Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

This do in remembrance of Me. . . This do ye. . . in remembrance of Me.
1 Corinthians 11:24-25

A number of years ago I had the privilege of watching the memorial service at the Cenotaph in Ottawa, Canada's capital city.

I was deeply moved to watch the soldiers remember their comrades who had died. This was not a celebration of victory but a remembrance of its cost. They stood in silence with tears streaming down their faces!

In a unique way, our Lord has requested that we remember Him by breaking bread and drinking the cup.

May we be faithful to remember the great cost to Him of our salvation.
--Jim Paul

May the Mind of Christ, My Saviour
(Click to hear music)

Let this mind be in you,
which was also in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 2:5

Author:  Kate B. Wilkinson, 20th Century
Musician:  Arthur C. Barham-Gould, 1891-1953

May the mind of Christ, my Saviour,
Live in me from day to day,
By His love and pow'r controlling
All I do and say.

May the Word of God dwell richly
In my heart from hour to hour,
So that all may see I triumph
Only through His pow'r.

May the peace of God, my Father,
Rule my life in ev'rything,
That I may be calm to comfort
Sick and sorrowing.

May the love of Jesus fill me,
As the waters fill the sea;
Him exalting, self abasing,
This is victory.

May I run the race before me,
Strong and brave to face the foe,
Looking only unto Jesus
As I onward go.

May His beauty rest upon me
As I seek the lost to win,
And may they forget the channel,
Seeing only Him.

Good devotional Pat.  Remembrance Day always reminds me of the hymn "Lest I forget Gethsemany" (SP?)

Yes, Pat a battery powered clock would do the trick for mornings like today.  Go ahead and order one for me.

It has been a day of blustery winds and snow squalls. Tonight is better but we are now into the wood furnace.  It is so much warmer than oil or electric.  I have to feed it soon before bed.

Well Have a good day folks.  The 11thh Friday is going to be a busy one for me.

Love to all

Good Morning Everyone...

It's a chilly day but I'm just going to leave soon for the service of remembrance at the armories and then to the Cenotaph later.

When I popped out to the gym this morning I did wonder if they would honour the two minutes silence.  I was glad that they did and that most of the customers stood in silence.j

Thank you for the devotional Pat, it was a good reminder of everything that the Lord has done for us all.

Hope everyone has a great day today and hope  to see you all later.

Anthony.

Papa John

Good morning.  We have beautiful sunshine today.  It is a cold 42 degrees but is going to get up in the 70's. Good to see you Pat and also Athony.

As we remember today the peace which finally came on that 11th of November so many years ago and as we think of Veterans who have fought in other conflicts we are reminded of how wonderful peace is.  We should pray for peace.

Even more wonderful is the peace we have with God.

Rom 5:1-2 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God.  (NIV)

Isaiah spoke of this great blessing which would come to us through Jesus Christ.

Isa 9:6  For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. (NIV)

Paul said that God's peace is beyond our understanding.

Phil 4:6-7  Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.  (NIV)

I hope you all have a good day today.

Papa John
Eph 2:8-9  For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-- and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-- not by works, so that no one can boast.(NIV)

The other day Janet said,

QuoteI managed to get to the gym today and had a full hour workout, so I am feeling terrible now    I can't think of anything more miserable than keeping fit    Anyway, I hope everyone has a great day today and see y'all later.

We're back from our trip, and so now we too have to go back to the fitness center.  It is indeed miserable to keep fit!  But we do thank our God for occasionally overcoming our laziness!

It's so wonderful to see MIEKA here!  O dear Mieka - come again, and again, and again....PLEASE!

Nita

Good morning everyone. :)

I'm sitting here with my second cup of coffee and ready to get up and get dressed.

I have a man coming at 9 to get a free monitor.  I'd placed it in a free ad paper and had forgotten it until he called last night.  It's a used one I picked up until the larger (refurbished)one came in.  It's been sitting on the floor, so it'll be nice to get that moved out.

Kim is coming too, and we're bathing dogs today.  That's always fun and time consuming.  They need baths bad.  Tomorrow we, me and the dogs, have to be gone all day for the plumbing guys to do their thing, so I didn't want them to be all scruffy and dirty looking..........wherever we go. I still am not sure. lol

My daughter is giving me her new computer, so I'll have that next week, plus Verizon has a deal for DSL for only $14.95 a month.  I figure by canceling Callwave and call forwarding on my phone, I can swing the difference.  I pay $8.95 now.  It'll be fun seeing the difference between that and dial up.  Mostly I want it so that my family can send pictures without making them so small and taking forever to download.

I know this is a day of remembrance for our veterans.  I'm not sure what they've planned locally.  I do know that this is also the date that Jim, my daughter's husband, was killed, one month ago.  I imagine this will be a hard day for her.  I called last night but didn't mention it, and she didn't either.  My sweet daughter is very strong.  I admire her so much.

Oh, Papa John, Paul was so right about God's peace being beyond our understanding.  And what comfort we have in knowing that beyond where we can see or touch or reach in our own understanding, He is holding us and keeping us safe.  No matter what happens here on this earth, everything is held together by His love.  Just to say I am HIS.......is the sweetest thing I can ever hope to know.

mieka

Veterns Day...no mail.  I won't have to walk to the mailbox today.

I have been having some pain in my hip for a week or so.  My sciatic nerve.  Seems worse when I first get up in the mornings so last night I slept in the little bed.  Didn't help much...besides I was too hot.  So I am continuing the Ibuproen and back exercise.  That helps.

Nice and sunny today but only 49°F.  Not much wind so it does make you 'think' it is warmer than it is.

Hi MIeka!!!  Did you lose your post?  So sad,  :'( too bad ...no get mad!! :clobber: :tickedoff:

God Bless You All

Just a post of the Rememberance Day Poem and Song.
Take a moment at 11:11 11/11/05

Written By Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, MD (1872-1918)
Canadian Army
In Flanders Fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

Song by Bob Dylan

How many roads must a man walk down
Before you call him a man?
Yes, 'n' how many seas must a white dove sail
Before she sleeps in the sand?
Yes, 'n' how many times must the cannon balls fly
Before they're forever banned?
The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind,
The answer is blowin' in the wind.

How many times must a man look up
Before he can see the sky?
Yes, 'n' how many ears must one man have
Before he can hear people cry?
Yes, 'n' how many deaths will it take till he knows
That too many people have died?
The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind,
The answer is blowin' in the wind.

How many years can a mountain exist
Before it's washed to the sea?
Yes, 'n' how many years can some people exist
Before they're allowed to be free?
Yes, 'n' how many times can a man turn his head,
Pretending he just doesn't see?
The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind,
The answer is blowin' in the wind.

Amen to what Al just said to Mieka!   <3

Hi MIEKA!  The "All Natural Pest Elimination" treatment doesn't hurt the bugs, it treats the wood and makes it distasteful for them to be here.   :D  It is not good for termites to live in or near my house ... they can find their own place in the trees up on the hill.  The people are going to treat the roof today so the moss doesn't grow and cause problems.

Today at noon I will be attending the memorial service for my neighbor who died October 31.  She had just sold her place and moved to a retirement village in July.  She didn't have long to enjoy her new place.   :'(

NITA~You can come over here tomorrow!   ;D

Hi Teresa Dawn ... I love that poem.  We used to have to memorize it when I was in school <long, long ago   :-[>

My Dad was in the US Army in World War I ...  I've had other family members in the military service during other wars and conflicts as well.  God bless all the troops and their families.

Wel never had to memorize it, but we often recited it in assemblies with the words on screen.  Also it is printed on the Canadian five dollar bill.

Col. John McCrae was born in Guelph.  I was at his home today after the Remembrance Day Services in the city centre and took a few more photos.  There were wreaths at the museum (his childhood home).  He went to GVCI High School here in town before he left for medical school.

Thanks Teresa Dawn for putting in the poem today.  It's a good one for sure.

Ohh, Mi!  I love you too~!  You are such a wonderful addition to all of our lives.  Keep posting.  None of your posts could ever be a "snore" as you call it.  I just wish they were longer as Al Moak suggests.

I'm glad you told Kitty about us.  Now what about your other friend?

You should post in the Shoutbox and we can put a link to the Introductions in there and to NEM in there.

There's a good place to get a long URL (address) made shorter so it will be clickable in the Shoutbox and that's http://tinyurl.com  Just put your long URL in the box, click on "create tiny url" and voila! you have a short one and it can be used in the shoutbox.

Talk to you in awhile.  I must get a :cup: of tea.

DOES JESUS CARE?
(Click to hear music)

Does Jesus care when my heart is pained
Too deeply for mirth or song,
As the burdens press, and the cares distress
And the way grows weary and long?

Refrain
Oh yes, He cares, I know He cares,
His heart is touched with my grief;
When the days are weary, the long nights dreary,
I know my Savior cares.

Does Jesus care when my way is dark
With a nameless dread and fear?
As the daylight fades into deep night shades,
Does He care enough to be near?

Refrain

Does Jesus care when I've tried and failed
To resist some temptation strong;
When for my deep grief there is no relief,
Though my tears flow all the night long?

Refrain

Does Jesus care when I've said "goodbye"
To the dearest on earth to me,
And my sad heart aches till it nearly breaks,
Is it aught to Him? Does He see?

Refrain

Mieka dear, your post was a sight for sore eyes.  This is just and American expression which means it was so nice to see it.  It wasn't too long at all.  We all love you.   <3

There was an interesting note in yesterday's email from our church.

"Karita Waters' grandparents have passed away. Her grandfather, Donald Parham, passed away on Wednesday, 11/9. He was 95. Her grandmother, Laura Parham, passed away on Thursday, 11/10. She was 92. They would have been married 73 years next month."

They were married 73 years.  He died one day and she died the next.  He was 95 and she 92.  After a long life they went to be with the Lord together.

Hi everyone.  This was a very, very busy day.

I went to the Senior Center at 7:15 this morning and we started preparing things for the program that began at 10 pm to honor the over 600 WW I veterans from this county.  We setup all the tables and chairs we have at the Senior Center.

The program began with the presentation of the colors (American flag and State of Georgia Flag) by one of the highschool ROTC units.  They did a very nice job.  Then an invocation was given and three ladies read the names of the over 600 veterans being honored.

We then were asked to move outside the Senior Center, which is too small to have the highschool concert band perform, and listened to them perform a 26 minute program of patriotic music.  At about 3 minutes to eleven the ROTC Unit paraded to the flag pole at the street and raised the flag and the National anthem was played by the band.  Then the flag was lowered to half mast and taps was played with an echo (i.e., each phrase was repeated by a second trumpet--very effective).  The honor guard then retired and the band continued its concert while folks returned to the Senior Center.  We then served a meal to those in attendance.

We had over 150 chicken sandwiches, potato chips, and baked beans with a piece of either pecan or lemon pie.  Everyone was fed and every sandwhich was used.  We fixed box lunches for the band and ROTC students and they just came into the center and picked up the meals and then went up to the park to eat.

It was a wonderful day.  I must admit that the patrotic music and the lowering of the flag brought tears to my eyes as it was very touching after having heard the many names read of the men and women who sacraficed so much for our freedom.  Oh that we never forget that sacrafice.

Pat and I then went to the county senior center where we had our PC User group meeting for November.  We had a very good turnout there and a manager from CompUSA came and presented the program and brought with him several very nice things that we gave as door prizes.

When I got home Pat and I both laid down and took a nap.

Glad to see everyone posting.

Hi, friends,

It's so good to see everyone - Kitty, Mieka, Papa John, Al, and so many other names.

Y'all really mean lots to me, and I'm thankful that you are who you are  and I have the privilege of being associated with each of you on line.

May God richly bless all who come this way.

I had my 6 month check up today on my eyes.  The dr. said that they had healed up very well and my eyesight is still at 20 - 15. PTL!  He released me unless I have a problem with my vision for just yearly check ups.  Bless God, I'm still excited about being able to see!

My mother in law has been home about a week.  She is still on a walker and most likely will be for the next 3 - 4 months or more.  But her spirits seem to be good.  She will definitely not be cooking Thanksgiving dinner this year. (We've been trying to get her to cut back and let us do the work, but she wouldn't hear of it!)

Bless all who pass this way this day, that the Lord may grant you all you need.

They dilated my eyes today so for about 3 hours I felt like this :o :o  LOL and had to walk around like this  8)
