Don: Hey Judy, It's been a long time. Hope you are doing well. 2024-12-02, 22:41:41

JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
Psalm 23:1

Two visitors to a large congregation were asked to recite Psalm 23 in turn.

The first was a famous orator. When he finished there was great applause and a standing ovation.

The second was a godly, senior saint who had given his life in the service of the Lord. When he finished there was no applause and no standing ovation, because everyone was busy drying tears from their eyes.

The orator stood up and said, "May I explain the reason for the different reactions?

I know the Psalm, but this man knows the Shepherd." Happy the saint who can say, "The Lord is my Shepherd."

Surely this is what Paul meant when he said "that I might know Him."
--Milton Haack

I Have a Shepherd
(Click to hear music)

"Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant..."
Hebrews 13:20

Author:  Leonard Weaver, 19th Century
Musician:  M. E. Upham, 19th Century

I have a Shepherd, One I love so well;
How He has blessed me tongue can never tell;
On the cross He suffered, shed His blood and died,
That I might ever in His love confide.

Refrain:
Following Jesus, ever day by day,
Nothing can harm me when He leads the way;
Darkness or sunshine, whate'er befall,
Jesus, the Shepherd, is my All in All.

Pastures abundant doth His hand provide,
Still waters flowing ever at my side,
Goodness and mercy follow on my track,
With such a Shepherd nothing can I lack.

When I would wander from the path astray,
Then He will draw me back into the way;
In the darkest valley I need fear no ill,
For He, my Shepherd, will be with me still.

When labor's ended and the journey done,
Then He will lead me safely to my home;
There I shall dwell in rapture sure and sweet,
With all the loved ones gathered round His feet

Sue

A long day today but very enjoyable.  I had to work this morning, then picked up my daughter to take her to her birthday lunch and then to work.  I had an appointment late afternoon and then went bowling with the church.  I had fun even though I did not bowl well.

My computer had crashed and needed to be reformatted and reloaded a few months ago, and one of the items that "disappeared" was the program that I had been using for photo resizing.  I managed to find a free one on the net and have been able to resize and upload some photos to my gallery.....finally!

Now time to go to bed!

JudyB

Night Sue.

Etta Sue thank you for the suggestion for dry mouth. Your suggestions work.

I am off to bed as well.

Night all

Hi to all the great prayers warriors on C.P.  It is very early on March the 8th. but I guess I am a night hawk.

I again please ask for continued prayer for Noreen my wife as the pain continues and we seem not to be able to find an answer, but our wonderful family doctor is trying to do everything he can to help and he is a wonderful Christian man.

My job situation is still ongoing but God will supply in his time and I do have an other interview on the 13th. of March.

Pappa. John. I am still praying for your wife and I know that he will give you both the strength to get through God Bless.

Pat,

Thanks for the good word.  I really want to know my Shepherd more. :)

In His Grip,
kevin

Here are a couple of stanzas from a song that is special to me.

My Refuge
I take my refuge in the palm of Your hand
I take my comfort in Your perfect plan
I take my sorrow and lay it down at Your feet
I take my refuge where I can be free

In You, Oh Lord
In You, my God
When there's no where to turn
And there's nothing that's true
I find my peace here in You

Hi everyone.

It is a beautiful day here in Atlanta and suppose to get up into the 70s.  No luncheon today and as the papers I have been waiting for to do my taxes came yesterday I am going to try to get my taxes filed today.  I am going to file electronically.  I did that last year and it worked beautifully.

Nothing new here today other than to go to choir practice this evening.  I still have a lot of webwork to be completed if I have time today.

Thanks for the fine devotional Pat.

Al Moak

Well G'mornin' all y'all.  We're supposed to have rain by tonight (I think it'll be sooner).  I'd like a little of your weather, Larry.  But, thanks be to God, no wind today.  I really don't want any more of those windstorms that blow down trees upon power wires and that result in no electric power.  Marbeth uses one of those C-Pap machines, and it doesn't work without power.  Then she has to sleep sitting up!  Not good.  But, as Pat has pointed out, the Lord is our shepherd - we shall not lack.

Carol

Pat:  What an inspiring message in today's devotion.  To "know" the Shepherd.  How very true!

I am sipping coffee -  :coffee:  Now there is a study that it can be good for a person - well, my Scandinavian relatives live long lives & have had regular coffee since toddlers.  Hmmm

Marilyn:  I put your son's site under favorites - the organic cotton looks interesting.

Larry:  Don has planned something this entire year with lots of trips.  This one is a doozey.  We drive to Ft. Worth to visit with a niece, then north Dallas to our old neighborhood & see friends - on to Florida panhandle to have lunch with gal he worked with at two companies.  To Sebastian (east Florida) for one week at our now repaired time-share.  Up to Myrtle Beach & Hilton Head & meeting a friend in North Carolina who lives in the country with her daughter now - I forget the order of all of this - then the outskirts of Washington, D.C. just in time for Cherry Blossom.  Whew!
Then, we have to remember to come back home!  It is snowing & almost a rain today but tomorrow looks good to go as planned.

Kevin:  Wonderful news that you are going to be so involved with CP.

Carol

Marilyn

I managed to get 4 hours in on my CPAP machine last night and improvement  over the night before at only 1 hour.

Thanks Pat for the devotion this morning. Oh that I might KNOW the Shepard more intimately.

Yes AL the sky is looking rather dim right now, The storm is coming in and I don't want to be out in it. We are having a speaker by the name of Denny Velaro tonight and on Sunday Morning. So I I will be out in the rain after all as I don't want to miss church.

Going to Fay;s this morning and I am taking her a piece of the Walnut pie I made yesterday and a few slices of that ham my neighbor shared with me.. I hope she appreciates what I take. I keep on trying to share with her but sometimes I really get offended when she  says she doesn't want it because it "might have dog hair in" what I have prepared at home and not at her house.

Good morning all.  Just breezing through between classes.

Travis's definition for today.

Barn = horse garage.

Okay, I thought it was funny.  I'm still chuckling about it.

Have a great one ya'll!

Karma~"horse garage"  I like that!   ;D      ;D
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Nita

Marilyn. LOL!  Some people are just so picky about dog hair.   We dog lovers don't notice it much, but she probably found one at one time and doesn't want to take a chance.

I know it shouldn't be funny......lots of people don't like dog hair.......but to me it is.  You gotta admit, she has a right not to want dog hair in her food.  Just love her anyway..:)

Janet

Hello, friends.  We had a really long day yesterday; left before 7AM and got home about 11PM.  We had too many things to do in Amarillo; and I didn't get to do all I wanted.

We are still looking for a way to transport Beth around.  Options are not many, and most are expensive.  I took her to the doctor today, and she is so stiff, it just about did me in.  ???  I really am concerned about her future, as her condition continues to deteriorate.  :'(

Carol, we will miss you!  But have a wonderful time.  I wish we had the company sold and Beth in a safe place, so we could go traveling like that.  And here are the pickled beets you wanted......

Papa John, it is so sweet to see how much in love you and Cornelia are after all these years.  God bless you both, you are still in my prayers.

Larry, how are you doing?  Always good to read your posts.

We looked at cameras yesterday.  They are not nearly as expensive as they were a few years ago, but still pricey.  I called HP again, got technical support, and they finally offered me a $118 discount if I will buy another HP.  I don't know about that, though.  :( >:( :'( WAH!!!  I miss my camera!!!

I need to be at a prayer meeting at church in half an hour.  This day has been really mixed up and messed up.  But prayer should make me feel a whole lot better.

See you all tomorrow..........and thank you all for the nice comments on Dr. Bright's devotional I posted yesterday.  We moderators really appreciate the feedback on our efforts.  God bless!  :)

Janet, that was a long day.  I doubt if I could cope with one like that any more.  But I guess if it was necessary the Lord would provide.  I don't always mention it, but my prayers for Beth and all of you do continue, as well as for Papa John and Cornelia.

I finally got out to check on my daughter's farm this afternoon.  It was a perfect day for the 25 mile drive but I forgot it's always a bit colder there.  Our ground is almost bare and I never thought of boots - loafers just wouldn't do in the snow that was left out there.  :idiot:   So I checked what I could from the road, took a couple of pictures of what appeared to be a few missing boards from the old barn, but the house looked untouched.  I'll try again in a week or so and this time I'll take boots so I can do a better job.

Let the Lower Lights Be Burning
(Click to hear music)

"Keep your lamps burning."
Luke 12:35

Words & Music: Philip P. Bliss, 1871

Philip P. Bliss, The Charm: A Collection of Sunday School Music (Chicago, Illinois: Root & Cady, 1871)

On a dark, stormy, night, when the waves rolled like mountains, and not a star was to be seen, a boat, rocking and plunging, neared the Cleveland harbor. "Are you sure this is Cleveland?" asked the captain, seeing only one light from the lighthouse.
"Quite sure, sir," replied the pilot.
"Where are the lower lights?"
"Gone out, sir."
"Can you make the harbor?"
"We must, or perish, sir!"
And with a strong hand and a brave heart, the old pilot turned the wheel. But alas, in the darkness he missed the channel, and with a crash upon the rocks the boat was shivered, and many a life lost in a watery grave. Brethren, the Master will take care of the great lighthouse: let us keep the lower lights burning!
D. L. Moody.

Brightly beams our Father's mercy from His lighthouse evermore,
But to us He gives the keeping of the lights along the shore.
Let the lower lights be burning! Send a gleam across the wave!
For to us He gives the keeping of the lights along the shore.

Dark the night of sin has settled, loud the angry billows roar;
Eager eyes are watching, longing, for the lights, along the shore.
Let the lower lights be burning! Send a gleam across the wave!
Eager eyes are watching, longing, for the lights, along the shore.

Trim your feeble lamp, my brother, some poor sailor tempest tossed,
Trying now to make the harbor, in the darkness may be lost.
Let the lower lights be burning! Send a gleam across the wave!
Trying now to make the harbor, some poor sailor may be lost.

Well, I played "hooky" today from all the sites I look after.  Our brother phoned and said he and Grace were going to St. Jacobs for the day so would I like to meet them for lunch.  Well, since I haven't been out the door much for the past couple of weeks with all the silly flu et al, I decided to get Geordie in the car and head off to St. Jacobs and we had an enjoyable day.

I have a toothache as well and phoned to get in on an emergency situation and my appointment is Monday in London!  So until then, it's pain meds!

Are you enjoying the little thumbnail photos above?  Are you clicking on them to see them large?  We sure hope so.

Pat: Thanks for the devotional today
Janet: I also enjoyed yesterdays today.

We had a Birthday dinner last evening.

Nita:  I have added you to my MSN contact list.

I was cutting time close this afternoon before going to work I had to go to the bank which was a 10 minute drive one way then the lineup if there was one and all had to be done in half an hour, I got it done no speeding tickets - no bank line up and I made it to work on time.

I trust you enjoyed your day   :D  and the tooth ouch :'(

I must be off to check some more stuff.

Hi, friends,

It's good to ready about everyone. Nashville is really starting to bloom with the beautiful tree blossoms and the landscape beginning to get the slightest touch of green in it.

It's also good to see the posters who have come since I had my computer problems, and then got sick.

Y'all have a good evening.

Janet, the Kodak EZShares are good little cameras, and are relatively inexpensive, I think.  If you want a new one without having to spend a lot, that might be an option for you.   Just a thought.  Also, I am continuing to pray for you and Beth.

Papa John, I hope Cornelia is gaining strength!  We love you guys

I hope everyone is having a tremendously good evening.  I'm getting ready to take some pictures, solaters, dudes.

Marilyn

Janet  my camera is a Kodak Easy Share DX4330. and Yes it is a good little camera. and not all that expensive.

Thanks for the devotional, Pat.  I am playing the music and Misty is lying on the bed....her ears twitched!  Does that mean she likes it?  Every once in awhile, she looks up with that 'Cat's Rule'  expression.....

Terrible weather and I have been inside with another virus.  So nothing much to talk about except the postings are nice to read.  I have been doing research on the net about a medication now started...interesting how conflicting every report is...more confused than ever :-\
