JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

"Hypocrites in the Church? Yes, and in the lodge and at the home. Don't
hunt through the Church for a hypocrite. Go home and look in the

~Billy Sunday~

Morning Devotional...

I rejoice at thy word, as one that findeth great spoil.
Psalm 119:162

A travelling man, a Christian, was packing his suitcase for a trip, in the presence of a friend.

"I've still a little corner left," he remarked. "I'm saving it for a guidebook, a lamp, a mirror, some letters, and a sword."

"Ridiculous!" his friend exclaimed. "You can't possibly get all those things in".

"Yes I can", the traveler replied. Then he placed his Bible in the empty place.

What value do you place on God's precious Word?
—Ross Rainey

I have a wonderful treasure,
The gift of God without measure;
We will travel together,
My Bible and I.

THE BIBLE STANDS
(Click title for music)

The Bible stands like a rock undaunted
'Mid the raging storms of time;
Its pages burn with the truth eternal,
And they glow with a light sublime.

Refrain
The Bible stands though the hills may tumble,
It will firmly stand when the earth shall crumble;
I will plant my feet on its firm foundation,
For the Bible stands.

The Bible stands like a mountain towering
Far above the works of men;
Its truth by none ever was refuted,
And destroy it they never can.

Refrain

The Bible stands and it will forever,
When the world has passed away;
By inspiration it has been given,
All its precepts I will obey.

Refrain

The Bible stands every test we give it,
For its Author is divine;
By grace alone I expect to live it,
And to prove and to make it mine.

Pat I love that hymn. many memories singing it at the piano with you playing,.wasn't Ruthie in on some of those sinsongs?  Good ol days eh?

Good devotional too thank you.

We had a wonderful turkey dinner and visit.  Drake is 3 and such a little charmer.  My they grow up so quickly.  Mother really enjoyed herself as well.  It is nice to have her here, she likes the openness of our farm.  I don't think I could live in the city again.

It is late and John is driving everyone home. I think I will relax with a good book till he gets home.

Night all and have a good rest.

Just a point to ponder:  What do non-christians do on Sunday morning?

I'm sittin' here watchin' the clock knowin' that I have about 2 mintures till I have to get ready to go to SS at 9:30.  I am looking forward to it and I just wonder what non-christian have to look forward to on Sunday AM.

Hi everyone on this wonderful day of worship.  We will be leaving for church before too long.  Just now finishing a delicious breakfast that Pat fixed for me this morning.

I had a very enjoyable day yesterday as my friend came over.  If you look in my album on the Gallery you will see a picture my wife took of us sitting in the family room and each of us working with our laptops.  We had a very nice afternoon eating chili for lunch and then shared a packet of microwave popcorn as the 4th quarter began.  His team won easily so that made it an even better day.  Following that I watched Georgia University beat Tennessee, which is always enjoyable as beating Tennessee is always a difficult task.  Then had a quiet evening.

Janet, glad to see you are home safe and rested.  Know you will enjoy your time with Abby over the weekend.

JudyB, it sounds like you had a very nice Thanksgiving affair.  It is nice to have family present.

Pat, thanks for the devotional this morning.

Fast Eddie - they have only the same forlorn old world before them, one without true, caring love, without guidance from above, without future hope, and with only a guilt-filled soul to carry about.  They hope that today's seeking of pleasure will supply something lasting, but it cannot.

Oh thank our Lord for LIFE!

Marilyn

Good Morning everyone. This is the day the Lord hath made and I will rejoice and be glad in it. Rejoice and again I say rejoice.

I didn't sleep well last night even tho I did take an over the counter sleep aid. Well maybe tonight will be different. I had a headache most of yesterday and ended up taking 3 of the Ultram (prescription pain meds) and 2 Ibuprofen  before it finally went away in the late afternoon. I am so thankful it is gone.

Larry sounds like you had a very nice time with your friend yesterday and are happy about the outcome of the games. I will go look at the photos  before I shutdown to get ready for church.

Good Morning Al you are up as early as I am most everyday aren't you?

Fast Eddie, You have a great day at church today and don't worry about what those who do not know Jesus are doing. They don't know what they are missing do they?

Good afternoon!

Fast Eddie, the ones I see who do not go to church spend the morning sleeping late; mowing their lawns, watching TV; and the afternoon and evening going to the stores, drinking beer, watching more TV and often fighting with their families or friends.  Pretty sad and empty, huh?

Abby is having fun here.  She loves our dog Cookie, and the new kitty we got from her.  Cookie and Dinah play so cute together, too.

Larry, glad you had a nice "football afternoon" with your friend!  And it helps when the teams you are rooting for win.  :)

JudyB, your Thanksgiving sounded really nice.  We still have a while before ours, and Jeff has already invited us to their house, which is really nice.

Beth went with us to church today, and people were happy to see her.  She is enjoying her "new" house, too.  Darrel and Lance got the rest of their part done while I was away.

Hi, Pat!  Hi, Marilyn!  Hello, Al!

I came back to add that the ladies who went to the conference will be sharing in tonight's service.  I have no idea what to share, so am praying about it.

Yes we had a lovely day.

Fast Eddie they sit and watch TV, or spend money they don't have or do the garage sale thing.  All looking for a way to fill the gap.  What they don't know that the gap can be filled free of charge!.  I pray for those who don't know our Lord.

This was a wondeful day of testimony in Church.  The pastor gave people the opportunity to tell what they are thankful for.   John was really discouraged about 9 months ago and came home from a trip and sat at the puter and listed all the thiongs he had to be thankful for.  I added my list.  Many pages later we found we were no longer discouraged.  A simple exercise that focussed us on the positive not the negative.

As Phil. 4: 8 - 9 says,
"Finally Bretheren whatsoever things are true,
whatsoever things are noble,
whatsoever things are just,
whatsoever things are pure,
whatsoever things are lovely,
whatsoever things are of good report,,
if there be any virtue,
if there be any praise,
think on these things.
.........And the God of Peace will be with you.

I think that is a good cure for a lot of petty conflict and some depression problems.

Well with that I will go

Have a good afternoon everyone.
Love Judy

Gloria passed away on Friday afternoon at 4:30. They took her off the sedation long enough to  let her tell them her wishes of not being put  back on the ventilator. She died of some unknown lung disease. They will be doing an autopsy to try to figure out exactly what it was. Her memorial service will be held at my church on Oct. 29th.

Thanks for the devotional, Pat.  Also to Judy and Papa John.  Yes, we do have much to be grateful for and that is something that becomes more obvious each day.  Terrible earthquake in Pakistan with 19,000 deaths and rising...Seems every week more Biblical Prophecy comes true!

Fast Eddie, non-Christians simply do what they do the other six days of the week.  Since being forced to stay at home on Sunday mornings, I can fully experience how empty that time is!  Wish the days when churches tried to reach out and form car pools, had S.School buses, etc. and actually cared...well, the proof is in the pudding, as the old saying goes.  Guess they reap what is sown, as more and more seem to be closing.  Including the one I had hoped to attend, that was only a short distance away.  Now they meet in a house, much further away.....

We are having thanksgiving dinner tomorrow and I am making the pumpkin pie.  Turkey, etc......That will be nice.  My daughter is a great cook and her meals are always special.  Mine are merely okay!

Rain again today....at least any minute now.  Glad Janet is back and it sounds like you had a nice time.  Larry, I am waiting for curling to start on TV as that makes my day.  Like football, get a headache from the sports talking heads.

Enough.  Think this weather is 'not' making my day.

Sorry about Gloria, Marilyn.  You were a good friend to her.

God Blessl

Liz

CHANGE NOT THY FAITH WITH CHANGING TIMES

Papa John

I'll drop in for a minute this afternoon.  We are entertaining granddaughters this week end. One came in from Washington DC another from Memphis, and one from here in Nashville with little Elsie our great granddaughter.  They wanted to be together so they spent the night last night and I think they will stay over tonight.

We had a big Sunday dinner today with some other guests who were here.  Cornelia put the roast on before we all left for church.  We had a wonderful service this morning.  Tonight we are having a singing which I always enjoy.
I am happy that all our grandchildren are Christians and it is a great blessing for me when we can all be together.

I hope everyone is doing well today.  Pat, Judy B., Fast Eddie, Larry, Al, Marilyn, Janet, Liz, and others who may drop in.

Mark 16:1-6
1   When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices so that they might go to anoint Jesus' body.
2   Very early on the first day of the week, just after sunrise, they were on their way to the tomb
3   and they asked each other, "Who will roll the stone away from the entrance of the tomb?"
4   But when they looked up, they saw that the stone, which was very large, had been rolled away.
5   As they entered the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe sitting on the right side, and they were alarmed.
6   "Don't be alarmed," he said. "You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him.
(NIV)

Fast  Eddie:  Here, the Sunday mornings for the majority of the people is set up for outdoor sports of so many things - and of all things, people shop more on Sunday that any other day of the week.  Often, we go to Saturday night service because we drive an hour & half to meet children on Sunday afternoons & it feels "weird" to not go the the Sunday morning service (it is the same sermon)- we also attend the Wednesday night Spirituality session and that is very meaningful.

Marilyn:  So sorry to learn of the loss of Gloria & I hope that she is at peace now.  You have been so good with her.

We are weary after going to a day of hockey yesterday in Colorado Springs and then not sleeping at all - the mattress there was like a rock     & Don's ribs are aching today besides not sleeping.  Nice to be home tonight.  It is raining hard & snow storm warning is being shown so I don't know what that begins.  Yesterday, it was summer & today is winter.

I don't know how many times I've been licensed to preach the Gospel by one church or another.  I've been ordained two or three times, licensed 3 or four times, etc., etc.  Shouldn't have to happen - our Lord's Church is one Church, no matter what men may think.  But, anyway, now, this evening, I'm to be licensed by the North Coast Baptist Associatioon to preach the Gospel.  This will put me "on the list" to be pulpit suply in any of their churches from now on.  Oh well - back to work!

Marilyn - Yes, I get up anywhere from 5AM to 6AM usually.  I'm the only one.  Then, later, I'm Marbeth's alarm clock when it's her time.  I get a nice, quiet coffee time on here most mornings, so don't say anything you don't want me to hear!

Pat

I've been humming this for that last couple of hours since some company left.

Make Me A Channel Of Blessing

Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ,
as though God were pleading through us:
we implore you on Christ's behalf, be reconciled to God.
2 Corinthians 5:20

Words and Music: Harper G. Smyth, 1903.

Is your life a channel of blessing?
Is the love of God flowing through you?
Are you telling the lost of the Savior?
Are you ready His service to do?

Chorus:
Make me a channel of blessing today,
Make me a channel of blessing, I pray;
My life possessing, my service blessing,
Make me a channel of blessing today.

Is your life a channel of blessing?
Are you burdened for those that are lost?
Have you urged upon those who are straying,
The Savior Who died on the cross?

Is your life a channel of blessing?
Is it a daily telling for Him?
Have you spoken the Word of salvation
To those who are dying in sin?

We cannot be channels of blessing
If our lives are not free from known sin;
We will barriers be and a hindrance
To those we are trying to win.

I don't know why that is true Al, but it is.

Since becoming a christian, whenever I meet/enter a new/different  group of christians I find myself stating my beliefs...almost like having to defend myself or at least establish that I believe the same thing "they" do.  Once it is established that I am "like them" I can feel free to add to the discussion w/o fear of being misunderstood.

I observe that happening to new people coming into a group that I am in, so it is not I alone that have to deal with that.

Thank you Liz and Carol.  I know where Gloria went I was responsible for bringing her into the kindgom so I KNOW that  now she is free from her suffering and HOME with Jesus.
We may have had our rough times but She was my friend and I was her friend.

Nita

Good Sunday evening, y'all.

Marilyn, I'm sorry about the loss of your friend, Gloria.  Knowing she is in Christ must bring you great comfort.  And to know that you brought her to Him.....even more so. :)

I wonder why you're having such headaches?  I can't remember.....did they start before you moved or after?  I'm praying you have some relief soon.  With headaches, I always think of allergies, but I know stress can bring them, or other illnesses.  I know you take care of yourself, so I won't tell you to do that. :)

This next weekend will be the annual "sisters gathering" for my family.  It's been women and smaller kids, but this year my nephew, Dylan, is coming so he can be a part of the music making.  It seems so sweet that a young man, 18, would want to come and hear his mom, aunts, and cousins sing and play.  He particularly wants to see and hear my daughter, Kim.  We taped part of the last time and he heard her doing one of her own songs and loved her voice.  He'll be the only guy, but I just know it's going to be fun for him, and he'll also be able to play and sing for us.  He plays guitar and sings pretty good, I hear.  I did hear him, once, last year, but he's had a year to perfect his craft, so I'm excited to hear him again.  He wrote me a funny email and said that "They" had decided that the oldest one there had to start everyone off with a couple of solos. lol  Of course, that's aunt Nita.  I love the harmonies so like it when we all sing.

I have been so blessed today.  His sweetness, His presence comes in such simplicity and yet more profound than we can ever know in this world.  Nothing, no one, compares with our Jesus.  I was going back today, remembering how He found me in the garbage pile and poured His oil on me, cleansing me from all my ugliness, and then put His own garment on me.  And such love; love that changed my very being.  I don't want to ever forget that it was simply His Love......poured into me....that gave me the longing to be like Him, to be what He wanted me to be.

I guess I thought of that because I know, now, that only His love can cause that responsive desire to Love in return.  Each heart needs to feel that safe place to be unconditionally loved.  He gave me that, then took away the need to drink to take the pain, the feelings of unworthiness....oh, the unworthiness!  He swallowed that up in Himself. haha  Joy!  The more I let Him love me, the more He WAS, and the less of me I could see.  Forgetting myself, I dared cast everything over onto my Jesus.....and He took it.  I was free.  I was free.  I am free.  I'm so overflowing with that tonight.   Thank you, my Lord and King, my Brother and Keeper of my soul
