JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

Get Rid of the Frogs

"When shall I intreat for thee, and for thy servants, and for thy people, to destroy the frogs from thee and thy houses?"
(Exodus 8:9)

Have you ever wrestled with one of those problems that stubbornly refuses to go away? It seems to be immune to all solutions. You swat at the thing in every conceivable way, but instead of being eliminated, it expands and multiplies until it's wildly out of control.

An Egyptian pharaoh faced just that kind of problem, the Bible tells us, thousands of years ago. He was in a hot dispute with God over the future of the Israelites, and as a result of that dispute, he woke up one morning to find his country swarming with frogs. Slimy, smelly, hopping-all-over-the-place frogs.

It was a serious problem. I'm not talking about a frog or two in the front yard. I mean frogs were everywhere--in their beds, on their tables. Big old frogs in the ovens. Little bitty frogs in the bread dough and the drinking water. Frogs. Frogs in your hair. Frogs in places you wouldn't even want to think about!

Then God made a move. He sent His man Moses in to Pharaoh to ask, "When shall I entreat the Lord to get these frogs out of here?"

Do you know what Pharaoh said?

"Tomorrow." Can you imagine that? He could have said, "Right now! Today!" But instead he decided he'd spend one more night among the frogs.

You say, "That's the stupidest thing I ever heard. Why in the world would he do it tomorrow?" I don't know. Probably for the same reason you want to wait until tomorrow to get saved or healed or prosperous.

Here's what I want you to notice. When Moses asked Pharaoh that question and he answered, "Tomorrow," Moses said, "All right. So that you know there's a God in heaven, BE IT DONE UNTO YOU ACCORDING TO YOUR WORDS."

Let me ask you this: How long are you willing to let that persisting problem harass you? When are you going to get rid of the frogs in your life? Do you realize they'll stay around as long as you'll let them? They'll be there until you finally make a quality decision to go with the Word of God and get them out.

Why don't you do it today?

A good devotional, Janet.  I wonder why we let things hang around and on us for so long?  I'll have to think about that.

I posted some pics in the gallery.  Of course, one of them is of Ty and Rocko. :)

I've been in bed already, and can't sleep, so got up.  That seems to be pretty common around here, eh? haha

I have a weather thing on my isp's home page and noticed that there was a red ALERT for Coos Bay.  I checked it out and the date is wrong!  The forcast is for a high wind warning, but the date is November 3.  Even the days are wrong.  I guess someone messed up. :)  Sure not windy here now.  It's cool tonight.  Weatherman says 39, but then again they don't know the date, so how can I believe them. lol

Pat, I see you've been "shouting" hi to me, but I never see it in time. Sorry. Anyway.....HI BACK TO YOU. Sorry I shouted outside the box.  :)

Maybe I'm getting sleepy.....maybe.  OH!!  I forgot to tell you. (actually I tried, but lost my post) I'm going to get my plumbing fixed for free on Saturday!!  I'm so blessed.  A group from my daughter and sil's church meets at their home Sunday eve for home group.  They guys wanted to find a way to serve in helps, and Kim mentioned my house and my needs.  They came up.....all 5 guys.....on Sunday afternoon, and checked it out and will be back to dig and prep on Friday, and then again to get it all done on Saturday.One of the guys is a plumber, and the rest will be his helpers.   My son in law is even paying for all the supplies.  Isn't that neat?  I feel very cared for. I just had to share that with you.

Ruth Ann.....I know my plumbing is not as extensive as yours.  I was thinking how you will have to be gone for a couple of days when yours gets fixed.  They say they can do it all in one day.  I hope so.  We'll see, huh?  I'm glad they're willing to do it.

ok.  Now back to the sleepy thing.  I are there.     love, nita

Ed

Well here it is...shortly after 4 AM.  I am working the elections today and had intended to rise at 5 AM.  Somehow the time on my clock got switched an hour ahead.  So here I am.

I usually click on CP every day, but somehow in my favorites CP got moved to another favorite site which had about 50 different sites embedded in it. I ran across it yesterday and moved it back in the correct position.  Now when I get on this thng, I see it once again.

Nita

Hi, Ed.  Glad you have your favorites figured out and CP back in the right place.

I still can't sleep.  I got out of bed again, laid down on the couch, trying to sneak up on sleep.....but it didn't work.  My mind just wouldn't shut off.

Morning Has Broken
(Click to hear music)

Morning has broken, like the first morning
Blackbird has spoken, like the first bird
Praise for the singing, praise for the morning
Praise for the springing fresh from the world

Sweet the rain's new fall, sunlit from heaven
Like the first dewfall, on the first grass
Praise for the sweetness of the wet garden
Sprung in completeness where his feet pass

Mine is the sunlight, mine is the morning
Born of the one light, eden saw play
Praise with elation, praise every morning
God's recreation of the new day

Well I am pretty late today.  Thanks for the devotional Janet.  I think I've got a frog on my lap at the moment - or maybe it's a cat  :-\

I haven't got much to say today but I do find it strange how so many people are finding it difficult to go to sleep.  I was awake until about 2.30 this morning.

Have a great day everyone and see y'all later.

Anthony.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  Nothing much new here.  I went to coffee at the cafe, as usual, and now have worked up my e-mail and read the devotional and the postings since I was here yesterday.  Good to see all the postings.

Tomorrow is the day my daughter has to go to court.  She called yesterday and the fine could be as much as $700 or a year in jail.  I certainly don't want her in jail so Mom and Pat as paying this fine also.  I am very doubtful that the judge will find her story credible, although it is as far as I know.  I will go to court with her in the morning as really don't want to turn over this much cash to her.

Janet, it seems just too much that you are having to do all this cleaning on a second mobile home.  Hope you all don't make yourself ill with all of this cleaning.  Thanks for the devotional.

Nita, it is nice to hear that the church folks are going to help you and your son-in-law pick up the out-of-pocket expenses.

Ruth Ann, I don't think we knew that your truck needed repair.

Ed, we have some local elections in Georgia today but none for where I live.  Most of them are local for cities.

Marilyn, the soup sounds good.

Sue, good to see you posting.  Glad you have found your church and are able to attend regularly.

Papa John, we had very nice weather here yesterday and again today.  Our senior group was going on a leaf tour of the North Georgia mountains and they have a truly beautiful day for the trip.

Anthony, good decision about the nervous breakdown.  :)

Etta Sue, I was pretty sure you wouldn't have been impacted by the big tornado in Indiana.  It was a good idea to document your procedures both for your church and what you do at home.  I often do that same thing for things I only do periodically, especially with some of my webpage work.

Marilyn

The sun is out today Praise the Lord. Now I can get out back where I have all my  tubs stored under the tarp and get some netting out to make scrub pads for gifts. and check to make sure nothing is getting wet.

I am learning how to make stationery using HTML code , however I am not writing the HTML code yet it is provided in the lessons. So I took some time this morning to complete a lesson before I came back here.

Janet good devotional on the frogs in our lives.

Anthony Howdy, are located anywhere near Coleshill. I think that is in the Midlands area. ???

Larry that court date for your daughter is that the on that is two hours away?

Nita I hope you sleep better. I too have some sleep problems from time to time. It seems that when I do sleep well I wake up with a terrible headache. I am wondering if I have sleep apnea as that is one of the symptoms and I also get up about 4 times  during the night.

Well got to finish getting ready for work.

Right now my problem is not getting to sleep but it is waking up very early and not being able to go back to sleep.  This morning I was up at 4:00.

Janet, a good devotional.  Procrastination is a universal problem.  It is so easy to put things off until tomorrow and this poses two problems.  When tomorrow comes we may not do it.  And tomorrow it may be too late.

Good to see Anthony, Marilyn, Ed, Pat, Nita. and Larry.      ::)

James 4:13-17
13   Now listen, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money."
14   Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.
15   Instead, you ought to say, "If it is the Lord's will, we will live and do this or that."
16   As it is, you boast and brag. All such boasting is evil.
17   Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought to do and doesn't do it, sins.
(NIV)

Pat, yes, this program I have for calendars will allow you to put your own photos on them.  I might make one for myself with the girls as the photos.

Marilyn, do you crochet the netting into scrub pads after cutting the netting into strips?  My mother used to make them like we made pompoms/flowers out of kleenex and tie them with quilting thread.  They were great scrubbers too.  Even worked on your car tires and great for the surface of your car to get tar and such off.  Didn't scratch.

I got my car maintenanced today.  Done for another 3,000 miles.  My 3½ year old car has 48,000 on it.  And I haven't worked during that time.

Yes I am crocheting the scrub pads. My car is due to be maintenenced soon it is 18 years old and has 66,000+ miles on it not yet at 67,000 that is when the  maintenence is due.  ;)

Papa Jan that is what happens to me too, I wake up every early and am unable to go back to sleep yesterday it was 4:45 today it was 4:15.

G'Morning ... There was FROST here this morning!    :o

My son-in-law (Joy's husband) is now an "official old guy" (his words).  His daughter just presented him with his first grandchild.  The baby was born on Saturday and today we get five photos of her birth and her parents ... John says "millions more to follow."  He says he will most certainly be one of those stodgy oldsters who talk incessantly about the world's most amazing grandchild!  ;D

I was reminded yesterday about my aging self ... Got a letter telling that "since I have reached the age of 70 ½ I am required to take a total distrbution from the ESOP fund from my former employer.  I was shocked  :o  I really am 70 going on 35, y'know.  ::)

Nita that's really great about getting your plumbing done.  :thumbsup:  My neighbor goes to the same church as Kim and this morning he checked out what I thought might be a problem with my car ... said it looks like it's nothing to worry about but he will keep an eye on it for me.  So nice to know there's someone keeping tabs on me.

I have stuff to do that I should get busy with so ... here I go ........................ See y'all later.
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Janet

Hi Kids!

I am ready to go to Hugoton to do the talk about Scuba diving.  I wanted to call Beth first (she left me a message to call her) but she apparently is not in her room.  Must be doing rehab exercises.......

I didn't work on the trailer today, too many other things pressing on me.  I will get with it again tomorrow.  On Friday I have to drive to Dodge for a family meeting on Beth; they want to tell us how she's doing and what to expect, I guess.  I surely don't want to go to Dodge on Friday because I have to go to Great Bend on Saturday, and Dodge is halfway there.  Sigh............

Larry, I hope your daughter's fine is not nearly that high.  I'll be thinking about you.

See you folks later!

Papa John

Jane, you don't look 70.  When you reached that landmark you joined the 70 group.  I am in that group too and I think Al is too (?).  In another year and a half, if I am still here I will move up to the 80 group.  If the Lord wills.

Marilyn, sorry you have that same problem of waking up early.  One reason for me is my aching back.  I wake up and can't get comfortable so I get up and get in my recliner and sometimes I can get back to sleep.  If not I will read for awhile and then watch the morning news.

Ps 90:10 The length of our days is seventy years-- or eighty, if we have the strength; yet their span is but trouble and sorrow, for they quickly pass, and we fly away.

Anthony

It has been good to read all of the posts tonight.  Marilyn, you asked about Coleshill; it is very close to where I live. If you want to take a look there is an album on pbase devoted to it, here's the link:

http://www.pbase.com/beppuu/coleshill

Papa John, I have suffered with a similar back-pain in the early hours.  There isn't any position that feels comfortable.  I hope your sleep improves.

God bless all.

Anthony.

You've all had a nice day it sounds like.  I have to go to a lady's home for awhile but I'll be back.

Anthony, hope you have a good sleep tonight.

I am wishing everyone here has a very good night of sleeping.  It sure improves my brain when I can sleep.

Marilyn

Thank Anthony for the link to Coleshill. I enjoyed seeing the photos at pBase. and I have emailed a link to another friend who lives near there. Some day I would like to take a trip to the UK and visit Coleshill and my friend. However my finances may not permit that for years to come.    :xox:

Hello Jane: Don't we all have the most amazing grandchild in the world, I know I do. :xox:

Stillhave a slight headache I pray that tomorrow mornigh I do not wake up with  one.

TTYL Got to go heat up a bowl of that  soup.

He Lives
(Click to hear music)

Words & Music: Alfred H. Ackley, 1887-

I serve a risen Savior, He's in the world today;
I know that He is living, whatever men may say;
I see His hand of mercy, I hear His voice of cheer,
And just the time I need Him, He's always near.

Refrain
He lives, He lives, Christ Jesus lives today!
He walks with me and talks with me along life's narrow way.
He lives, He lives, salvation to impart!
You ask me how I know He lives?
He lives within my heart.

In all the world around me I see His loving care,
And though my heart grows weary, I never will despair;
I know that He is leading thru all the stormy blast,
The day of His appearing will come at last.

Refrain

Rejoice, rejoice, O Christian, lift up your voice and sing
Eternal hallelujahs to Jesus Christ the King!
The Hope of all who seek Him, the Help of all who find,
None other is so loving so good and king.

Refrain

HYMN HISTORY:

Rev. Alfred Ackey (1887-1960) was preaching during an evangelistic crusade. After the service he was trying to persuade a young man to give his heart to Christ, when the man said, "Why should I worship a dead Jew?" Ackey stated, "HE LIVES! I tell you, He is not dead, but lives here and now! Jesus Christ is more alive today than ever before. I can prove it by my own experience, as well as the testimony of countless thousands." Later that evening the young man gave his heart to Christ. It was during this experience that Ackey wrote not only the words but also the tune for our hymn, "He Lives."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I serve a risen Savior, He's in the world today;
I know that He is living, whatever men may say;
I see His hand of mercy, I hear His voice of cheer,
And just the time I need Him He's always near.
In all the world round me I see His loving care, And tho my heart grows weary I never will despair;
I know that He is leading thru all the stormy blast,
The day of His appearing will come at last.
Rejoice, rejoice, O Christian, lift up your voice and sing
Eternal hallelujahs to Jesus Christ the King!
The hope of all who seek Him, the help of all who find,
None other is so loving, so good and kind.
He lives, He lives, Christ Jesus lives today!
He walks with me and talks with me along life's narrow way.
He lives, He lives, salvation to impart!
You ask me how I know He lives?
He lives within my heart.
Ruth Ann Bice
So many of you have been really kind about my money woes. Somehow the Lord will provide. My truck repairs will cost almost $950 and the plumbing (which was finished today, Nita) cost upwards of $5,400. So, I'm afraid it might be a bit of a lean Christmastime around our house. That kind of money is hard to come by.
I was so exhausted last night that I sat in the recliner (can't lie down for 3 hrs after eating because of the reflux disease) as soon as I left CP. My son awakened me to go to bed at 10 pm, and he had to awaken me this morning at 7! So, I really was tired.
Today, though I feel much better.
Papa John, thank you for the beautiful Bible passages you bring to us. And many thanks for our leaders who do the setups for NEM each day. May God richly bless each of you.
And, I love all who post here. May his blessing be heaped upon you tonight.
Ruth Ann
...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.
Mega dittoes to what Pat said, from me, Ruth Ann!  That IS a lot of money.  I will be praying that God will provide in unexpected ways.
I didn't have a good night again last night.  Woke up at 2 and stayed awake until after 6, and got up at 7.   :-\
I'm just home from giving my talk about Scuba.  There was a roomful of ladies there, and they had lots of questions.  Know what they were most impressed with?  The fact that I can carry that heavy gear!  :lol:   :cool:
I got to Hugoton about 3:30, so when Abby got to the store, she and I went to their house and fixed supper for her parents.  They really appreciated it.  I asked Diane if she would like to have a cook every evening, and of course she said YES!  We did chicken breasts, baked sweet potatos and wilted lettuce salad, Abby's favorite.  Jeff must have thanked me at least six times, and then gave me a stack of tokens for the car wash.  Gotta love that son in law!  ;)
Anthony and Papa John, hope both of your backs feel better and allow you a good night's rest tonight.
We are having mega problems with the trailer repairs and renovation.  Being a landlord is NOT fun, in case any of you wonder.  :crazy:
I'm gong to look at the gallery a bit and then it's off to bed with me!
