JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

He that winneth souls is wise.
Proverbs 11:30

There are many ways to reach the lost.

  • Personal witnessing to family, neighbours and friends!

  • Bringing the Word of God to people in hospitals, prisons, seniors residences and other specialized centres!

  • Teaching children in Sunday Schools, children's outreaches and at home!

  • Spreading the gospel at Ladies coffee hours, men's breakfasts, Christmas, Easter and Thanksgiving meals!

  • A word spoken by the bedside, fireside, roadside, seaside, or in busy streets and quiet country lanes!

Are you being wise today seeking to win souls?
--Jim Paul

His ear hath heard the question,
who to the lost will go?
Send me, he cries, his sin purged lips,
with altar fire aglow.
I'll bear the living message,
of free forgiving love,
O let me win the wanderers,
to the path that leads above.

Pastoral Ministry: Worthy to Lead
Paul, an apostle (not from men nor through man, but through Jesus
Christ and God the Father who raised Him from the dead)....
--Galatians 1:1
Conformity to the Word of God is always right, but obedience to
religious leaders is good only if those leaders prove themselves
worthy to lead. Leadership in the church of Christ is a spiritual
thing and should be so understood by everyone. It takes more than
a ballot to make a leader....
If the church is to prosper spiritually she must have spiritual
leadership, not leadership by majority vote. It is highly
significant that when the apostle Paul found it necessary to ask
for obedience among the young churches he never appealed to them
on the grounds that he had been duly elected to office. He
asserted his authority as an apostle appointed by the Head of
the church. He held his position by right of sheer spiritual
ascendancy, the only earthly right that should be honored among
the children of the new creation.  The Warfare of the Spirit,
162-164.

"Renew within me, even today, a sense of my divine call. Then
help me to live a holy life, exemplary in faithfulness, so that
I might indeed be a leader worthy to lead. Amen."

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  Just finished my lunch and wanted to visit CP before resting for awhile.

I spoke with my sister a little while ago and found out that her son, who had colon cancer diagnosed last June, had come through another CT scan with no indication that the cancer had returned.  We praise God for his mercy and protection.  My nephew is only 29 years old and will finish pharmacy school in June.

Jeanne, never click on a popup.  In fact I read that it is always best to bring up your task manager and close the window that way rather than clicking on the "x" in the little window as that could be a link to something.  That seems a little paranoid to me but probably is good advice.  If I recall correctly you use a MAC so you may not access the Task Manager by hitting control+alt+delete like the Windows users do.

Marilyn, glad you will be getting your CPAP machine and I predict you will be sleeping better and arise more rested after using it.  It certainly made a difference with my wife.  She quickly got used to the mask and I adjusted to the noise of the machine, which is sort of like white noise.

Pat, thanks for the devotional today.

Gord, I hope you get the job for which you applied.

JudyB, thanks for sharing the story of your friend who found Christ 6 months before her death and how she shared it with her folks.

Melody, the warmer weather is very nice.  I just went to the mailbox and it has really warmed up today, probably in the mid-sixties.

Carol, I wish we could have shared your chicken soup as well.  Thanks for the thought.

Karmat, glad to read that your kids are feeling better now.  They get sick quickly but also are able to recover quickly.

Janet, I missed you all also and it is good to be back.  As you know from your travels there is always a lot to catch up on when we get home.

Janet

A busy Saturday for our CP folks, huh?  I am having a "goof-off" day today, I guess.  Pat and I went to a couple of garage sales, then had coffee and visited, and I am just now back home.  I am trying to find a metal kitchen cart for Beth, low enough for her to see into a crockpot, etc.  Thus the garage sale trip.  No luck, though.

We are having a farewell dinner for a family in our church who are moving to Hutchinson, so I need to think about what food to FIX for that.  ;) :)

I have one more idea where to look for a cart for Beth, so will go do that before I go over to change her bandages.  See you later!

Hi, Larry!  You and I were posting at the same time, now I will read yours!

Ritz

Hey everyone, just dropping in to say good morning! Peace, Ritz.

Papa John

Yesterday we took Cornelia back to see the doctor.  Things went well.  It was a long day for Cornelia.  A neighbor from across the street came to help us get her in the car.  We have a wheel chair and brought her to the front door.  She walked with help to the car just a few feet away.  She was in the wheel chair from the parking lot to the doctor's office etc.  The doctor was pleased with her progress.  He did some changes in her medicine.  She was taken to have fluid removed from her lungs and they drew a lot of fluid.  It was after three when we got home.  She slept for several hours last night.  Right now she is in MY chair and I am sitting on the couch which is fine until I try to get up.  Martha is planning to return to work Monday.  She has been off for five weeks.  With nurses coming from the church we will make it all right next week.  We go back to the doctor again next Friday.  We are still taking it a day at a time.

Thanks for your love and your prayers.

Papa John

Papa John, that's great that the doctor is pleased with her progress.  Prayers continue.

Janet, have you considered a TV stand for Beth?  Many of them have wheels and they're a good bit lower than a regular kitchen cart.  Just a thought...

Larry, I didn't click on the "x".  There were three buttons to choose from - update, continue and cancel so I chose cancel.  My Norton, my Spybot, my Ad-Aware and my SpywareBlaster are all up to date and don't show any problem, so I think I'm safe.   :)

Nita

Heh, everyone.  Just checking in.

Papa John, I agree with Jeanne.  I'm so glad the doctor is pleased with her progress.  A doctor's pleasure with progress is good news.  Right?

Larry, such good news about your nephew. :)

Janet, did you find the cart for Beth?  Maybe Jeanne's idea is a good un.  I know my tv stand, with wheels, is really sturdy, and sits low.

Hi, Ritz.  Hi, Pat.  Hi, Chris. Hi, Marilyn.  Hi to everone else who posted recently that I didn't see.

I'm off to see if there are new photos posted.   Nita

JudyB

Thank you for the news on Cornelia.  YOu may need to use the wheel chair for a time, if it helps that is a good thing.

Pat how has your day gone.  Hope good.

Gord I am sorry about Noreen's back pain.  Let her know I am praying for her too.  About that job.   God never closes a door without opening a window.

The sun has been strong for the better part of the week.  On the roads we can see the snow pack melting.  The stream is not frozen even though it has snow over it.  Hard to explain but we hear the running water of the stream.  The temp remains in the range -10*C  to 1*c.  If thet holds there will be more evaporation than melting thus protecting the road we are on.

Gord if you go to MBC this year, plan on coming about one hour further north and see us before you head home.

Janet I bought a hospital meal tray from a garage sale for $2.00  Would that work for beth?  You could ask at a hospital what they do with the  ones they scrap when they bring in the new ones.

YOu know Larry when people retire they should slow down a bit.  I would have a hard time keeping up to your schedule.  I remember Dad saying that he was busier when he retired than when he worked.  I guess that describes you too!!!

Well I have to go and referee here.  So bye for now
Judy

Janet

I came up with a strange combination of dishes for tomorrow.  I made pickled beets and apple pandowdy.  :)

Glad to hear Cornelia's doctor visit is over and that she is making good progress.  Prayers continue.........

I must go get a little cleaning done, kitchen floor needs attention.

Etta Sue

I am back from the Ladie's Retreat.  It was awesome.  For this tiny church that my sister attends, there were 23 women at the retreat.  Last evening we ate at the motel dining room, then went to a suite.  Our guest speaker spoke and let us know that there are 5 ways of showing/giving love.  Most of the time, we play cards or such after the speaker but last night, we went to our rooms for bed.

The guest speaker asked where I attend church and HER son interned at my church last summer and is going to intern for a whole year starting after classes this year.  Small world!

This morning we met back in the suite bringing our breakfast items from home.  What a feast....everything from breakfast quiche to Orange Juice.  Better than a restaurant breakfast, for sure.  Then we learned how we, ourselves, show/give love.  Really interesting!  The retreat was at Nashville, Indiana....a tourist-y town geared to fine art and arts and crafts.  Lots of little shops and this is a great time of year to 'do' Nashville...not real busy.  I really don't think anyone spent much money.  I took a few photos but that is about all.  Then we got back on the church van and headed home.  Seven of us were in the van and it was really enjoyable.

That was my overnight stay!

Etta Sue tha sounds like an awesome retreat!  Time away from the usual is always a good thing.  Perhaps you could use some of the info you learned about in your next devotional here in NEM!

Well This has been a quiet day for me.  Melaura decided to do some baking and boy her cookies and cinamon rolls were good.  Kassie decided she wanted to show her hand at cooking so she made supper.  Not a lot for mom to do in the  kitchen today.

Monday night is small group and we are going to another members home for dinner and a Christian movie.  I am looking forward to that.

I must go.  Love JUdy

From today's left sidebar!  What a wonderful verse!  This was one of my dear Dad's favourites!

Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.

The Lighthouse
(Click to hear music)

Then Jesus spoke to them again,
saying, "I am the light of the world. He who follows
Me shall not walk in darkness,
but have the light of life."

John 8:12

Words and Music: ©Ronnie Hinson

There's a Lighthouse on the hillside,
that overlooks life's sea.
When I'm tossed it sends out a light,
light that I might see.
And the light that shines in darkness,
now will safely lead me home,
And if it wasn't for the lighthouse,
my ship would sail no more.

And I thank God for The Lighthouse,
I owe my life to Him.
Jesus is The Lighthouse
and from the rocks of sin,
He has shown the light around me,
so that I might clearly see.
And if it wasn't for The Lighthouse,
where would this ship be?

Everyone that lives around us,
says tear that old lighthouse down,
The big ships don't sail this way anymore,
ain't no use in it standing round.
But then my mind goes back to that stormy night,
when just in time I saw the light
With the light from that old lighthouse,
that stands there on the hill.

And I thank God for The Lighthouse,
I owe my life to Him.
Jesus is The Lighthouse
and from the rocks of sin,
He has shown the light around me,
so that I might clearly see.
And if it wasn't for The Lighthouse,
Where would this ship be?

Ruth

I had a couple of days reading to get caught up on.

Papa John:  I am glad that the Dr's visit went well.

Chris & Margit: Thanks for sharing your pictures.

One of the High School students that I take home told me about a movie that she watched in class.  It is called "SUPER SIZE ME" I rented it and for those of us that need to be health conscious it is worth the watch. It made me aware of my eating habits and yes I will be making changes.  The movie is using McDonald's as the attack but it also applies to all fast food chains.  The movie is available at our Block Busters but I would think it is available in the United States as well.

Pat it is interesting that you have that verse as the verse of the day.  I have chosen that one as my verse for the year.  I love the word "withersoever"  it is so all encompassing.

Ruth Melaura watched that movie.  She has sworn off Mc Donalds entirely.  She has become such a picky eater.  No breakfast and seldome lunch, and a picky dinner.  I have learned to whip potatoes instead of boilled.  They just have to include milk and butter.  Just great for my diet.

The doctor has me on some medication that dry the mouth.  This is the second med that has this side effect.  Has anyone any ideas how to conquer this problem?  It is embarrassing to sit in church coughing because of dryness.  Any ideas would be welcomes.

Pat do you remember Amy Passfield?  Her favourite hymn was Master the Tempest is Raging.  Do you have the words and music for that?  Also There were Ninety and Nine?  Just some suggestions.  I have had these go round in my head for a few weeks now.

In the family room MElaura is ripping material.   Oh my goodness, I hope she is not making mistakes.  She is wanting to make a quilt...... She is attempting something that I have never done. :-\  Perhaps she needs to talk to Ruth about this!?
Well I am closing off for now
Love to all Judy
