Morning Devotional...

Trials and Pain:
He Knows

For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our
weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

--Hebrews 4:15-16

Don't pity yourself. Don't be afraid to tell God your troubles. He knows all about your troubles. There is a little song that says, "Nobody knows the trouble I've seen," but there's Somebody who knows, all right. And our Fellow Sufferer still retains a fellow feeling for our pains and still remembers in the skies His tears, His agonies and cries, though he's now at the right hand of the Father Almighty, sitting crowned in glory, awaiting, of course, that great coronation day that yet is to come. But though He is there and though they cry all around Him, "Worthy is the Lamb" (Revelation 5:12), He hasn't forgotten us, and He hasn't forgotten the nails in His hands, the tears, the agonies and cries.

He knows everything about you. He knows! He knows when the doctor
hates to tell you what's wrong with you and your friends come and try to be unnaturally encouraging. He knows!

With boldness, therefore, at the throne
Let us make all our sorrows known
And ask the aid of heavenly power
To help us in the evil hour.

The Attributes of God, pp. 94-95

I will be checking out some other things <make that thangs> and then it will be bedtime for me.

If any of y'all are interested in tawkin' with me on Skype ... I'm Fren2Him ... Love to hear from y'all.

Jane
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Nita

It was so funny.  Jane sounded like she was from the deep South on Skypes.  Her speech was really slow and she had a drawl that would make my southern relatives proud.

We decided it was the dialup that was making her that way, but we had fun teasing her anyway. :)

karmat

heheheh, Jane.  I can garntee you that if I were on there, there would be no laughing at you!.  Right, Pat?  Etta?  And ya'll should hear Travis.  Oh my.  And we just sound that way naturally.  skypes, dial up or whatever ;)

We did Christmas pics tonight at my sister's house.  Mine weren't so hot.  Bernard's turned out really well, I think.  So,, I am going to use his pictures to make our Christmas cards.  And with that, I am going back to the drawing board!

done.  i may upload a version of it soon!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY RUTH

Jane Walker

Hey thar, Karma ... y'thank we could git together and start a club er sumpin'?   ;)

I have been accused of having a southern drawl for many years now.  Ever since I spent time in Louisiana when I was 16 ... yup that has been many years, hunh?  Anyway, dialup to DSL slows the transmission evidently, so that makes my speech even slower and with a more pronounced drawl.  I did the test call and heard what they were laughing about ... have to admit it is pretty funny!   ;D

I'll just play along with it and let y'all have your laughs ... what else can I do?

Love all y'all ... see y'all latah....
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Anthony

I like that Southern drawl when I hear it in the movies, but it usually goes with using a spitoon (if that's how you spell it).  I couldn't imagine Jane like that somehow  ;D

Thank you for the devotional Pat, it just seemed to hit the nail on the head for me today and was a great encouragement.

I do pray that Janet and Darrell are having a better day today - let's keep praying for the whole family.j

I enjoyed the morning service today as the Pastor preached from John's gospel about Peter denying the Lord.

Have a great day everyone and see y'all later.

Marilyn

Yup Jane sounded like she was talking so sloooooooow. It was too funny.

Thank you Pat for the devotional I am so glad that Jesus took my pain and suffering upon Himself. That He knows the pain and suffering in His own body that we suffer. I am so glad that He is there for me during all my times of trouble.

"This is the day the Lord hath made and I will rejoice and be glad in it. Rejoice and again  I say rejoice."

Hey Janet How is Darrel today? We are waiting to hear form you.

Well other things to do just now so I will be back later.

Hi Anthony

Hi everyone.  It is still very overcast here in Georgia nd think we are to have more rain.  We had a lot of rain during the night.

I am ready for church and Pat is getting ready.  I watched a lot of football yesterday and Georgia won but our local highschool team did not win the state championship and Virginia Tech, my friends favorite team, also lost.  However, the really big win was by my alma mater, Northwest Missouri State University that won their game yesterday in the Division II National playoff and will play for the National Championship next week.  They have previously won the National Championship twice in the last 10 years.

I had a personal contact with the NW MO coach and serveral of his players when my Dad was in the hospital and we hoped to bring him home.  A friend of his had a hospital bed and we bought it.  He arranged with the coach, with whom he attended Sunday School and Men's Group and church.  He brought several players and he and they loaded the bed on my dad's pickup and came to the house to unload it.  I was really impressed at such a nice gesture.

Janet, the five stents I have were put into the same loacation (one of my earlier bypasses) but at 4 different times.  Unfortunately, they are all now useless and they clogged 100% so that part of my heart is gone.  Fortunately the older we become the more the smaller vessels are developed to help carry some of the load.  I have taken a blood pressure pill, along with other heart medications for a long time.  Glad that you all are home and if Darrel will take it easy for awhile the heart will probably adjust.

Nita and Jane, I added you both to my Skype list as you probably saw from the notifications.  Marilyn, I noticed your link for Skype didn't appear so will repeat it here since this service is available worldwide:  www.skype.com .  If you have a webcamera you can use the new beta version that includes video.  Marilyn, I just got a new headset that was $19.95 that is made by Loggtech and I really like it.  It also serves as stereo headphones for my laptop and has very clear and wonderful sound.  The mouthpiece turn back up along the bracket when not in use.

Happy Birthday, Ruth.

I see I have already written a book so will not go ahead and make more individual comments.  I have read all the postings.  One other thing, Teresa, I have had a very strong feeling since my parents were both in the nursing home that it is essential that a family visit on a daily basis if possible.  The staff knows who have people looking out for them and who doesn't.  It should be that way (and it isn't with many fine caregivers) but it is for others.  Of course, you also have to remember that the person needing helps wants it immediately and there are limited workers and they can't be two places at once.  I had to remind my dad of this several times.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Al Moak

I certainly agree with Larry about nursing homes.  All the problems we have with interpersonal relationships are just amplified in that environment - the impatience of the patients seems greater, the impatience of the caregivers seems greater, etc., etc.  It's where loving those we're serving for Christ's sake gets tested.  We need constantly to remember that we're serving Him, not them.  It's not so different in the meetings of the church, is it?  There too we need to serve Him by serving one another - by doing for others as for the Lord.  There are always many things I'd like to have done differently than they are done in the church, but I have to remember to let God grow each and every member at His rate, not mine!  Not only so, but I need to remember that I still need to grow and be willing lto change too.  I haven't quite arrived at perfection yet!  But it's always difficult to see the problems as possibly reflecting my own imperfections and not somebody else's.  God grant us patience and love - today.

Pat

Good Morning from "Sleepless in Guelph" last night.  I think I was up on the hour nearly every hour and then fell asleep at about 7 am this morning!   So, I'm not going anywhere this morning.

Just want to clarify who's birthday it is...  It's Ruthie with the "ie" on the end and not just Ruth but I made the card to say just Ruth.  In other words it's my cousin Ruth.  (Confoooosed yet?) :idiot:

I've got a little time before I need to join my friends to sing at the nursing home.  I only got the call this morning at 7:30 saying we'd be singing today.   ::)  It's a good thing I had turned on the water heater at 7 so the water was hot for my shower and shampoo.  I even turned on the electric heat this morning, because I didn't want to have a wood fire going and then have to leave it.  I'll build a wood fire when I get home later.

Thanks for adding me to your contact list, Larry.  Pat, I have authorized you but I notice you're still "awaiting authorization"  guess you haven't fired up Skype yet today.   :)

Must be y'all want some more laughs, right?

Nope, Anthony ... no spittoon around here.  At least none that I've seen anyway.

Sorry you've had another sleep deprived night there in Guelph, Pat.  Do we have any idea what causes this?  Too much activity of the brain, maybe?   :-\  Take care of yourself ... If you don't, who will?  That's the way I figure it, anyway.   <3

I s'pose I'll mosey along now and see what else I can get into before time to leave for the NH.

Hi Larry.  Yes I agree with you.  Unfortunately it isn't possible for us to be there everyday (what with everyone working, a big house, three pets etc... there just isn't time), but we are there nearly every other day and we stay for a long time on those days.  But yes, they never have enough staff there.  The way it works at this particular home is that there are two ppl on per wing (about 20 or so patients per wing)  And these ppl stay on for 12 hours (from 8am-8pm) Then on the night shift 12 hours there is only 2 staff on per floor (60 patients).  We are hoping this gets changed so that there are more staff but I don't think they want to do this, it has been this way for 12 years or so since the place opened.   She doesn't mind waiting for the other ppl to get up ahead of her or whatever, but when they aren't busy (as in they are watching tv and it's not their break time) and they just refuse to get her up anyways so she has to stay in bed all day.  Or they are too rough with her, etc it becomes a problem.  Especially since with her type of artherites (Rhumatory sp?)  it is proven that it is extremely bad for her not to in an upright position during the day. It really is a tough situation.

Anyways, I hope you all have a great day :)  It's snowing here right now...it looks pretty but my dad and sister both have a lot of driving to do so pray they are okay :)

Jeanne Lee

Snow here, too Teresa.  About 4 inches so far, only flurries for the rest of today and then probably some substantial accumulation on Tuesday.

This morning's sermon was on Matthew 25:14-30 - the story of the talents and good stewardship.  And the pastor wound up talking about tithing and our church budget.  ;)

We have had a good and busy day today.  We went to early service this morning and then to Sunday School.  Then at noon we had several for dinner, two of my nephews and one with family, wife and two little girls.  Also we had our daughter Rachel and her husband, Martin.  They stayed until about 3:00 this afternoon.  Then we went to a funeral home visitation.  Tonight Martha is having her small group meeting at our house so Cornelia and I have retired to our bed room for the evening.

I had a nice talk yesterday with Marilyn and Pat on Skype.  That is really a cool program.  It was just like they were in the room.  I have met Pat in person some years ago but it was my first time to hear Marilyn's very pleasant voice.  She said that my southern accent wasn't too strong.  My name on Skype is papajohntn if anyone would like to add me to their list.   :yakyakyak:

A good devotional today.  We do come to the throne of grace where we find mercy and grace.  Jesus, our high priest, is always there so that through his sacrifice we have God's mercy, God's grace.

Rom 5:1-2  Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,  through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God.  (NIV)

Good late afternoon. I have been busy playing with PSP and making stationery this afternoon. Now the dogs are in the house and I am sitting here eating Wlanuts and will be going to prayer meeting shortly.

It sure is cold here today. This morning everyhting on my car was frozen over I turned on the wipers and poured cool water ont he wwindshield when the wiper came back toward me  it sprayed the water on me.  :clobber: Well I didn't get that mad.  Just blotted it off and changed my jacked andoff I went.

Heh, Heh, Heh!  I made it.  I snuck in earlier, but didn't post.

Papa John, I've added you to my Skypes contact list.  :)

I have you on too, Larry.

It's been cold here.  Nothing frozen up here on the hill, but I expect it any morning.
I guess it's close to time to put my car back in the garage.  I can't get it in far enough to close the doors, so can't let the dogs out when I do that.  I guess I'll put it in at night after they go to bed, and take it out in the morning before I let them out. That sounds like lots of work, but that's all I can think to do.  I have a back door off the garage that goes to the back yard, but I think they'd be pretty curious about another open door.

Anthony, I keep forgetting to say "hi" to you.  I was gone for awhile, and when I came back, there you were.  It's good to see you here again.  We all fit together so nicely, don't you think?  And did I tell you...I love your sense of humour?  Probably not.  I do.

Pat, if you want to add me to your Skypes contacts, I promise not to call you a lot. haha

I've invited all my sisters to use Skype.  I haven't heard anything back yet, so I thought maybe they thought I was going to be calling all the time.  ^-^  They know me better than that.

Any more on Janet and Darrel?  Beth?

My SIL changed the oil in my car today.  He's sure taking care of me.  He fixed a leak in the tubing from my oil barrel last night.  It just needed to be tightened, and I wasn't strong enough.   I know he was overly strict with Angel, and did some really wrong things in discipline (just ignorance, not wrong motivations)but he's been really good to me.

5:49 pm and dark out.  I see some porch lights, and a few Christmas lights.  And I see that I've made this post way too long.

G'night, family of God.  Nita

Janet

Good evening!  I'm still around; just had a very busy day today.  I didn't have time to post before church this morning, as I was on a call to my youngest daughter, to whom I only get to speak very rarely.  She was really talkative, and so I listened until I had barely enough time to get ready for church.  After church, we rushed home, warmed up the food left from last night, and I rushed off with Pat and Sue for the annual Parade of Homes.  We had a really good time, and there were six homes on the tour, all beautifully decorated, and all so different one from the other.

Darrel came in and met us at church for cantata practice at 4:30......and we are just home from the evening service.  Darrel asked Pastor Kurt if he could testify about the events of this past week, and I was so thrilled.  I don't think he ever testified before!  God is SOOOO good; and it is wonderful to be a part of His forever family.  Darrel is quite tired, but as I told him, he's been through a lot this week.

Larry, the stents they are using now have a tiny cube attached to them containing some kind of medicine which prevents them from clogging.  They have changed a lot of things in the four years since Darrel's first stent.  And that one is still clear, no sign of clogging!  PTL!!

I need to go find a bite to eat, it's been a while since lunch!

I will download Skype too, maybe tomorrow.  Can't let you guys have alll the fun!  (Isn't that what Nita said?)

So much to do...........so little time!  But does it really matter in the long run?

Beth leaves on Thursday......... :'(

Much thanks to everyone who sent me wishes on my birthday.   Wow I am 65 years old!   I never thought I would ever be 65!  Sounds so old!    Well I had a wonderful birthday with my kids up at New Beginnings Christian School.   My daughter planned it at the school because she is the Principal.  It is big for a big family like mine. I have 14 grandchildren.  They were all there! <3

Thank you Pat for those amazing cards you sent to me with all the action and music.   Just loved them.

Janet, I hope Darrell is doing better.  Have been praying for him.

God bless.

Well ... I was 65 five years ago ... I never paid attention to the fact until I was notified recently that now "since I'm 70 and a half" I need to take a total distribution from an account I had also forgotten about!  :-\  How did I manage to get to this age without noticing??

I just want to say to all y'all ... I will NEVER call any of you on Skype.  :yakyakyak: I will always be eager to hear your voices however.  I just don't want to force my slooooow southern drawl upon any unsuspecting people, okay?  :-[   If you call me then it's on you!  haha

PapaJohn, I have added you to my list of contacts.

I s'pose I need to see about doing something else for a while, other than sitting here at the computer.  I have been trying to keep a fire going in my stove but that seems to mean I need to keep an eye on it at all times.  For some reason the wood just doesn't want to burn well lately.   :-\

Gotta go ... I'll be listening for my Skype phone to ring soon ....  :yakyakyak:   ;)
