JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

Spiritual Warfare and Sin:
The Seared Conscience

To the pure all things are pure, but to those who are defiled and
unbelieving nothing is pure; but even their mind and conscience are
defiled.

Titus 1:15

But when a conscience has become seared, when a man has played with
the fire and burned his conscience and calloused it until he can handle the hot iron of sin without shrinking, there is no longer any safety for him.

Paul wrote in his epistle about those to whom nothing is pure any longer, "but even their mind and conscience is defiled."

Here Paul speaks of an inward corruption, revealed in impure thoughts and soiled language. I am just as afraid of people with soiled tongues as I am of those with a communicable disease.

Actually, a foul tongue is evidence of a deeper spiritual disease and Paul goes on to tell us that those with defiled consciences become reprobates, something just washed up on the shore, a moral shipwreck.  Echoes from Eden, 64-65.

"Oh Lord, deliver me from that 'inward corruption.' Guard my mind and my tongue; convict me of any carelessness or straying. Keep my conscience alive and active. Lord, I really don't want to end up a dirty old man, 'washed up on the shore, a moral shipwreck.' Amen."

Good  Morning Great Devotional today Pat. Thank you.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day with the Lord today.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  I am ready for church and we have had breakfast.  I think we will probably go out for lunch after church.  Our choir is singing one of the two anthems we used in the Thanksgiving service on Thursday evening.

Pat, that was a good devotional this morning.  Hope it is beginning to thaw up your way.  I am reminded by your description and that from Liz about the snow that I read a day or so ago that Europe is expecting the coldest winter in history this winter.  Not something to look forward to.  Sure glad I don't have to worry about shoveling snow as that would be just one more thing I would have to hire someone to do.

Marilyn, hope you can get rested up today for next week.  Nice to read that you are going to be able to see your family at the upcoming wedding.  Isn't it a shame that often the only time we see our relatives are at weddings or funerals.

Liz, we are also cutting way back on Christmas this year.  Since Pat and I are supporting not only our daughter, but also our unemployed son and daughter-in-law, we decided to draw names and set a $10 limit on the gift.  We can have just as pleasant dinner and sharing time as if we all had many presents under the tree and the budget won't be badly bent.  I was rather disgusted this morning when I heard them complain on the news this morning that the Black Friday sales were only about the level they were last year.  They only had sales of about $9 billion.

Ruth Ann, glad you were able to get to Atlanta to be with your family here.

Al, I agree with you on the Paul Harvey article.  Isn't it strange that we go so overboard because a few people are "offended" but we pay no attention to the fact that the majority of people are being offended by the changes being made (example: trying to take Christ out of Christmas or perhpas remove the word Christmas itself).  What stupidity.

Ed, I am sure that was a very frustrating experience when you were happy that you could give to your wife but it is also easy to see why she felt as she did.

Sue, I am impressed that you can cut down one piece of furniture and make it into two of something else.  You must be very talented.

Janet, glad you were able to spend a little more time with your grandchildren.  They grow up so quickly.

Karmat, what type of camera are you getting?  Glad you were able to refinance your home during the time of these good rates.

Hi Judy.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day.

Why is it so easy to sin, but so difficult to maintain the path of righteousness?  We fall into the one, but we anguish over dragging ourselves with difficulty out of the other.  Thank you, Pat, for the devotional.  It makes me say, "Save me, O Lord, or I easily perish!"

I so well know that problem with sleeping, marilyn.  Sometimes I sleep restfully for 5 hours, get up once, then sleep well for another two.  Other times I'm up three or four times in the night.  I think it's to make me more thankful for the good nights.

Marilyn

Oh yes Al I am ever so thanful for those good nights. My allergies have now kicked in again, sneezing, itching eyes. Oh Lord Thank you for these allergies.

Janet

Marilyn.........."thank you Lord for these allergies???"  I think you are thanking the wrong one!  GOD is NOT the one who causes that kind of thing!  It is satan who comes to steal, kill and destroy!  Thank you, God, for taking away Marilyn's allergies!

Liz, the fried turkey is delicious!  You use peanut oil, and have to get it hot before putting the turkey in (otherwise it will absorb the oil and taste greasy, or so I'm told.)  It only takes 30 minutes or so to thoroughly cook a 12-14 pound turkey.  We had a smaller one which Darrel roasted in the oven, too.  They used most of that one for sandwiches for supper, or just cold turkey along with all the goodies we had left from dinner.  Glad to read that you are feeling some better.

We are going to cut down on Christmas buying this year, too.  We have been steadily decreasing our spending for several years, and even more this year.  The only young ones we have now are Abby and Addison; the others are all teens and Curtis is 22.  And the older ones play the Chinese Christmas game and enjoy that a lot.  Even Abby wants to join in on that this year, but of course we will buy for the little ones, just not a lot!  ;)

I wanted to post some photos but can't figure out how to do it, even with Pat's instructions I printed out some time back.  I have also forgotten how small I need to resize to post on here instead on in the gallery.  Frustration!  :ticked:

It is now my turn to say "BRRRRRRR!"  It was cold and windy when we left for church, and loading Beth up was a chilling experience---but by the time church was out, it was sleeting and REALLY cold!  I got wet and chilled, as did Darrel and Beth, by the time we got her into the car, and worse getting her out of the car, up the ramp and into the house!  Needless to say, she will not be going tonight.  I am hoping the weather improves by tomorrow, even though the forecast is for more snow and even colder temperatures, because Beth has a doctor's appointment in Dodge City at 2:15.

I think I will go see if I can figure out a spot for my Christmas tree before it is time to go to cantata practice.

Larry, I really wish I could hear you sing and play.  What a blessing those gifts/talents are to the body of Christ; and to the people at Calvin's Cove and wherever else you share.  God bless you!

You're all right, of course - God doesn't send the alergies.  But He allows them to come to you.  So you rightly thank Him for allowing the testing via those means.  An old puritan preacher once said, "Satan is only God's master fencer, to teach us to use our weapons."  Satan hates God and His people, but God uses everything he does for good - that's why "all things (can) work together for good to them that love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose."  PTL

Janet, thank you for the link to Flylady.  I did not get near enough completed on my list this weekend, so I guess it is going to keep me busy for a WEEK, maybe even two or three  :o

I am fortunate, my daughter stays in touch, usually every couple of days or so.  I suppose though that I should give MY mother a call now.  I haven't spoken to her in a couple of days myself.

Larry, I'm not the one cutting down the furniture, my companion is.

Now time to get busy and see if I can get a tad more accomplished.

Pat

I was just sitting here quietly watching the photos above changing and changing.

Have any of you just watched them fade in and fade out?  I love them!  This is one thing about the new upgrade that I really like.

Janet, Janet!  Get those photos resized to about 50 to 100K in size.  Have them about 800 pixels on their longest side and put them in your Resized folder on your computer.

Then go to the Gallery and click on Upload File (above where it says "Christian Photographers...."

It now says about half way down, "File Uploads" and click on the Browse button and navigate to that folder where you have your photos (Resized).

Click on them (five of them one by one) and then Continue.

They will all appear in your gallery.  Put them in your album and put a title below and a little description and we'll all enjoy them a lot.

Our gallery will take photos up to 200K but if you upload all of your photos large as that, you'll soon run out of your 10 meg of space.

Ruth Ann Bice

Hi, friends, I felt like going to church, but then rested (actually slept) all afternoon. One of our church members is moving, so I took my truck and helped her get a load to her new house after I awoke, and she's going to borrow the truck tomorrow while I work to maybe get finished up. For me, the truck provides a way to get into and out of a vehicle easily, it's small so heats up easily in winter, and has been very handy to lend to friends who need it. So, tonight I'm thankful for my little white truck.

Y'all have a good evening.

Ruth Ann
...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Pat, how can we know how much space we have left in our gallery?

A new thing for me.  I've never listened to the radio using Launchcast on Yahoo Messenger.  I "launched" it and listened to praise and worship music while I was online.  I suppose others have been doing it awhile, but not me :)  I will from now on...for shur.

Hope everyone had a great day in the Lord.  Nita

Janet

OKAY, Pat!  I did it!!   I found my problem was my whole tool bar on PSP had disappeared since my computer crashed, so I had to figure out how to get the stuff I needed back on there.  Then I was able to use your latest instructions (I have to go step-by-step) and upload a few photos.  Whew!  Thanks for being patient with me.  Now, to see if anyone will even look and comment.......

Our weather is awful, you'd think we were in Canada........or in Western Kansas.  :(

See you good folks tomorrow!
