"Backsliders begin with dusty Bibles

~C. H. Spurgeon~

Morning Devotional...

And they kept that saying with themselves, questioning one with another what the rising from the dead should mean.
Mark 9:10

The disciples were aware of a future day of resurrection. What puzzled
Christ's followers was the exact connection of resurrection with their
Master.

They had difficulty fathoming the sufferings of Jesus that must
precede the glory of His resurrection. Yet rise in glory He did.

Thankfully, the power that raised Christ from the dead, also works on
behalf of the believers.

"And what is the exceeding greatness of His power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of His mighty power, Which He wrought in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead" (Eph. 1:19-20).
--Keith Keyser

Sin, death, and hell are vanquished
by Thee the Church's Head;
And lo we share Thy triumphs,
Thou Firstborn from the dead.

March 5
Pastoral Ministry: Faith Must Be Demonstrated
Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of
witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so
easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is
set before us.
--Hebrews 12:1
The lesson that comes to us through the many dramatic
illustrations of faith in Hebrews 11 brings us back to my earlier
statement: Faith in God is to be demonstrated, not defined. Just
as God's church demonstrates Christian love,  this demonstration
of godly, humble faith is God's ideal for His church.

It is not enough for preachers in their pulpits to try to define
love. The love that God has promised must be demonstrated in the
lives of the believers in the pews. It must be practiced as well
by the man who occupies the pulpit.

We should put the matter of faith in that same category. God
wants His people, including the ministers, to demonstrate all
of the outworking of faith in their daily lives and practices.
Jesus, Author of Our Faith, 8.

"Lord, the pattern set forth in Hebrews 11 seems so
unattainable! Strengthen me by Your Spirit to be able to
demonstrate this type of unshakable faith. Amen."

Hi everyone.

Late yesterday afternoon our phone rang and it was my cousin's wife from Michigan.  They had lived here for three years but moved to Michigan probably 4 years ago.  They had flown into town and asked us to make a day trip with them today through the North Georgia mountains.  So we will leave in a few minutes to spend the day with them.

It was rather strange in that earlier I had spoken to my sister in Iowa and am cousin in Denver about the possibility of us all getting together, perhaps in Michigan.  However, we have about come to the conclusion that we should return to Denver for a get together as we have only one elderly aunt living and we could all see her as well as a number of our cousins and relatives who likely would not come to Michigan.  Then the phone rang and it was my cousin and his wife from Michigan and we hadn't said anything to them yet.  They were all for the idea.  So we will be doing some planning today as we travel.

Janet, hope you were successful in finding something very sturdy to Beth.  We have some porch tables that are very strong but low.

Papa John, removing the fluid should make Cornelia feel better much more quickly.  At least that was my experience.

JudyB, it is so warm down here it is hard to visualize the snow and ice on the ground.  Glad it is melting.

Pat, thanks for the devotional today.

We are off to church, and will be all gone all day.  We are taking mom out, and after that Melaura has an activity to go to.  so I will be in late tonight.

Papa John if you manage to come in to CP you can know that this family is praying for you.

Janet and Gord I am praying for your situations as well.

Have a good day.

Because He Lives
(Click to hear music)

Words and music by William J. Gaither
copyright 1971

"He is not here: for he is risen, as he said.
Come, see the place where the Lord lay."
Matthew 28:6

God sent His son, they called Him, Jesus;
He came to love, heal and forgive;
He lived and died to buy my pardon,
An empty grave is there to prove my Savior lives!

Chorus
Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives, all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future,
And life is worth the living,
Just because He lives!

How sweet to hold a newborn baby,
And feel the pride and joy he gives;
But greater still the calm assurance:
This child can face uncertain days because He Lives!

Chorus
Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives, all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future,
And life is worth the living,
Just because He lives!

And then one day, I'll cross the river,
I'll fight life's final war with pain;
And then, as death gives way to vict'ry,
I'll see the lights of glory and I'll know He lives!

Chorus
Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives, all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future,
And life is worth the living,
Just because He lives!

Today's Verse

And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:
And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

Judy, I know this CP family is praying for my Cornelia and I apprediate it very much.

She had a restful night last night.  She just had two coughing spells and was soon back to sleep again.

A nurse from church is here and Martha is taking me to our late service today.  I am praying that soon Cornelia will be able to come to church.  I know she is looking forward to it.  She says she just missed the month of February and remembers very little of what has happened.

Have a good day everyone.

Good Morning; Thanks Pat and Chris for the devotionals this morning.

Last night about 8:15 Marbeth called me and told me they were without power, I have power, they are on a different grid than I am. Even the house behind me is on a different grid. Strange huh?

Wind blew real hard all night long, I brought in  the porch chair so it wouldn't blow away. I am surprise this morning that everything outside is still in place as hard as it blew. Raining a lot this morning though.

Our church is doing a 24 hours of prayer, it started at 6 last evening, my turn was as 6 am this morning. We are having a speaker this morning and another speaker tonight.  I have had a good breakfast and I am going out to Blue Lake this afternoon to see the kids. I am still fasting my noon meal and probably won't eat supper tonight either.

Our service this morning was really special.  A young lady from Taiwan is studying to teach instrumental music and has been staying with our pastor and his family while she does her practice teaching at our school.  She and the pastor's wife played a beautiful piano duet from Taiwan for the Offertory.  Such a lovely piece.  Her father is pastor of a Chinese church in Albany and she usually spends Sunday there.  We were truly blessed to have her with us today.

Then a 12 year old boy played Brahms' Rhapsody in G Minor for the Postlude.  It was so beautiful I had tears in my eyes and when he finished he received a standing ovation from the congregation - the first I've ever known in our church!  We were all awed by the fantastic talent God has given this young man.

What a great start to a new week!!!

 :coffee:
Yes, the devotional and coffee just are are fine combination.  It was a busy day at church yesterday, but always so blessed to be able to be with God's family--encouraging/being being encouraged, worshipping together, shaking hands, getting hugs...  :)

Well, it's Monday morning here.  It's kinda warm.  When the coffee is gone, I'll wake up Jazz (our dog) and take him and the camera to the river for the morning.  No, he won't get in YET.  Just run like crazy along side it  :D .

Take a peek at the galleries when you have a moment--or even better, add a pict or two!

Ritz

I have a pear tree in the back yard that has simalar flowers...is that a pear tree? Peace, Ritz.

Janet

Yesterday I found an old TV stand that is pretty sturdy, but needs a top shelf on it.  I think Darrel can fix that for Beth, if we don't find something else that will work.

We went to church this morning, and since I do the overhead transparencies for the praise and worship, I sit on the second row from the front.  Beth sits behind the last row, in her wheelchair.  In the middle of the sermon, I had a strong feeling that she needed me, so I went back there, and she said she had to go to the bathroom and couldn't wait any longer.  Big problem is....they are remodeling the restrooms in the main floor and we have to use the ones in the basement.  Wheelchairs and stairs do not mix!  So I got the keys from Darrel, who was in the office helping count the offering (he was an usher today), loaded her and the chair, and drove to the grocery store which I knew had a handicapped stall.  Needless to say, I missed the rest of the sermon.........So I went to the kitchen and helped get the food ready, as we had a going away dinner for a family who are moving.  Boy, I will be happy when the bathrooms are finished!!  :P

Jeanne, wish I could have heard that music!  What a blessing.  We had a young man playing piano and leading the singing this morning.  He usually plays the drums, but is multi-talented.  His brother used to lead, but moved to Garden, taking his son, our little drummer boy, along.  So it's good to have Eddie helping out now.

I need to do some research on vans.  We may buy a used van with a wheelchair/power chair lift for taking Beth places.  It would sure be a lot easier on me!  And there are two here in town for sale now.  See you later!

Pat:  Thanks for the Devotional

A lovely day here in Southern Ontario

Janet:  When my mom was living and had limited mobility we used a metal  T.V. tray that was on wheels it would bear very much weight but an idea look around for something with the correct height and size and add wheels. If wheels cannot be put on do not buy.

I have a touch of the cold so out the kitchen I will go for a cup of hot lemon.

Ruth Ann:  I am missing your daily posts.

Ruth.

In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.  Proverbs 3:6

Janet

I'm missing Ruth Ann, too.  I hope she is doing well.

Whew!  Seems people want as much for a used vehicle as they paid for it when they bought it!  So the search continues.........

We have an annual business meeting tonight at church.  Time to elect a new board member.

The Evangelist this morning was wonderful He preached on The Song of Solomon and how that the part of Solomon is really Jesus talking to us and the Shulamite woman is us.  It is a wonderful message to the church.

Tonight we are having another special speaker from our very own church Linda is such an anointed teacher and  the year before last she preached the Sunday night service all summer as she was over the youth program at that time.

Please keep Pastor Oliver from Lucerne valley in prayer he is back int he hospital with  kidney and bladder infections, he is in such excruciating pain that they have knocked him out with Morphine and sedations. I spoke to Peggy (his wife) last night. She needs prayer too as she is worn out and concerned not only for the Pastor but for Victor as well.

In the prison system here in California, they keep  the different ethnicity's separated because of the constant conflicts among them Victor keeps telling them he is not Mexican that he as Quechua Indian from Bolivia. So please continue in your prayers for Victor.

I didn't go to Blue Lake today, Gilbert said they were going to come by here to drop of  the Girl Scout cookies and my coffee that I ordered from him. Now he tells me they are going to wait for me to come out there. Oh well we will get it together.

Check out his website he has added some more pages and  products. HERE

I had better quit here it is getting too long for y-all to read.

Thanks for the devotional, Pat.

I have stopped in to read the posts and do not have much to say....Not feeling terribly cheerful.  My brother phoned last night to say that our other brother died at 6 P.M.   He was my oldest brother and there was fifteen years difference in age.   When I became a Christian, he became very mean and tried to destroy my relationship with the rest of the family.  Since he developed Cancer five years ago, we have exchanged Christmas cards...nothing else.  I have tried to always remember the nice things and that he was once my 'big brother'.  Guess that is about all one can do!  I try to give his portion of love to my other brother....

We keep having quite cold weather here on the island.  Will be very happy to see the arrival of a warm spring.  Not certain how much garden work Wendy will be able to do this year.  The MRI shows extensive damage to her lower back as well as the upper....She is going to see a Specialist for some sort of treatment in a couple of weeks...he is a pain specialist and hopefully will provide some relief.  There is no cure.

Time to go and think about cooking something for my dinner.  Did dinner for the kids last night and they ate all the stuff, so no leftovers this time.  Lots in the fridge, so no problem.

Pleasant evening/day and God Bless.

Liz
CHANGE NOT THY FAITH WITH CHANGING TIMES

JudyB

Good evening all.  WE have ahd a good day, took Mom out to dinner then to the mall to window shop.  She enjoys doing that.

Whe dogs were antsy to got out when we got home.  We didn't bother to feed the furnace before church and when we got home it was about 60*F not too cold despite the cold outside.   The sun is strong these days and we are seeing evaporation from the huge snow banks.  I pray the thaw continues like that.

John was home late last night, and we stayed up talking thus we are rather tired today.

Pastor Dennis was at another church today, he is helping out as there is no pastor there.  He is such a gracious man.

Well as this is the last season for 7th Heaven, I am off to watch it.

By for tonight

Liz, sorry to read about you losing your brother.  It is indeed sad when families are divided (I speak from some personal experience).

We had a great day today with my cousin and his family.  We went to the North Georgia mountains up to the town of Blue Ridge.  We ate at a very elegant place called the Victoria Restruarant, which we hardly expected to find there.  We had a lovely and leisurely meal.  We then drove back through the moutains to Dalonega and stopped in some of the shops.  Dalonega was the first place in the USA where gold was found.  Tomorrow my cousin and his family are going to the Altanta Acquarium and then coming out to our house for dinner and some bridge.

We stopped in the mountains at a place where you can access the Applichian Trail and we walked a few feet on it.  Never thought I would have the opportunity.

I am worn out tonight so am going to turn in early.

Pat

I had a telephone call from Al Moak this evening.  It was so nice to hear from him.  But he was phoning to tell me that he was again without power so could not post the New Every Morning this evening.

Well, I have done it for him and am going to post it early just so that i might get an early night.

So, please forgive if this seems early in you part of the world.

Please continue to post in tomorrow topic.  Maybe we'll have lots to read in the morning!
