JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Morning Devotional...

The Holy Spirit: Sending Something Better

However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.
--John 16:13

Our trouble is that we are trying to confirm the truth of Christianity by an appeal to external evidence. We are saying, "Well, look at this fellow. He can throw a baseball farther than anybody else and he is a Christian, therefore Christianity must be true." "Here is a great statesman who believes the Bible. Therefore, the Bible must be true."

We quote Daniel Webster, or Roger Bacon. We write books to show that some scientist believed in Christianity: therefore, Christianity must be true. We are all the way out on the wrong track, brother! That is not New Testament Christianity at all. That is a pitiful, whimpering, drooling appeal to the flesh. That never was the testimony of the New Testament, never the way God did things--never!

You might satisfy the intellects of men by external evidences, and Christ did, I say, point to external evidence when He was here on the earth. But He said, "I am sending you something better. I am taking Christian apologetics out of the realm of logic and putting it into the realm of life. I am proving My deity, and My proof will not be an appeal to a general or a prime minister. The proof lies in an invisible, unseen but powerful energy that visits the human soul when the gospel is preached--the Holy Ghost!"
Dr. Tozer in How to Be Filled With the Spirit, 29-30.

"Lord, open our ears that we might hear when the Holy Spirit speaks. Amen."

Fill Me Now
(Click to hear music)

Be filled with the Spirit.
Ephesians 5:18

Words: Elwood H. Stokes, 1879.
Music: John R. Sweney, 1879

Hover o'er me, Holy Spirit,
Bathe my trembling heart and brow;
Fill me with Thy hallowed presence,
Come, O come and fill me now.

Refrain
Fill me now, fill me now,
Jesus, come and fill me now;
Fill me with Thy hallowed presence,
Come, O come, and fill me now.

Thou canst fill me, gracious Spirit,
Though I cannot tell Thee how;
But I need Thee, greatly need Thee,
Come, O come and fill me now.

Refrain

I am weakness, full of weakness,
At Thy sacred feet I bow;
Blest, divine, eternal Spirit,
Fill with power and fill me now.

Refrain

Cleanse and comfort, bless and save me,
Bathe, O bathe my heart and brow;
Thou art comforting and saving,
Thou at sweetly filling now.

Refrain

Thanks Pat for sharing this today.
I am doing  some cleaning today-and need to call a friend to encourage and then I'm off for a good walk. Its warmer today and I like it that way!
Have a great day all.

Thank you Pat for  the devotional and for the song. I have saved the midi for future use in stationery or just to hear.

Nothing new here today. Will write more later, my computer is running slow this morning and I am on cable. Don't know why it is so slow today.

Cornelia had a pretty good night last night.  This morning Martha helped her take her first shower in a week.  She is sitting up and walked around the house with her walker.  In a little while the home health nurse will be by to check her out.  She will come three times a week for at least a couple weeks.  Again I want to thank you for all your prayers.  Yes, God is good.   <3

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  Just eating my lunch and trying to stay warm today as it has really cooled off from yesterday.

Pat and I are going to a 90th birthday celebration at our church for one of the ladies we know there.  Her daughter told me that her mother's sister was coming in to surprise her.  I am sure this will be a festive and enjoyable afternoon.

Nothing new here.  We did have a big group at coffee this morning and no one seemed anxious to leave.

Pat, I have never understood the term Christian apologetics.  Obviously it doesn't mean apologizing.  It just seems a strange word to use with Christianity.

Marilyn, glad to see you got your sleep clinic results.

Papa John, glad to read taht you were able to get Cornelia home and I am sure she is very happy to be there.  Any of us having been hospitalized know how much that first shower is appreciated.

Good to see Tbear and everyone posting.

Janet

Good day!  It's wonderful to hear Cornelia's news, and I know how good that shower felt!  And you are so blessed to have Martha there to help you, too.

They moved Beth into a private room last night, gave her a good shower and shampooed her hair.  That just makes one feel so much better!  They are to line up whatever help is available to come to her house after she is released.  I'm happy she will stay in the hospital and be cared for during this next week while I am attending my painting seminar.  Yes, God is good.......all the time.

Larry, I just had breakfast!  I had a really rough night last night, so when I finally got to sleep, Darrel let me sleep until Beth called this morning after 9!  It has probably been years since I stayed in bed that late.  (But I needed it.)

Are all of you looking forward to Super Bowl tomorrow?  I'm so glad they won't be televising the half-time show called "Half-time Hotties,"  which is a bunch of nearly naked women pretending to play football.  UGH. At least Darrel told me they won't be televising that, so I hope he's right.

And now.........I'm going into my studio to work for the rest of the day!!  YEA!!!

Larry ~ Is that a new profile photo I see?  You are looking great!

Papa John ~ I know you are happy to have Cornelia back home.  God is Good!

Karen ~ Great family pictures.  I know you are looking forward to Jason being back home for Easter.

I just want to let you all know how great it is to read that some of you are experiencing touches of spring......while I look outside and see nothing but white!!!!  Yep, it is snowing in Indiana!  Brrrr!

God's Work Ministry Inspirational and Encouragement E-Mail

Dear Friend,
We should never allow ourselves to go through life in ignorance not seeing
the snares and traps that the enemy tries to place in our life's path.  We
are to be as the Bible tells us to be sober and vigilant being careful with
what we do in our daily life.  There are many instances where people do not
see the traps of the enemy and in effect fall into the pit of his devices
not knowing how to be freed. (Psalm 142:3-7) (1 Peter 5:8-9) (Psalm 86:2-7)

The Lord Jesus Christ who died on the Cross to save mankind from their sins
paid the price once and for all and now all who trust in His finished work
have the privilege of being called a child of God.  We receive the benefits
of what the Lord Jesus endured and now have the power of His Blood and
Authority to use His Name to defeat the powers and principalities of the
enemy.  Be encouraged to study God's Word to learn who you are in Christ
and stand in who God has created you to be. (Romans 10:9-13) (Ephesians 6:10-18)

I hope this message ministers to your heart to invest in reading and
meditating on the Word of God to better equip yourself to defeat the enemy
and stand victorious through Jesus Christ.

Good day everyone.  We are under another winter storm watch here in the North Bay and Sudbury area.  From the emails I have received Pat is under a weather watch as well.  Difference being it is supposed to rain.  Pat you don't have to shovel rain!!  This is a very unusual winter.  We are usually struggling with the minus 40* and minus 50* weather, this year the thermometer has pretty consistently hovered around the 0 mark.  That is 32*F.  Very unusual.  Not as much snow as we generally get either.

Janet I am pleased that you actually slept in.  You need the extra rest, with the extra stress you have been under.

Papa John Good that Cornelia is home with you again.  Bless you both.

Larry I never have understood that term either.  Christian Apologetics.  Now that is a puzzler.  Pat what is the name of the man that  Kamyl knows?  HE is awesome to listen to.

Well we had a praise team meeting today and it sounds like there are some great changes in the wind.

Bye for now and God bless all of you.

Hello everyone, I want to share with you only one verse that is helping me through everyday and without that nothing will make sense to me, and that is:

"Phil. 4:4  Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice."

Well Brothers & Sisters, REJOICE and have a BLESSED day

God Bless you all.

Love  <3

I just stopped by after eating some lunch; took time to look at more photos in the gallery.

Now, back to that painting!  My background for the first one is shaping up!  :)

Thanks for the nice devotional & music.  It helps to make another rain soaked day better..... :ticked:  Even Misty refuses to go outside now!

Only stopping in for a minute.  Had a quick trip to Victoria with the kids this morning as they needed something in town.  I looked around for an hr. and was totally overwhelmed with all the sales going on at the Bay.  Not my cup of tea!!

Have to cook dinner tonight so must get busy.  Baked sausages, oven glazed turnip, potatoes, salad.  Baked Lemon Pudding for dessert.

Wendy is cooking a turkey upstairs as tomorrow is the big Super Bowl.  SIL's brother is coming for dinner and Wendy wants to be able to enjoy the game.  I plan to stay downstairs....cooking a Pumpkin Pie with Whipped Cream for them and making a salad.  Think that will earn me a nice plate of turkey as a reward!

So happy that all is well at Papa John's and will keep right on praying.

Pleasant Day/Evening all and God Bless.

Liz

Today's Verse

I will love thee, O LORD, my strength. The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.

We're under a storm watch here too.  But I ain't watchin, I'm going to bed.  Snow oughta be great for all those Super Bowl 40 fans here in Detroit.  Not going there either.

I think Cornelia got a bath, hospital style, everyday but not a shower nor a tub.

The home health nurse did come today and stayed a long time and filled out all kinds of papers.

Her condition is not good. We do not know yet how bad her congestive heart failure is going to be. She is quite depressed.

Papa John - I pray our Father will give both of you grace to stand in the midst of trial.  Oh may He somehow make Himself known in the midst of it all and make you know His love and His grace and mercy.

Whoever is interested in the word "apologetics:"  It comes from two Greek words, apo and logia, meaning "from reason."  The idea of it is to point to earthly evidences of the deity and power of our Lord.  Not that earthly evidences are even close to being the final proof.  The final proof is produced by the Holy Spirit, moving in the souls of people and bringing them captive to the faith of Jesus Christ.  But earthly evidences do exist, and, seen by a believing soul, are encouraging.

Nita

Papa John, did they tell you that depression is very common with heart attacks?  I guess you would know this.
