Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

Jesus on Relationships
Matthew 5:31-48  NLT

31"You have heard that the law of Moses says, `A man can divorce his wife by merely giving her a letter of divorce.'  32But I say that a man who divorces his wife, unless she has been unfaithful, causes her to commit adultery. And anyone who marries a divorced woman commits adultery.

33"Again, you have heard that the law of Moses says, `Do not break your vows; you must carry out the vows you have made to the Lord.' 34But I say, don't make any vows! If you say, `By heaven!' it is a sacred vow because heaven is God's throne. 35And if you say, `By the earth!' it is a sacred vow because the earth is his footstool. And don't swear, `By Jerusalem!' for Jerusalem is the city of the great King. 36Don't even swear, `By my head!' for you can't turn one hair white or black. 37Just say a simple, `Yes, I will,' or `No, I won't.' Your word is enough. To strengthen your promise with a vow shows that something is wrong.

38"You have heard that the law of Moses says, `If an eye is injured, injure the eye of the person who did it. If a tooth gets knocked out, knock out the tooth of the person who did it.' 39But I say, don't resist an evil person! If you are slapped on the right cheek, turn the other, too. 40If you are ordered to court and your shirt is taken from you, give your coat, too. 41If a soldier demands that you carry his gear for a mile, carry it two miles. 42Give to those who ask, and don't turn away from those who want to borrow.

43"You have heard that the law of Moses says, `Love your neighbor' and hate your enemy. 44But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you! 45In that way, you will be acting as true children of your Father in heaven. For he gives his sunlight to both the evil and the good, and he sends rain on the just and on the unjust, too. 46If you love only those who love you, what good is that? Even corrupt tax collectors do that much. 47If you are kind only to your friends, how are you different from anyone else? Even pagans do that. 48But you are to be perfect, even as your Father in heaven is perfect.

What part of your life could be most radically changed by these words?

   How can we be perfect?

   1)  In character.  In this life we cannot be flawless, but we can aspire to be as much like Christ as possible.

   2)  In holiness.  We are to separate ourselves from the world's sinful values and be devoted to God's desires rather than our own.

   3)  In maturity.  We can't achieve Christlike character and holy living all at once, but we must grow toward maturity and wholeness.  Just as we expect different behavior from a baby, a child, a teenaer, and an adult, so God expects different behavior from us, depending on our stage of spiritual development.

   4)  In love.  We can seek to love others as completely as God loves us.  We can be perfect if our behavior is appropriate for our maturity level--perfect, yet with much room to grow.

Our tendency to sin must never deter us from striving to be more like Christ.  Christ calls all of his disciples to excel, to rise above mediocrity, and to mature in every area, becoming like him.

Those who strive to become perfect will one day be perfect, even as Christ is perfect (1 John 3:23).

Thanks to you who have taken a look-see at the Victorian Dinner photos.  No, it isn't a money making project...well, it is and it isn't.  It is put on by the WOW..Women Of Worth...at church.  So they use the money for funeral dinners, shutin dinners, new mother dinners, just out of the hospital dinners, toys for the needy, clothing for the needy...you name it, they do it.

The speaker said Saturday night that she approached the Senior Minister 10 years ago about having a Victorian Dinner where 18 women brought their china, crystal, silver and decorations for 18 tables.  She asked him then if the church was insured.  Can you imagine 61 tables now!!

Pat ~  No, I don't have a favorite china pattern.  I have my mother's china, though.  It is well used and chipped.  I have had it 4 years and haven't eaten off of it yet!

Janet ~ I am praying you have a safe trip taking Beth to the airport and that she is a safe trip to be with John.  I am praying she stays as healthy as possible so she and John can enjoy each other.

I have been sitting in this chair nearly all day.  I made Christmas cards and address envelopes.  Then made 6 calendars to give to family members.  My printer kept stopping on me so I probably rebooted over a dozen times printing cards and calendars!  And this is a fairly new printer...summer, this year.

It is suppose to be bad weather.  Heavy snow warning in effect from 1 PM Thursday to 4 AM est Friday.  And I have a chiropractor appointment at 2:30 PM and want to go to the grocery, too!  We will see what happens!

Etta Sue~ I toured your photo site and really enjoyed all the beautiful photos of your Victorian Dinner.  It looks like a really special occasion and one that is not only special for all the participants but beneficial for the WOW as well ... Thanks for all your hard work!

Janet~I can "read between the lines" of all your posts and see your mother's heart aching for Beth and her future.  You have put so much of yourself into her life and well-being and it seems unappreciated.  You need to know she will be okay and that God is in control.  Sometimes, as mothers, we feel so much love and compassion for our kids and wonder if they even know how we feel for them.  God knows!  Be assured that He will be there for Beth as well as for you...And for all the rest of the family.  He really is a personal God.  He loves each one of us and cares deeply for what concerns us.
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Etta Sue, nice devotional this morning.  Speaking of immature behaviour.  A friend of mine criticised her grandaughter saying that her behaviour was ungodly.  The child's mother (my friend's daughter) decided not to speak to her mother again.  Now my friend is extremely ill and still the daughter hasn't got in touch.  Would you agree with me that for one christian to refuse to speak to another christian is utterly immature and foolish and has no basis in scripture?  I am sure with some thought you will agree.  Nice devotional.

Karma, I am sorry about the sickness in your family and I do pray that the little child will soon recover.  I am sure that others will be praying too.

I do hope everyone has a great day today.

Anthony.

Dear All here on PC,  Etta Sue, Jane, Rainbow.. And everyone else  today..

It is a wonderful morning so far of course it is only 4:30am, but I know that God has an awesome day planned for all of us..

A friend of mine sent this to me and I thought I 'd pass it on.

Who Started This Christmas Stuff ?

A woman was out Christmas shopping with her two children. After many hours of looking at row after row of toys and everything else imaginable; and after hours of hearing both her children asking for everything they saw on those many selves, she finally made it to the elevator with her two kids.

She was feeling what so many of us feel during the holiday season time of the year. Overwhelming pressure to go to every party, every housewarming, taste all the holiday food and treats, getting that perfect gift for every single person on our shopping list, making sure we don't forget anyone on our card list, and the pressure of making sure we respond to everyone who sent us a card.

Finally the elevator doors opened and there was already a crowd in the car. She pushed her way into the car and dragged her two kids in with her and all the bags of stuff. When the doors closed she couldn't take it anymore and stated, "Whoever started this whole Christmas thing should be found, strung up and shot."

From the back of the car, everyone heard a quiet calm voice respond, "Don't worry, we already crucified Him." For the rest of the trip down the elevator it was so quiet you could have heard a pin drop.

Don't forget this year to keep the One who started this whole Christmas thing in your every thought, deed, purchase, and word. If we all did it, just think of how different this whole world would be.

Hi everyone.  It is a blustery and very chilly day here in Georgia with some sleet forecast for us later in the day.  This is my Calvin Cove day so hope it holds off until late this evening.

Janet, I understand your deep concern for Beth as she makes this extended trip to New York.  I see you mentioned nursing homes and Beth's denial of her need for such help.  We all want to maintain our independence but sometimes things get to a point where we can't help ourselves anymore and then we need to take into account the impact this situation is having on our loved ones and there ability to cope.

I know that my dad had hoped very much to be able to return home after his leg amputation and long recovery and we considered possible ways to accommodate this such as hiring someone to come in several hours a day and provide care.  However, we finally had to face reality, and my dad never argued with us as he was a very intelligent person, that neither my wife nor I were physically able to care for him and he could get the care he needed at the nursing home.  We were fortunate to be in small town areas both in Missouri and Iowa and the nursing homes were pretty good.  Especially was the this the case with the Good Samaritan home in Iowa that is run by the Lutheran church where they dealt with the spiritual as well as physical needs of its residents and everyone was treated with great dignity.  Both mother and dad had very good care and never complained about having to be there.  I can very well anticipate that one day we may face the same situation with our daughter if she is no longer able to walk since neither my wife or I could lift her.

Etta Sue, I haven't had a chance to look at your photos yet but will as I remember how pretty they were last year.  Be careful in all that snow coming your way.  Thanks for the devotional today.

I finally got started on my Christmas cards and letters and have decided that there are several people that I will call this year rather than send a card.  Guess I had better get busy.

Anthony, it is such a shame when there is a split in a family over a comment or one instance.  Everyone is hurt in these situations and for what result.  I made the decision a long time ago that although I might disagree with words or actions by family members 100%, I would not allow them to sever ties with them.

Marilyn

Good Morning Thank you Etta Sue for the devotional, I am sure it takes you a long time to get it written and posted. I did go look at your photo album on the Victoria Dinner, Everything gets prettier every year.

Today I am taking both client shopping. Jan 92 uses her  nice walker that she can sit on if she gets tired. We are going to Eureka this morning and are both doing some shopping.

This afternoon I will take Versal and her wheelchair. It is hard to keep  loading and unloading the wheelchair as Janet is well aware. She has been very tired lately and the oxygen doesn't seem to be helping her much, although she is breathing better.

So now I will go fix my breakfast and will be back later.

Good morning.  Kristi goes back to the dr this afternoon.  Travis's stomach seems to be settled.  I, for one, am exhausted and thankful for Bernard's parents who are helping us with them.

Sorry I can't write more.  Gotta shower, etc to get ready to take K.

Etta Sue - the expression on that cat's face is one of ecestacy, but there's no way a cat would be happy whirling around in water!  Too blessed to be stressed?  Uh uh.  Too stressed to be blessed.  Poor cat.

I gotta go have my teeth cleaned today. Oh what fun!  And then we have what's called our "Sunny Group" (Sunnybrae Church home group) this evening, and I'm supposed to lead the Bible study portion of it  I'm not ready yet.  Oh well - God is ready!

Well, I thought I would get back to you after Bible study so here I am,

Etta Sue, Thank you fro your morning devotional.. I am so pleased that Our father in Heaven has a plan for us  and that HE sets limits on all of our lives. So many peole have a hard enogh time behaving  and  thinking that we can just live as WE please, which is so wrong.. Etta Sue, I don't know where to find your Victorian gallery, I looked in photos, Would you mind me looking in on them and tell me how..

Welcome, Froach.. This is a wonderful place to hang out with great people..

Janet, you sweet Dear, you have your hands so full, I am praying about Beth for you and Darrel also. And you too!! The Joy of the Lord..I know thats what keeps you so strong..You are a great witness to all..

Morning larry.. How are you?

karmat, I hope the family is feeling some what better today,  the winter bug is out again..

I have been up since 3:30 am with Cherly, she had some congestion in her lungs this morning also, she dose not have the ablitiy to cough so I stayed up with her trying to get her to take some fluids and maybe it would wash it down, Thank you God, it did, she was uo all night and is now starting to rest again. So once again am I up all night but I don't feel it yet..  :idiot:

Al, How are you? It is so nice to see you too.

And Marilyn, Whats going on to the north of me?? Do you miss my side of town?

I have already heard people saying things about the Holidays, I LOVE them,  I spend 5 days cooking for my family and friends for Thanksgiving dinner(25) in all, and I love it. I want my chrildren and grandchildren home Christmas morning so I put on a BIG dinner TG day and then I relax about the rest, I am an early shopper and am 75% done with my list of to do's which allows me to just give more of my time and energy on what really matters, God and my family and friends..

Thats why I posted that letter my friend sent me as there are so many who stress out over one day of the year and act like the rest of the year just didn't matter..  It dose matter, it all matters,  "  Its what matters " , did we feed the poor,  pray for our family and friends,  do what God has called us to do, because if we didn't then what difference do we think the "perfect gift "would make anyway. Because it's really what we give of ourselves everyday,  And not just a gift we give  on one day. Isn't  it???

During this busy time when winter is here and we are all so busy with family and friends I just want to remind all of you how much I love all of you  here on CP and even though I am not here nearly enough I think about this is the best time when I do come in and see all of you here, Thank You.

Thanks for the devotional, Etta Sue.  I had a quick peek at your photo's and will go back for a real look when time permits.  Beautiful!

We are having chilly weather for the island....and me :ticked:  It is so damp that the colder air really makes an impact on old bones!  At least the snow and ice have finally left the lawn and grass is once again green.  So all is right with the world.  I have to make an extra warm bed on the car for Misty at night as she sleeps in the garage.  On top of the car.  Nothing like a portable bed...she is often moved so the car can leave, my, that goes over well!

Al, strangely it seems that cats do like water, even taking a bath with their owners.  I am reading a book 'The Cat Who Came For Christmas', by Cleveland Amory, and he took in a wild, stray cat that was living in a New York Alley.  It is a really interesting story and I am learning much about cats that is quite amazing. This is a real nice book for animal lovers.....

I am also reading another book, 'A Foxfire Christmas', by Eliot Wigginton.  It is about Appalachian Christmas traditions, older folks remembering traditions, decorations, menus, etc.  Even includes some wonderful recipes.  I always have at least two or three books on the go and am a voracious reader.  Used to get up very early in the morning to get in reading time before preparing kids for school and leaving for work.

Janet, I will continue to pray for Beth and your family.

My son-in-law's mother is dying of cancer and probably won't make it until Christmas when all the family is due to come home.  This is very hard on them as they are a very close family and it will make future Christmas holidays sad....
It is difficult to know what to pray for as she is no longer able to eat, etc.  Will simply pray that God will take care of her and not let her suffer.  They are strong Catholics and that has always made problems for Wendy, as she would not change her faith.  Oh well, God will take care of all this....My oldest brother (who we never see) is also dying and not a Christian of any sort....nor is my sister in Australia, who is getting over a cancer operation.  I keep telling Wendy that this is going to be a bumpy road for the next few years, so many people are in bad health.  All one can do is pray for them and help where possible.

Can anyone tell me if Skype program works with Cable connection.  I do not use the phone hook-up.  Have not had anytime to check all that out, what with Christmas baking, Curling on TV, etc.  Curling is a sad thing this year, my Randy Ferby team is a disaster and Colleen Jones is right down in the tank with them! :ticked:

Time to get busy.  Here is a little something I read.  Does not qualifiy as a joke.

All in the Family

One cold evening during the holiday season, a little boy about six or seven was standing out in front of a store window. The little child had no shoes on and his clothes were mere rags.

A young woman passing by saw the little boy and could read the longing in his pale blue eyes. She took the child by the hand and led him into the store. There she bought him new shoes and a complete suit of warm clothing.

They came back outside into the street and the woman said to the child, "Now you can go home and have a very happy holiday."

The little boy looked up at her and asked, "are you God, Ma'am?" She smiled down at him and replied, "No son, I'm just one of His children."

The little boy then said, "I knew you had to be some relation."

                                      0:-)

Pleasant Day all and God Bless.

Liz - that's a truly beautiful story!  It's at least a one-kleenex one.  Oh that people who would do that for a little child might be multiplied by the thousands!

Alma - I'm doin ok at the moment, other than getting older much too quickly.

Liz - I had the impression that cata absolutely hated water.  Of course maybe they just give you that impression when they're bothered by it on occasion.  They can certainly give impressions.

Oh Father, we pray for little Kristi.  We pray You'll bless the antibiotic to her and heal her quickly.  And we pray for Karmat as well, that You'll give her strength and grace through Jesus our Lord.

karmat

Thank ya'll.  She's resting right now.  Nevermind, she just woke up.  ;)  gotta go

Liz, yes Skype works with cable or any Internet connection.  I think Jane has learned that while it works with dial-up it may affect the voice quality.  When someone calls you will hear a ring like a telephone but it will be from your computer.

Karmat and Nards, certainly hope your little one feels better soon.  They get very sick but seem to respond quickly as well as I am sure you have learned with Travis.

Marilyn

Alma I don't miss the desert at all. I love it up here in the Redwoods and especially being close to my youngest son and his family. That is the best part. He insisted that I move here and even went to the desert to move me, he put up with a frightened dog all the way here. Happy didn't calm down until e got about 4 hours aways from here and it was and 18 hour ride. My son me and the dog in the truck and My DIL had the other two dogs in the car.  Well that is my last long distance move. One of them kept growling at her.

So I am very happy here.

Hello folks!

I've not felt the greatest today and spent quite a bit of time in my warm bed.  Now I'm watching the CNN news about the plane that sort of crash landed at about 7:30 pm this evening.  What a lot of snow they are getting there.

Sorry about Kristi, Karma.  Will be praying for her.

I'll be back later.

I was just sitting thinking about Janet and having to say "Farewell" to Beth.  So difficult.

Been humming this a lot today...

He Lifted Me
(Click to hear music)

Words and Music by Charles H. Gabriel

"For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.  But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
Titus 3:3-5

In loving kindness Jesus came,
My soul in mercy to reclaim,
And from the depths of sin and shame
Thro' grace He lifted me.

Refrain
From sinking sand, He lifted me,
With tender hand, He lifted me,
From shades of night to planes of light,
O praise His name, He lifted me!

He called me long before I heard,
Before my sinful heart was stirred,
But when I took Him at His Word,
Forgiv'n He lifted me.

Refrain
From sinking sand, He lifted me,
With tender hand, He lifted me,
From shades of night to planes of light,
O praise His name, He lifted me!

His brow was pierced with many a thorn,
His hands by cruel nails were torn,
When from my guilt and grief forlorn,
In love He lifted me.

Refrain
From sinking sand, He lifted me,
With tender hand, He lifted me,
From shades of night to planes of light,
O praise His name, He lifted me!

I'm late getting here tonight for some reason.  But at least I'm here.  :)

Weather report from the northeast:  Cold (it was below zero last night), windy, clear most of the day but clouding up fast.  Starting sometime around midnight we're supposed to get our first real snow storm of this season.  The prediction for this area is eight inches but we'll see.  The last time, they said a dusting to an inch and we got four inches.  Anyway, I brought my "back-saver" snow shovel into the house to have it ready for the morning.  And my car has four beautiful new tires!   :D

Janet

Good evening.  This has been a hard day.  I was up until midnight, awake at three, up at four, off to Garden by 5.........

We brought Beth over here last night, so I could load her inside the garage instead of out in the cold.  Also had all her stuff in the car, so that saved me time and effort this morning.  She was totally helpless this morning; legs as stiff as boards.  It took every ounce of my effort and will to bend her knees enough to get her feet into the car.  My friend Pat went with me, so that was a help.  I was so distressed that Pat offered to drive, which I appreciated.

It was -8* when we got to the airport!  We got her checked in, waited for her plane, watched them strap her onto the straight wheelchair every which way, and carry her up into the plane.  Then I lost it, and Pat held me while I sobbed.  :'(

And NOW..........John just let me know she didn't make it to Syracuse!  She missed her connection in Chicago, and now is stranded there because of a snowstorm and a plane going off the runway.  He waited in Syracuse at the airport for over three hours and then drove home when he learned she was still in Chicago.  He said they are to get a big storm tonight too.......... :'(

Now I am REALLY upset!  I'm going to call the Garden City Airport and ask if they have any way to find out where she is and if they are taking care of her............... :'( :'( :'(

Oh, Janet.  I wish there was something I could do, or someone I knew in that area we could call.  We just have to trust Jesus.  This is kinda irrelevant, but I had a friend tell me once that years ago, when her oldest daughter was young, she was very very sick, and Francis (my friend) wasn't sure if she would make it.  Like you, she agonized in prayer and supplication until one day, an older wiser woman told her, "Francis, do you love Ginger?"  Of course she did.  "You do realize that God loves her even more."  I know you love Beth, but God loves her even more and HE is taking care of her.  It will be okay.  {{{{{{HGUS}}}}}}

Oh Janet, My heart is breaking for you. I would be going absolutely bonkers with worry if I were in your shoes. I am praying for you dear sister.

Janet, my heart goes out to you.  :(  Karma has said it so well - as much as you love Beth, Jesus loves her (and you) even more.  It's hard at a time like this to leave Beth in His loving hands, I know.  But nothing happens without His knowledge, and He is in control.  Be assured my prayers are going up right now for His protection of Beth and His peace and comfort for you.

What beautiful words, KARMA!  And so very true.   <3

Janet ... My heart is hurting too ... But, as Karma said, we have to trust her Father to know just how to care for her and that He WILL.  I know your heart is so heavy ... and it is such a blessing that Pat was with you to lend you that shoulder.  Even that is God's way of caring for you ... bringing Pat into your life when you needed support and love and the comfort of Christian friendship.

I'm praying ....
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Heavenly Father, we know that You are watching over Beth right now, and I thank you for that.  We trust You to take care of her in the very best way possible, and I pray for You to comfort Janet.  I pray that You would just let Janet be able to find out that Beth is in good shape, and I pray for Your help and strength for both of them.

In Jesus name, amen.

Janet, I am so sorry and I know how anxious you must be.  But God will take care of your daughter and this nightmare will soon be over.  God bless you and Beth.  Years ago our daughter we put our daughter , Beth, on a plane in Belgium flying back to Nashville to begin her college.  Due to a snow storm she was stranded in New York.  She was able to call a friend in Nashville who in turn called us.  She, just 18 years old, had to take a bus from Kennedy to another airport, I forget which, and we were called a second time when she got there.  Finally the next day we got a call that she had arrived safely in Nashville.  God took  care of our Beth and I am convinced he will take care of your Beth.

Eph 2:8-9  For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-- and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-- not by works, so that no one can boast.(NIV)

Janet

A nice man at the Garden City airport traced her and said she missed the connection to Chicago in Denver, was re-booked on a later one, arrived in Chicago at 2:05, was booked on another flight to Syracuse, but it was canceled due to the weather, and is rebooked for a morning flight at 8:55 tomorrow.  But there is a terrible snowstorm in that whole area, and I haven't been able to find out if they took her to a motel or what.......

He gave me an 800# for United, but it is one of those exasperating automated "press 1 ofr, press 2 for, etc." things and I can't get a real person to answer..... :ticked:

Thanks friends for your prayers................... :'(

I wouldn't feel so anxious if she could walk, or if she had a cell phone, or even a calling card..........she asked me to get her one yesterday, and I forgot...... :'(
