Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
Revelation 20:15

Many places require your name to be written.

At birth our name is registered. Later it's found in bank records, legal papers and government documents.

Some names are inscribed on certificates of accomplishment, prestigious awards, trophies, and medals.

However, the only place where it really counts is the Book of Life. The moment you accept Christ Jesus as your personal Saviour, your name is written in Heaven.

Solemn indeed the issue, for those whose names are not written there are cast into the lake of fire.
—Jim Paul

Twas grace that wrote my name
in life's eternal book
Twas grace that brought me to the Lamb
who all my sorrows took.
Phillip Doddridge

Grace! 'Tis a Charming Sound
(Click to hear music)

Even when we were dead in sins,
hath quickened us together with Christ,
(by grace ye are saved;)
Ephesians 2:5

Author:  Philip Doddridge, 1702-1751; 1, 3
A. M Toplady, 1740-1778, 2, 4, 5
Musician:  Ira D. Sankey, 1840-1908

Grace! 'tis a charming sound,
Harmonious to the ear;
Heav'n with the echo shall resound,
And all the earth shall hear.

Refrain:
Saved by grace alone! this is all my plea:
Jesus died for sinful men, and Jesus died for me.

Grace first contrived a way
To save rebellious man;
And all the steps that grace display,
Which drew the wondrous plan.

Grace first inscribed my name
In God's eternal book;
'Twas grace that gave me to the Lamb,
Who all my sorrows took.

Grace turned my wand'ring feet
To tread the heav'nly road;
And new supplies each hour I meet,
While pressing on to God.

Grace taught my soul to pray,
And made my eyes o'erflow;
'Tis grace has kept me to this day,
And will not let me go.

O let Thy grace inspire
My soul with strength divine!
May all my pow'rs to Thee aspire,
And all my days be Thine.

Hey all.  Prayers appreciated here, I've been sick all day :(  Mostly slept all day and now I'm ready to go to bed again.  It's not really a flu, just I am really worn down, have a bad cold, and a super bad ear infection.

Al Moak

Oh Father, I pray for Theresa Dawn.  I pray You'll make her very aware of Your Presence and love.  I pray You'll give her peace and assurance, and I pray You'll touch her and give her Your wonderful wellness through Jesus our Lord.

Marilyn

Good Morning Late getting here this morning, I slept so good last night and didn't get up until 6:30. Which is at least an hour later than I usually get up.

Thank you Pat for the devotional.

Teresa Dawn I am praying for you here. I hope you are feeling better today. and that your Ear is much  better. I detest ear problems because they always make me so dizzy. I have been blessed that I haven't had a problem with my ear for a year now. The last time I was so dizzy i could even lift my head off the bed.

My  Mary Kay class last night was small only 3 of us but we had lots of fun and fellowship. My Tai Chi teacher came and got the full facial. I didn't do the make up this time. I received a beautiful coffee mug with the set of Hand stuff  for being the hostess. I got home at 9PM.

Today after work I want to try to get  my computer desk moved so I can finish unpacking and possibly get out some of the Christmas stuff and figure out where I am going to put it.

Mieka ~ Have I told you how great it is to see your smiley posts?  You say you get a giggle about things.  I say when I see your posts, my heart smiles.  You are an inspiration to many so keep it up, gal!

Jane ~ God Bless you today.  May he give you comfort and joy in everything you do.

TBear ~ When I clicked on your clickable, it turned out to be all white.  Was it a weather predictions...popularfront...and lots of snow in the future?  You don't start working until next month.  Oh, yes!  A new restaurant...probably not open yet.  Tell Kaylyn hello and not to work too hard.

Marilyn ~ Brrr!  57°F is cold and especially in your own house.  Did you get your electric fixed also and now your heater!  Hope your landlord is a good one.

Al ~ Our Bible Study of the Book of James tells me that you are not only saved by faith but with deeds as well.  Abraham had faith but his action showed God he truly had faith in God.  Rahab had faith even though she was a prostitute.  And her actions showed she had a change of heart.  When we truly have faith, the Holy Spirit gives us the ability and want to change and repent of our sins.  Oh, how I am enjoying our study on James.

Geri-Jean ~ True!  God's goodness is the same always.  God Bless You.

Janet ~ The saying, 'A woman work is never done' sure proves right with you.  Seems you no more than get one major job done until another comes along.  Even a pulled left hip flexor muscle doesn't stop you.

Pat ~ Our ground was covered with snow yesterday and even though it didn't get above freezing, the sun melted it except in the shadows.  Cold this morning here, too.  Only 27°F right now.  But no wind today, thank God.

AnnaBanana ~ I just realized you are in England.  I have a step-grandson and his family in England.  He is stationed in the Air Force.  His wife and two daughters are with him and expecting a 'Boy' in March.

Ruth Ann ~ I pray you have a safe trip to Atlanta and back.  You need an uneventful trip!

Ed ~ I hadn't heard 'Open the door, Richard' for a very long time.  Then I noticed that Pat closed the door and opened another.  Good observation!  And just what were you doing up so late?

Teresa Dawn ~ Get better soon.  It is a waste of time to be sick...think of all the fun things you could be doing if you weren't sick in bed!!

No much happening in my neck of the woods.  Just keeping warm, watching some TV, getting ready to go out to eat with Tony and Charlene tonight.  Need to go to the bank sometime.  That's it!

Janet

Etta Sue, good to see your colorful post this morning!  And how I wish I had a day like yours today; but no, it is more ceiling painting for me.  My hip flexor woke me up numerous times in the night, so Kristi says no weight bearing exercise till it heals.  She thinks I tore it, rather than just pulled it.  >:( Drat!  I don't have time for this.........I guess I need to learn to "be still and know......"

Teresa Dawn, do get well quick.  Too much life to live to spend time being sick, right?  I know I have no patience for being sick, so my prayer is that I stay well until I go home!

Pat, you were a night owl last night!  I went to bed before 9:30.  I went out to the car to go to bible study; turned around and came right back in the house.  I was just too tired, and I know I must start recognizing my limits, if I am to retain the excellent health I am blessed to have.  8)  So I hope you slept in this morning and are taking care of PAT.

Open the door, Richard!   :D  I hadn't thought of that song in ages!  Thanks for the grin, Ed.  :)

Marilyn, glad you had fun May Kay-ing.

I took Beth to therapy, and I went to exercise, but Kristi said no weight bearing stuff today, which I had anticipated.  So I had my swim suit, and I swam about 3/8 mile.  Would have swam more, but needed to do stretches, and knew Beth would be finished and waiting for me.  Then I took her to Alco for something, got gas and brought her home.  It is not getting any easier for me to get her into and out of the car and back up the ramp into her house.  And isn't this all just FASCINATING????  Sorry.........TMI!  :-[

Anyhow, now I have posted, and will get myself to town and paint those ceilings!!  As soon as I call to see what time my new couch is to be delivered.................

I went back to read the posts from yesterday after I had posted.

Yes I did get the electric fixed, one of the circuit breakers was not quite on all the way but the heater needs a new fan, the pilot had gone out too. So they have ordered a new fan for the heater and to my surprise they are coming Wednesday to install a screen door on the front of my house. Praise the Lord. I had mentioned that it would be nice to have one but I didn't ask them to put one on for me.

Time to go to Tai Chi now but first to get Happy inside the house. I will only be gone 1/2 day today.

Thanks all for the prayers.  The ear is still bothering me, but I do feel better than yesterday. :)

OPEN THE DOOR, RICHARD:  In a conversation with others, some word spoken jogs the memory and I break out in song.

The other night I looked for the closed door and it wasn't there....my way of having fun was to sing/type that song....wondering if anyone else would know it.  As I typed the words I was singing it in my head.

Another door song is "Green Door" what's that secret you're keepin...saw an eyeball peepin'...................

I have rearranged my living room to where I wanted it, I have my computer now behind the couch in the back half  next to my other desk. I did it all by myself, got tired of waiting on Gilbert to come help me.

Not too many people posting here so far today, everyone must be busy of out and about. It is a beautiful day here, A good day to be out in the yard doing things out there. Maybe I will go do some stuff out there for a change after I get rested from moving the furniture.

Thanks for that, Etta Sue.  How right it is!  We can ONLY show our faith by our works according to James.  But we gotta have the faith to even get to the works.
Well, we just got our water back on.  They were installing the pad for another mobilehome in our park here, and they broke a pipe.  So we were without for a while.  Sure get used to things like that.  Makes the absence of it all that more noticeable.
Thanks to our God, Who gives us the water of life freely - and there are no outages.

Mieka, I too am troubled by the fact that there are people who seem to be seeking God and do not find Him.  Sometimes it is because they are not looking in the right place.  The gospel of Christ is God's power to save.

Rom 1:16-17  For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.  For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.  (KJV)

When Peter preached the gospel in Acts 2  he said in verse 21  "And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.."  As he continued his lesson they were pricked in their hearts and asked what they should do.   In verse 38  Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit."  (NIV)  These people who had come to believe  wanted to know what to do to call on the name of the Lord.

They were saved by their faith when they heard the good news and put their faith in Jesus.  We should do the best we can to share the power of God, the gospel, with people we know who are seeking to know Him.

God bless you Mieka.

Papa John

Eph 2:8-9  For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-- and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-- not by works, so that no one can boast.(NIV)

Janet

Hmmm.........slow afternoon here on CP.

I got the ceilings finished!!!  YES!!!!  I am so happy to be finished with that job, and of course am tired and sore from it as well.  We only have a couple more small things to do and they can move in!  ;D

Our Ulysses Tigers are playing for Sub-State tonight here.  The lines for tickets were over two blocks long before 5 o'clock!  I will just listen to the game, or wait and find out later if we won.  One of our Senior boys was injured last week in the game.  Broke a rib (or two) and punctured his lung.  After the doctors got it inflated, it deflated again, so they were very concerned for him.  We prayed for him at church and I do pray he makes a full and speedy recovery.

Tomorrow is the celebration of my brother and sis in law's 50th wedding anniversary, so we are going to Colorado for that.

God bless!

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  Wow, this has really been a busy two days and I didn't even get to CP or SeniorNet yesterday to read messages so am trying to get caught up this evening.  I am planning on staying home most of the day tomorrow.  I think my friend is coming over to watch the football game with me again.

Yesterday I had a doctor's appointment that took all morning as it was about an hour away.  Shortly after I got back I had Calvin Cove and then tried to rest for awhile as last evening our SeniorNet Learning Center board went out to eat with our area representative at Macaroni Grill.  We had a very nice dinner and time to visit about what is happening in SeniorNet.

Then today we had a SeniorNet Luncheon to recognize the 10th anniversary of our computer learning center.  We had a dinner donated and catered by Outback, a live musician who played trumpet and sang with recorded music on very good speakers and it wasn't too loud.  We also had a very nice program recognizing the charter members of our learning center and those who have served as president of the group over these years.  Volunteer length of service pins were awarded and I got my 7 year pin even though I now have 8 years with the Learning Center.  It was just a very nice affair.

Pat, Etta Sue, Marilyn, and any of our other members from SeniorNet will be interested in the fact that the area representative shared with us that SeniorNet will be having another national meeting probably in October 2006 and it will probably be in Washington, D.C. in connection with a big national conference on aging.  I will certainly try to attend if I am able and hope many others from the web will be able to attend.  I remember we had a great time in Wilmington, NC, at the last national meeting back in 1997 (think that was the year).  That is where I first met Pat in person.

Ed mentioned that song title and it made me remember a couple that I wonder if any of you remember.  I remember as a teen they were playing sometime called "It in the Book" and it was very cleaver.  There was also the "Purple People Eater" and a number of other silly songs that were just a lot of fun.

Marilyn, I am glad they are getting your furnace fixed and you willl enjoy having a screen door.  We put one on the front of our house a few weeks ago and it was very nice to have the air circulating through the house and being able to have the front door opened.  Glad you got your computer moved.

Al, how many time did you try the tap and then remember you had no water?  I invariably try to turn on the electric switch when the power is off.  We take these conveniences for granted until they are not available to us.

Teresa Dawn, I certainly hope you are feeling better by now.

Janet, glad you now have the painting finished.  I couldn't begin to paint anything over my head or probably on the way either.  Sorry about your hip flexor but guess your body is telling you to slow down a little and let it rest.

Well, guess I had better say goodnight.

Nita

I'm bringing up the rear. :)  Late, but here.

Marilyn, I can identify with your muddy kitchen floor.  My guys go out, and invaribly find a new mole hill.  No matter how much I wipe, they always bring some mud in.  No one would believe how often I sweep and mop.  They go out and come back in with leaves, stems, whatever stuck to their feet or their face and long hair.  But they are having fun and getting exercise.  I have a big fenced back yard.

I had my 5 year old grandson for awhile today.  We went shopping at Salvation Army to get some more dog toys, but Kaleb found a cute little pillow he wanted to get for his friend's sister, and a baseball mitt for himself. He also found a knit hat for himself and some sun glasses. :)

Speaking of old songs. Anyone remember this? "Poor little fly on the wall....has no mommie at all.  No one to brush his hair.  No one to even care.  Poor little fly on the wall" .  I can't remember where that came from but I sang it to my kids, and we always made it really sad.  My youngest, Kim, a softie for sure, would burst into tears if I looked sad enough.

We are having some of the most glorious Fall weather here on the Oregon coast.  Cool, but sunshine every day.  It's great.

Tomorrow morning I have some volunteers coming with a pickup to take all my garbage away. Yipee!  My garage will be much bigger.  Actually the guys who did my plumbing, part of them, are coming to cleanup all the old pipe and stuff, so asked if I had any garbage to haul away. Boy, do I!

And now with all the talk of garbage, I'll say goodnight and see you all tomorrow.

PS....Janet, I'm so glad for you that you're almost finished on the house to rent.  Hopefull the new renter will appreciate all you've done to have it looking beautiful for her.

Pat

Hi Everyone...

I haven't been on today as I have company here till tomorrow from yesterday and it's been a very busy time with my house full.  I have kids sleeping on the floor and both sofa's are in use!

And tomorrow, I'm going on a Ladie's Conference with Judy McKenna so I won't be around at all till tomorrow evening.

Larry, that sounds great 2006 and I hope that maybe I'll be able to attend.  Yes, Wilmington was great!  Tasted grits for the first time too!

It was nice to remember the old songs today.  I wonder if there are more.

I won't be around all day tomorrow so post lots!
