Grace on behalf of the weary world-wide church.
—Arnot McIntee

I am praying, blessed Saviour,
And my constant prayer shall be,
For a perfect consecration,
That shall make me more like Thee.

Hey!! I'm firstest!!!  ;D

I want to thank all y'all for your concern and prayers.  As Nita said, my car broke down this afternoon and is now resting for the weekend at the garage.  The mechanic won't be able to even look at it until Monday morning. (It's the same thing that happened a few months ago. I'm thankful it didn't happen while my girls and I were driving all over the place in July!) As I told Nita ... I get to stay home for the weekend.  Well...I thought that was true until my friend Rose called and arranged for someone to pick me up for the Bible Study at her house in the morning, and then she will come for me on Sunday so we can sing at the nursing home.

My neighbor came over this evening and said if I needed to go anywhere they'd be happy to take me ... So ... I'm not grounded after all!

Marilyn ~ You asked if the IRS is garnishing my check.  NO ... they tried that once and can't take either my Social Security or my pension checks.  That's my sole income at the moment.  As I told my daughter: I just have to cinch my belt in a couple more notches and practice my juggling act more sincerely.

This is getting to be quite a ride!!  A friend (Rose) said "You really are having to walk on water, aren't you?"  Guess so ... takes faith, that's for sure!   :-\
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Marilyn

Thanks Pat for the devotional today.

Karma I am going to a Mary Kay party on Monday. One of my prayer partners is going back into Mary Kay and is having a party in the church fellowship hall Monday evening.

Another wonderful evening of Revival, service wasn't over until 10 pm. Last night focused on the young people. The message was great, some of that old fashioned  preaching that you are going to hell if you don't chose Jesus kind of preaching. The kind I have been wanting to hear. In fact on the first night I had gone into the Pastors office and we were talking about that kind of preaching, the evangelist  said last night that a sister had come into the office saying she would like to hear some good old fashioned preaching. Y-all know it was me. By the way I got healed the very first night, there has been no pain in my wrist since about 40 minutes into the service on Wednesday night.

Now it get my shower  this morning instead of this evening because I won't be here again tonight.

Good morning, friends, I awakened at a good time, and feel better today than in months.

Larry, I'm thankful that you're feeling better. Papa John, I've had the cataract surgeries, and most definitely the world seems a "brighter place" after the surgeries. Janet, thankful you're getting Beth's place under control for her. And, I hope the trip to the Black Hills is wonderful. I wish I could be there with you!

I have some work on a resume for a friend. I think I'll work on it today and get it sent out for review.

Also, I want to be a "certified female" today and prove it by going to my favorite clothing shop to hunt for bargains!  ;)

It's so good to see all of you posting. I wish i could mention everyone, but don't dare try for fear of leaving someone out.

Y'all have a good day.

Good morning!  It is quite cool here today, sure feels like Fall is almost here!  I believe Indian Summer is my favorite time of the year; and we usually have that in October, sometime after the first frost.

We are eating some sort of strange meals these last two days; trying to use up the perishables in the refrigerator before we leave!  Last night, I ate a huge helping of wilted lettuce salad and three buffalo wings.  ;D

I have most of my packing done, made sure I have the necessary phone numbers in my purse; plenty of batteries and cards for my camera.........let's see..........what else do I need?  Got my meds, a jacket, oh yeah!  MONEY!  I need money!!  ;D  Better get some of that in my purse, too!  ;)

Ruth Ann, I hope you find something that's just perfect, in your size, and on sale at 70% off!  ;D

I need to do some clearing out of emails.  See you later!

I just received this, and thought it worth your time to read it:

President George W. Bush has made so many trips to the Gulf Coast since hurricane Katrina that I have lost count. The area affected by the storm was greater in area than the entire United Kingdom and everyone in America, particularly Democrats, are just shocked that everything cannot be brought back to normal in a matter of days. Last night he addressed the nation and set forth a conservative agenda to rebuild the area that included enterprise zones and job training. He mentioned "generational" poverty caused by racism. The "generational" poverty in New Orleans was actually caused by the welfare system created by Lyndon Johnson's "Great Society" and his "war on poverty." About half the population of New Orleans was living on government handouts that were controlled by a black mayor, a black city council and enforced by a black police chief. The entire structure of New Orleans was one of corruption and vote buying using the welfare system. Pouring more money into the black community in New Orleans will not help and I believe the President is aware of this. He would like to restore black home ownership to levels at least as high as when Lyndon Johnson decided to help "them poor black folks." It was Lyndon Johnson's racism and his belief that blacks were not capable of making a living for themselves that created a welfare system that discouraged marriage and home ownership in the black community. The best fix for New Orleans is the enterprise zones and minority job creation programs the President proposes; however, I doubt the Congress will go along. Senators Ted Kennedy and Hillary Clinton will filibuster until the programs are once again turned into welfare programs that do more harm than good to the black community.

And now a smile:

ALTHOUGH WE were being married in New Hampshire, I wanted to add a touch of my home state, Kansas, to the wedding. My fiancée, explaining this to a friend, said that we were planning to have wheat rather than rice thrown after the ceremony.
Our friend thought for a moment. Then he said solemnly, "It's a good thing she's not from Idaho."

Thanks for today's devotion.  I have been in many churches that have the kneeling rail right in front of where you sit.  It is alright unless there is no pad on the wood.  Very difficult for many people not mention the children who like to clunk the wood & make noise with it..  We go forward to the altar and kneel for communion and that feels so meaningful to me.  I have been in churches where communion is passed while you are seated in the pew as well.  My cousin's church has communion about once or twice per year.  We have it weekly unless there is something very unusual going on.  I love going forward for communion as it always reminds me of our gift of Grace and the least I can do is to walk up to receive the every abundant gift.

Carol - abundant grace indeed!  That's a beautiful thought.  Sometimes we do it with myself and the pastor standing at the front and handing each element to each communicant with the reminder that they are thereby their need of His Blood, Body.  By taking it, we're saying to our Lord, I need Your forgiveness in Your Blood, and I need Your righteousness in Your broken Body. And He's saying to us, "I forgive you and I give you My righteousness."  Oh what a beautiful thing it is!

Janet - I wish so very much that every citizen in the country would read and understand what you quoted here.

Ruth Ann - I'm so glad you're feeling so much better!  Thank You, Lord.

Hi everyone.  Today has been sort of a lost day as have been resting or sleeping most of it.  I am just not feeling too good and think it has to do with the antibiotic they gave me after the surgery.  I also have a dull ache in my shoulder probably caused by the arm sling I have to wear.  Nothing serious but just sort of kills my interest in doing anything other than closing my eyes.  However, I wanted to check in for today.

Jane, just what you didn't need is car repair.  It seems major expenses come at times when they are least needed.  You are certainly an inspiration in seeing how you have handled these unpleasant things.

Janet, glad you can see the end of the tunnel with Beth's place.  I know you will be ready to have a nice change of pace for the week.  Hope you will have very nice weather for the week.

I have read all the postings but just don't feel up to writing much mroe today.

I am sorry that I don't have time to address each of you today.

I thought Kitty was bringing her camera to me today for a quick lesson in case Bob and she can't stay very long at the Class Reunion.  But I got an email saying I would be coming there.  So I called her and told her I would be there in less than a half hour.  She has a Canon Rebel...really great camera.  I don't learn much by someone telling me and showing me...give me the instruction book/manual and I can do it.  So I brought it home with me and read.  I have both batteries charged and everything is all set.  I took some pictures around here and they look great.

I have a little over an hour before I have to leave and everything is at my door except my Cornbread Salad.

I just know I am going to have a great time with my classmates!!!

Well I took one load over to the new place and have the car packed with another load that I will take over when I go over to the church for the Spaghetti feed. It wears me out going up and down these  few porch stairs. I am winded and sweaty now. The fog has rolled in again and it is pretty thick, I saw it when I came back from the other place. I took some of my potted plants over too. Iam not taking any of the heavy stuff, don't want tohurt myself.

TTYL gonna rest now.

It hit me today like a bolt from the blue---I had forgotton to go pick up my 26 paintings from the museum yesterday!! :o  Not good!  So I called the curator/director/whatever and she assured me they had carefully put them into the board room, and one of the girls would be there at 1:00 to open the museum for the afternoon.  So Darrel and I went in and loaded them up and hauled them back home.  Whew!  Glad I remembered before I left town, or I might have been in trouble with those nice people.

Larry, I hope you will feel stronger and a little more energetic tomorrow.  Do continue to take care of yourself, please.

Yes, Al, I wish they would read that, too.

Marilyn, every little bit helps, and it is surprising how all those small loads decrease the overall amount of stuff to be moved.

Etta Sue, do have a blast tonight at your school reunion.  It's nice to see your enthusiasm about it.  So many don't even bother to go when the reunion is right near them.

I'm going to rest for a little while.  All that work just about wore me out.  Lots more to do when we get home, but the worst of it is over.

Hi Everyone:

Lily of the Valley
(Click to hear music)

I am a rose of Sharon, a lily of the valleys.
Song of Solomon 2:1

Words: Charles W. Fry, 1881; first appeared in the Salvation Army's The War Cry, December 29, 1881.
Fry wrote the lyrics in Lincoln, England, while working with the Salvation Army there.

Music: William S. Hays; adapted by Charles W. Fry

I have found a friend in Jesus, He's everything to me,
He's the fairest of ten thousand to my soul;
The Lily of the Valley, in Him alone I see
All I need to cleanse and make me fully whole.
In sorrow He's my comfort, in trouble He's my stay;
He tells me every care on Him to roll.

Refrain
He's the Lily of the Valley,
the Bright and Morning Star,
He's  the fairest of ten thousand to my soul.

He all my grief has taken, and all my sorrows borne;
In temptation He's my strong and mighty tower;
I have all for Him forsaken, and all my idols torn
From my heart and now He keeps me by His power.
Though all the world forsake me, and Satan tempt me sore,
Through Jesus I shall safely reach the goal.

Refrain

He will never, never leave me, nor yet forsake me here,
While I live by faith and do His blessed will;
A wall of fire about me, I've nothing now to fear,
From His manna He my hungry soul shall fill.
Then sweeping up to glory to see His blessed face,
Where the rivers of delight shall ever roll.

Refrain

Well!!!  It sure is nice to see you posting, Ruthie!  Many have asked me where you have been.

Guess I'll see you next week when we go to the Gaithers.

A friend of mine won 2 tickets to see the Gaithers christmastime concert last year, and she took me as her guest. Oh, how I did enjoy it.

Y'all may be interested to know that my grandparents and another couple formed a mixed quartet and they sang for old fashioned "singings" as well as church services, revivals, and other christian related events. Their group became well known in northern Alabama and many people urged the two couples to go professional.

My grandfather had great trouble with "nervous breakdowns" so they declined. The other couple trained their children and went on to beome professionals, and have been very much loved and appreciated here in the south. They were Tom and Lena Speer and their children. Ben and his sister are now part of the Gaither Homecoming events. You may well see them while you're there.

Y'all have a great evening. I'm very tired, but thankful for what has been accomplished today.

I'm just stopping in to say good night and farewell for a while.  See you when we get home from S.D.  I think we are ready to depart early in the morning.

I wish you all a wonderful week.  Please take care of yourselves, I am expecting to hear good reports when I get back home!

I do hope that you, Janet, have a wonderful week.  I hope you have a great meeting up with Soni.

Boy!  I'm so tired!  We moved furniture today--some from the basement up to the main floor and some from the main floor down to the basement!  Lots of work.

Now, it's time to lock the door on this NEM and start posting in tomorrow's topic.
