Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

Jesus Prepares His Disciples
Matthew 10:16-42  NLT

16"Look, I am sending you out as sheep among wolves. Be as wary as snakes and harmless as doves. 17But beware! For you will be handed over to the courts and beaten in the synagogues. 18And you must stand trial before governors and kings because you are my followers. This will be your opportunity to tell them about me--yes, to witness to the world. 19When you are arrested, don't worry about what to say in your defense, because you will be given the right words at the right time. 20For it won't be you doing the talking--it will be the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.

21"Brother will betray brother to death, fathers will betray their own children, and children will rise against their parents and cause them to be killed. 22And everyone will hate you because of your allegiance to me. But those who endure to the end will be saved. 23When you are persecuted in one town, flee to the next. I assure you that I, the Son of Man, will return before you have reached all the towns of Israel.

24"A student is not greater than the teacher. A servant is not greater than the master. 25The student shares the teacher's fate. The servant shares the master's fate. And since I, the master of the household, have been called the prince of demons, how much more will it happen to you, the members of the household! 26But don't be afraid of those who threaten you. For the time is coming when everything will be revealed; all that is secret will be made public. 27What I tell you now in the darkness, shout abroad when daybreak comes. What I whisper in your ears, shout from the housetops for all to hear!

28"Don't be afraid of those who want to kill you. They can only kill your body; they cannot touch your soul. Fear only God, who can destroy both soul and body in hell. 29Not even a sparrow, worth only half a penny, can fall to the ground without your Father knowing it. 30And the very hairs on your head are all numbered. 31So don't be afraid; you are more valuable to him than a whole flock of sparrows.

32"If anyone acknowledges me publicly here on earth, I will openly acknowledge that person before my Father in heaven. 33But if anyone denies me here on earth, I will deny that person before my Father in heaven.

34"Don't imagine that I came to bring peace to the earth! No, I came to bring a sword. 35I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. 36Your enemies will be right in your own household! 37If you love your father or mother more than you love me, you are not worthy of being mine; or if you love your son or daughter more than me, you are not worthy of being mine. 38If you refuse to take up your cross and follow me, you are not worthy of being mine. 39If you cling to your life, you will lose it; but if you give it up for me, you will find it.

40"Anyone who welcomes you is welcoming me, and anyone who welcomes me is welcoming the Father who sent me. 41If you welcome a prophet as one who speaks for God, you will receive the same reward a prophet gets. And if you welcome good and godly people because of their godliness, you will be given a reward like theirs. 42And if you give even a cup of cold water to one of the least of my followers, you will surely be rewarded."

In what ways do Jesus' words speak to the fears you have?

Jesus said that God cares for the sparrows' every need.  We are far more valuable to God than these little birds, so valuable that God sent his only Son to die for us (John 3:16).

You are of great worth to God.  You are never lost in his inventory.  Because God places such value on you, you need never be afraid in the face of personal threats or difficult trials.

But don't think that because you are valuable to God he will take away all your troubles.  The real test of value is how well something holds up under the wear, tear, and abuse of everyday life.

Those who stand up for Christ in spite of their troubles truly have lasting value and will receive great rewards.

When it rains it pours!

I think that when the rains came while I was in Florida and rose in my basement, it got into the motor of my freezer.  (It's at least 30 years old!)  I went to the basement this afternoon to look around to see how the plumbers did my drains to the septic tank.  While there I opened the freezer.  Everything was mush!! !!  And this morning was trash day!! !!  I called around to see if anyone's trash was tomorrow or at least before next Monday...the trash company is changing our pick up to Mondays starting the 27th.  So Ivalou came over and we bagged everything up and took it to my niece's so it will be picked up in the morning.  Just glad I didn't have a whole lot in the freezer.

I still have water in the basement but not enough for my sump pump to pump it out.  I think I need to get a surface pump that will pump out within 1/8th inch!  Then I can see if the basement will dry out then!  Just maybe when the moisture gets out, the freezer might....maybe....work!  Doubtful!

Good devotional, Etta Sue.  Thanks.

I didn't realize it had reached time for a new day, sort of slowed down tonight.  So guess that will make me first and speedy ...  ?

Sun and rain today.  I see the temp on the weather machine is a little higher than this side of the Malahat.  Victoria is usually a few degrees warmer.  Their flowers bloom earlier than ours.  Speaking of flowers, am going to post a picture of a little boquet that Wendy picked from the garden.  Has small roses that bloom from November to April in the park they made at the end of their lot.  She has all sorts of interesting plants in the trees and along the paths they made.  Pretty!

Amanda is taking driving lessons and doing well.  Wants to be able to drive to University this fall.  Wish she could afford to stay in the city during the week.  Not financially possible tho'.  Hope things will be okay and will have to do lots of praying come fall....and sooner!

Her is a little smile.  Possible you have read before?

Hi everyone,

Once again I want to get here early as have lots of things I want to accomplish today, whether I do or not.  I just can't get a handle on all the pictures I have to work with for our church website but hope to tackle that as well today.  This is also the afternoon for Calvin Cove.

Last evening we brought in the flower pot and flower planters Pat fixed a few days ago.  She has some pretty bright red geraniums and some petunias.  They were predicting frost last night but don't think it got that cold.  I helped her move them in but think she will have to take them out as it about wore me out and brought on the angina.  I feel ok today.

Yesterday our son was over and we got the new Vonage VoiP telephone system set up.  I had to take the first adapter back to Fry's and they tried about 5 units to find one that the Vonage site would recognize as having a valid MAC address.  I was then able to get my account set up and he fixed the phones.  Initially we couldn't get a dial tone but he said lets check the telephone cable that we had run into Pat's office, where the base unit will be, and found the cable was bad.  When we replaced it it worked fine.  We can call out but folks can't call us on it until the telephone company makes some changes and that takes 10-14 days.  Now I have to get the new phones setup with the number in memory and learn how to use the many features of the phones.  It seems nothing is as simple as it used to be.

Etta Sue, glad you got your drain fixed but I sure wouldn't like having water standing in my basement (know you don't like it either).  Doesn't that make your house smell musty most of the time?  Thanks for the devotional this morning.

Ed, our church as sent three teams of workers to Mississippi to help in the recovery efforts and plan to go some more.  A few folks go for a week and others join them on Thursday afternoon and then they all return on Sunday.

Liz, it is always an exciting time when a young person learns to drive.  A bit scary to the parents :).

Janet, sure hope the MRI for Beth doesn't show a serious progression of her disease.  Glad you have the van to ease the transportation problems.  Hope your grandsons enjoyed the talapia.  I had never eaten it until this last year and now we have it about once a week as it is delicious.

Jeanne, it sounds like your Lenten luncheon was very successful.  Glad you all had something left to eat.

Chris, that was an interesting article that you posted.  It is important that our President make better contact with the citizens.

Hi Kevin, Sue, Ritz and all those posting today.

Good Morning: Great devotional Etta Sue.
QuoteThose who stand up for Christ in spite of their troubles truly have lasting value and will receive great rewards.
This reminds me of the message we had last night from our Guest Preacher. He used several true stories of trials and trouble  that caused people to turn away from GOD and other that kept on marching toward the goal. It was a great message to us to keep on shouting , keep on marching and to keep on advancing. His text was when Joshua  had the Israelites marching around Jericho.

Yesterday my dryer blew one of the circuit breakers twice, the first time I went out to reset it I threw the main switch, so I had to reset the clock in my bedroom and the one on the Microwave. Wouldn't you know I set them both an hour fast. Ha!  I got up at 5 thinking it was 6, a few minutes ago I looked at the wall clock in the living room and realize my mistake.  No wonder it was still dark when I got up.

Larry you lead such a busy life, sometimes I read your posts and think "Oh my, I could never keep that busy."  But as you know I do. We are still waiting for the Pastor to get the  passwords from the person who originally built our church website so that I can get on there to make the corrections and to keep it going. That will be a real challenge for me to keep up the church website.

Is it really the 23rd already?  The month is almost gone!  Thanks for the "church signs" Liz - I like those.  Today we are praying for Wesley, a young fellow our church is helping a lot.  He has his custody hearing today for his 15-month-old daughter.  His wife left him and has been extremely hateful, so we're praying he'll get custody.  We think he will, because the pastor wrote a letter, one of our members has been the attendant at her visitations, and the state has investigated with good results.  He's been an excellent dad.  We've been his transportation and his Bible teachers for the last month and a half.

WOW  Etta Sue that was an amazing devotional today I really needed to read that scripture.  No servant is above the master.  We are servamts of Christ, yet how often do we expect to be problem and pain free.  His time on earth was full of pain right up to His death.  We can expect problems, but we can also KNOW He is there strengthing us.   WOW.

Isn't it amazing when you see your child make wise decisions?  I watched decisions being made in Melaura's education.  She has a lot of wisdom, and the teen "foolishness" sometimes clouds our vision.  Still she keeps going with the wisdom she asks Giod for.

We are still hovering around -5*C to +5*C.  There is a melt and evaporation going on and the threat of flooding is gone as long as we keep the cool temperatures.  Thank you Lord!

We have sold the one puppy that was available, and we are keeping the other two.  I realize this is going to tie us down as long as we have dogs.  But, this is the beginning of our breeding stock.  I really should get pictures taken and put them into an album here.  In time I will do that.

Papa John Janet and Gord I am holding you all up in prayer.  Al well as anyone else who has burdens.  I am keeping you in mind also.

Well a lot to do today I must go
Love Judy

It has been a slow day here on CP.  I guess everyone is enjoying the signs of spring.

It has been a busy day here,  We have spent the day changing rooms around.

The weather has continued to be good, we actually got up to +8*C today and it is now dropping again.  I do so enjoy spring, it has such an exciting smell and many sounds of the wildlife.

John has been home a couple of days.  It is so nice to have him home.

Pat how bout some hymns or some choruses?  Would be nice to do some singing.

Well Bye for now,

Janet

My, what a day I have had.  A simple chore, namely taking Beth for that MRI, turned into a 5 hour ordeal.  :P  Her appointment was at 9:30, so I went over early to get her, and the first thing was, she ran her power chair off the edge of the sidewalk.  The chair alone weighs 203 #, so no way could I get it back on the walk with her in it.  I had to go inside, get her walker, heave her up and let her cling to the walker, forcibly move each of her feet enough that I could get between her and the chair, then get it back on the walk. Whew!

Then, when we got checked in for the MRI, we were told that "the lady" was running late, and she couldn't get it done until 12:00.  I took her to see her grandma at the rest home, then to get some breakfast, back to the hospital where we sat and waited until 12:30 before they came to take her.  I was told it would be 30-40 minutes, and it was an hour and 10 minutes before they brought her back.  By the time I got home I was so stressed I was trembling and almost in tears.  The boys were here, but thankfully, Darrel got their breakfast.....then their lunch.....then took them to the pool.  My ladies were supposed to be here to paint, and I was running 30 minutes late for that.  But they didn't come because of illness......again.  Sorry, and thanks for letting me vent. :ticked:  Now I will  :)

Our Ladies Retreat starts tomorrow night!  It's going to be great!

I can't believe they boys' time with me is almost over for this visit.  I wish there were more things for them to do here that they like, because I want them to come back!

I need to let Addison use the computer, will be back later to do the NEM for Pat, as her computer is on the fritz.

I have had a kind of lazy day. I did go to Fay's , then I took the laundry over to  Joanne's house and took her husband (the pastor) to the hospital to sit with her. I came home and took Happy for a walk after Bill across the street helped me to put the medicine in his ears. Then I took Bebe for a walk, Paid some  bills online. and  just took thing easy. My pot of beans are done now  and shut off.

Hi all.  Sorry I've been kinda scarce.  We've been really really busy.  Kristi has started walking, so  . . .my "down" time is almost non-existent, except at night when I'm too tired to think of anything to post.

I am popping in and reading though, and praying for ya'll.

Take care and have a good night!
