JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

A Covenant of Love

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son."
(John 3:16)

For God so loved the world that He gave...and He gave...and He gave.

That is the message the Bible brings us from beginning to end. It sounds simple enough. Yet few of us really comprehend it.

We can understand the idea of a God of power. We can understand a God who desires to be served. But an Almighty God who loves us so much that He desires, above all, to give to us? That can be hard to believe.

For thousands of years, God has been working to drop the revelation of His love into the hearts of men. He's made loving promises of blessing and protection. But He's always faced that same obstacle--human beings who just couldn't bring themselves to believe those promises were true.

The story of Abram is a perfect example. He wasn't accustomed to the idea of a God who gives. After all, he'd grown up as a worshiper of the moon, and the moon had certainly never seemed interested in doing anything for him. Then he encountered El Shaddai, the greatest Being of all. The one Almighty God. And the first thing this El Shaddai wanted to do was give to him.

God's promises so astounded Abram that he couldn't believe them. "Lord," he asked, "how can I know I'm really going to receive these things?" (Gen. 15:8).

Do you know how God answered him? By cutting a blood covenant with him. That covenant settled forever any question Abram could ever have about God's love and loyalty. Once blood had been shed, he knew God meant what He said.

God did the same thing for you. He cut a blood covenant with you. And He sacrificed His own Son to do it. Jesus' broken body and shed blood have become the eternal proof of God's love for you. Through Communion, He's urged you to remember them again and again so that when your faith in His promises begins to waver, you "might have a strong consolation" (Heb. 6:18).

Get a revelation of God's love for you by meditating on the covenant He's made with you. Get out the bread and the cup. Go before the Lord with them and take Communion thinking about the body and blood of Jesus that enables you to be a blood-covenant member of the family of Almighty God. Let them settle forever the question of God's love for you. You'll never again have to doubt His promises once you believe in His love.

Good day to all. We have had a very busy weekend and it has been so good to have had our family here at our new home. the Lord has sure blessed us with so much.  Thank you  Jesus.

Hi Al thank you for yesterdays devotional a good reminder.

Hi  Kevin How is your work going  stay in his grip.

Marilyn.   I can also remember having migranes when I was in my teens and younger it was terrible hope that you feel better.

Jeanne.  I think this is a fantastic idea to use. Re:  COW.

Ruthie.  Hope you are feeling better we will pray for you.

Pat Hope that you are o.k. and all is well.  Have not heard from you send me an email if you get time.  Gord.

The Lord has also answered prayer and I have got a chance for a job but I ask that you all pray with me as I am not sure if this is what the Lord would want me to do it means I would be away at least two nights a week and my wife does not want this so I have till next week.   Thank you  God is all powerful.

Marilyn

Thanks Larry and Gord for the comments on my  migraine. Yes it is finally gone  sometime this afternoon it left Praise the Lord. I seem to get them every Sunday morning. I usually go to the church a hour early to help make the coffee and to pray. The worship team is in the Sanctuary practicing at that time also and they have the music turned up so loud that it gives me a headache. so I am going to stop going early and if I do I will not enter the Sanctuary unless I have to while they are practicing.

The rain started again today and  man oh man was it heavy and the wind was something else. Speaking of wind, Janet how are things in your neck of the woods. I see where Missouri got a lot of damage and loss of life.

I expect to sleep very well tonight. I made a cover for the tubing that goes from the humidifier on my  CPAP machine to my nose piece,  as I was having trouble with condensation int he tubing, I also set is down lower than on the table where I had it. I hope this helps stop the condensation as it was making my nose cold.

Janet: Wonderful devotional this morning.

Marilyn: It is comforting to know that your migraine has gone.

Al: I would never be able to do the things you are doing with your computer.  It would be a joy if you would come and visit our home and bring all your knowledge.

Chris & Margit: I have just added your website to my favorites I will be visiting the site when I need comfort.

We woke up this morning to wind and a small skift of snow, winter is not over yet.  The big job for today is getting the laundry finished and some of the smaller needs after that. Our son had brought a box of alterations to be done so really I can see myself starting on that and as usual when the job is done it will give me a feeling of joy.

Have a great day.

Thank you Janet for the good Word.  Winter has come back to Japan.  It should be gone for good by this weekend, they say.

By the way, Ritz has posted a picture of a nice bike & rider, where there is no snow.

Hello, friends.  Another busy day...is there any other kind?  :-\

I drove down to Hugoton to hear a lady speak at a little luncheon at Bethel Friends Church.  18 months ago, she lost her husband and both children in a tragic car accident.  Now God has given her a ministry of speaking to groups and bringing encouragment from God's Word.  It is very humbling to hear one who has lost so much, and all she desires to do is to praise and worship God, and give Him glory.  Her husband was pastor of a Baptist church in Oklahoma, and the daughter was 13 and already working with children; the son was a sixth grader.

The man whose pickup hit them was Diane's Garden Wise salesman, and had just left their business, his last stop, and was on his way home to Wichita.  He had terrible injuries, and is still suffering, and must use a power chair to get around.  It wasn't his fault; they both hit an unexpected icy patch at the bottom of a valley.  The lady said she calls him and his wife to ask about his condition often.  She said "He's a great guy."  (She told Diane and me this after the lunch.)

I failed to mention that this wife and mother was also in the car, but was spared, with only a broken rib and bruises, etc.  What an inspiring story she has.  It puts my problems into perspective, for sure.

Chris, I'm off to see your new pages!

Chris and Margit, you two are certainly a blessing to the rest of us.   <3

Chilly and windy again today and every time there are big gusts I can hear something banging on my roof.  Looks like more shingles will be missing after this.  But...  I saw my first robin of the season this morning, sitting on the big rock in my back yard.  He even stayed long enough for me to get a picture!

Just returned from a pleasant time in sunny Florida.   The weather was mostly in the mid 70's to the mid 80's.

We attended a wedding otherwise it was doubtful if we'd go to Florida this winter.  The wedding was special as the father of the bride was also the minister performing the ceremony.

We attended a Detroit Tiger spring training game and they won.

We visited old friends as well as some relatives.....even so it is nice to be home and going to our church this Sunday.

Hi Gord, where are you from? I am from Perthshire myself.

Hi everyone.

Janet, I agree with the comments about the devotional you posted today.  It is a very good one.  The lady you heard speak must be very special.

Chris and Margit, thanks for sharing you new website with us.

Today was another busy day.  This was our monthly senior's luncheon at the local Senior Center.  We had the best turnout (33 folks) that I think we may ever have had.  The kindergarten kids from the elementary school across the street came over and sang for us to begin the program.  We then had a great meal and played Bingo.  I was one of the 5 winners.  In May our group is planning on visiting the Atlanta Acquarium as a group and will be going downtown on a bus.  We are also getting a reduced rate for groups.

After a period of rest when I got home I continued to work on installing the software I wanted on my desktop.  I am just about through but tomorrow have to work on my wife's computer.  She has run out of space so need to remove some files and programs from it.  It is running very slowly.

It has been cooler today and is suppose to get to 34 degrees tonight.  We did have some heavy rain last night, which I sure we needed.

Marilyn, glad your headache has gone.  Hope you get your CPAP problems figured out shortly so you can get a good night's sleep.  Wouldn't it be nice if your musicians at your church turned the volume down so you could enjoy the music.  Our contempory choir sometimes have their music very load but sometimes it is at a very nice and enjoyable level, which I prefer.  I don't want my ears to be assaulted.

Pat, enjoy your granddaughter's visit.

karmat

Marilyn, If you notice that much of a pattern with your headaches (always after going early to church), it could be the music volume, or it could be an airborne allergy.  I know a lot of times if I shop for a really long time, the formaldehyde used in new clothes will give me one.  There could be a cleaner or somthingi int hte church that is triggering them.

Marilyn

I think it is the volume of the music because before the new worship leader came  the music was not that loud and I didn't get any headaches either.

Chris I enjoyed your new website and all the scriptures and photos.

Ritz   left you a comment too.

Jeanne I saw your Robin also left you a comment.

I am doing  Laundry for Joanne and the Pastor.

My Tai Chi instructor came over for a visit and tea this afternoon and brought me a bunch of purple clothing and some shoes that I will need to give to someone else I don't have big feet I wear a 71/2 and these are 9's and 10's.

Be back later.

Papa John

Well,  I haven't been in for a few days.  Sorry about that.  I am glad to report that Cornelia continues to get better.  Today we got another lift chair and we have mine and hers side by side in the den.  She has a long way to go but she has made a lot of improvement.

I want to thank you all for your many prayers.

That's wonderful news, Papa John!  I'm so glad Cornelia is improving.  Now you two love birds can sit side-by-side in your lift chairs and continue to enjoy life with each other.  What a blessing!

Larry, I do not like really loud music, either.  I think some of the younger set think louder is better----NOT.

Thank you all for commenting on the devotional today.  That is encouraging to the ones who post them.

Abby is wanting to give me a massage, so I think that's an offer I shouldn't refuse!

Janet, I'm sure you're right about the younger generation and the volume they want for music.  When my grandson was about 12 he remarked that my stereo speakers "must be really loud".  I told him I didn't know, I'd never played my music loud.  He got a shocked look and said, "But Grandma!  Music  is supposed to be loud." :o
