JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Morning Devotional...

There shall be no more death.
Revelation 21:4

Death is a prolific enemy. Each day more than 150,000 people pass into eternity—55 million per year!

Many leave behind sorrowing relatives, dependent children and, sometimes, a trail of disaster. Many hope that death is the end, forgetting that after death is the judgement.

But as believers we can look forward to the time when death will be no more.

Through Calvary, death was destroyed and will, as the last enemy, be cast into the lake of fire.

What a day that will be when death and all its accompanying heartaches are gone!

Words and Music: Jim Hill

There is coming a day,
When no heart aches shall come,
No more clouds in the sky,
No more tears to dim the eye,
All is peace forever more,
On that happy golden shore,
What a day, glorious day that will be.

What a day that will be,
When my Jesus I shall see,
And I look upon His face,
The One who saved me by His grace;
When He takes me by the hand,
And leads me through the Promised Land,
What a day, glorious day that will be.

There'll be no sorrow there,
No more burdens to bear,
No more sickness, no pain,
No more parting over there;
And forever I will be,
With the One who died for me,
What a day, glorious day that will be.

What a day that will be,
When my Jesus I shall see,
And I look upon His face,
The One who saved me by His grace;
When He takes me by the hand,
And leads me through the Promised Land,
What a day, glorious day that will be.

Hey there y'all ...  :D

Thanks, Pat, for What A Day That Will Be ... I can remember singing that so often when things were closing in on me -- in the past.  God is so good

Yup, I was calling Ms Nita last night ... Just so happens we often find each other on CallWave.  hmmm   Anyway I was invited (for the second time) to a senior Pot Blessing at a nearby church.  The church sent a bus to our park to pick up several of us who were attending this once a month event.  It was enjoyable and fun to be with fellow christian friends.

Tomorrow -- Today -- Saturday I will be going to a Bible Study/Fellowship with some of my friends from the church we all attended and has since been closed.  Then, on Sunday, we will be singing at the Nursing Home again.  I so love to be with these friends and to have the fellowship and worship that has been missing in our lives for a while.

I had an email from Joy saying that Bryan is excited to be working in landscaping and that he thinks he has also gotten the job at the gym he had wanted.  His father is paying to have his truck fixed and for a year's insurance so ... things are looking up for our guy Bry.  Keep praying for him.  This PTSD is not something that is easily remedied but our God is ABLE and I know Bryan truly believes in His power to heal and restore all that the cancor worm has destroyed.

Take care all y'all ... I love each and everyone of you and am continuing in prayer for all your ailments and concerns.

See y'all later ... I gotta get to bed now.
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

G'mornin' y'all.  Shopping day.  Gotta drive into Eureka to Winco (discount grocery).  Also laundry day - Marbeth gets to sit in the laundry room for a couple of hours to read and monitor the washing machine/dryer.

Liz - I know what you mean when you speak of chiropracters not being able to do anything for your ailment.  It is commonly believed among most chiropracters that you can't do anything for slipped or ruptured discs.  However, I ran into a thing called "Vertical-axial decompression" (VAX-D for short).  I'd like to urge you to at least look into it.  Go to google or other search engine, and type in VAX-D.  They're actually able to get your vertebrae to grow new discs!  I've been in contact with one or two very good chiropracters who endorse it, though it isn't something with which all are acquainted.  Can't hurt to look into it.

By the way, for anyone who's interested, I'm reediting the Romans study, so it's hopefully a little better and a little more readable.

Good Morning  on a chilly sunny Saturday!

Everything was covered with a hard frost when I got up and now the sun is melting it.  Almost looks like things are burning with all the "smoke" swirling from the leaves and plants and "things".

I have to drive my little Avon book delivery girl around this morning to deliver my brochures and do some tidying up outside around the deck, etc.  so I might be scarce.

Again, a big warm welcome to Talj!

Well Good Morning to everyone who will be here today and all that have already been here.

My friend Kitty from  the desert called last night for prayer for one of her clients, so I prayed right here int he living room where the g-kids were listening, when we started to pray for the children  forest  said to add their cat, my dogs, their parents etc. So good they were really listening. When I got off the phone they want to know if I was really talking to Jesus, I explained to them that it was my friend on the phone not Jesus but that we were praying together so we were both talking to Jesus.

When they were ready to go to bed I knelt down on the floor with them and prayed for them again and they added the ones they wanted to add when I was done praying they both said amen.

They also listened while I had my devotional time with the Lord this morning and I will pray for them again before they leave with their other grandparents this afternoon. We prayed for Forest's team to win the soccer game today as it is their last game.

Lovely devotional and music.  Thanks Pat.

No rain today....so far.  We are so fortunate here on the island.  I simply find the terrible weather problems happening in the world beyond comprehension.  How does one even know how to cover such happenings in prayer?

Thanks for the information, Pastor Al.  Unfortunately, I have damage from both Arthritis & Osteoporosis and that won't respond to such treatment.  Even massage or Physio is not possible now as it creates more problems. Information reads:

This type of treatment is not recommended for people with degenerative or unstable spine conditions, nor for those who have rotator cuff or shoulder problems.

I am going for a scan on Tuesday and that should show more of the problem that was in the X Rays....tho' that was enough, thanks!  As soon as possible, I will get back out walking again.

Misty knows I am in the recliner and comes in at night to have a sleep on my lap and Squeek comes down early in the morning for a hug and her tuna.  Then one of the kids show up, etc., etc.  So I am a blessed lady and God is Good.

Amanda is doing well in her job and all signed up for college in the fall of 2006.  She has become so mature and responsible.  Quite proud of my granddaughter.  I will continue to pray for Bryan, Jane.  What a terrible time those young people are having....

Welcome talj.  I hope that you will come and post so everyone can learn about your life.

Have a great day and God Bless.

Liz

CHANGE NOT THY FAITH WITH CHANGING TIMES

karmat

Today would have been my daddy's 65th birthday. :(

Not real busy here.  We are getting ready to go to the Fall Festival at the church with the kids.  Then, back home.  I kinda like just hanging out at my house.  We are so busy, so much, that a little down time is good.

Gotta get ready to go.  Laters!

A Little Girls wish

A little girl stood near a small church from which she had been turned away because it was "too crowded."

"I can't go to Sunday School," she sobbed to the pastor as he walked by.

Seeing her shabby, unkempt appearance, the pastor guessed the reason and, taking her by the hand, took her inside and found a place for her in the Sunday school class. The child was so happy that they found room for her, and she went to bed that night thinking of the children who have no place to worship Jesus

Some two years later, this child lay dead in one of the poor tenement buildings. Her parents called for the kindhearted pastor who had befriended their daughter to handle the final arrangements.

As her poor little body was being moved, a worn and crumpled red purse
was found which seemed to have been rummaged from some trash dump.

Inside was found 57 cents and a note, scribbled in childish handwriting,
which read: "This is to help build the little church bigger so more children
can go to Sunday School."

For two years she had saved for this offering of love   When the pastor tearfully read that note, he knew instantly what he would do. Carrying this note and the cracked, red pocketbook to the pulpit, he told the story of her unselfish love and devotion.

He challenged his deacons to get busy and raise enough money for the
larger building.

But the story does not end there...

A newspaper learned of the story and published It. It was read by a
wealthy realtor who offered them a parcel of land worth many thousands.

When told that the church could not pay so much, he offered to sell it to
the little church for 57 cents.

Church members made large donations. Cheques came from far and wide.

Within five years the little girl's gift had increased to $250,000.00--a huge sum for that time (near the turn of the century). Her unselfish love had paid large dividends.

When you are in the city of Philadelphia, look up Temple Baptist Church, with a seating capacity of 3,300. And be sure to visit Temple University, where thousands of students are educated.

Have a look, too, at the Good Samaritan Hospital and at a Sunday School building which houses hundreds of beautiful children, built so that no child in the area will ever need to be left outside during Sunday school time.

In one of the rooms of this building may be seen the picture of the sweet face of the little girl whose 57 cents, so sacrificially saved, made such remarkable history. Alongside of it is a portrait of her kind pastor, Dr. Russell H. Conwell, author of the book, "Acres of Diamonds".

This is a true story, which goes to show WHAT GOD CAN DO WITH 57 CENTS.

Wonderful news, Karen!  Thanks be to our Father.

That is an absolutely beautiful story of the little girl and her 57 cents, Pat.  I have to admit having shed a tear when reading it.

Check this out. http://www.snopes.com/glurge/57cents.asp It isn't true.

Actually, there is some truth to it.  There was a little girl turned away from the church.  She did earnestly seek to raise the money, and did die (I think it said 2 years later) haveing only raised 57 cents.  From there the pastor was able to basically start the building program, but that is about the only role the  little girl had in it.  So, the elaborated story is a bit exaggerated, but there is a kernal of the truth in there.

karmat

Sorry, it was a few weeks, not two years.

Carol

It is good to see CP up and running once more.

Pat:  How great that you are doing better.

Ruth Ann:  Here I am, griping about my $454 dollar dental cleaning bill and you have a huge plumbing bill & even have to leave the house.  I certainly hope that they do a perfect job and it never needs another repair!

We are going to a service in less than an hour so I had best be changing from jeans to something else.

Carol

Hi everyone.  I was able to get my laptop back from the repair shop today.  They did some software tweaking apparently as my icons in the taskbar were gone but now I have the sound back.

I worked with my good friend Rod, and a fellow over in Hunstville, Alabama to check out a new feature that works with Skype.  It is called Festoon and it provides video with the audio being provided by Skype.  We were trying to get a three-way conference call going and had some success.

My Georgia football team just lost of Florida.  My friends are going to be very sad.  Janet, I see that Kansas State also lost today.

Karen, congratulations on your new job and I hope you will really enjoy it.

A belated Happy Birthday to Kathy.  I also want to welcome all of our new members.

Karmat and Nards, hope your Fall Festival at your church was most enjoyable.

Liz, sorry to see that you are having so much pain, as is your daughter.

Al, we have the Vax-D available in our area.

Marilyn, glad you had such a nice time with your grandchildren.

Pat, I don't think we have had a hard frost yet, although the last couple of nights we have been under a frost advisory.  I just noticed it is getting pretty chilly so maybe tonight will be the night.

Jane and Nita, the Call Wave is a very neat little program.  We have used it in the past.  One of the nice things about the DSL is that it doesn't tie up the phone.

Etta Sue, hope the band event went well.  I am sure that must be quite a show they can put on.

Janet, hope you got a lot done on your painting.  It sounds like you saved your money at the lingerie show you attended.  I think they have those type of parties around here also.

Anthony, glad to read that your mother should be able to return home in a few days.

Let's be sure and remember to reset our clocks tonight.

Ruthie

Hi Everybody,  All down my street are houses dressed up for Halloween.  What a joke!   Cobwebs all over the trees and spooks on the lawn.   How ridiculous! And they will be on long after halloween.

I was at a craft show last week and one of the booths had a sign  that said "Merry Whatever"   I was upset and said "Don't you have any signs that say "Merry Christmas".   The guy said "Oh there's not any such thing anymore"   I said "Oh yeh"  "Christmas is Jesus' Birthday and it's too bad that all the people who don't believe in Jesus and don't care about His Birthday, sure like getting a holiday on His Birthday!"    He was then on the defence and was blaming the people who come into our country.   But I thought that I would not buy a thing from his booth if he can't stand up for the right thing.

The world is getting worse and turning upside down!

Love Ruthie

The Lord is my light and my salvation Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
Ps. 27:1

Thanks Karma...  Glad that there was a kernel of truth.  LOL

Hi Everyone

Just want to say thank you so much for your great welcome to this site!!

In answer to a question I was asked I became a Christian after attending an Alpha Course at my local Baptist church in October 2003. I was baptised on 11th January 2004 and have loved every minute of getting to know the Lord! I have had a few struggles the past couple of months and wandered away from my church but went back for the first time last sunday and hope to be going again this Sunday :)

I look forward to chatting to you all and getting to know you better.

God Bless
