Janet: Hello, Friends!  Let's get this going again!  I miss  hearing from all of you! 2025-01-23, 19:26:16

Don: Hey Judy, It's been a long time. Hope you are doing well. 2024-12-02, 22:41:41

JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Oldiesmann: So sorry for your loss Carol. Praying for you and your family :( 2022-05-01, 17:13:05

Morning Devotional...

Loneliness: The Cause And Cure

I am not alone. I stand with the Father (John 8:16, NLT).

Do you know who are the most lonely people in our society? According to a survey, college students rated number one. Divorced people are number two.

Statistics also show that there are many more people living in single-person units today than there were 20-30 years ago.

Loneliness is on the increase, and human efforts to solve it fall way short.

We must trace the problem back to where it began -- to Adam and Eve -- if we are to find a lasting solution to this chronic emptiness.

In the beginning, Adam and Eve had each other, so they were not socially lonely. They communed daily with God, their Creator, so they were not spiritually lonely.

Then they disobeyed God and sinned by eating the forbidden fruit. Socially, Adam and Eve still had each other. But spiritually, they lost the comforting presence of the Lord, and mankind has felt this spiritual emptiness ever since.

Today, many people are married or have close family members or fiends, so they are not socially lonely. But they are spiritually lonely because, as with Adam and Eve, sin has separated them from their Creator.

There is a famous quotation with varying wording and controversial origin, and it is often attributed to sixteenth-century philosopher Blaise Pascal, which may be questionable. But the quotation is nonetheless a truism: "There is a god-shaped vacuum in the heart of every man [and woman] that cannot be filled by any created thing but only by the Creator made known through Jesus Christ."

Only our Lord Jesus, the Son of God, crucified, resurrected, and ascended into heaven, can fill that vacuum and cure human loneliness.

A young Jewish boy named Isadore seemingly had the most monotonous, lonely job in the city of Toronto -- selling newspapers on the busy street corners. Even though he sold hundreds of papers a day, he never enjoyed a single conversation with his regular customers and was a very lonely person. That is, until he met Jesus. After his conversion, Isadore began to tuck a gospel tract into every one of his newspapers. Soon he was talking with one out of every ten customers about the Lord Jesus. His face was radiant. He no longer felt lonely. Instead, he found great joy in sharing his newfound faith with everyone he could.

If you ever feel lonely, tell someone about Jesus!

Yours for helping to fulfill the Great Commission
each year until our Lord returns,

Bill Bright

Good one Pat.

Janet the devotional is wonderful.  I really appreciate all of you people doing devotionals, it really helps our Pat out.

Went to small group tonight (Monday) we watched a movie called the robe.  It was a break between the study of Hebrews and begining a study on John.  The movie is a historical fiction, and was really good.  If you have the opportunity to see it, it would be worth your while.

Well Late and I am off for the night.

Love Judy

Pat, that's really cute.  A cat scan. lol

Janet, thanks for the encouraging word.  Telling someone about Jesus as a "remedy" for loneliness.  That is so good!

Then they can sing, too! ;)

I was lost, but now I'm found
I was guilty but you turned me around

Good morning all.

Yesterday afternoon I took Terry to the ER (Again!)  They still don't have a clue as to wat is wrong with his heart but are getting closer.  At this point, they think it might be something about the firing mechanism.  I told him his spark plug needed cleaning!  The ER dr. said it was possible he may need a pacemaker.  He is just 41.  They are trying to move his appointment with the cardiologist up to as soon as possible.

Larry, do you have a pacemaker?  Between my husband and my sister, my mind is not working like it should.

Hope everyone has a blessed day, and not too hectic.

Samantha :)

The sun is shining and it looks to be another wonderful day.  We are packing for a long drive.

Janet  Thanks for the devotion on lonliness.  Personally, I believe that a feeling of being lonely brings on many diseases and speeds up dementia and Alzheimer's Disease.

Kevin:  Your cherry blossom picture is perfect - that is what we hope to see when we get to Washington, D.C. just as the wonderful cherry blossoms bloom - courtesty of the country of Japan.  I just met a woman from Hiroshima only a few weeks ago - small world.

Al:  Sorry about your place getting so cold with electricity loss.  It is tough when there are so many trees.  Could you use a small generator - I am trying to think of things that would keep the temp up & only solar power comes to mind and that isn't such a good help in your area, especially this year.

Judy:  I know that I saw "The Robe" in the 60's.  Have not seen that around for such a long time, yes, it was a really memorable film.

I will go over to SeniorNet now and check out the latest sad news.

Papa John

I have nothing new to report about Cornelia. She suddenly gained three pounds. Maybe it is from eating better or more fluid accumulating. I hope it is from eating.

We have a young nurse today. She works at Vanderbilt in critical care in pediactrics. But she can help an elderly Cornelia too. Our volunteer nurse care will end on Sunday. Hopefully we will be able to take over from there.

This has been a life changing event for us and I think we can handle it all right. I am still hoping that Cornelia will get stronger and be able to walk again without the walker and oxygen. But we will accept whatever. Her sister sent her a beautiful gown and robe. And yesterday Beth sent her two beautiful gowns. Very appropriate because Cornelia is beautiful.

Dear Papa John.  It is so wonderful to hear you talking about Cornelia the way you do.  It is so sweet      to see our seniors walking hand in hand and I can see you doing that too.

John has left and the girls are at school, I have a spinning head and upset tummy so I think I will lay down for a little while.  Not able to do much while my head is like this.

PAt thank you for the books.  I always enjoy going through them.

Bye All

Oh, Papa John.  My heart smiles and my eyes tear when I read your words of love for Cornelia.

I am all packed and ready to head south.  Just a few details to do and I am out the door....tomorrow morning.  I want all of you to take care and remember God loves each and everyone of you...us!

Pray for travel safety and NO sunburn for Ivalou and I!

AwakenedHeart

Thank you Janet for sharing the Word with us today!
I need this reminder on a daily basis.
I have been feeling alone in some of the struggles I am walking through. I can share them with others. But TRULY no human being can crawl inside of my being and experience what I am experiencing.
THIS is the place I NEED comfort. This place that is untouchable by man. The deepest, most intimate places in my being.
ONLY God can reach into these places.
THANK GOD !!

O LORD, you have examined my heart and know everything about me.

You know when I sit down or stand up. You know my every thought when far away.

You chart the path ahead of me and tell me where to stop and rest.

Every moment you know where I am.

You know what I am going to say even before I say it, LORD.

You both precede and follow me.
You place your hand of blessing on my head.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too great for me to know!

I can never escape from your spirit! I can never get away from your presence!

If I go up to heaven, you are there; if I go down to the place of the dead, you are there.

If I ride the wings of the morning,
if I dwell by the farthest oceans,
even there your hand will guide me,
and your strength will support me.

I could ask the darkness to hide me and the light around me to become night – but even in darkness I cannot hide from you.
To you the night shines as bright as day. Darkness and light are both alike to you.

You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother's womb.

Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous – and how well I know it.

You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion,
as I was woven together in the dark of the womb.

You saw me before I was born.
Every day of my life was recorded in your book.
Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.

How precious are your thoughts about me, O God! They are innumerable! I can't even count them;
they outnumber the grains of sand! And when I wake up in the morning, you are still with me!

O God, if only you would destroy the wicked! Get out of my life, you murderers! They blaspheme you; your enemies take your name in vain. O LORD, shouldn't I hate those who hate you? Shouldn't I despise those who resist you?
Yes, I hate them with complete hatred, for your enemies are my enemies.

Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my thoughts.Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life.

BLESS THE LORD O MY SOUL!
BLESS HIS HOLY NAME !!

MUCH LOVE TO YOU ALL TODAY!
WE HAVE A FRIEND IN JESUS !

How lovely to come in here and read all of the posts.

Papa John, what a lovely post from you and the robe and gowns sound so lovely as well.  I so look forward to your posts, Papa John and to learn just how Cornelia is doing.  Please know that I'm continuing to pray for her.

I'm not going to post individual posts today.  I have some company coming to talk about Avon and I just wanted to make sure I got in here.

I've been enjoying clicking on the photos above and seeing the other ones in the members' adbums.  Please click!

I know we had this hymn just the other day but for some reason, I can't stop humming it after reading AwakenedHeart's post above...

Cleanse Me
(Click to hear music)

Search me, O God, and know my heart today;
Try me, O Savior, know my thoughts I pray.
See if there be some wicked way in me;
Cleanse me from ev'ry sin and set me free.

I praise Thee, Lord, for cleansing me from sin;
Fulfill Thy Word and make me pure within.
Fill me with fire where once I burned with shame;
Grant my desire to magnify Thy name.

Lord, take my life and make it wholly Thine;
Fill my poor heart with Thy great love divine.
Take all my will, my passion, self and pride;
I now surrender, Lord--in me abide.

O Holy Ghost, revival comes from Thee;
Send a revival--start the work in me.
Thy Word declares Thou wilt supply our need;
For blessings now, O Lord, I humbly plead.

I am home from work already today. I am so thankful for my Tuesdays when the rest of the afternoons are mine to do as I please or just relax. The sun is shining so pretty today but it is so cold outside.

Have any of you checked out Gilbert's Natural and Organic website.?  He has some real interesting stuff on there. The Organic Coffee is from a local distributor and coffee house, Sacred Grounds is the name of it, Gilbert is only charging $1. more than what it costs if you go there to buy it.  The Seeds for organic gardening  are quite a large variety of flowers, herbs etc. No vegetable seeds yet. There are medicinal herbs etc.

Ok Just wanted to know if any one has checked it out.
Here it is if you want to take a look.

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.

Another busy day today.  We went to the Explorer's (senior adult monthly luncheon) and enjoyed a good meal and wonderful fellowship.  This was a seafood restruarant but I had a chicken salad.

When I got home I rested for about 90 minutes while Pat went to Wal-Mart.  Since then I have been working on webpage updates for my church website.  I am adding a Missions area plus had several other changes.  People are becoming more involved with the site and providing more current information.  I scanned a large number of photos that I was provided and in the next couple of days have to get them worked up and on the website.

Etta Sue, drive carefully on your trip to Florida.  I am sure you will make good use of your GPS although suppose you will make make of the trip on the Internet.  Hope the weather is fabulous while you are down there.  Hope you will be able to check in periodically while you are there.

Papa John, a sudden weight gain is something to keep a close watch on, as I am sure your doctor has advised.  I join with you in hoping that the gain is due to better eating and gaining strength.

Carol, I hope you will have a wonderful trip.  It sounds like you are going back East for awhile.  I may have missed seeing where you said you were going.

Marilyn, you will probably quickly gro accustom to the CPAP machine.  The mask you have sounds a lot different than the one Pat has.

Samantha, yes I do have a pacemaker/defibulator.  However, mine is not for a current electrical problem within the heart but rather to prevent sudden death from cardiac arrest, which becomes a much higher risk as the heart continues to weaken do to extensive heart disease.  Mine is being used to pace the heart to make it work more efficiently.  So far, the defibulator has not been needed and I hope it stays that way for a long time.

Nita, a "wink" on MSN Messenger send the person you are contacting cute and sometimes funny little animated graphics to get their attention.  There is one of a lady laughing that always brings a smile to my face plus a large number of other winks.

Janet, that was really a wonderful devotional today.  Bill Bright was such a fine writer and Christian person.

Kevin, once again thanks for becoming a moderator to help with the photos.

Nita

Thanks for the wink info, Larry.  I looked at them.  I don't have very many, but they're cute.  If anyone wants to add me to their msn contacts, I am just Nita.  (nitahrnr@hotmail.com)  Marilyn, I have you there already. :)

Kevin!  Heh, it's great your taking over the photo area.  Let me guess.....I think one of the first things you'll do is set up a challenge. lol  There hasn't been much activity there in awhile.   I'm glad you're there now.  Thank you.

We had sunshine.  And we had rain.  We HAVE rain.

Gotta go look at the gallery.  Bye for now.  Nita

Hi Everyone...

So nice to see all your comments.

Kevin and I will be discussing several things in the coming days.  So please be patient.  Some of the things that we're going to try to do is get our Photography forums more active.

Kevin is part of the team and Karmat will still be helping I'm sure in the photography part of things as well as time permits.

It's nice when we can spread the little duties around so that one person doesn't have a whole lot of things to do.  This all helps to make the burden lighter.

Way to go, Kevin.  You'll be a real asset to the site.

Papa John, you sound optimistic about Cornelia's progress and that's good news.  I'm continuing to pray for her recovery and strength and peace for all of you.

I had planned to go this afternoon to check on my daughter's 100+ year old farm to see whether the storm had done any damage.  The house and barn sit separately in open spaces where the wind could really sweep through.  But then I remembered today was Tuesday and our small group meeting at 2:30.  We're studying the book "Do we Still Need the Ten Commandments" by John Timmerman.  Two chapters to go.

Tomorrow is Lenten Luncheon at the First United Methodist church and I'm hoping to get to that.  Our turn comes in two weeks.
