Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

Personal Life:
Personal Feeding on God's Word

Oh, how I love Your law! It is my meditation all the day.
--Psalm 119:97

I remember James M. Gray, the noted Bible teacher, telling of a Christian brother, a Michigan farmer, whose spiritual life had suddenly blossomed until there was an overflowing of God's presence. Many in the man's community recognized the change in his life and personality and sought spiritual counsel from him. Dr. Gray had opportunity to ask the man about the transformation of his spiritual life and witness.

"Dr. Gray, I began to devote myself to the Scriptures for my own need," the man humbly explained. "Something happened when God opened my spiritual understanding as I studied the book of Ephesians. I cannot really explain what the Lord is doing for me and through me, but it has come through prayerful meditation in the Word of God."

None of us can expect to get the rich, transforming blessings from God apart from the Scriptures....

Too many of us ministers and Sunday school teachers are content to reach for a commmentary on the Scriptures. What we need most is to search the Scriptures for ourselves.
Dr. Tozer in Men Who Met God, 47.

"The commentaries are so convenient, Lord, and the time pressures so acute. Deliver me today from the short-cuts, and help me to discipline myself to long, concentrated study of the Scriptures themselves. Amen."

Thanks dear Bro.  It's one of my favorites.  You can definitely hear the clop, clop, clop of the horse as the rider goes about trying to bring the dogies home.  Like I said, though - I didn't know you Brits knew anything about cowboying.  Where do you do that - somewhere along the Thames?

Glad you liked it Al, as to British cowboys,,, well.... we have horses, cows and boys, but they don't always get together, but then how many cowboys are hanging around the Trinidad or Eureka corrals, lol.
As a teenager I was hooked on Hank Williams, Jim Reeves, Hank Snow and Patsy Cline!
Yes, Elvis etc. too and the John wayne and Roy Rogers films.
Happy Trails to you pardner. :) ;) :D

That explains it.  We from the colonies have finally conquered the motherland.  The only thing you did wrong, though, was to mispronounce a word.  It isn't "pardner" - it's "podnah."

By the way - most of the "cowboys" are down New Mexico way.  Just ask Johny Cash.  We do have a few in northern Cal though.  There's a lot of bull around here.

Marilyn

Ok Al and Chris you two are cracking me up. We didn't have too many cowboys down inthe wine country either. I grew up down in the Lodi Vineyards, But I got to ride the tractors, and climb the trees. I am just country. Bluegrass music coming fromthe instruments of my family gatherings filled with music from the southern states hills. Missouri and Kentucky  :thumbsup2:

Morning folks.  PAt the devotional is a good one.  I am printing it out to take a better read later this AM  Did your company arrive safely?

Judy we will be down south in April some time, I will bring them down then.  DO you have any colour preferances?  I am going to be selling at craft shows as well next year.

The weather has taken a turn.  There are very strong N winds and the temperature has droppes about 15*C degrees.  The cat was at the window just a howling. I guess he doesn't like the cold.

MElaura is still asleep.  That seems to be the norm with teens today.  Boy does she go hard during the week.  I would say the rest is needed.

Well I have a lot to do before John gets home, tonight, so bye for now and God Bless

Etta Sue

Good morning.  Ivalou, Tony, Charlene and I had a great evening.  We ate at 'On the Border'...a Mexican restaurant that I hadn't tried yet!  Really good.  Tony came this morning and replaced the fuse that had blown.  Glad that is taken care of.  If it blows again, then I know I need an electrician.

Today is the 60 Chix luncheon.  I don't think many will be there so it will be a more intimate meeting.

Oh, yes....I posted my recipe here.  Click on Pizza Soup.  It has more than five ingredients so it was a touch one for me to fix!   :idiot:

Hello everyone!!!  The wind is something fierce today, and it is snowing.  BUT, it is supposed to be sunny and in the mid 50s tomorrow.  That is how it is here -- Don't like the weather, wait a few minutes it will change. :)  Actually, I am hoping it does change because I am supposed to drive to Bristol, VA tomorrow (about 2 hours for me), and Bernard has to go to Salemsburg (south of Greensboro, about a 6 hour trip, one way, for him).  Lots of driving.  Please pray for our safeties.

Bernard and Travis have gone to take the vehicles to get the oil changed.  Kristi is asleep, and it is sooooooooooo quiet here.  'Cept for the wind blowing.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend, and staying warm!

 :) Hey Karmat,

What's the weather like in the mountains in the beginning of April?  We are going to Pigeon Forge the 2nd weekend of April. Don't want to get snowed in or anything like that!

With your Mary Kay meetings do you ever see Sonya Issacs?  Just curious! :sidedance:

Just ask Johny Cash.
I will ask him Al, but I will have to wait, he went to be with his Lord not too long ago! :)

Melaura has opened a ring of shrimp and is calling me to join her in eating it.   Yummy!

Chris Johnny Cash was one of my favourites as well.  Music in Nashville has lost a great one.

Bye for now

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.

We have a very windy day here and it is really chilly.  However, the sun is shining so that helps.

Right after coffee this morning my friend Rod and I went to the mall area.  First I stopped at Kaiser for a blood test and had to wait about 45 minutes.  We then went over to Fry's, the computer electronic's store, where we bought 4 webcams and headsets to be used as door prizes at our next PC User Group Meeting.  Since that is what our program will focus on we thought these would be good prizes.

We then went to the Georgia Diner and each had a Western Omelet, which was very good.  I cam home and took a nap.  That has been my day so far.

Etta Sue, we have one of the "On the Border" Mexican restruants fairly close to us.  Glad Tony was able to get your fuse fixed.

Pat, thanks for the devotional today.

Etta Sue - I really like that graphic of yours that changes colors - it's really quite pretty.

Chris - I hate to admit it but most of your teenage favorites were mine as well.  But Cash was number one.  Then, along with that, I also like Bach, along with the old Lutheran hymnal and the Scottish Psalter.

Marilyn - I REALLY love that kind of music and its instruments.  Real ethnic folk music, particularly Gospel - that's GREAT stuff!

Janet

Hey there, everybody, how you doing?  I had a busy day today, went to my painting group meeting in Jetmore.  That's a long way to drive to paint a project, but three of us went together, so that makes it better.  Today we did something really different---we painted on a printed sheet of scrapbooking paper!  I will have to take a photo of it to show you.  It was quite a challenge, but turned out pretty cute.

My arm/shoulder is giving me a LOT of pain, so I am thinking I damaged it in that fall in Mexico, and that I am going to have to go see about it.  Who should I start with-- a chiropractor?  Or a doctor?  I'm thinking chiropractor.........  I sure don't want it to continue to get worse, and it has been doing so for the past several days.  I have been living on pain pills, yuck.

I really am looking forward to going to church tomorrow, I've missed it!  We had a tragedy in our church while I was away, though.  A little 8 year old girl passed away.  She was born hydroencaphalic, and hadn't been able to eat, talk, walk, or anything all her life, but her family adored her. They had all been sick, and she got a bad resperitory infection which took her life.  She has a 12 year old brother.  I know it will be so hard for the family, even though they are strong Christians and know little JaCinda is now whole and happy and in heaven.  They lost a little boy in the past, but I don't know the circumstances of that one.

See you another day!

Not much activity here today. However I have been here a few times to read and not post. So now I am about to get ready for bed, make a phone call to my  friend Willa.  Then go int he bedroom to watch TV in there while curled up in my nice warm bed. It is cold outside..

Nite all.

Marilyn and Al,

My husband Terry, plays the mandolin in a Southern Gospel/Bluegrass group here at home.  Just local, not the big time.

We like the Primitive QT (from Karmat's neck of the woods) and Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver.
