JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

"I never knew the meaning of God's Word till I was afflicted."
~Martin Luther~

Morning Devotional...

And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven.
Luke 24:51

This lovely chapter begins with an opened tomb and ends with an opened heaven.

Between these there is an opened home (v. 29), the opened scriptures (v. 32), the opened eyes (v. 31), and the opened understanding (v. 45).

The risen Saviour's last act was to bless His people, and now, ascended, He would still desire for us an understanding of His Word and sweet glimpses of Himself.

Well might we say, "Abide with us!"
—Jim Flanigan

Taken up with Thee, Lord Jesus,
I would be;
Finding joy and satisfaction
all in Thee;
Thou the nearest, and the dearest,
Unto me.

Hello all!  I figured I would jump in here and have two posts in one day, instead I get to be first.

Yea me.

We had snow today.  Not a lot, it all blew away quickly, but it is very very cold outside.

Anyone know of anywhere (besides ebay) that has Star Wars guitar picks for sell?

Everyone but me is in bed -- wow, it's quiet.  kinda nice, know what I mean?

have a great day

Ed

I'm up late again....waitin' for my printer to finish printing the minutes for a club that I belong to.  They are late....I forgot about them till I got to lookin' for them.  Then I realized I had not written them up.  Well, I thank God that I checked on them.

The old senior-itis is really kicking lately......now where  did I put my glasses....oops they're on my head......

Good Night one and all...especially you West Coasters.....

Good Morning Lord Jesus Thank you for this day, Please bless everyone who is traveling today to be with their family. Protect them from every sort of accident. Father bless those who visit CP may they all remain healthy, set your angels round about each of them and keep them from all harm.

Good Morning CP'ers. I hope y-all slept well last night and are looking forward to what the Lord will bring you this day. As for myself I did not sleep so good last night, I wonder if it was the late night Pizza and Ice Cream that I was eating. It has been very quiet at my house the phone didn't even ring once after I got home from work.

I spent the evening  doing some PSP stuff and crocheting, I went to bed at 8:30 and watched TV in there until 11 pm. However I was munching while in there. I go to bed early to keep warm and to relax. If I sty up I am always finding something else to do other than relaxing.

Oh, my goodness, Ed!  I was up late printing minutes for the Guelph Hiking Trail Club last night!  I had forgotten about them and I had printed some out last week and they were the wrong ones and our Annual General Meeting is tomorrow night!  Talk about "senior-itis"!  LOL

Foggy today - can just barely see the tops of the trees, barely see the street corner (three coaches up from us).  It's pretty cool also.  We're getting ready today to go over to our pseudo kids/grandkids place for T-day.  We're supplying part, they're supplying part.  Leslie, our psuedo-daughter brought lunch for all of us from subway yesterday.  Three of her kids (the youngest three) used newspapers on the floor in front of the TV to eat and watch Disney channel.  It was delightful.  We love these people very much, so it's always a delight when she comes.
Bless the Lord, O my soul!  And all that is within me - bless His holy Name.

I hope you people don't spread more of that senior-itis thing.  I have enough of it by myself.

Well, goodmorning everyone!  It very chilly here in Guelph.  No fog or snow or rain but minus 8C!!  It's just very raw--the kind of cold that goes right to your bones.

I have lots I have to do today so I'll try to pop in a little later!

Marilyn, sounds like what I enjoy doing, going to my bed to get warm and watch TV and knit or read.

Heavenly Sunlight
(Click to hear music)

God is light; in Him there is no darkness at all.
1 John 1:5

Words: Henry J. Zelley, in Gospel Praise, by William Kirkpatrick and Henry Gilmour (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania: Hall-Mack Co., 1899).

Music: George H. Cook

Walking in sunlight all of my journey;
Over the mountains, through the deep vale;
Jesus has said, "I'll never forsake thee,"
Promise divine that never can fail.

Refrain

Heavenly sunlight, heavenly sunlight,
Flooding my soul with glory divine:
Hallelujah, I am rejoicing,
Singing His praises, Jesus is mine.

Shadows around me, shadows above me,
Never conceal my Savior and Guide;
He is the Light, in Him is no darkness;
Ever I'm walking close to His side.

Refrain

In the bright sunlight, ever rejoicing,
Pressing my way to mansions above;
Singing His praises gladly I'm walking,
Walking in sunlight, sunlight of love.

Refrain

Thanks everyone for remembering Jerry.  I own that he can't come back to us but we can go to him.

Pat ~ Aw!  Those headaches can set you back.  Rest!  Don't do too much around the house...it can wait!

Karma ~ Thanks for the hug and I know if I saw you that I would get hugs from you, Travis and Kristi.  But why not Nards?  He is a hugger, too, isn't he?

Larry ~ It seems when I read about laptops and notebooks that it doesn't mention on notebooks about Windows XP.  So I was wondering how they work.  The one I saw advertised did have a CD-RW/DVD-RW (or whatever to burn CD's and DVD's).  But nothing was said about USB ports.  That is what I have now is a reader for the Sony Memory Pro Stick that uses the USB port.  Faster and easier than hooking the camera to the pc.  But all and all, probably cheaper to just purchase a 1G Sony Memory Pro Stick!

Liz ~ So happy to read your posts again.  I loved the funny about Thanksgiving...really can and WILL relate to it.  I can sympathize with your back problems even though I am praying that my back problems aren't as intense as yours.  God can make your problems right.

Janet ~ Thanks for your conversation with Mieka.  I really don't think there are adjectives that describe that little one effectively.  She is one of a kind...a breath of fresh air.  I love her to pieces.  As for Beth...it seems impossible with her health concerns to even think that she could fly to NY and stay 6 months.  Does she have doctors there that if needed she can see?  Perhaps John's doctor?  But we must be concerned for HER happinesss and she knows what makes her happy.

CHRIS ~ How great to see you back!  I have missed your lovely photos!  Sorry about the AOL problem but at least, you are back!  Give Margit my love.

Ed ~ Well, I looked in the Yellow Pages for a close chiropractor.  I found one 7 miles away.  I went last evening.  Not cheap by far!  But I had consultation with the chiropractor, consultation with the physician, had 4 x-rays done and the wonderful, lovely, soothing electric muscle relaxer.  I was told to sleep on my back and if on my sides to have a pillow between my legs.  AND I woke this morning with no pain.  I go back Saturday and I had better go back several times to get my money's worth.  I was in shock how much I put on my Visa last evening and they are suppose to tell me more Saturday morning.  They had better!!  My son has had back problems for years and he is going now for the second month, three times a week at $400 a month!  I have insurance but a deductible so I paid more than that last evening!  But thank God, my pain isn't contant but when I stand from sitting or laying, I never know if I can move or not.

Ruth Ann ~  The answer is....Hide a Key outside!  I have locked myself out many times...I don't have to lock my door with a key...just turn a thingy and shut the door, so I have a key hid!  Sorry, about your broken window.  Just praying that you don't have sleety snow in Tennessee this morning like we are having in Indiana.

Marilyn ~ I usually nuke pizza so boughten pizzas are a treat for me, too.  I understand your splurging!!  Thanks for your prayer this morning.  I needed it.

Sue ~ No tears for Jerry's birthday...just happy memories.  We were good for each other I think.  So glad you like the Ali and Inky movie.  They are my babies.  And yes, I was told last evening that I must return every month at least.  Again, I had better be going to the chiropractor often in the next month to get what I think is my money's worth.  The money was because of my deductible on my insurance.   My insurance changes the first of the year with twice the deductible...they aren't getting the amount of my deductible January 2nd!!!

Smokeythedog ~ Snow here today too.  The ground is covered and a strong wind is blowing.  Just happy I am inside and no need to go outside.

Nita ~ Good morning!

Nards ~ Good morning!  Shhhh!  Here's a cyberhug {{{{{{{{hug}}}}}}}

Al ~ I love going to my sisters for big dinners.  I love her grandchildren since I don't have grandchildren of my own.  I love seeing the little kids at church.  In fact, I am asking two of Ivalou's kids over in the morning to make Chocolate Pretzels.  Did you find your recipe?

Again, it is snowing in Indiana.  Blowing in Indiana.  And I am staying in  in Indiana!!

But I'll be back later tonight!

Janet

Hello, dear friends.  It is lovely weather, other than the wind, here in SW Kansas today---but the forecast says cold is coming tomorrow.

I think I forgot to tell you our high school boys won the sub-state football game.  It was a real squeaker, 7-6.  The other team tried to run for the two points instead of kicking for one; then in the final seconds, they attempted a field goal and missed by mere inches.  I'm sure it was a heartbreaker for them.  Now our boys play in Salina on Saturday evening for State Championship.  They say the other team has a whole row of guys who are over 300#, so our boys have their work cut out for them!  I wish them well, and pray no one is injured.

We just got home.  This morning we went for our workout, taking Beth to therapy on the way.  Then she had a doctor's appointment, and we had to wait quite a while, then by the pharmacy to drop off her new scripts.  Dr. P. could hardly believe she is going to NY for six months!  He looked at me questioningly, and I just shook my head and shrugged my shoulders..........what can I say?

I barely slept last night, for thinking about Beth.  She called last night to say she needed my help to get out of the shower.  She didn't have enough strength to pull herself up off the shower chair.  :'(  She is also having a great deal of difficulty in dressing herself.  How in the world is she going to manage?  She certainly won't want to ask John to help her with such things---they are both so "innocent" they would be terribly embarrassed.  :-[  Anyway, it sure kept me awake thinking about it and trying to come up with some sort of solution for her.  (I didn't think of anything.........)

Dr. P. (here) and Dr. V. (Dodge City) both assure Beth that if she needs anything thay can help with, she is to call them.  They are concerned about her getting her meds, as some are "classified" and they won't fill them in another state.  They say there are ways to get things done, though.  And that they will help her to find doctors in NY.  John has a sister who is a nurse, so Beth thinks she will help her with that.

Sorry............thanks for allowing me to vent.  :-\

CHRIS!!  Great to see you here again!  I will email you my new email address, as I haven't received any photos for a while, either.  The old one is still good, but others have told me they sent things that I did not get, so who knows?  Welcome back!  Glad you are enjoying your church.  We are really loving ours, too, and thank God for a wonderful Pastor and family.

Etta Sue, I hope the chiropractic treatments will have you pain free in record time!  Our exercise gal is almost like having a personal trainer, doctor and chiropractor all in one---and for only $40.00 per month for Darrel and me!  I mean, this gal knows a LOT!  No matter where you have a pain, she can show you an exercise, a stretch or something to make it better.  Thank God for Kristi!  :thumbsup:

I need to go back to town to pick up Beth's precriptions, mail some things for her and Darrel, and fill up the car again.  Gas here is now $2.08.......how much is it in your neck of the woods?

Sue, good to see you again!

Pat, that is a funny cat!  Where are its ears?  My kitty is so pretty, and is pretty spoiled, too.  But at least her habits have vastly improved, so I think she gets to keep her happy home.  ;)

God bless you all as you remember to thank and praise Him for all our many blessings!

The answer is....Hide a Key outside

I am so-oo glad that your pain has went away.  No one can sympathize with someones back pain like one who has suffered with it.   I was $41 a trip, but now that I'm 65, Medicare pays for all but $7.92....

I have no insurance for x-rays...first time $300.  Now even though Medicare doesn't cover x-rays...they charge only $80 for Medicare people.  Go figure...but it sure is nice being 65. :D :thumbsup:

As for Hide-A-Key.....it only works if the last person that used it...puts it back. >:(  Ha Ha

Pat did you get your BBQ up on the deck? and that cupboard thingy? <3

We have snow.  About enough to set a dusting on the grass.

We had an exciting evening last night.  :-\ The girls had an appointment last night in our town, that ended at 6:30.  When we left I decided to get gas, .889 per liter.  :o On the way to the station the girls saw something they thought was a house on fire.  :-\ I thought it was a house brightly lit withh X-mas lights.  They persuaded me to go fire chasing.  C:-) We went up this road English line, that ends in a dead end after a steep windy hill.  It was obvious other vehicles had gone up so I tried.   Boy oh Boy, I will never go up there in the winter again.  :crazy: I got stuck, the car was sideways on the road, and the road was glare ice.  It took all the training Pat gave me and John to figure out how to turn around, then go back down the hill.  I remember one thing our Dad said.  If a road is icy keep one wheel in the gravel.  :cool: Did that and it worked.  Did a lot of praying and when I was off the road all I could say is Thank you Lord! <3

On the way home the girls insisted on calling the fire department, we did and found out where the fire actually was.  We went to our local camp ground and sat in their driveway and watched it across the river.  I am sorry for the folks who lost their home.  It is a bad time of year to be out in the cold.

Well that is all our exploits for now.   Pat Shhhhhh, don't tell John! :-X

Janet praying about your concerns for Beth.

We found the recipe, Etta Sue - in a book we didn't expect to have it!  We've got two big cans of candied yams just waiting to be put into a casserole dish with the other scrumptious things!  We bought some veggies, etc. this morning to contribute to the feast.  Oh how we're looking forward to that gathering!

Karma - I know what you have.  It isn't senior - itis.  It's Karmitis, which is enough all by itself!  But don't change it - we all love it just as it is.

Pat - loved that cat!  I had to call Marbeth in to see it.  He looked like he was having some kind of happy convulsions!  Probably just got some catnip and has been chewing it.

Hi everyone.  It is cooking day here in our household.  My wife has been working all day, with some intervals for resting.  Our son has been here about three hours and has helped her a lot by making several dishes.  I peeled 10 granny smith apples this morning and sliced them and she made a delicous looking apple pie for tomorrow.  I took a picture of it but it doesn't look as good in the picture as it does in person.

This evening I have to be at the church at 6:15 for choir practice before the 7:30 Thanksgiving Service with several other churches.  I am sure Pat won't be going for two reasons.  The first is the long wait she would have before the service and the other is that she is going to be exhausted from the cooking.  However, I know she is enjoying the time with our son.

Janet, you mentioned the modesty issue for Beth and John.  Perhaps she could have a robe handy that he could hand to her with his eyes averted and then be able to help her.  Just remember that where there is a will there is a way.

Good to see Chris and Liz posting again after sometime as well as everyone else who has posted the last couple of days.

Etta Sue, glad the chiropractor helped you.  Our insurance allows us up to 30 visits a year for a co-pay of $35 for each visit.

Happy Thanksgiving.

Pat

Just had a phone call from Judy (my sister).  Apparently the fire that she and the kids were watching was a "controlled burn" of some sort so no one is without their home.

She asked that I let you know that and now her computer has crashed.  It won't even boot up.

Good news about the fire, BAD news about Judy's computer.

Pam, so good to see you back!  Do come in and post often.

I think I have everything done that I can do tonight, toward dinner tomorrow.  I will get up and make the pies in the morning before we leave.  I like cream pies good and fresh!  :cool:

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!

We now spent 1 1/2 hours away from the house every morning going to the nearby gym and having free coffee if it is is before 10, reading the newspaper there as well.  Since Don's heart attack in the spring, it is good that he wants to keep up exercise & with cooler weather upon us we decided to pay the $85 per month for the two of us - all kinds of equipment and pool, etc. & the free coffee & newspapers are really nice.  We shower and change there as well so that helps me keep our bathroom up easier.  But - the time really eats into our daily duties.

Pat:  Oh, I hope you get rid of the headaches very soon.  I was thinking you were getting ready for Thanksgiving and now remembering that you had yours already.  Ours is really much too close to Christmas.

Larry:  We have seen a lot of t.v. coverage on your new aquarium.  It looks wonderful.

Janet:  Hugs to you - it will work out.

Etta Sue:  A belated hug to you, yes, I miss Jerry and his good sense of humor.

Ruth Ann:  Sorry that you had to break a window for locking yourself outside.

I had a wonderful time with daughter taking this week off & visiting with her two children.  We took them to the park & he skated, not ice but he skates on anything.  8 year old granddaughter sat with me in the sewing room downstairs & I had set up a machine for her and one for me so we worked on a flannel quilt she is giving to her parents.  She is very careful & loves to sew.  Now we go there tomorrow for the day with almost the entire family & some of their friends.

Thanks for that link.  I had seen it, but couldn't figure out if it was just a "collector's site" to "look" at stuff, or if it actually sold stuff as well.  I look at it more closely tomorrow.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TOMORROW ALL (in America, anyways ;))

Marilyn

Good evening to all:

Well I still haven't heard anything from Gilbert or Sarah's folks. I am sure that they are having dinner in Eureka at her folks., but so far I haven't been officially invited. I hope they don't expect me to just show up. I don't like to do that.

I am feeling sort of down now because of that, more or less feeling very alone. I went to the doctor today and my xray results don't show anything wrong with the bones but it doesn't tell us anything about the cartilage or the ligaments.

She is concerned about the headaches and  will be doing an oxygen test on me and a CT scan on my brain. She wants to check for sleep apnea. She has recommended Passionflower  as an alternative to a sleeping medication. That is good I prefer the natural or herbal  treatment anyway. I am fortunate to have a Doctor who believes in Alternative medicine.

It is so good to see Chris and Liz back here at CP. Don't y-all be scarce no ya hear.

Well I am going to put on my pajamas and relax.
