JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

Jesus Rejected
Luke 4:14-30  NLT

14Then Jesus returned to Galilee, filled with the Holy Spirit's power. Soon he became well known throughout the surrounding country. 15He taught in their synagogues and was praised by everyone.

16When he came to the village of Nazareth, his boyhood home, he went as usual to the synagogue on the Sabbath and stood up to read the Scriptures. 17The scroll containing the messages of Isaiah the prophet was handed to him, and he unrolled the scroll to the place where it says:

    18
"The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
for he has appointed me to preach Good News to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim
       that captives will be released,
       that the blind will see,
that the downtrodden will be freed from their oppressors,

19 and that the time of the Lord's favor has come."
20He rolled up the scroll, handed it back to the attendant, and sat down. Everyone in the synagogue stared at him intently. 21Then he said, "This Scripture has come true today before your very eyes!"

22All who were there spoke well of him and were amazed by the gracious words that fell from his lips. "How can this be?" they asked. "Isn't this Joseph's son?"

23Then he said, "Probably you will quote me that proverb, `Physician, heal yourself'--meaning, `Why don't you do miracles here in your hometown like those you did in Capernaum?' 24But the truth is, no prophet is accepted in his own hometown.

25"Certainly there were many widows in Israel who needed help in Elijah's time, when there was no rain for three and a half years and hunger stalked the land. 26Yet Elijah was not sent to any of them. He was sent instead to a widow of Zarephath--a foreigner in the land of Sidon. 27Or think of the prophet Elisha, who healed Naaman, a Syrian, rather than the many lepers in Israel who needed help."

28When they heard this, the people in the synagogue were furious. 29Jumping up, they mobbed him and took him to the edge of the hill on which the city was built. They intended to push him over the cliff, 30but he slipped away through the crowd and left them.

How would Jesus be received in your church next Sunday??

Jesus went to the synagogue "as usual."  Even though he was the perfect Son of God and his local synagogue left much to be desired, he attended services every week.

Jesus' example makes most excuses for not attending church sound weak and self-serving.  Make regular worship a part of your life.

Kitty and I had a great time photographing even though her camera wasn't working.  Seems she is going to have to take her year old Canon to a camera shop to see what is wrong!

I did put 4 photos in the October Challenge in The Gallery if you would like to go take a look-see!

Early in the morning, Ivalou, Kaye Don, Barb and I are going to go out for breakfast for Barb's birthday...which isn't until November 17th but they are leaving for Florida November 6th.  So I need to rush and make her a card.  Whoooosh!  I am outta here!!

Janet, what a time you had at the eye doctor.  I don't think I have any cateracts growing for which I'm very happy.  So sorry that you had to go through all that.

Glad you're going to have some "girl time" with our Abby.

Glad you had some skating time with Mum, Teresa Dawn.  That's so special.  Does she skate well?

Ruth Ann, my hair might be grey under what my hairdresser puts on but only she knows for sure!  ;)

Hey Al Moak~!  I'll look up and see if I have a recipe for you.  I bet you'll get lots of them!

Glad you enjoyed Jesus Loves Me for Seniors, Vernon!   ;)

Well, I've been doing my Avon order all day and other things...  Running errands, etc.

Must finish my Avon order now.

Hi Etta Sue!

I had that post above sitting for a couple of hours and never got it posted.  So I've posted it in today's topic.

Hello everyone!!!

Anthony, hope you are feeling better, and yes, my Mary Kay is the same one Marilyn was referring to.

Speaking of, I don't think I ever commented.  That was a big difference in the before and after Marilyn.  I hope you had a good time!

Tomorrow's adventure includes a trip to Grandfather Mountain (home of the mile high swinging bridge -- ughh, I'm terrified of heights).  Hopefully, they will have soem fall color there.  everything here is just as green as can be.  The leaves are falling, but they are green.  :(

Hope everyone has/had a good night.

Laters!

TeresaDawn

Well, I am off to bed now.  Almost half gone eleven here. Night everyone (and morning if it's morning :)

God Bless,
Tersea Dawn

Nita

Hi all.  I enjoyed the posts today.  Again, I'm just stopping in before going to bed.  I'm the only one up.

Rene spent the day with Jim's family.  His mother is hosting family from all over, so this gave her a chance to get to know them.  She was stronger today.  She wanted to drive herself, so she did.   I worried that she might be driving and her mind go in another direction.......that happens after a loss like hers.....but she said she did ok.  I see her inner strength, strength she doesn't believe she has.  It's there.  I know God is holding her and giving her His strength.

Now......off to the gallery.  I want to see Marilyn's before and after photos.

Jane Walker

Hey there, Nita!  You are absolutely right about God giving Rene His strength ... I'm glad she is making these steps back toward a new life.  She is strong because of Him, y'know.

Actually, the only strength any of us have is Jesus living in and through us.  Let the weak say I am strong ... so true.
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Nita

ok, I thought karma mentioned Marilyn's before and after (Mary Kaye makeover).  I couldn't find the photos in your gallery, Marilyn.  Are they there?

I'll look tomorrow.  I'm off for bed now.

ps:  Hi, Jane.   You are so right.  He is our only Strength.

Jane Walker

Nita ... Marilyn's photos are in her gallery as well as the Photography forum

Check out Joy's latest photos, too, while you're there.

Good morning everyone.  The devotional made a very good point this morning.  How important it is to fellowship with other believers.  We can be encouraged in so many different ways - reading of scripture, words of a hymn, someone's testimony and of course the ministry of the word.  Thank God for brothers and sisters in the Lord.

I had a better night's sleep last night, so feeling somewhat better.  I trust everyone has a blessed day today.

God bless,

Anthony.

My oh my, it is 6:30 and look at the replies!

Thank you for the devotional today Etta Sue!  I love to go to church to learn and fellowship.  it is so hard when I am not able to attend,

I am seeing Melaura off to school as she gets on the bus at 7:25, so she leaves tbe house at 7:15.  Lots of time to freeze her little bottom off.  (Her words not mine!)

Kassie wants a shower today so she is getting up in a minutes.  This is an every other day thing with her. It is hard to believe she is nearly 11, they grow up so fast.  Elizabeth prefirs a bath at night.

I will be back
love Judy

Marilyn

Papa John

Sorry I've missed for the last two days.  Seems like because of a lot of little projects  I don't get to spend as much computer time as I would like.

I went to the doctor Tuesday and got the prescription for some new glasses after my cataract surgery.  Then we went to the glasses place which says "Get your glasses in one hour."  So we arranged to get a new lens.  The lady said it would be a week or ten days before it comes back.  I said, "What about your advertisement that you can get your glasses in one hour?"  She said, "That's not for glasses which are bi-focal."

Col 3:12  Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and, patience.  (NIV)

Tonight we are going to a concert, at church, "An Evening with Anthony Burger."   The brochure says:  "One of gospel music's premier musicians, Anthony Burger delivers more than Christian entertainment to listeners.  Today, Anthony channels all the knowledge and skill he learned from classical piano into a wide range of other styles."

Pat:  Now that is a different "Jesus Loves Me".... :D

Marilyn:  I think Don goes into a trance when we get near Harbour Freight.  ....

Anthony:  I read your Italy Blog and it is very interesting.  The history of Italy is on the Blog as well and that is something we did not learn in school.  It is good to see you here again.

Papa John:  We had the same thing happen years ago in a quick eyeglass place & they must be so cheerful when they tell the customer that it can't be done in the time stated on the door.  I hope your glasses come back really good for you.

Janet:  I am not sure what RK eye surgery could be.  I was told last year that cataracts were just beginning to form and I would love to be without glasses ever again so am looking for the latest in eye surgery about a year from now. Also was told that people with blue eyes, and mine are light blue, are much more suseptible to cataracts.

Gotta go - have another lesson in Quicken, from Don.

Here's an oldie with lovely words.  How about reading them carefully and seeing if you agree with them.

There's a Wideness in God's Mercy
(Click to hear music)

"His mercy extends to those who fear Him, from generation to generation." Luke 1:50

Words: Frederick W. Faber, 1814-1863

Music: Lizzie S. Tourjee, 1858-1913

There's a wideness in God's mercy,
Like the wideness of the sea;
There's a kindness in His justice,
Which is more than liberty.

There is no place where earth's sorrows
Are more felt than up in heaven;
There is no place where earth's failings
Have such kindly judgment given.

There is welcome for the sinner,
And more graces for the good;
There is mercy with the Savior;
There is healing in His blood.

There is grace enough for thousands
Of new worlds as great as this;
There is room for fresh creations
In that upper home of bliss.

For the love of God is broader
Than the measure of our mind;
And the heart of the Eternal
Is most wonderfully kind.

There is plentiful redemption
In the blood that has been shed;
There is joy for all the members
In the sorrows of the Head.

'Tis not all we owe to Jesus;
It is something more than all;
Greater good because of evil,
Larger mercy through the fall.

If our love were but more simple,
We should take Him at His word;
And our lives would be all sunshine
In the sweetness of our Lord.

Souls of men! why will ye scatter
Like a crowd of frightened sheep?
Foolish hearts! why will ye wander
From a love so true and deep?

It is God: His love looks mighty,
But is mightier than it seems;
'Tis our Father: and His fondness
Goes far out beyond our dreams.

But we make His love too narrow
By false limits of our own;
And we magnify His strictness
With a zeal He will not own.

Was there ever kinder shepherd
Half so gentle, half so sweet,
As the Savior who would have us
Come and gather at His feet?

Hi everyone, I've just finished my tea so I thought I would pop on and read the posts.  I made Chicken Chasseur tonight and enjoyed it very much  ^-^

Judy, it's good to hear your children enjoy bathing.  My neice once told me that she doesn't have time to wash her feet while she goes to school.  She just washes them on the weekend.  The mind boggles  :-X

Marilyn, I'm glad that you are able to call Al up.  Are you both close to each other?  I can't get my head round the tuna loaf.  Is it really a loaf made out of tuna fish?  I  just can't imagine it  :-\  I hope you had a good day shopping.

Papa John, it's good to see you post today.  I went into an optician that displayed an advert outside boasting of glasses being ready in 2 hours, but when I enquired I was informed that one optician was off sick today and they would be ready in a fortnight  ::)

Carol, thanks for popping onto to see the blog.  The site that hosts the blog is a really good idea for a Christian community.

TBear, my prayers are with you as you await the news about the job.  The bible does say that if we ask anything accordance to His will, He will grant it to us.  God knows what He is doing.

Pat, I'm glad you got your Avon order done on time.  I don't know how you manage to fit everything into one day.  I am sorry about the lack of sleep.  You're not having too much coffee are you?  I've been having decaf' lately.  It seems to suit me better. (Thanks for the hymn too - wonderful words of encouragement.)

God bless all and thanks again for the fellowship.

Anthony.

Vernon

Hi there eveyone, I hope you all have a great day.

There is a song that is going through my mind the hole day. I don't know all the excact words, but it goes like this:

"At the cross at the cross where I first saw the light and the burdens of my heart rolled away..........???"

I anyone knows the words please post them. It will be fantastic.

Vernon.
(2Ti 1:7) "For the Spirit that God has given us does not make us timid; instead, his Spirit fills us with power, love, and self-control."

JudyB

This has been quite a day.  I have had a sinus headache all last night and today, it has finally gone.

I have been having computer problems.  It seems Outlook is being fickle again.  I hit send on emails and it sends anywhere from 1 to 6 times the same email.   I have had a couple of curt responses because of this.  Anyone have any ideas as to why this happens?

Kassie has been off school for three days.  She has a pile of catching up to do.  Melaura needs the computer for a school project.  So I am off here and will be back later.

Love to all

Judy

Papa John

Vernon, the song is, "Alas and Did My Savior Bleed?"

Alas! and did my Savior bleed?
And did my Sovereign die?
Would He devote that sacred head
For such a one as I?

Chorus:
At the cross, at the cross where I first saw the light,
And the burden of my heart rolled away,
It was there by faith I received my sight,
And now I am happy all the day

There are four other verses.

Papa John          <;D)))><<

A KM is 1.16 miles.  I would love to live that close to Pastor Al.

Homework assignment is done and the 'puter is mine again.

Papa John that hymn has brought back memories of church as a child.  Pat I wonder if you could put the words and music up for us to sing along.  I am already singing, I wonder how many verses I remember?

At the Cross
(Click to hear music)

"There is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, Who gave Himself as a ransom for all men." 1 Timothy 2:5-6

Words: Isaac Watts, Hymns and Spiritual Songs, 1707; Ralph E. Hudson wrote the refrain in 1885.
Music: "Martyrdom," Hugh Wilson, 1800

Alas! and did my Savior bleed
And did my Sovereign die?
Would He devote that sacred head
For sinners such as I?
[originally, For such a worm as I?]
Refrain

At the cross, at the cross where I first saw the light,
And the burden of my heart rolled away,
It was there by faith I received my sight,
And now I am happy all the day!

Thy body slain, sweet Jesus, Thine—
And bathed in its own blood—
While the firm mark of wrath divine,
His Soul in anguish stood.

Refrain

Was it for crimes that I had done
He groaned upon the tree?
Amazing pity! grace unknown!
And love beyond degree!

Refrain

Well might the sun in darkness hide
And shut his glories in,
When Christ, the mighty Maker died,
For man the creature's sin.

Refrain

Thus might I hide my blushing face
While His dear cross appears,
Dissolve my heart in thankfulness,
And melt my eyes to tears.

Refrain

But drops of grief can ne'er repay
The debt of love I owe:
Here, Lord, I give my self away
'Tis all that I can do.

Refrain

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.

Vernon, we have the hymn you were looking for in our hymn library so I posted it for you above.  It is a great old hymn.

I have had a very busy day after having a down day yesterday.  I had to leave coffee at the cafe early to get to the County Senior Center to coach a class in Microsoft Word that started at 9 am.  It wasn't over until 11 am.  I then stopped at the library to pick up a couple of items Pat had requested, the grocery store for a few items and then it was noon before I got home.  I then went with Pat to the church where she was meeting her quilting group to work on putting on the backing for some lap quilts they have made that they will be giving to someone who needs one.  I had Calvin Cove so took my laptop to do some work on until it was time to sing and then again while I was waiting for her to get through.  We didn't get home until about 4 pm.  So needless to say I didn't have any time to rest today and am feeling it tonight.

Janet, my daughter's name is Stacey.  Sorry to hear that the operation you had on your eyes now appears not to have been the best thing to do.  It seems that we have lots of things that turn out that way.  It seems the thing to do but later is found not to be so good.  How do you ever keep up with multiple pairs of glasses?  Enjoy your time with Abby.

Teresa Dawn, I have never heard debit cards called anything but debit cards here in the USA.

Pat, are you able to submit your Avon orders over the computer?

Tbear, hope you get that call for employment.  It sounds like you were pleased with the interview process.

Karma, I well remember the Mandrell Sisters TV show and Louise always seemed very sweet, as did the other two.  Barbara is one of my favorite singers.

There are many I should comment to tonight but don't have the energy left after this long day.  Tomorrow should be a lot quieter.

Pat

Thanks Larry for posting that wonderful hymn and thanks so much Vernon for asking about it and Papa John for posting a bit of it and the rest of you!  It's a great hymn.  I have it playing now as I'm typing this message.

Yes, Larry, I do my whole Avon order online now.  They just started a new thing though that it must be online by 11 pm (last night) or we're charged a fine.  So I checked and it was 10:58 pm when I submitted!  So we'll see!   :clobber:

Yes, Judy, I'd sure like to live that close to Al and Marbeth as well.  Last night when I couldn't sleep, I again enjoyed just reading my Bible along with the wonderful devotional in our Songs of Worship area all written by Al.   <3

I'm giggling at you Anthony.  Hope you don't mind.  It was your comment about wondering about Tuna Loaf (Which I hope that Marilyn will post as I'd also like to have it).

Have you had Meat Loaf, Salmon Loaf, etc.  all baked in the oven in a loaf pan and then cut into slices to have on your plate with your veggies and maybe some gravy?  That's the kind of loaf we're talking about.

Ruth Ann Bice

I know I'm risking a "bonk" on the head, but here I am, a bit tired after working 10.5 hours today, but deadlines are deadlines and don't wait for people that take half a day off to be sick. Heavens forbid!!!

At any rate, I had a nice long conversation with the boss that was dealing with this tight deadline (he's actually been meeting with his client all week long and must present my work no later than tomorrow morning at 10:00). He wants to swing by Nashville with his client simply so the man can meet me. Now, friends, that's really humbling to me. A person with so many faults and frailties, and he's proud enough of me to bring him here. And, most definitely, it's not "just around the corner" - one of them is from Detroit and the other is from upstate New York. To quote a friend, "Makes me feel just about tall enough to walk upright underneath a dime."

I'm praising God about a matter I've been wrestling with and worrying about for many years. He has provided me with someone who can help, and, thanks be to Him, she's a christian and prays about her work.

Y'all have a good evening.

Ruth Ann
...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Pat

Ruth Ann, that's awesome.

I know that you work so hard and I really believe that your superiors are realizing this.  Enjoy your time with them.
