JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Morning Devotional...

Personal Life:
Longing for God

As the deer pants for the water brooks, so pants my soul for You, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God?
--Psalm 42:1-2

O God, I have tasted Thy goodness, and it has both satisfied me and
made me thirsty for more.

I am painfully conscious of my need of further grace. I am ashamed of my lack of desire. O God, the Triune God, I want to want Thee; I long to be filled with longing; I thirst to be made more thirsty still.

Show me Thy glory, I pray Thee, that so I may know Thee indeed. Begin in mercy a new work of love within me. Say to my soul, "Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away."

Then give me grace to rise and follow Thee up from this misty lowland where I have wandered so long. In Jesus' name. Amen.
Dr. Tozer in The Pursuit of God, 20.

"...I want to want Thee; I long to be filled with longing; I thirst
to be made more thirsty still. Amen."

Written by Martin Nystrom

Psalm 42:1
"As the hart panteth after the water brooks,
so panteth my soul after thee, O God."

As the deer panteth for the water,
So my soul longs after you.
You alone are my hearts desire,
And I long to worship You.

Chorus
You alone are my strength, my shield;
To You alone may my spirit yield.
You alone are my hearts desire,
and I long to worship You.

I want you more than gold or silver,
Only You can satisfy.
You alone are the real joy giver
And the apple of my eye.

Chorus
You alone are my strength, my shield;
To You alone may my spirit yield.
You alone are my hearts desire,
and I long to worship You.

You're my friend and You're my brother,
Even though you are a King.
I love You more than any other
So much more than anything.

Chorus
You alone are my strength, my shield;
To You alone may my spirit yield.
You alone are my hearts desire,
and I long to worship You.

Pat, that song is so beautiful.  We used to sing that all the time in church, but I haven't heard it in awhile.  And the devotional is just what I needed. A beautiful prayer by our brother Tozer.

We had rain today, and sunshine today, and clouds today, and more rain today. :)  Just an all around good Oregon kind of day.

The only thing I did today was wash dishes, do a load of clothes, vacuum and go to the vet to get flea stuff for the dogs.  We have a low cost clinic here, and that makes it really nice.

And I'm ready for bed, so will say goodnight and blessings to all.   Nita

Hi everyone.  I slept in this morning as didn't have to be anywhere early.  I am ready for church and we will leave in about 45 minutes.  Following church today we are invited to a surprise birthday brunch for one of Pat's friends.  It is being given by her daughters.

It is cold here again today but the wind seems to have gone away.  It really blew hard around here yesterday.

Janet, sorry to read that your shoulder is hurting you more and more.  It was nice that you could carpool to your painting class yesterday.  What is news concerning Beth?

Marilyn, are you still awaiting word on an apointment for the sleep clinic?

Nita, I can't image living where there is so much rain.  Guess you always keep an umbrella handy.

Pat, thanks for the devotional today.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Pat

Good Morning Everyone!

Nita,
I really like that song as well.  I love to sing it often and have it playing here now in the background.  Sorry that you get so much rain but your grass must be so healthy in the spring and summer.  ;)

Sorry you couldn't sleep Marilyn.  I have so many nights like that.

I hope that you have a good time at the surprise brunch, Larry.  I enjoy it when a person has gone to all the trouble of making a surprise party and then it finally IS a surprise.  I had two such birthdays for Jack--one was his 50th and the other was his 60th--and he had absolutely no idea and both were a total surprise.  Made all the work worthwhile.

Chris, I enjoy George Hamilton IV as well.   ;)  I never got tired of listening to him sing "Four Strong Winds".

SUE not sure if I told you how happy I was to see you back posting again.  I think of you often.  I crave a bit of your whipped shortbread right now. ;)

Great to have you home, Janet and looking forward to seeing lots of photos of your trip.  I was also wondering about Beth and how she's doing.

Must go as I have a few things to do and I am still having difficulty with this silly leg of mine.

Chris - I'd sure like to hear some of Hamilton's stuff.

Janet - that shoulder/arm ailment sounds more like a medical problem to me - unless there's associated back pain as well.

Nita - it's wonderful the way the weather changes up there.  We lived in the Portland area for many years, so we know what you mean.  It's like that here, but not quite as much rain overall.  It's no wonder the air is so clear up there - it keeps getting washed! :coffee:

Jimmie Rogers yes I remember him, don't recall George Hamilton IV.

I do know who Quicksilver is Samantha.
I like Hank Williams, Sr. and Jr.There are so many locals here too that I can't remember the names.  Mostly I listen to them on the net.

Hello to all. I just came home form church .Our messages today was do not grow weary in well doing you will reap what you have sown if you faint not.
It is warm here today and I am so glad.
Praying that you will all have a great day.

Janet

Hello!  We are home from church too, and I am planning to drive over to Hugoton to see Mark.  He came home again to help Dad work on the store.

We had a wonderful service today, and it felt so good to be back home with our church family.

Thanks for asking about Beth.  She is not doing well at all, and is going to come home soon.  She knows she is getting worse as the days go by, and no therapy is available (that she knows of) there.  She spends the whole day sitting in her wheel chair, so her feet are swelling more and more.

Darrel and I have been talking about what options we can think of to help Beth.  He says he will put in a wider front door on her trailer; lengthen the ramp and pour a concrete slab at the bottom; install more grab bars and maybe a trapeze over her bed.  She will need to get Home Health back to assist her with her showering and a few things.  And Dr. Plumlee will sign for her to get a motorized scooter of some kind, so she can get around on that.  Lots to think about, and most will be up to us, as there are so few services available here for someone her age who is disabled but not on Medicaid.   :-\ :'(

I hope she doesn't run into bad weather on the way home like she did when she went to NY.

Larry, hope you enjoyed the birthday brunch.  You are always so faithful about posting and commenting to each of us, and I for one, really enjoy and appreciate that.

I talked to Curtis about my camera and he thinks it probably can be repaired.  So I need to do a search on Google to see what I can learn about it.  I hope it can be repaired at a reasonable cost, I love that camera!

Pat, I will try to post some photos soon, I'm having trouble understanding how to get to things with the Walmart discs. :-[

'Tis cold here on the island!  Finally stopped raining .... think we almost broke all the records this year.

Woke up at about 12.30 AM to a loud noise that sounded like someone was moving the huge machine that has been causing the houses to shake for weeks.  Construction of new homes.....Turned out we has a 3.9 Earthquake that was from Victoria to Nanaimo and the Gulf Islands.  Not enought to damage anything, but surely did scare the animals.  Me too! ???

Watched People's Church this morning and it was most interesting.  Olive Fleming Lifeld was the guest.  Widow of one of the men killed by natives in Equador in 1956.  She spoke of how the mission work carried on and so many were led to believe in God and put down their spears.  A very inspiring testimony about redemption and forgiveness.  What courage the people have to take part in the Mission Field.  They are a special group of Christians and it shows in their lives and faces....

All this talk about country & bluegrass music...I love both.  Have eclectic taste in music, everything from classics to Bluegrass.  Enjoyed the links,  Chris & Margit.  Never paid much attention to George Hamilton IV....and me a Canadian!  Sure do like Ricky Skaggs, The Whites, etc.  So many great groups and new ones coming all the time, like the Grascals, etc.  Lots of Gospel, lots of pure Bluegrass.  Like Marilyn, I listen to many on the net.  I guess my favorite Canadian country singer is still Ian Tyson, used to be Folk, with wife Sylvia.  He is a real cowboy with a ranch in good old Alberta. ;)

All this talk about country makes for a small smile along that line, for those of us who were raised in the sticks and know about the following:

The Outhouse

Once there was a boy, and he had a very old outhouse in his back yard. Just downhill from the outhouse was a little lake. So one day when he was bored, the boy decides to slide it right into the lake.

That night the boy's father tells him the story of George Washington chopping down the cherry tree. The boy is so impressed, he decides to confess. He tells his father, "I'm the one who slid the outhouse into the the lake."

You can imagine the boy's surprise when his father begins spanking him He asks his father, "I told the truth like President Washington, so why are you spanking me?'

His father said, "George Washington's father wasn't in the cherry tree, when he chopped it down."

                                                :) :) :)

So sorry about Beth and will continue to pray for her.  Etta Sue, I liked your recipe for Apple Crisp....or something apple.  Passed the test very nicely.  I have been trying out some of the recipes in that section.

Must go and get busy.  Have been battling a virus for a bit and not quite caught up on chores, etc.  Hope we don't have another quake tonight!  They keep saying the Big one is coming any time....but never get the weather right either. :-\

Pleasant Day and God Bless.

Liz

Thanks everyone for visiting the Recipe Section.  The Pizza Soup is very good.  It tastes just like.....uh, PIZZA!!

Ivalou and I have had an exciting afternoon.  We still have lots of water everywhere.  After I got home I was baking some bars for Ivalou and the Euchere Club tomorrow.  I looked out my kitchen window and there was a mini-van half way to the woods.  The woods is a half-mile from the road.  It looked side-foddled and stuck!  No one around it.  I called Ivalou and she said she didn't think it had been there long.  Then a car drove in my drive and the man walked from my drive to the stuck mini-van, looked at it and came back to the car,  got in the car and left.  Then Ivalou called and said a tractor with a bucket on it was back there.  Then the mini-van was started and trying to turn around.  In the meantime, a big wrecker turned in my drive and stopped at the end of it, blocking the driveway.  There are three low places in the lane.  The mini-van got turned around and driving back to my house, you could see the rooster tails flying when it went through the closest low spot!  The mini-van stopped in front of the wrecker and the men were talking when the tractor came toward the house.  But instead of him waiting, he drives in my yard and over the edge of my blacktop.  I yelled at him and told him to never ever drive in my yard again!!  Then the wrecker and the mini-van left.  A few minutes later, my front doorbell rang.  It was Richard...the guy in the mini-van.  Richard is from Jamaica and hard to understand.  He was apologizing for the ruts in my yard.  I accepted the apology but I told him that I didn't want people driving in my yard and that when it is this wet and soft out to never drive to the woods.  Then he told me that my brother and him are good friends and that Kaye Don told him he could go to the woods anytime.  I told him that Kaye Don was not going to be happy when he sees ruts in the lane...we just got it smooth so we can mow it!

Anyway, excitement.  It just seems that some people have no respect for other people's property!  I emailed Kaye Don about the afternoon but also gave Richard their phone numbers in Florida.

Sorry, I vented but I am still a little upset about it all!

The Colts lost their game today...so no Super Bowl for them!   :'(

I have just finished watching Ice skating and getting ready to go back to church for the prayer meeting at 5Pm. I have been crocheting on my Prayer Shawl this afternoon and have it half way finished.

We had a good service this morning, Pastor is preaching a series on the early church, today it was on devotion and fellowship. We had  1 salvation at the altar call.

Thanks for the Jimmie Rogers and G. B. Shea.  I REALLY enjoyed them both!  I could sit and worship our Lord all day with that kind of music/words playing!  Great stuff!  Great Stuff!

That Rogers piece just reminds me of easily sending pure joyous emotion toward the Throne.

Alma

Dear All,

I am so sorry I have not been in much as we have had our hands full, like so many of you here.

Janet, I am praying over you and daryl and beth, I know your heart is full for all you have been through lately. I pray for you my dear friend often.

Al, Etta Sue, marilym and all of you, God bless and keep you.

OK, here it is, you all remember my little sissy I have mentioned in the prayer section, well she showed up at our home last night asking to stay and asking for HELP!!
She is asleep i in my bed right now and has not looked too good, I have fed her what I could get her to eat but I know this is more than a food issue, Please,  ask in the HOLY NAME OF JESUS, if you will stand in agreement with me and pray as to what father wants me to do, as I was praying today, he did tell me, ONE DAY AT A TIME, and I thought that was a good one to start with, I have been on the phone to a few drug centers just trying to get info and off the computer too  about detoxing.

Well I better get of here and go check everyone in the house.

God be with us, Alma

Thank you, Liz and Alma for the prayers for Beth.  She called today to tell us she will be arriving home next Saturday.  Her feet are in terrible condition, hope she can make the trip all right.

Alma, praise God your sis knows who to turn to for help.  I will continue to pray for her and for you as you go through this trying time.

I heard a lot of country music while we were away, and it reminded me how much I like it.  Guess I need to dust off a few oldies myself.

Good evening all.

Janet I am sorry Beth is not doing well.  It is hard to have a child who is sick and harder when we are unable to help.  A kiss better doesn't work in these situations.  BUT PRAYER DOES! I am praying for God's best.

WE have had a full day.  John lost his medication and we hunted everywhere he was all to no avail.   HE got into the truck to start it, and Woopee it was on the dash of the truck.  This was so unlike him, Mr Organization.   So Pat the lost is found.

We have had a funny situation going on here, kassie lost something and her reaction was very comical.  It is good to laugh at funniness, God sure has a great sense of humour.

Pat that song you started the day off with is a favourite of John's.  He has loved it forever.

Melaura will have her sargents stripes this year in Air Cadets.  She is so excited that she will finaly out rank many former cadets as well as current cadets. Oh Yea she says.  Elizabeth will be getting her Petty Officer second grade (PO2) stripes in the next couple of weeks.  That will put her level with what Melaura did.  She wants to try out for PO1 this year as well.  We will see.

Well  It is late and I need to find a pair of shorts for Kassie.  She is on the basket ball team, and needs the clothes to stay at school.

Night all and God Bless

Janet

Thanks, Judy.  Glad to hear the girls are doing well and progressing up the ranks.

I have uploaded five photos in the album Janet's photos, if you want to take a look.  Thanks.

I thought I had better update you all,

First I want to Thank you for the quick response to our families cry for help.

Lisa is sleeping still in our bed,  she has slept most of the day, we have just tried to a comfort for her as she is very paronoid and not sure what to do, we told her just to  rest a while, she is very cold and I have my electric blanket on her. She brought her little dog too, he has stayed with her all day watching over her.

I read this could and is a very difficult situation, be I believe there is only ONE WAY, AND ONE TRUTH. so I  WILL NOT just give up.

I called one place and they wanted  $6800.00 for 30 days in house treatment. But the lady was very helpful and that was nice.

I will keep you informed. Thank you all again.

Janet, your still in my heart. And Thank you Marilyn you are too.
