JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

Jesus and Nicodemus
John 3:1-21  NLT

After dark one evening, a Jewish religious leader named Nicodemus, a Pharisee, came to speak with Jesus. "Teacher," he said, "we all know that God has sent you to teach us. Your miraculous signs are proof enough that God is with you."

Jesus replied, "I assure you, unless you are born again, you can never see the Kingdom of God."

"What do you mean?" exclaimed Nicodemus. "How can an old man go back into his mother's womb and be born again?"

Jesus replied, "The truth is, no one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born of water and the Spirit. Humans can reproduce only human life, but the Holy Spirit gives new life from heaven. So don't be surprised at my statement that you must be born again. Just as you can hear the wind but can't tell where it comes from or where it is going, so you can't explain how people are born of the Spirit."

"What do you mean?" Nicodemus asked.

Jesus replied, "You are a respected Jewish teacher, and yet you don't understand these things? I assure you, I am telling you what we know and have seen, and yet you won't believe us. But if you don't even believe me when I tell you about things that happen here on earth, how can you possibly believe if I tell you what is going on in heaven? For only I, the Son of Man, have come to earth and will return to heaven again. And as Moses lifted up the bronze snake on a pole in the wilderness, so I, the Son of Man, must be lifted up on a pole, so that everyone who believes in me will have eternal life.

"For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God did not send his Son into the world to condemn it, but to save it.

"There is no judgment awaiting those who trust him. But those who do not trust him have already been judged for not believing in the only Son of God. Their judgment is based on this fact: The light from heaven came into the world, but they loved the darkness more than the light, for their actions were evil. They hate the light because they want to sin in the darkness. They stay away from the light for fear their sins will be exposed and they will be punished. But those who do what is right come to the light gladly, so everyone can see that they are doing what God wants."
When did you first meet Jesus?  How?

The entire gospel comes to a focus in verse 16.  (For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.)

True love is not self-centered; it reaches out and draws others in.  God sets the pattern of true love here, the basis for all love relationships:  If you love someone dearly, you will be willing to pay dearly for that person's love.

God paid with the life of his Son, the highest price he could pay.  Jesus accepted our punishment, paid the price for our sins, and then offered us the new life that he bought for us.

When we share the gospel with others, our love must be like his--we must willingly give up our own comfort and security so that others might join us in receiving God's love.

Larry, I changed the resolution and the dpi to 120.  It is still small.  And I don't think I will change browser because this is the only site I was having problems with.  In fact, now there are sites that I can't maximize the window and now they are small.  So I will probably change back to the 800 x 600 which I like and scroll left and right on CP.  My eyes are tired of squinting with this resolution and if ai Ctrl + scroll to make the type larger then I have to scroll anyway.  Not a win-win resolution for me.  I will get used to it.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  I got up fairly early this morning and will post before heading out to coffee.  I have to go into the subdivision across the road from us and pick up one of the guys who has coffee with us.  He sold his truck and hasn't gotten another one yet.  He is the one who picked me up a couple of days last week and, of course, I am delighted that he called me and gave me the chance to return the favor.

I attended choir practice last evening and had a good time.  I got a number of those small jobs done here on the computer yesterday afternoon and have somemore to do today.  Guess I just wasn't up to tackling some of them during the early days of recovery from this surgery.  Each day finds the shoulder less sore.

Etta Sue, thanks for the devotional this morning.  It is a good one.  Sorry you are still having problems with the appearance of the CP site on your broswer.

JudyB, it sounds like you should have lots of wood for wnter, which you will be needing soon I expect.  Hope the remodeling job went well.

Tbear, nice to see your posting and hope your internet problems are fixed.

Marilyn, it sounds like you are on top of your moving situation and that it is a good idea to rest up a bit in preparation for the weekend.  Just a couple more days now until Saturday and that big day.

Hi Nards, glad you stopped in.

Ruth and Sue, hope your makeovers went to your liking last night.  Will we see pictures?

Carol, shampooing carpet is a big job but sure it looks nice now.  Hope you are not too sore today and that Don didn't overdo.  I expect you are like my wife who keeps a close watch on me.

Time for coffee.  Hope everyone has a great day.

Good Morning woke up with a headache this morning, I don't like to take the medicine first thing in the morning or even during the day. I hope it just goes away.

Anyway I will be back later.

Well good morning all!  I've got to go and see if the doctor agrees that I'm alive this morning.  I already had the lipids panel the other day, so they should be ready for a final evaluation.  God bless y'all today!

JudyB

Pat I am not sure.  We have business to take care of in NBay tonday as well and, well there is a lot to do so I don't know when we will be home.

It is a dull overcast day, last night a lot of rain.  I don't mind the overcast part, it is easier on the eyes than the direct sun.  We were both tired today and we are not long up.

Etta sue thank you for the devotional.  Oh that we might have the "true love" that the devotional talks of.  Father fill us with your love that we have our vision filtered by it. May everything we see be seen in the eyes of  Your love.

Have a great day everyone.  I won't be back till tomorrow.

Love Judy

Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to
offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God --
this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to
the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of
your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's
will is -- his good, pleasing and perfect will.

I have already put another load into the car and will drop it off on my way back home today. Then I am going to take over all the food out of the fridge, because the power is going to be
off tomorrow for I don't know how long while they install a new power pole. My landlord came by this morning and told me that they may leave it off, he wasn't sure. The power company left me a note saying it would be off for 4 hours, but you never know what they are doing. If they leave it off me and the dogs will go camp out at the other house.

Unless I can get someone to load the truck up Friday night and at least unload my bed over there.

Oh well I will be glad when it is over.

gotta go now.

Papa John

Pat, I really like the new look.  Thank you for all the work you do.

It seems like we have been extra busy this week going here and there.  My eye is doing fine and now I just have one drop three times a day.

Tomorrow we are driving over to Knoxville to spend the night with daughter Beth and sil James.  Then Saturday we will drive on over to Pigeon Forge for a week in our Time Share there.  This year I will have my scooter so I can keep up with Cornelia better.

Ps 33:16-22
16   No king is saved by the size of his army; no warrior escapes by his great strength.
17   A horse is a vain hope for deliverance; despite all its great strength it cannot save.
18   But the eyes of the LORD are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love,
19   to deliver them from death and keep them alive in famine.
20   We wait in hope for the LORD; he is our help and our shield.
21   In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name.
22   May your unfailing love rest upon us, O LORD, even as we put our hope in you.   (NIV)

Jesus, Jesus, Jesus
There's just something about that name
Master, Saviour, Jesus

Jesus, Jesus, Jesus
Let all Heaven and Earth proclaim
Kings and kingdoms
Will all pass away
But there's something about that Name.

Pat, I really love that song.  Yes, the Name of Jesus can do so much within us.....just saying His Name is healing to me.  Jesus, Jesus, Jesus.......:)  How, I love Him and need Him.

I'm really getting used to the new look.  For some reason my Firefox won't open any images here now, even the cute graphics Etta Sue inserts in her posts, so I'm gladly remembering to use IE.  I think the new look is crisp and cool and modern, yet very friendly.  I like the Shout Box better now, to the right and not scrolling automatically like before.  To me, that was distracting.  I had to read really fast to even see what was said, so I usually didn't pay attention.   A great job Pat and Oldiesman.

Rocko is at the groomers today.  Tyson and I are missing him and wanting him home again.

I guess yesterday was the "official"  last day of summer?  I sure feel the coolness at night now.  With the costal wind, it gets quite chilly after sunset.

I saw on the news earlier that so many are evacuating the gulf area of Texas.  I don't have all the news channels as I did before, so am not glued to it as I was Katrina.  Do we have any members in that area?

Well, I need to go try to look busy.......at least vacuum the floor or something while I wait to hear my Mr. Rocko is ready.  The groomer is only about a hop, skip and a jump from me, so when we get the call, it's off we go.

Marilyn, I will be glad with you when you are all snuggled into your new place.  It's the last few days waiting for all the things to come together that gets hard.  Lights off?  Lights on?  Go or stay?  Soon it will be GO and you will be in your new home.....you and the boys.  Then you can sit down and take a rest and a deep sigh. :)

ok.....NOW i'm going to go look busy. lol      nita

Pat

Hi Nita...

Thanks for your comments.  Not sure why you can't see the images with firefox.  Must be a setting in yours as I know that Etta Sue uses it and I've just checked with mine and I can see them all.

No, I didn't like the Shoutbox up top either but I knew we were getting the "New Look" when Oldiesmann was free so I just left it there.

Yes, isn't the love of Jesus wonderful, Nita?  He's everything to me.

Sue

Just a quick note, I will be back later to play the music and get some more resumes out.

I must scoot out and get my car filled up.  I was also asked to take the gas cans that we have and get them filled up as well.  They are enough to fill one tank of gas.  My partner heard on the news (that's why he asked me to fill up the gas cans) that not only are the prices going to skyrocket, but finally an investigation is going to be done about why the prices are so high when the gas companies are making money hand over fist.  While out, I will also be picking up some photos that I had developed at Costco.

Before I leave though, as stated, my mother and I had a MaryKay makeover done last evening and our before and after shots can be seen http://www.christianphotographers.com/community/index.php?topic=4856.0

Now must get going, or I won't want to do what I know I must when I get back home.  It also feels like rain right now, so I also want to get back home before that starts.

Marilyn

Iv'e taken over two loads today and that is it. I emptied the freezer here and took that over and whatever else would fit in the car. Now it is all over until the truck is loaded, unless of course I have to go camp out over there tomorrow. If the power company does leave the power off  that is where I will be, busying myself doing stuff there.

Both Fay and Versal have given me the time off with pay.

Pat I like it that it automatically posts in bold lettering.

Ruth Ann Bice

Hi, friends, well, another loooong day is over, and I want to "hit the sack" early tonight. I learned that the big client asked for me to be at the entire business meeting week after next, so I'll be in Chicago from Monday until Thursday. Our work computers are configured to bar participation in internet websites. So, will really miss y'all. That's week after next.

Y'all have a good evening.

Ruth Ann
...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Sue

RuthAnn, as frustrating as it is to not have access from a company computer, I also understand the need for it because I have seen firsthand the abuse that can take place if free rein is given.  More play than work gets done quite often.

I was able to get gas for $102.9 per litre.  I really hope that something gets done about the outrageous gouging that is taking place.

Now, to get some dinner and relax for the evening.

JudyB

I am in from N BAy and as Pat had warned me about the fuel prices we checked them out.  The lowest we saw was 113.5  The highest was 136.9.  The gas stations were across from each other!!!

It has been raining most of the afternoon and evening.  I don't mind the rain.

We have a big day planned tomorrow and we are both quite tired, so off to bed early.

Love to you all
Judy

Larry Hanna

I am a happy camper tonight as the computer store called and said my laptop was ready.  My son picked it up and I meet him about halfway.  I set it up and the screen is fine now (apparently a little part they were able to replace.)  However, when I tried to get on the Internet I couldn't.  He happened to call and we tried several things without success and then remembered there is a little switch on the side of these Toshiba that let's you lock it so it won't access the Internet and I had forgotten about it.  I finally remembered and sure enough it had been turned off.  When I turned it on all was fine.  Great to have the laptop back to use in the evening.

I was able to go to Calvin Cove today and play and sing with the older folks.  There were only 8 or 9 present but they seemed to enjoy the singing.  Then I had to go to the grocery store for Pat.  It has been a busy day but I can tell I am quite a bit stronger.  I think the pacing of my heart may be giving me more energy.  Sure hope it lasts.  Most of the soreness is gone now in my shoulder.

Tomorrow our daughter-in-law is having foot surgery to remove problems on the top of the foot, on the heel and on the side of her foot.  My son said she will have to keep it in a cast for 6 weeks even though they are not breaking any bones.  For some reason they don't want something moved about as the foot heals.

Sue and Ruth, I saw your nice before and after pictures.  Glad you had such a nice time.

Ruth Ann, are you really up to attending the meeting for such a long time?  Sure hope it isn't too much for you.  While it is an honor to have been requested to attend I just hope it isn't deterimental to what is good for you.

Marilyn, maybe they will get the power back on tomorrow so you can at least sleep in your bed.  I think you are I are a bit too old to be sleeping on the floor if it can be avoided.  It is nice you will have the day off to move.

Nita, on your Firefox browser you might want to check your Options and "web features" and see that the load images is checked.  I just now checked this site in Firefox on my computer and it displays just as it does in IE as far as I can tell.

Al, did the doctor agree that you are "alive" today?  :)

Geri-jean, nice to see you posting.

Papa John, glad your eye is doing so well.  Know you are looking forward to your trip next week.

Pat, I found one gas station today that was out of gas but then heard on the radio that we really don't have any shortage here in North Georgia and unless everyone tries to fill up in the same day we should be fine.  However, it doesn't mean the prices aren't going up.   I paid $2.59 for gas this afternoon.

Guess it is time to sign off for tonight.

Carol

Larry:  Your son sounds like a gem to me.  You need to be mindful of overdoing as well.  I confess, that even today Don went for a longer walk than he said he would take and I went around the house and tried to track him down - I don't know why, but I have to know where he is all of the time.

Al:  My very best wishes for the best of all on your test results.

Yes, gasoline will be going upwards for awhile and heating as well.  I sure am glad that we traded in our SUV even though it wasn't as bad as others - now, this vehiclle will most likely be the last one we ever buy (according to Don) and it has a gas mileage twice as good as the other.

Carol

Yes Larry I will be able to slewep in my bed. The power here will be back on in less than 4 hours.   Gilbert is goign to let me set up his fish tank in my new house. I love to have an aquarium going, the sound is so peaceful. As Gilbert was growing up we have many aquariums from a 10 gallon to a 55 gallon and beautiful fish.

We started traveling up to Vernier in 1968 for a fishing trip.  Except for a few years we had been going there every year since my son was 11 yrs old.  He is now 44.

We have watched the progress of North Bay and the roads leading up to it.  The two lane divided highway from Barrie most of the way north is great.  Even the road back to our fishiing hole at Camp Laplage has greatly improved over the two ruts that greeted us on our first arrival.

The improvement to downtown N.B. is really great.  We were there the year the main street was all torn up.  We were there for the 50th birthday celebration of Dionne quintriplets and I bought the special issue gold-plated N.B. dollars....Say, are they of any value now ?

We went through Barrie just ahead of the tornado that one year.  It couldn't have been more than an hour ahead of it.  Whew! were we glad we beat it outa there just in time.

This summer we returned for what will probably be the last time for one last look-see.  Except for lousy fishing, we had a great time remembering our past trips.  We had a lot of laughs.  My 15 yr old grandson saw another side of his Grandpa & his Uncle Rob.

Gas prices.  When we left to head back home it was under $1 a litre.

Larry, Carol - yes, the results from doctors were excellent.  My cholesterol, lipids, etc. are down, my PSA was down 2 points.  Everything was much better than expected.  Thank the Lord for His mercy.  I must learn, though, to thank Him when things aren't that good, because He knows what is best - for His glory, for His Kingdom, and for me.  We need to trust Him totally.  Nevertheless, I'm thanking Him for this mercy.

Pat

That's so good, Al to hear of the results.

Eddie, I can't believe you were so close to so many.  Judy lives just south of North Bay.
